Delaunay solutions to the fractional Hartree equation with critical growth

We study positive solutions of the critical fractional Hartree equation with a non-removable isolated singularity at the origin. This equation is doubly nonlocal, involving both the fractional Laplacian and a Riesz convolution potential. We first prove that every positive singular solution is radially symmetric about the origin, by combining the Caffarelli--Silvestre extension with the method of moving spheres. We then establish the existence of Delaunay-type periodic singular solutions. After the Emden--Fowler transformation, the Hartree convolution survives as a genuinely nonlocal integral term, so that the resulting periodic equation cannot be reduced to an ordinary differential equation. We construct nonconstant periodic solutions for all sufficiently large periods by minimizing a Rayleigh-type quotient in a periodic fractional Sobolev space.

Blow-up asymptotics for a critical Hartree-type Br\'{e}zis--Nirenberg problem in dimension three

In this paper, we study the following critical Hartree problem \begin{equation}\label{equationabstract} \begin{cases} \displaystyle-\Delta u+(Q+\varepsilon V)u= A_{3,\mu} \left(\int_{\Omega}\frac{u^{6-\mu}(y)}{|x-y|^{\mu}}dy\right) u^{5-\mu} &\mathrm{~in~}\Omega,\\ \displaystyle u>0&\mathrm{~in~}\Omega,\\u=0&\mathrm{~on~}\partial\Omega,\end{cases} \end{equation} where $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3$ is a bounded open set, $0<\mu<2$, the exponent $6-\mu$ is the upper critical exponent in the sense of the Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequality and $A_{3,\mu}>0$ is a normalization constant. The function $Q$ is assumed to be critical in the sense of Hebey and Vaugon, and the solutions $u_{\varepsilon}$ of \eqref{equationabstract} are assumed to be an optimizing sequence for the Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequality. Under a natural nondegeneracy assumption, we derive a precise asymptotic expansion of \(u_{\varepsilon}\), determine the exact blow-up rate, and identify the concentration point. We also obtain the pointwise blow-up behavior both near and away from the concentration point.

Asymptotic behavior of solutions for the nonlinear Hartree equation involving the fractional Laplacian

In this paper, we investigate the nonlocal problem \begin{equation*}\left\lbrace \begin{aligned} &A_{s} u=(|x|^{-(n-2s)}\ast u^{2_{s}^{\sharp}-1-\epsilon})u^{2_{s}^{\sharp}-2-\epsilon} \quad\quad\hspace{3.5mm} \mbox{in}\hspace{2mm}\Omega,\\ &u>0\quad\quad \quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\hspace{2mm}\mbox{in}\hspace{2mm}\Omega,\\ &u=0\quad \quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\hspace{2mm}\mbox{on}\hspace{2mm}\partial\Omega,\end{aligned} \right.\end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$, $0 0$ small, $2_{s}^{\sharp}-1=(n+2s)/(n-2s)$ and $A_{s}$ stands for the spectral fractional Laplacian. For a general domain $\Omega$ or domains with convexity, we first prove a uniform $L^1$ bound away from the boundary and a uniform $L^{\infty}$ bound near the boundary for positive solutions to the general fractional Hartree-type PDEs by applying the moving planes method and integral estimates for the convolution term.Among these results, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions as $\epsilon\rightarrow0$.These solutions are shown to blow-up at exactly one point $x_0$ and location of this point is characterized. In addition, the shape and exact rates for blowing-up are studied. Finally,we also establish the corresponding main results for solutions of the fractional Brezis-Nirenberg problem involving critical Hartree-type nonlinearity.

Energy asymptotics and blow-up phenomena for biharmonic Br\'{e}zis-Nirenberg problem

For dimensions $n\geq8$, we are concerned with the quotient functional of the biharmonic Br\'{e}zis-Nirenberg problem under the Navier boundary condition $$ S(\varepsilon V):=\inf_{0\not\equiv u\in H^2(\Omega)\cap H_0^1(\Omega)}\frac{\int_{\Omega}|\Delta u|^2dx+\varepsilon\int_{\Omega}V|u|^2dx}{\big(\int_{\Omega}|u|^{2^\star}dx\big)^{2/2^\star}}, $$ where $2^\star=\frac{2n}{n-4}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent of the embedding $H^2(\Omega)\cap H_0^1(\Omega)\hookrightarrow L^{2^\star}(\Omega)$, $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ is a bounded open set and $V:\overline{\Omega}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function. Under certain assumptions on $V$, we establish sharp asymptotics for the energy difference $S(0)-S(\varepsilon V)$, as $\varepsilon\rightarrow0^+$, by means of matching upper and lower bound estimates. Moreover, we give a precise description of the blow-up profile of (almost) minimizing sequences and characterize the blow-up rate and the location of concentration points.

