Superfluidity in neutrino clusters

We study the formation of a superfluid condensate of neutrinos inside a neutrino cluster. The attractive interaction between neutrinos is mediated by a scalar boson which is lighter than a neutrino. We consider the appearance of neutrino bound states consisting of particles with oppositely directed spins. The gap equation for such a system is derived. Based on numerical simulations of the neutrino distribution in a cluster, we find the phase transition temperature and the coherence length inside such a cluster for various parameters of the system. The constraints on the parameters of the Yukawa interaction, resulting in the neutrino superfluidity, are derived. We obtain that the cosmic neutrino background can contribute to the superfluid condensate inside a neutrino cluster having realistic characteristics. The mechanism of the neutrino cluster cooling in the early universe, based on the plasmons Čerenkov radiation, is proposed.

Invariants of magnetic lines for Yang-Mills solutions

We construct a new Yang-Mills 3D-solution on the space of negative scalar curvarure. We discuss a problem of non-abelian gauge symmetry is broken with the assumption that a scalar curvature of the domain is a negative small parameter. In this case we use the following fact: a geometrical scale related with Vassiliev's discriminant of magnetic lines coincids with a physical Kolmogorov scale. This gives an estimation of $α$-effect by the dispersion of the asymptotic ergodic Hopf invariant in the limite with a negative scalar curvature parameter.

Thin layer axion dynamo

We study interacting classical magnetic and pseudoscalar fields in frames of the axion electrodynamics. A large scale pseudoscalar field can be the coherent superposition of axions or axion like particles. We consider the evolution of these fields in a thin spherical layer. Decomposing the magnetic field into the poloidal and toroidal components, we take into account their symmetry properties. The dependence of the pseudoscalar field on the latitude is accounted for the induction equation. Then, we derive the dynamo equations in the low mode approximation. The nonlinear evolution equations for the harmonics of the magnetic and pseudoscalar fields are solved numerically. As an application, we consider a dense axion star embedded in solar plasma. The behavior of the harmonics and their typical oscillations frequencies are obtained. We suggest that such small objects consisting of axions and confined magnetic fields can cause the recently observed flashes in solar corona contributing to its heating.

Magnetic helicity in rotating neutron stars

We study the magnetic helicity evolution in neutron stars (NSs). First, we analyze how the surface terms affect the conservation law for the sum of the chiral imbalance of the charged particle densities and the density of the magnetic helicity. Our results are applied to a system with a finite volume, which can be a magnetized NS. We show that the contribution of these surface terms can potentially lead to the reconnection of magnetic field lines followed by X-ray or gamma bursts observed in magnetars. Comparing the new quantum surface term with the classical contribution known in the standard magnetic hydrodynamics, we obtain that its contribution dominates over the classical term only for NS with a rigid rotation. Second, we study the dynamics of chiral electrons which interact electroweakly with a background fermions having the velocity, arbitrarily depending on spatial coordinates, and the nonuniform density. We derive the the kinetic equations and the effective action for right and left particles. The correction to the Adler anomaly and to the anomalous electric current are obtained in the case of a rotating matter. Then, the obtained results are applied for the study of the magnetic helicity flow inside a magnetized rotating NS. We compute the characteristic time of the helicity change and demonstrate that it coincides with the the magnetic cycle period of certain pulsars.

Neutrino spin oscillations in a magnetized Polish doughnut

We study the gravitational scattering of ultrarelativistic neutrinos off a rotating supermassive black hole (BH) surrounded by a thick magnetized accretion disk. Neutrinos interact electroweakly with background matter and with the magnetic field in the disk since neutrinos are supposed to possess nonzero magnetic moments. The interaction with external fields results in neutrino spin oscillations. We find that the toroidal magnetic field, inherent in the magnetized Polish doughnut, does not cause a significant spin-flip for any reasonable strengths of the toroidal component. The reduction of the observed neutrino flux, owing to neutrino spin oscillations, is predicted. A poloidal component of the magnetic field gives the main contribution to the modification of the observed flux. The neutrino interaction with matter, rotating with relativistic velocities, also changes the flux of neutrinos. We briefly discuss the idea of the neutrino tomography of magnetic field distributions in accretion disks near BHs.

Production of relic gravitational waves and the baryon asymmetry of the universe by random hypermagnetic fields

We study the evolution of hypermagnetic fields (HMFs) in random plasma in the symmetric phase of the early universe. The system of kinetic equations for the spectra of the energy density and the helicity, as well as the particles asymmetries is derived. We also formulate the initial condition which involve the Kazantsev and Kolmogorov spectra of the seed HMFs. This system is solved numerically. We predict the energy spectrum of primeval gravitational waves which are produced by these HMFs. Additionally, the baryon asymmetry of the universe, generated by the lepton asymmetries, is obtained. These results allow us to constrain the strength of seed HMFs.

