A symmetry classification for a class of (2+1)-nonlinear wave equation

In this paper, a symmetry classification of a $(2+1)$-nonlinear wave equation $u_{tt}-f(u)(u_{xx}+u_{yy})=0$ where $f(u)$ is a smooth function on $u$, using Lie group method, is given. The basic infinitesimal method for calculating symmetry groups is presented, and used to determine the general symmetry group of this $(2+1)$-nonlinear wave equation.

Lie symmetry analysis of the Grad-Shafranov equation

The theory of plasma physics offers a number of nontrivial examples of partial differential equations, which can be successfully treated with symmetry methods. We propose the Grad-Shafranov equation which may illustrate the reciprocal advantage of this interaction between plasma physics and symmetry techniques. A symmetry classification of the Grad-Shafranov equation with two arbitrary functions $F(u)$ and $G(u)$ of the unknown variable $u=u(x,t)$ is given. The optimal system of one-dimensional subalgebras is performed. This latter provides a process for building new solutions for the equation.

Lie symmetries of radiation natural convection flow past an inclined surface

Applying Lie symmetry method, we find the most general Lie point symmetries group of the radiation natural convection flow equation(RNC). Looking the adjoint representation of the obtained symmetry group on its Lie algebra, we will find the preliminary classification of its group-invariant solutions.

Classical and Nonclassical symmetries of the (2+1)-dimensional Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation

In this paper, we have studied the problem of determining the largest possible set of symmetries for an important example of nonlinear dynamical system: the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky (K-S) model in two spatial and one temporal dimensions. By applying the classical symmetry method for the K-S model, we have found the classical symmetry operators. Also, the structure of the Lie algebra of symmetries is discussed and the optimal system of subalgebras of the equation is constructed. The Lie invariants associated to the symmetry generators as well as the corresponding similarity reduced equations are also pointed out. By applying the nonclassical symmetry method for the K-S model we concluded that the analyzed model do not admit supplementary, nonclassical type, symmetries. Using this procedure, the classical Lie operators only were generated.

Group Analysis of Born-Infeld Equation

Lie symmetry group method is applied to study the Born-Infeld equation. The symmetry group and its optimal system are given, and group invariant solutions associated to the symmetries are obtained. Finally the structure of the Lie algebra symmetries is determined.

The algebraic hyperstructure of elementary particles in physical theory

Algebraic hyperstructures represent a natural extension of classical algebraic structures. In a classical algebraic structure, the composition of two elements is an element, while in an algebraic hyperstructure, the composition of two elements is a set. Algebraic hyperstructure theory has a multiplicity of applications to other disciplines. The main purpose of this paper is to provide examples of hyperstructures associated with elementary particles in physical theory.

Group Analysis via Weak Symmetries For Benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation

In this paper, weak symmetries of the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation have been investigated. Indeed, this method has been performed by applying the non-classical symmetries of the BBM equation and the infinitesimal generators of the classical symmetry algebra of the KdV equation as the starting constraints. Similarity reduced equations as well as some exact solutions of the BBM equation are obtained via this method.

Variational problems without having any non-trivial Lie variational symmetries

In this paper we construct variational problems without Lie non-trivial variational symmetry and solving them using new class of symmetries ($μ$-symmetry) which introduced by Guiseppe Gaeta and Paola Morando (2004). The central object in this paper is horizontal one-form $μ$ on first order jet space $J^1 M$.

Group classification of steady two-dimensional boundary-layer stagnation-point flow equations

Lie symmetry group method is applied to study the boundary-layer equations for two-dimensional steady flow of an incompressible, viscous fluid near a stagnation point at a heated stretching sheet placed in a porous medium equation. The symmetry group and its optimal system are given, and group invariant solutions associated to the symmetries are obtained. Finally the structure of the Lie algebra symmetries is determined.

Symmetry group classification for general Burger's equation

The present paper solves the problem of the group classification of the general Burgers' equation $u_t=f(x,u)u_x^2+g(x,u)u_{xx}$, where $f$ and $g$ are arbitrary smooth functions of the variable $x$ and $u$, by using Lie method. The paper is one of the few applications of an algebraic approach to the problem of group classification: the method of preliminary group classification. A number of new interesting nonlinear invariant models which have nontrivial invariance algebras are obtained. The result of the work is a wide class of equations summarized in table form.

Projective analysis and preliminary group classification of the nonlinear fin equation $u_t=(E(u)u_x)_x + h(x)u$

In this paper we investigate for further symmetry properties of the nonlinear fin equations of the general form $u_t=(E(u)u_x)_x + h(x)u$ rather than recent works on these equations. At first, we study the projective (fiber-preserving) symmetry to show that equations of the above class can not be reduced to linear equations. Then we determine an equivalence classification which admits an extension by one dimension of the principal Lie algebra of the equation. The invariant solutions of equivalence transformations and classification of nonlinear fin equations among with additional operators are also given.
