Twisted component sums of vector-valued modular forms

We construct isomorphisms between spaces of vector-valued modular forms for the dual Weil representation and certain spaces of scalar-valued modular forms in the case that the underlying finite quadratic module $A$ has order $p$ or $2p$, where $p$ is an odd prime. The isomorphisms are given by twisted sums of the components of vector-valued modular forms. Our results generalize work of Bruinier and Bundschuh to the case that the components $F_γ$ of the vector-valued modular form are antisymmetric in the sense that $F_γ = -F_{-γ}$ for all $γ\in A$. As an application, we compute restrictions of Doi-Naganuma lifts of odd weight to components of Hirzebruch-Zagier curves.

Holomorphic Borcherds products of singular weight for simple lattices of arbitrary level

We classify the holomorphic Borcherds products of singular weight for all simple lattices of signature $(2,n)$ with $n \geq 3$. In addition to the automorphic products of singular weight for the simple lattices of square free level found by Dittmann, Hagemeier and the second author, we obtain several automorphic products of singular weight $1/2$ for simple lattices of signature $(2,3)$. We interpret them as Siegel modular forms of genus $2$ and explicitly describe them in terms of the ten even theta constants. In order to rule out further holomorphic Borcherds products of singular weight, we derive estimates for the Fourier coefficients of vector valued Eisenstein series, which are of independent interest.

Borcherds lifts of harmonic Maass forms and modular integrals

We extend Borcherds' singular theta lift in signature $(1,2)$ to harmonic Maass forms of weight $1/2$ whose non-holomorphic part is allowed to be of exponential growth at $i\infty$. We determine the singularities of the lift and compute its Fourier expansion. It turns out that the lift is continuous but not differentiable along certain geodesics in the upper half-plane corresponding to the non-holomorphic principal part of the input. As an application, we obtain a generalization to higher level of the weight $2$ modular integral of Duke, Imamoglu and Tóth. Further, we construct automorphic products associated to harmonic Maass forms.

Nonvanishing modulo $\ell$ of Fourier coefficients of Jacobi forms

Let $ϕ= \sum_{r^{2} \leq 4mn}c(n,r)q^{n}ζ^{r}$ be a Jacobi form of weight $k$ (with $k > 2$ if $ϕ$ is not a cusp form) and index $m$ with integral algebraic coefficients which is an eigenfunction of all Hecke operators $T_{p}, (p,m) = 1,$ and which has at least one nonvanishing coefficient $c(n,r)$ with $r$ prime to $m$. We prove that for almost all primes $\ell$ there are infinitely many fundamental discriminants $D = r^{2}-4mn < 0$ prime to $m$ with $ν_{\ell}(c(n,r)) = 0$, where $ν_{\ell}$ denotes a continuation of the $\ell$-adic valuation on $\mathbb{Q}$ to an algebraic closure. As applications we show indivisibility results for special values of Dirichlet $L$-series and for the central critical values of twisted $L$-functions of even weight newforms.

A converse theorem for Borcherds products on $X_0(N)$

We show that every Fricke invariant meromorphic modular form for $Γ_0(N)$ whose divisor on $X_0(N)$ is defined over $\mathbb{Q}$ and supported on Heegner divisors and the cusps is a generalized Borcherds product associated to a harmonic Maass form of weight $1/2$. Further, we derive a criterion for the finiteness of the multiplier systems of generalized Borcherds products in terms of the vanishing of the central derivatives of $L$-function of certain weight $2$ newforms. We also prove similar results for twisted Borcherds products.

On the modular completion of certain generating functions

We complete several generating functions to non-holomorphic modular forms in two variables. For instance, we consider the generating function of a natural family of meromorphic modular forms of weight two. We then show that this generating series can be completed to a smooth, non-holomorphic modular form of weights 3/2 and two. Moreover, it turns out that the same function is also a modular completion of the generating function of weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight 3/2, which prominently appear in work of Zagier on traces of singular moduli.

Eisenstein series for the Weil representation

We compute the Fourier expansion of vector valued Eisenstein series for the Weil representation associated to an even lattice. To this end, we define certain twists by Dirichlet characters of the usual Eisenstein series associated to isotropic elements in the discriminant form of the underlying lattice. These twisted functions still form a generating system for the space of Eisenstein series but have better multiplicative properties than the individual Eisenstein series. We adapt a method of Bruinier and Kuss to obtain algebraic formulas for the Fourier coefficients of the twisted Eisenstein series in terms of special values of Dirichlet $L$-functions and representation numbers modulo prime powers of the underlying lattice. In particular, we obtain that the Fourier coefficients of the individual Eisenstein series are rational numbers. Additionally, we show that the twisted Eisenstein series are eigenforms of the Hecke operators on vector valued modular forms introduced by Bruinier and Stein.

