Stability estimates for critical points of a nonlocal Sobolev-type inequality

In this paper, we study the stability of the following nonlocal Soblev-type inequality \begin{equation*} C_{HLS}\big(\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\big(|x|^{-μ} \ast u^{p}\big)u^{p} dx\big)^{\frac{1}{p}}\leq\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}|\nabla u|^2 dx , \quad \forall~u\in D^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^n), \end{equation*} which is induced by the classical Sobolev inequality and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, where $p=\frac{2n-μ}{n-2}$, $n\geq3$ and $μ\in(0,n)$, is energy-critical exponent and $C_{HLS}$ is the best constant depending on $n$ and $μ$. Up to translation and scaling, the best constant of the nonlocal Soblev inequality can be achieved by a unique family of positive and radially symmetric extremal function $W(x)$ that satisfies, up to a suitable scaling, the classical critical Hartree equation \begin{equation*} Δu+(|x|^{-μ}\ast u^{p})u^{p-1}=0 \quad \mbox{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^n. \end{equation*} Recently, Piccione, Yang and Zhao in \cite{p-y-z24} established a nonlocal version of Struwe's profile decomposition and they only proved the nonlocal version of the quantitative stability for the one bubble case without dimension restriction and the multiple bubbles case $κ\geq2$ if dimension $3\leq n<6-μ$ and $μ\in(0,n)$ with $μ\in(0,4]$ in Ciraolo-Figalli-Maggi \cite{CFM18} and Figalli-Glaudo \cite{FG20}. We establish the quantitative stability estimates for critical point of the nonlocal Soblev inequality for $n\geq6-μ$ and $μ\in(0,4)$, which is an extension of the recent works by Deng-Sun-Wei in \cite{DSW21} for the classical Sobolev inequality.

On elliptic equations with N-independent stable operators

We investigate the positive solutions of the semilinear elliptic equation \begin{align*} \sum^{N}_{i=1}\left(-\partial_{ii}\right)^{s}u=u^{p} \end{align*} with one-dimensional symmetric $2s$-stable operators. Firstly, in the whole space $\R^{N}$, we establish the nonexistence of positive supersolutions for $1 \frac{N}{N-2s}$. It is crucial for these solutions to exhibit suitable decay at infinity to compensate for the absence of the Kelvin transform. Notably, while these solutions are symmetric, they are not radially symmetric due to the non-rotational invariance of the operator involved. Next, in the half space $\R_{+}^{N}$, we observe the nonexistence of positive supersolutions in the region $1<p\leq\frac{N+s}{N-s}$. Additionally, we find that positive solutions with appropriate decay for the Dirichlet boundary problem do not exist. Finally, we present the symmetry of positive solutions in the unit ball $B_{1}$.

Asymptotic behavior of solutions for a critical heat equation with nonlocal reaction

In this paper, we consider the following nonlocal parabolic equation \begin{equation*} u_{t}-Δu=\left( \int_Ω\frac{|u(y,t)|^{2^{\ast}_μ}}{|x-y|^μ}dy\right) |u|^{2^{\ast}_μ-2}u,\ \text{in}\ Ω\times(0,\infty), \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$, $0<μ<N$ and $2^{\ast}_μ=(2N-μ)/(N-2)$ denotes the critical exponent in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. We first introduce the stable and unstable sets for the equation and prove that the problem has a potential well structure. Next, we investigate the global asymptotic behavior of the solutions. In particular, we study the behavior of the global solutions that intersect neither with the stable set nor the unstable set. Finally, we prove that global solutions have $L^{\infty}$-uniform bound under some natural conditions.

Single-peak and multi-peak solutions for Hamiltonian elliptic systems in dimension two

This paper is concerned with the Hamiltonian elliptic system in dimension two\begin{equation*}\aligned \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} -ε^2Δu+V(x)u=g(v)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2,\\ -ε^2Δv+V(x)v=f(u)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2, \end{array}\right.\endaligned \end{equation*} where $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^2)$ has local minimum points, and $f,g\in C^1(\mathbb{R})$ are assumed to be of exponential growth in the sense of Trudinger-Moser inequality. When $V$ admits one or several local strict minimum points, we show the existence and concentration of single-peak and multi-peak semiclassical states respectively, as well as strong convergence and exponential decay. In addition, positivity of solutions and uniqueness of local maximum points of solutions are also studied. Our theorems extend the results of Ramos and Tavares [Calc. Var. 31 (2008) 1-25], where $f$ and $g$ have polynomial growth. It seems that it is the first attempt to obtain multi-peak semiclassical states for Hamiltonian elliptic system with exponential growth.