Asymptotic behavior of solutions to a planar Hartree equation with isolated singularities

In this paper we investigate the isolated singularities of the Hartree type equation \begin{equation*} -\Delta u (x)= \left(\frac{1}{|x|^\alpha}*e^u\right)e^{u(x)}\quad \text{in } B_{1}\setminus\{0\} , \end{equation*} where $\alpha>0$, $\displaystyle \frac{1}{|x|^\alpha}*e^u\triangleq\int_{B_{1} \setminus \{0\}}\frac{e^u(y)}{|x-y|^\alpha}dy$, and the punctured ball $B_{1}\setminus\{0\}\subset \mathbb{R}^2$. Under the finite total curvature condition, by establishing a representation formula for singular solutions, we obtain the asymptotic behavior of the solutions near the origin. We also extend this asymptotic behavior results to the case with a general non-negative coefficient $K(x)$, and to the higher-order Hartree-type equations in any dimension $n \geq 3$.

Qualitative properties of blowing-up solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations with critical Sobolev exponent

In this paper, we are concerned with the critical elliptic equation \begin{equation}\label{kx} \left\lbrace\begin{aligned} &-\Delta u=u^{p}+\epsilon \kappa(x)u^{q}\quad\hspace{2mm} \mbox{in}~~\Omega, \\&u>0\quad \quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\hspace{1mm}\hspace{0.5mm}~\mbox{in}~~\Omega \\&u=0\quad \quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\quad\hspace{1mm}\hspace{0.5mm}~\mbox{on}~\partial\Omega, \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation} where $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ for $N\geq3$, $p=(N+2)/(N-2)$, $1 0$ is a small parameter. If $\kappa(x)=1$, by applying the various identities of derivatives of Green's function and the rescaled functions, with blow-up analysis, we first provide a number of estimates on the first $(N+2)$-eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions, and prove the qualitative behavior of the eigenpairs $(\lambda_{i,\epsilon}, v_{i,\epsilon})$ to the eigenvalue problem of the elliptic equation \eqref{kx} for $i=1,\cdots,N+2$. As a consequence, we have that the Morse index of a single-bubble solution is $N+1$ if the Hessian matrix of the Robin function is nondegenerate at a blow-up point. Moreover, if $\kappa(x)\in C^2(\overline{\Omega})$, we show that, for $\epsilon>0$ small, the asymptotic behavior of the solutions and nondegeneracy of the solutions for the problem \eqref{kx} under a nondegeneracy condition on the blow-up point of a "mixture" of both the matrix $\kappa(x)$ and Robin function.

Compactness of Extremals for Singular Anisotropic Trudinger-Moser functionals on bounded domain

In this paper, we investigate the compactness of extremal functions for a critical singular anisotropic Trudinger-Moser inequality established by Lu-Shen-Xue-Zhu\cite{ref1}. We prove by means of blow-up analysis that the extremals $u_{\beta}$ converge in $W_{0}^{1,n}(\Omega)\cap C^{1}(\overline{\Omega})$ to some function $u_{0}$ which achieves the supremum \begin{equation} \sup\limits_{u\in W_{0}^{1,n}(\Omega),\Vert u\Vert_{F(\Omega)}\leq1}\int_{\Omega}^{}e^{\tau_{n}\vert u\vert^{\frac{n}{n-1}}}dx,\notag \end{equation} as $\beta\to 0$, where $\tau_{n}=n^{\frac{n}{n-1}}\kappa_{n}^{\frac{1}{n-1}}$, $\kappa_{n}$ denotes the volume of the unit Wulff ball in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ and $\Vert u\Vert_{F(\Omega)}$ is the anisotropic norm of $u$.