Shintani theta lifts of harmonic Maass forms

We define a regularized Shintani theta lift which maps weight $2k+2$ ($k \in \Z, k \geq 0$) harmonic Maass forms for congruence subgroups to (sesqui-)harmonic Maass forms of weight $3/2+k$ for the Weil representation of an even lattice of signature $(1,2)$. We show that its Fourier coefficients are given by traces of CM values and regularized cycle integrals of the input harmonic Maass form. Further, the Shintani theta lift is related via the $ξ$-operator to the Millson theta lift studied in our earlier work. We use this connection to construct $ξ$-preimages of Zagier's weight $1/2$ generating series of singular moduli and of some of Ramanujan's mock theta functions.

Algebraic formulas for the coefficients of mock theta functions and Weyl vectors of Borcherds products

We present some applications of the Kudla-Millson and the Millson theta lift. The two lifts map weakly holomorphic modular functions to vector valued harmonic Maass forms of weight $3/2$ and $1/2$, respectively. We give finite algebraic formulas for the coefficients of Ramanujan's mock theta functions $f(q)$ and $ω(q)$ in terms of traces of CM-values of a weakly holomorphic modular function. Further, we construct vector valued harmonic Maass forms whose shadows are unary theta functions, and whose holomorphic parts have rational coefficients. This yields a rationality result for the coefficients of mock theta functions, i.e., harmonic Maass forms whose shadows lie in the space of unary theta functions. Moreover, the harmonic Maass forms we construct can be used to evaluate the Petersson inner products of unary theta functions with harmonic Maass forms, giving formulas and rationality results for the Weyl vectors of Borcherds products.

Kronecker limit formulas for parabolic, hyperbolic, and elliptic Eisenstein series via Borcherds products

The classical Kronecker limit formula describes the constant term in the Laurent expansion at the first order pole of the non-holomorphic Eisenstein series associated to the cusp at infinity of the modular group. Recently, the meromorphic continuation and Kronecker limit type formulas were investigated for non-holomorphic Eisenstein series associated to hyperbolic and elliptic elements of a Fuchsian group of the first kind by Jorgenson, Kramer and the first named author. In the present work, we realize averaged versions of all three types of Eisenstein series for $Γ_0(N)$ as regularized theta lifts of a single type of Poincaré series, due to Selberg. Using this realization and properties of the Poincaré series we derive the meromorphic continuation and Kronecker limit formulas for the above Eisenstein series. The corresponding Kronecker limit functions are then given by the logarithm of the absolute value of the Borcherds product associated to a special value of the underlying Poincaré series.

On a theta lift related to the Shintani lift

We study a certain theta lift which maps weight $-2k$ to weight $1/2-k$ harmonic weak Maass forms for $k \in \mathbb{Z}, k \geq 0$, and which is closely related to the classical Shintani lift from weight $2k+2$ to weight $k+3/2$ cusp forms. We compute the Fourier expansion of the theta lift and show that it involves twisted traces of CM values and geodesic cycle integrals of the input function. As an application, we obtain a criterion for the non-vanishing of the central $L$-value of an integral weight newform $G$ in terms of the holomorphicity of the theta lift of a certain harmonic weak Maass form associated to $G$. Moreover, we derive interesting identities between cycle integrals of different kinds of modular forms.

Automorphic products of singular weight for simple lattices

We classify the simple even lattices of square free level and signature (2,n) for n > 3. A lattice is called simple if the space of cusp forms of weight 1+n/2 for the dual Weil representation of the lattice is trivial. For a simple lattice every formal principal part obeying obvious conditions is the principal part of a vector valued modular form. Using this, we determine all holomorphic Borcherds products of singular weight (arising from vector valued modular forms with non-negative principal part) for the simple lattices. We construct the corresponding vector valued modular forms by eta products and compute expansions of the automorphic products at different cusps.

Nonvanishing and Central Critical Values of Twisted $L$-functions of Cusp Forms on Average

Let $f$ be a holomorphic cusp form of integral weight $k \geq 3$ for $Γ_{0}(N)$ with nebentypus character $ψ$. Generalising work of Kohnen and Raghuram we construct a kernel function for the $L$-function $L(f,χ,s)$ of $f$ twisted by a primitive Dirichlet character $χ$ and use it to show that the average $\sum_{f \in S_{k}(N,ψ)}\frac{L(f,χ,s)}{ }\bar{a_{f}(1)}$ over an orthogonal basis of $S_{k}(N,ψ)$ does not vanish on certain line segments inside the critical strip if the weight $k$ or the level $N$ is big enough. As another application of the kernel function we prove an averaged version of Waldspurger's theorem relating the central critical value of the $D$-th twist ($D < 0$ a fundamental discriminant) of the $L$-function of a cusp form $f$ of even weight $2k$ to the square of the $|D|$-th Fourier coefficient of a form of half-integral weight $k+1/2$ associated to $f$ under the Shimura correspondence.
