Harmonic Maass forms associated with CM newforms

In this paper, we use a regularized theta lifting to construct harmonic Maass forms corresponding to binary theta functions of weight $k \ge 2$ under the $ξ$-operator. As a result, we show that their holomorphic parts have algebraic Fourier coefficients, with compatible Galois action. As an application, we prove rationality properties of coefficients of harmonic Maaass forms corresponding to CM newforms, answering a question of Bruinier, Ono and Rhoades.

Twisted traces of modular functions on hyperbolic $3$-space

We compute analogues of twisted traces of CM values of harmonic modular functions on hyperbolic $3$-space and show that they are essentially given by Fourier coefficients of the $j$-invariant. From this we deduce that the twisted traces of these harmonic modular functions are integers. Additionally, we compute the twisted traces of Eisenstein series on hyperbolic $3$-space in terms of Dirichlet $L$-functions and divisor sums.

Cycle integrals of meromorphic Hilbert modular forms

We establish a rationality result for linear combinations of traces of cycle integrals of certain meromorphic Hilbert modular forms. These are meromorphic counterparts to the Hilbert cusp forms $ω_m(z_1,z_2)$, which Zagier investigated in the context of the Doi-Naganuma lift. We give an explicit formula for these cycle integrals, expressed in terms of the Fourier coefficients of harmonic Maass forms. A key element in our proof is the explicit construction of locally harmonic Hilbert-Maass forms on $\mathbb{H}^2$, which are analogous to the elliptic locally harmonic Maass forms examined by Bringmann, Kane, and Kohnen. Additionally, we introduce a regularized theta lift that maps elliptic harmonic Maass forms to locally harmonic Hilbert-Maass forms and is closely related to the Doi-Naganuma lift.

Special values of Green's functions on hyperbolic $3$-space

Gross, Kohnen and Zagier proved an averaged version of the algebraicity conjecture for special values of higher Green's functions on modular curves. In this work, we study an analogous problem for special values of Green's functions on hyperbolic $3$-space. We prove that their averages can be computed in terms of logarithms of primes and logarithms of units in real quadratic fields. Moreover, we study twisted averages of special values of Green's functions, which yield algebraic numbers instead of logarithms.

Cycle integrals of meromorphic modular forms and Siegel theta functions

We study meromorphic modular forms associated with positive definite binary quadratic forms and their cycle integrals along closed geodesics in the modular curve. We show that suitable linear combinations of these meromorphic modular forms have rational cycle integrals. Along the way, we evaluate the cycle integrals of the Siegel theta function associated with an even lattice of signature $(1,2)$ in terms of Hecke's indefinite theta functions, which is of independent interest.

Laurent expansions of meromorphic modular forms

In this paper, we study the Laurent coefficients of meromorphic modular forms at CM points by giving two approaches of computing them. The first is a generalization of the method of Rodriguez-Villegas and Zagier, which expresses the Laurent coefficients as constant terms of a family of polynomials obtained through recursion. The second applies to meromorphic modular forms that are regularized theta lifts, and expresses their Laurent coefficients in terms of Fourier coefficients of harmonic Maass forms.

Binary theta functions and Borcherds products

We obtain infinite product expansions in the sense of Borcherds for theta functions associated with certain positive-definite binary quadratic and binary hermitian forms. Among other things, we show that every weight 1 binary theta function is a Borcherds product. In particular, binary theta functions have zeros only at quadratic irrationalities.

Harmonic weak Maass forms and periods II

In this paper we investigate the Fourier coefficients of harmonic Maass forms of negative half-integral weight. We relate the algebraicity of these coefficients to the algebraicity of the coefficients of certain canonical meromorphic modular forms of positive even weight with poles at Heegner divisors. Moreover, we give an explicit formula for the coefficients of harmonic Maass forms in terms of periods of certain meromorphic modular forms with algebraic coefficients.

Cycle Integrals of the Parson Poincaré Series and Intersection Angles of Geodesics on Modular Curves

We prove a geometric formula for the cycle integrals of Parson's weight 2k modular integrals in terms of the intersection angles of geodesics on modular curves. Our result is an analog for modular integrals of a classical formula for the cycle integrals of certain hyperbolic Poincaré series, due to Katok. On the other hand, it extends a recent geometric formula of Matsusaka and Duke, Imamoglu, and Tóth for the cycle integrals of weight 2 modular integrals.

Mock Modular Forms with Integral Fourier Coefficients

In this note, we explicitly construct mock modular forms with integral Fourier coefficients by evaluating regularized Petersson inner products involving their shadows, which are unary theta functions of weights 1/2 and 3/2 . In addition, we also improve the known bounds for the denominators of the coefficients of mock modular forms whose shadows are holomorphic weight one cusp forms constructed by Hecke.

Arithmetic properties of Fourier coefficients of meromorphic modular forms

We investigate integrality and divisibility properties of Fourier coefficients of meromorphic modular forms of weight $2k$ associated to positive definite integral binary quadratic forms. For example, we show that if there are no non-trivial cusp forms of weight $2k$, then the $n$-th coefficients of these meromorphic modular forms are divisible by $n^{k-1}$ for every natural number $n$. Moreover, we prove that their coefficients are non-vanishing and have either constant or alternating signs. Finally, we obtain a relation between the Fourier coefficients of meromorphic modular forms, the coefficients of the $j$-function, and the partition function.

Locally harmonic Maass forms and periods of meromorphic modular forms

We investigate a new family of locally harmonic Maass forms which correspond to periods of modular forms. They transform like negative weight modular forms and are harmonic apart from jump singularities along infinite geodesics. Our main result is an explicit splitting of the new locally harmonic Maass forms into a harmonic part and a locally polynomial part that captures the jump singularities. As an application, we obtain finite rational formulas for suitable linear combinations of periods of meromorphic modular forms associated to positive definite binary quadratic forms.

On the rationality of cycle integrals of meromorphic modular forms

We derive finite rational formulas for the traces of cycle integrals of certain meromorphic modular forms. Moreover, we prove the modularity of a completion of the generating function of such traces. The theoretical framework for these results is an extension of the Shintani theta lift to meromorphic modular forms of positive even weight.

Traces of reciprocal singular moduli

We show that the generating series of traces of reciprocal singular moduli is a mixed mock modular form of weight $3/2$ whose shadow is given by a linear combination of products of unary and binary theta functions. To prove these results, we extend the Kudla-Millson theta lift of Bruinier and Funke to meromorphic modular functions.

Rigidity of elliptic genera: from number theory to geometry and back

In this paper we derive topological and number theoretical consequences of the rigidity of elliptic genera, which are special modular forms associated to each compact almost complex manifold. In particular, on the geometry side, we prove that rigidity implies relations between the Betti numbers and the index of a compact symplectic manifold of dimension $2n$ admitting a Hamiltonian action of a circle with isolated fixed points. We investigate the case of maximal index and toric actions. On the number theoretical side we prove that from each compact almost complex manifold of index greater than one, that can be endowed with the action of a circle with isolated fixed points, one can derive non-trivial relations among Eisenstein series. We give explicit formulas coming from the standard action on $\mathbb{C} P^n$.

Theta lifts for Lorentzian lattices and coefficients of mock theta functions

We evaluate regularized theta lifts for Lorentzian lattices in three different ways. In particular, we obtain formulas for their values at special points involving coefficients of mock theta functions. By comparing the different evaluations, we derive recurrences for the coefficients of mock theta functions, such as Hurwitz class numbers, Andrews' spt-function, and Ramanujan's mock theta functions.