Existence of infinitely many solutions for a critical Hartree type equation with potential: local Pohožaev identities methods

This paper deals with the following equation $$-Δu =K(|x'|, x'')\Big(|x|^{-α}\ast (K(|x'|, x'')|u|^{2^{\ast}_α})\Big) |u|^{2^{\ast}_α-2}u\quad\mbox{in}\ \mathbb{R}^N,$$ where $N\geq5$, $α>5-\frac{6}{N-2}$, $2^{\ast}_α=\frac{2N-α}{N-2}$ is the so-called upper critical exponent in the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality and $K(|x'|, x'')$, where $(x',x'')\in \mathbb{R}^2\times\mathbb{R}^{N-2}$, is bounded and nonnegative. Under proper assumptions on the potential function $K$, we obtain the existence of infinitely many solutions for the nonlocal critical equation by using a finite dimensional reduction argument and local Pohožaev identities. It is a remarkable fact that the order of the Riesz potential influences the existence/non-existence of solutions.

Nondegeneracy of positive solutions for a biharmonic hartree equation and its applications

In this paper, we are interested in some problems related to the following biharmonic hartree equation \begin{equation*} Δ^{2} u=(|x|^{-α}\ast |u|^{p})u^{p-1},\sp \text{in}\quad\R^N. \end{equation*} where $p=\frac{2N-α}{N-4}$, $N\geq 9$ and $0<α<N$. First, by using the spherical harmonic decomposition and the Funk-Heck formula of the spherical harmonic functions, we prove the nondegeneracy of the positive solutions of the above biharmonic equation. As applications, we investigate the stability of a version of nonlocal Sobolev inequality \begin{equation} \int_{\R^N}|Δu|^{2} \geq S^{*}\left( \int_{\R^N}\Big(|x|^{-α}\ast |u|^{p}\Big)u^{p} dx\right)^{\frac{1}{p}}, \end{equation} and give a gradient form remainder. Moreover, by applying a finite dimension reduction and local Poho$\check{z}$aev identity, we can also construct multi-bubble solutions for the following equation with potential \begin{equation*} Δ^2 u+V(|x'|, x'')u =\Big(|x|^{-α}\ast |u|^{p}\Big)u^{p-1}\hspace{4.14mm}x\in \mathbb{R}^N. \end{equation*} where $N\geq9$, $(x',x'')\in \mathbb{R}^2\times\mathbb{R}^{N-2}$ and $V(|x'|, x'')$ is a bounded and nonnegative function. We will show what is the role fo the dimension and the order of the Riesz potential in proving the existence result. In fact, the existence result is restricted to the range $6-\frac{12}{N-4}\leqα<N$.

Quantitative stability of a nonlocal Sobolev inequality

In this paper, we study the quantitative stability of the nonlocal Soblev inequality \begin{equation*} S_{HL}\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\big(|x|^{-μ} \ast |u|^{2_μ^{\ast}}\big)|u|^{2_μ^{\ast}} dx\right)^{\frac{1}{2_μ^{\ast}}}\leq\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|\nabla u|^2 dx , \quad \forall~u\in \mathcal{D}^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{equation*} where $2_μ^{\ast}=\frac{2N-μ}{N-2}$ and $S_{HL}$ is a positive constant depending only on $N$ and $μ$. For $N\geq3$, and $0<μ<N$, it is well-known that, up to translation and scaling, the nonlocal Soblev inequality has a unique extremal function $W[ξ,λ]$ which is positive and radially symmetric. We first prove a result of quantitative stability of the nonlocal Soblev inequality with the level of gradients. Secondly, we also establish the stability of profile decomposition to the Euler-Lagrange equation of the above inequality for nonnegative functions. Finally we study the stability of the nonlocal Soblev inequality \begin{equation*} \Big\|\nabla u-\sum_{i=1}^κ\nabla W[ξ_i,λ_i]\Big\|_{L^2}\leq C\Big\|Δu+\left(\frac{1}{|x|^μ}\ast |u|^{2_μ^{\ast}}\right)|u|^{2_μ^{\ast}-2}u\Big\|_{(\mathcal{D}^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N))^{-1}} \end{equation*} with the parameter region $κ\geq2$, $3\leq N<6-μ$, $μ\in(0,N)$ satisfying $0<μ\leq4$, or dimension $N\geq3$ and $κ=1$, $μ\in(0,N)$ satisfying $0<μ\leq4$.