Neutrino spin and flavor oscillations in gravitational fields

We study spin and flavor oscillations of astrophysical neutrinos under the influence of external fields in curved spacetime. First, we consider spin oscillations in case of neutrinos gravitationally scattered off a rotating supermassive black hole surrounded by a thin magnetized accretion disk. We find that the gravitational interaction only does not result in the spin-flip of scattered ultrarelativistic neutrinos. Realistic magnetic fields lead to the significant reduction of the observed flux of neutrinos possessing reasonable magnetic moments. Second, we study neutrino flavor oscillations in stochastic gravitational waves (GWs). We derive the effective Hamiltonian for neutrinos interacting with a plane GW having an arbitrary polarization. Then, we consider stochastic GWs with arbitrary correlators of amplitudes. The equation for the density matrix for neutrino oscillations is solved analytically and the probabilities to detect certain neutrino flavors are derived. We find that the interaction of neutrinos, emitted by a core-collapsing supernova, with the stochastic GW background results in the several percent change of the neutrino fluxes. The observability of the predicted effects is discussed.

Scattering of neutrinos by a rotating black hole accounting for the electroweak interaction with an accretion disk

We study spin effects in the neutrino gravitational scattering by a supermassive black hole with a magnetized accretion disk having a finite thickness. We exactly describe the propagation of ultrarelativistic neutrinos on null geodesics and solve the spin precession equation along each neutrino trajectory. The interaction of neutrinos with the magnetic field is owing to the nonzero diagonal magnetic moment. Additionally, neutrinos interact with plasma of the accretion disk electroweakly within the Fermi approximation. These interactions are obtained to change the polarization of incoming neutrinos, which are left particles. The fluxes of scattered neutrinos, proportional to the survival probability of spin oscillations, are derived for various parameters of the system. In particular, we are focused on the matter influence on the outgoing neutrinos flux. The possibility to observe the predicted effects for astrophysical neutrinos is briefly discussed.

Impact of hypermagnetic fields on relic gravitational waves, neutrino oscillations and baryon asymmetry

We study the evolution of random hypermagnetic fields (HMFs) in the symmetric phase of the early universe before the electroweak phase transition. The behavior of HMFs is driven by the analog of the chiral magnetic effect accounting for the asymmetries of leptons and Higgs bosons. These asymmetries are also dynamical variables of the model and evolve together with HMFs. Moreover, we account for the contribution of the hyper-MHD turbulence in the effective diffusion coefficient and the $α$-dynamo parameter. The realistic spectrum of seed HMFs consists of two branches: Batchelor and Kolmogorov ones. The impact of HMFs on the production of relic gravitational waves (GWs) and the baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU), as well as flavor oscillations of supernova neutrinos in the stochastic GWs generated, are considered. We establish the constraint on the strength of the seed HMF comparing the spectral density of produced GWs with the observations of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaborations. The stronger upper bound on the seed HMF is obtained from the condition of not exceeding the observed value of BAU.

Gravitational scattering of spinning neutrinos by a rotating black hole with a slim magnetized accretion disk

We study neutrinos gravitationally scattered off a rotating supermassive black hole which is surrounded by a thin accretion disk with a realistic magnetic field. Neutrinos are supposed to be Dirac particles having a nonzero magnetic moment. Neutrinos move along arbitrary trajectories, with the incoming flux being parallel to the equatorial plane. We exactly account for the influence of both gravity and the magnetic field on the neutrino motion and its spin evolution. The general statement that the helicity of an ultrarelativistic neutrino is constant in the particle scattering in an arbitrary gravitational field is proven within the quasiclassical approach. We find the measurable fluxes of outgoing neutrinos taking into account the neutrino spin precession in the external field in curved spacetime. These fluxes turn out to be significantly suppressed for some parameters of the system. Finally, we discuss the possibility to observe the predicted phenomena for core-collapsing supernova neutrinos in our Galaxy.

Interaction of inhomogeneous axions with magnetic fields in the early universe

We study the system of interacting axions and magnetic fields in the early universe after the quantum chromodynamics phase transition, when axions acquire masses. Both axions and magnetic fields are supposed to be spatially inhomogeneous. We derive the equations for the spatial spectra of these fields, which depend on conformal time. In case of the magnetic field, we deal with the spectra of the energy density and the magnetic helicity density. The evolution equations are obtained in the closed form within the mean field approximation. We choose the parameters of the system and the initial condition which correspond to realistic primordial magnetic fields and axions. The system of equations for the spectra is solved numerically. We compare the cases of inhomogeneous and homogeneous axions. The evolution of the magnetic field in these cases is different only within small time intervals. Generally, magnetic fields are driven mainly by the magnetic diffusion. We find that the magnetic field instability takes place for the amplified initial wavefunction of the homogeneous axion. This instability is suppressed if we account for the inhomogeneity of the axion.

Gravitational waves generation in turbulent hypermagnetic fields before the electroweak phase transition

We study the production of relic gravitational waves (GWs) in turbulent hypermagnetic fields (HMFs) in the symmetric phase of the early universe before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). The noise of HMFs is modeled by the analog of the magnetic hydrodynamics turbulence. The evolution of HMFs is driven by the analogs of the chiral magnetic effect and the Adler anomalies in the presence of the nonzero asymmetries of leptons and Higgs bosons. We track the evolution of the energy density of GWs from 10 TeV down to EWPT and analyze its dependence on the parameters of the system. We also discuss the possibility to observe the predicted GW background by the current GW detectors.