Boundary regularity of weakly coupled vectorial almost-minimizers for Alt-Caffarelli functionals with non-standard growth

For a fixed constant $\lambda > 0$ and a bounded Lipschitz domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ with $n \geq 2$, we establish that almost-minimizers (functions satisfying a sort of variational inequality) of the Alt-Caffarelli type functional \[ \mathcal{J}_G({\bf v};\Omega) \coloneqq \int_\Omega \left(\sum_{i=1}^mG\big(|\nabla v_i(x)|\big) + \lambda \chi_{\{|{\bf v}|>0\}}(x)\right) dx , \] where ${\bf v} = (v_1, \dots, v_m)$ and $m \in \mathbb{N}$, exhibit optimal (up-to-the boundary) Lipschitz continuity, where $G$ is a $\mathcal{N}$-function satisfying specific growth conditions. Our work extends the recent regularity results for weakly coupled vectorial almost-minimizers for the $p$-Laplacian addressed in \cite{BFS24}, thereby providing new insights and approaches applicable to a wide class of non-linear one or two-phase free boundary problems with non-standard growth. Our findings remain novel and significant even in the scalar setting and for minimizers of the type considered by Mart\'{i}nez--Wolanski \cite{MW08} and da Silva \textit{et al.} \cite{daSSV2024}.

Qualitative properties of single blow-up solutions for nonlinear Hartree equation with slightly subcritical exponent

In this paper, we study the qualitative properties of single blow-up solutions to the nonlocal equations with slightly subcritical exponents \begin{equation*} -\Delta u=(|x|^{-(n-2)}\ast u^{p-\epsilon})u^{p-1-\epsilon}\quad \mbox{in}~~\Omega,~~ u=0\quad \mbox{on}~~\partial\Omega, \end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n=3,4,5$, $\ast$ denotes the standard convolution, $\epsilon>0$ is a small parameter and $p=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$ is $\mathcal{D}^{1,2}$ energy-critical exponent. By exploiting various local Pohozaev identities and blow-up analysis, we provide a number of estimates on the first $(n+2)$-eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions, and examine the qualitative behavior of the eigenpairs $(\lambda_{i,\epsilon}, v_{i,\epsilon})$ to the linearied problem of the above nonlocal equations for $i=1,\cdots,n+2$. As a corollary, we derive the Morse index of a single-bubble solution in a nondegenerate setting.

Asymptotic behavior of least energy solutions to the nonlinear Hartree equation near critical exponent

In this paper, we study that the nearly critical nonlocal problem \begin{equation*} \left\lbrace \begin{aligned} &-\Delta u=(|x|^{-{(n-2)}}\ast u^{p-\epsilon})u^{p-1-\epsilon} \quad \mbox{in}\quad \Omega, &u>0\quad \mbox{in}\quad\hspace{1mm} \Omega, &u=0\quad \mbox{on}\hspace{2.5mm}\partial\Omega, \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n=3,4,5$, $\ast$ denotes the standard convolution, $\epsilon>0$ is a small parameter and $p=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$ is energy-critical exponent. We study the asymptotic behavior of least energy solutions as $\epsilon\rightarrow0$. These solutions are shown to blow-up at exactly one point $x_0$ and location of this point is characterized. In addition, the shape and exact rates for blowing-up are studied. Finally, in order to further locate the blowing-up point $x_0$, we prove that $x_0$ is a global maximum point of the Robin's function of $\Omega$.

Regularity theory for mixed local-nonlocal problem involving general stable operators

In this paper, we study the regularity of solutions to a linear elliptic equation involving a mixed local-nonlocal operator of the form $$Lu - \operatorname{div}\big(a(x)\nabla u(x)\big)= f, \quad \text{in } \Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n,$$ where $L$ is a general stable L\'{e}vy type operator and $a(\cdot)$ is a positive H\"{o}lder continuous weight. By establishing a maximum principle and a Liouville-type result in the entire space, we are able to derive the interior regularity and the regularity up to the boundary of the solutions under suitable assumptions on $f(x)$ and $a(x)$ .

Nondegeneracy of positive solutions for critical Hartree equation on Heisenberg group and it's applications

We study the uniqueness and nondegeneracy of positive bubble solutions for the generalized energy-critical Hartree equation on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, \begin{equation}\label{0.1} -\Delta_{\mathbb{H}}u=\left(\int_{\mathbb{H}^{n}}\frac{|u(\eta)|^{Q^{\ast}_{\mu}}}{|\eta^{-1}\xi|^{\mu}}\mathrm{d}\eta\right)|u|^{Q^{\ast}_{\mu}-2}u,~~~\xi,\eta\in\mathbb{H}^{n}, \end{equation} where $\Delta_{\mathbb{H}}$ represents the Kohn Laplacian, $u(\eta)$ is a real-valued function, $Q=2n+2$ is the homogeneous dimension of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, $\mu\in (0,Q)$ is a real parameter and $Q^{\ast}_{\mu}$ is the upper critical exponent following the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on the Heisenberg group. By applying the Cayley transform, the spherical harmonic decomposition and the Funk-Hecke formula of the spherical harmonic function, we prove the nondegeneracy of positive bubble solutions for (\ref{0.1}). As an applications, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the solutions for the Brezis-Nirenberg type problem as $\varepsilon\rightarrow 0$ \begin{equation}\label{0.2} \left\{ \begin{aligned} &-\Delta_{\mathbb{H}}u=\varepsilon u+\left(\int_{\Omega}\frac{|u(\eta)|^{Q^{\ast}_{\mu}}}{|\eta^{-1}\xi|^{\mu}}\mathrm{d}\eta \right)|u|^{Q^{\ast}_{\mu}-2}u,~~&&\mathrm{in}~\Omega\subset \mathbb{H}^{n}, &u=0,~~&&\mathrm{on}~\partial\Omega. \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation}

Lipschitz regularity of weakly coupled vectorial almost-minimizers for Alt-Caffarelli functionals in Orlicz spaces

For a fixed constant $\lambda > 0$ and a bounded Lipschitz domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ with $n \geq 2$, we establish that almost-minimizers (functions satisfying a sort of variational inequality) of the Alt-Caffarelli type functional \[ \mathcal{J}_G({\bf v};\Omega) \coloneqq \int_\Omega \left(\sum_{i=1}^mG\big(|\nabla v_i(x)|\big) + \lambda \chi_{\{|{\bf v}|>0\}}(x)\right) dx , \] where ${\bf v} = (v_1, \dots, v_m)$ and $m \in \mathbb{N}$, exhibit optimal Lipschitz continuity on compact subsets of $\Omega$, where $G$ is a Young function satisfying specific growth conditions. Furthermore, we obtain universal gradient estimates for non-negative almost-minimizers in the interior of non-coincidence sets. %{\color{blue}Furthermore, under the additional convexity assumption on $G$, we address the problem of boundary Lipschitz regularity for $v$ by adopting a fundamentally different analytical approach.} Notably, this method also provides an alternative proof of the optimal local Lipschitz regularity in the domain's interior. Our work extends the recent regularity results for weakly coupled vectorial almost-minimizers for the $p$-Laplacian addressed in \cite{BFS24}, and even the scalar case treated in \cite{daSSV}, \cite{DiPFFV24} and \cite{PelegTeix24}, thereby providing new insights and approaches applicable to a variety of non-linear one or two-phase free boundary problems with non-standard growth.

Local asymptotics for singular solutions to critical Hartree equations

We investigate the qualitative properties of a critical Hartree equation defined on punctured domains. Our study has two main objectives: analyzing the asymptotic behavior near isolated singularities and establishing radial symmetry of positive singular solutions. First, employing asymptotic analysis, we characterize the local behavior of solutions near the singularity. Specifically, we show that, within a punctured ball, solutions behave like the blow-up limit profile. This is achieved through classification results for entire bubble solutions, a standard blow-up procedure, and a removable singularity theorem, yielding sharp upper and lower bounds near the origin. To run the blow-up analysis, we develop an asymptotic integral version of the moving spheres technique, a technique of independent interest. Second, we establish the radial symmetry of blow-up limit solutions using an integral moving spheres method. On the technical level, we apply the integral dual method from Jin, Li, Xiong \cite{MR3694645, arxiv:1901.01678} to provide local asymptotic estimates within the punctured ball and to prove that solutions in the entire punctured space are radially symmetric with respect to the origin. Our results extend seminal theorems of Caffarelli, Gidas, and Spruck \cite{MR982351} to the setting of Hartree equations.

Remainder terms, profile decomposition and sharp quantitative stability in the fractional nonlocal Sobolev-type inequality with $n>2s$