Influence of the hypermagnetic field noise on the baryon asymmetry generation in the symmetric phase of the early universe

We study a matter turbulence caused by strong random hypermagnetic fields (HMFs ) that influence the baryon asymmetry evolution due to the Abelian anomalies in the symmetric phase in the early Universe. Such a matter turbulence is stipulated by the presence of the advection term in the induction equation for which a fluid velocity is dominated by the Lorentz force in the Navier-Stokes equation. For random HMFs, having nonzero mean squared strengths, we calculate the spectra for the HMF energy and the HMF helicity densities. The latter function governs the evolution of the fermion asymmetries in the symmetric phase before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). In the simplest model based on the first SM generation for the lepton asymmetries of $e_\mathrm{R,L}$ and $ν_{e_\mathrm{L}}$, we calculate a decline of all fermion asymmetries including the baryon asymmetry, given by the `t Hooft conservation law, when one accounts for a turbulence of HMFs during the universe cooling down to EWPT. We obtain that the stronger the mean squared strength of random initial HMFs is, the deeper the fermion asymmetries decrease, compared to the case in the absence of any turbulence.

Interaction of supernova neutrinos with stochastic gravitational waves

We examine the propagation and flavor oscillations of neutrinos under the influence of gravitational waves (GWs) with an arbitrary polarization. We rederive the effective Hamiltonian for the system of three neutrino flavors using the perturbative approach. Then, using this result, we consider the evolution of neutrino flavors in stochastic GWs with a general energy density spectrum. The equation for the density matrix is obtained and solved analytically in the case of three neutrino flavors. As an application, we study the evolution of the flavor content of a neutrino beam emitted in a core-collapsing supernova. We obtain the analytical expressions for the contributions of GWs to the neutrino fluxes and for the damping decrement, which describes the attenuation of the fluxes to their asymptotic values. We find that the contribution to the evolution of neutrino fluxes from GWs, emitted by merging supermassive black holes, dominates over that from black holes with stellar masses. The implication of the obtained results for the measurement of astrophysical neutrinos with neutrino telescopes is discussed.

Neutrino scattering off a black hole surrounded by a magnetized accretion disk

We study the neutrino scattering off a rotating black hole with a realistic accretion disk permeated by an intrinsic magnetic field. Neutrino trajectories in curved spacetime as well as the particle spin evolution in dense matter of an accretion disk and in the magnetic field are accounted for exactly. We obtain the fluxes of outgoing ultrarelativistic neutrinos taking into account the change of the neutrino polarization owing to spin oscillations. Using the conservative value of the neutrino magnetic moment and realistic radial distributions of the matter density and the magnetic field strength, we get that these fluxes are reduced by several percent compared to the case when no spin oscillations are accounted for. In some situations, there are spikes in the neutrino fluxes because of the neutrino interaction with the rotating plasma of an accretion disk. Taking into account the uncertainties in the astrophysical neutrino fluxes, the predicted effects turn out to be quite small to be observed with the current neutrino telescopes.

Birefringence of electromagnetic waves in the relic neutrino gas

We reconsider the problem of the birefringence of electromagnetic (EM) waves in a medium consisting of a plasma and a $ν\barν$-gas within the Standard Model of particle physics. The considered effect arises in such a medium due to the parity violation for the electroweak neutrino-electron interaction. Our recent calculations of the electroweak correction to the photon polarization operator in the electroweak plasma allow us to significantly improve some previous estimates of such effect in astrophysics. We estimate the rotary power for EM waves propagating in a non-relativistic plasma in the intergalactic space and interacting with the gas of relic neutrinos and antineutrinos there. We show that, in presence of a plasma, the EM wave birefringence effect in a $ν\barν$-gas exceeds significantly that effect in a $ν\barν$-gas in empty space considered earlier. These previous treatments of the birefringence relied on the calculations of the refraction index for on-shell photons in vacuum using the forward scattering amplitude $γν\to γν$ with virtual charged leptons in Feynman diagrams. The possibility to observe experimentally the new effect suggested here is discussed.

Flavor ratios of astrophysical neutrinos interacting with stochastic gravitational waves having arbitrary spectra

We study the evolution and oscillations of fixed massive neutrinos interacting with stochastic gravitational waves (GWs). The energy spectrum of these GWs is Gaussian, with the correlator of the amplitudes being arbitrary. We derive the equation for the density matrix for flavor neutrinos in this case. In the two flavors approximation, this equation can be solved analytically. We find the numerical solution for the density matrix in the general case of three neutrino flavors. We consider merging binary black holes as sources of stochastic GWs with realistic spectra. Both normal and inverted mass orderings are analyzed. We discuss the relaxation of the neutrino fluxes in stochastic GWs emitted mainly by supermassive black holes. In this situation, we obtain the range of energies and the propagation lengths for which the relaxation process is the most efficient. We discuss the application of our results for the observation of fluxes of astrophysical neutrinos.