In this paper, we study the following fractional nonlocal Sobolev-type inequality \begin{equation*} C_{HLS}\bigg(\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\big(|x|^{-\mu} \ast |u|^{p_s}\big)|u|^{p_s} dx\bigg)^{\frac{1}{p_s}}\leq\|u\|_{\dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^n)}^2\quad \mbox{for all}~~u\in \dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^n), \end{equation*} induced by the classical fractional Sobolev inequality and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for $s\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$, $\mu\in(0,n)$ and where $p_{s}=\frac{2n-\mu}{n-2s}\geq2$ is energy-critical exponent. The $C_{HLS}>0$ is a constant depending on the dimension $n$, parameters $s$ and $\mu$, which can be achieved by $W(x)$, and up to translation and scaling, $W(x)$ is the unique positive and radially symmetric extremal function of the nonlocal Sobolev-type inequality. It is well-known that, up to a suitable scaling, \begin{equation*} (-\Delta)^{s}u=(|x|^{-\mu}\ast |u|^{p_s})|u|^{p_s-2}u\quad \mbox{for all}~~u\in\dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^n), \end{equation*} is the Euler-Lagrange equation corresponding to the associated minimization problem. In this paper, we first prove the non-degeneracy of positive solutions to the critical Hartree equation for all $s\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$, $\mu\in(0,n)$ with $0<\mu\leq4s$. Furthermore, we show the existence of a gradient type remainder term and, as a corollary, derive the existence of a remainder term in the weak $L^{\frac{n}{n-2s}}$-norm for functions supported in domains of finite measure, under the condition $s\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$. Finally, we establish a Struwe-type profile decomposition and quantitative stability estimates for critical points of the above inequality in the parameter region $s\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$ with the number of bubbles $\kappa\geq1$, and for $\mu\in(0,n)$ with $0<\mu\leq4s$. In particular, we provide an example to illustrate the sharpness of our result for $n=6s$ and $\mu=4s$.

Multiplicity of solutions for singular elliptic problems with Stein-Weiss term

In the present work, we establish the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for the singular elliptic equations with a double weighted nonlocal interaction term defined in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^N$. The nonlocal term and the fact that the energy functional is not differentiable are the main difficulties for this kind of problem. We apply the Nehari method and the nonlinear Rayleigh quotient to prove that our main problem has at least two positive weak solutions. Furthermore, we prove a nonexistence result related to the extreme $\lambda^*> 0$ given by the nonlinear Rayleigh quotient.

Stability estimates for critical points of a nonlocal Sobolev-type inequality

In this paper, we study the stability of the following nonlocal Soblev-type inequality \begin{equation*} C_{HLS}\big(\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\big(|x|^{-\mu} \ast u^{p}\big)u^{p} dx\big)^{\frac{1}{p}}\leq\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}|\nabla u|^2 dx , \quad \forall~u\in D^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^n), \end{equation*} which is induced by the classical Sobolev inequality and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, where $p=\frac{2n-\mu}{n-2}$, $n\geq3$ and $\mu\in(0,n)$, is energy-critical exponent and $C_{HLS}$ is the best constant depending on $n$ and $\mu$. Up to translation and scaling, the best constant of the nonlocal Soblev inequality can be achieved by a unique family of positive and radially symmetric extremal function $W(x)$ that satisfies, up to a suitable scaling, the classical critical Hartree equation \begin{equation*} \Delta u+(|x|^{-\mu}\ast u^{p})u^{p-1}=0 \quad \mbox{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^n. \end{equation*} Recently, Piccione, Yang and Zhao in \cite{p-y-z24} established a nonlocal version of Struwe's profile decomposition and they only proved the nonlocal version of the quantitative stability for the one bubble case without dimension restriction and the multiple bubbles case $\kappa\geq2$ if dimension $3\leq n<6-\mu$ and $\mu\in(0,n)$ with $\mu\in(0,4]$ in Ciraolo-Figalli-Maggi \cite{CFM18} and Figalli-Glaudo \cite{FG20}. We establish the quantitative stability estimates for critical point of the nonlocal Soblev inequality for $n\geq6-\mu$ and $\mu\in(0,4)$, which is an extension of the recent works by Deng-Sun-Wei in \cite{DSW21} for the classical Sobolev inequality.

On elliptic equations with N-independent stable operators

We investigate the positive solutions of the semilinear elliptic equation \begin{align*} \sum^{N}_{i=1}\left(-\partial_{ii}\right)^{s}u=u^{p} \end{align*} with one-dimensional symmetric $2s$-stable operators. Firstly, in the whole space $\R^{N}$, we establish the nonexistence of positive supersolutions for $1 \frac{N}{N-2s}$. It is crucial for these solutions to exhibit suitable decay at infinity to compensate for the absence of the Kelvin transform. Notably, while these solutions are symmetric, they are not radially symmetric due to the non-rotational invariance of the operator involved. Next, in the half space $\R_{+}^{N}$, we observe the nonexistence of positive supersolutions in the region $1<p\leq\frac{N+s}{N-s}$. Additionally, we find that positive solutions with appropriate decay for the Dirichlet boundary problem do not exist. Finally, we present the symmetry of positive solutions in the unit ball $B_{1}$.