Remainder terms of a nonlocal Sobolev inequality1

In this note we study a nonlocal version of the Sobolev inequality \begin{equation*} \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|\nabla u|^2 dx \geq S_{HLS}\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\big(|x|^{-α} \ast u^{2_α^{\ast}}\big)u^{2_α^{\ast}} dx\right)^{\frac{1}{2_α^{\ast}}}, \quad \forall u\in \mathcal{D}^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{equation*} where $S_{HLS}$ is the best constant, $\ast$ denotes the standard convolution and $\mathcal{D}^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ denotes the classical Sobolev space with respect to the norm $\|u\|_{\mathcal{D}^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N)}=\|\nabla u\|_{L^2(\mathbb{R}^N)}$. By using the nondegeneracy property of the extremal functions, we prove that the existence of the gradient type remainder term and a reminder term in the weak $L^{\frac{N}{N-2}}$-norm of above inequality for all $0<α<N$.

Stein-Weiss type inequality on the upper half space and its applications

In this paper, we establish some Stein-Weiss type inequalities with general kernels on the upper half space and study the existence of extremal functions for this inequality with the optimal constant. Furthermore, we also investigate the regularity, asymptotic estimates, symmetry and non-existence results of the positive solutions of the corresponding Euler-Lagrange integral system. As an application, we finally derive some Liouville type results for the Hartree type equations in the half space.

On a critical Maxwell equation in nonlocal media

In this paper, we study the existence of solutions for a critical time-harmonic Maxwell equation in nonlocal media. By introducing some suitable Coulomb spaces involving curl operator, we are able to obtain the ground state solutions of the curl-curl equation via the method of constraining Nehari-Pankov manifold. Correspondingly, some sharp constants of the Sobolev-like inequalities with curl operator are obtained by a nonlocal version of the concentration-compactness principle.

Construction of infinitely many solutions for a critical Choquard equation via local Pohožaev identities

In this paper, we study a class of the critical Choquard equations with axisymmetric potentials, $$ -Δu+ V(|x'|,x'')u =\Big(|x|^{-4}\ast |u|^{2}\Big)u\hspace{4.14mm}\mbox{in}\hspace{1.14mm} \mathbb{R}^6, $$ where $(x',x'')\in \mathbb{R}^2\times\mathbb{R}^{4}$, $V(|x'|, x'')$ is a bounded nonnegative function in $\mathbb{R}^{+}\times\mathbb{R}^{4}$, and $*$ stands for the standard convolution. The equation is critical in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. By applying a finite dimensional reduction argument and developing novel local Pohožaev identities, we prove that if the function $r^2V(r,x'')$ has a topologically nontrivial critical point then the problem admits infinitely many solutions with arbitrary large energies.

Local Uniqueness of blow-up solutions for critical Hartree equations in bounded domain

In this paper we are interested in the following critical Hartree equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -Δu =\displaystyle{\Big(\int_Ω\frac{u^{2_μ^\ast} (ξ)}{|x-ξ|^μ}dξ\Big)u^{2_μ^\ast-1}}+\varepsilon u ,~~~\text{in}~Ω,\\ u=0,~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\text{on}~\partialΩ, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $N\geq4$, $0<μ\leq4$, $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, and $2_μ^\ast=\frac{2N-μ}{N-2}$ is the critical exponent in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. By establishing various versions of local Pohozaev identities and applying blow-up analysis, we first investigate the location of the blow-up points for single bubbling solutions to above the Hartree equation. Next we prove the local uniqueness of the blow-up solutions that concentrates at the non-degenerate critical point of the Robin function for $\varepsilon$ small.

Localized semiclassical states for Hamiltonian elliptic systems in dimension two

In this paper, we consider the Hamiltonian elliptic system in dimension two\begin{equation}\label{1.5}\aligned \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} -ε^2Δu+V(x)u=g(v)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2,\\ -ε^2Δv+V(x)v=f(u)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2, \end{array}\right.\endaligned \end{equation} where $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^2)$ has local minimum points, and $f,g\in C^1(\mathbb{R})$ are assumed to be either superlinear or asymptotically linear at infinity and of subcritical exponential growth in the sense of Trudinger-Moser inequality. Under only a local condition on $V$, we obtain a family of semiclassical states concentrating around local minimum points of $V$. In addition, in the case that $f$ and $g$ are superlinear at infinity, the decay and positivity of semiclassical states are also given. The proof is based on a reduction method, variational methods and penalization techniques.

On elliptic equations with Stein-Weiss type convolution parts

The aim of this paper is to study the critical elliptic equations with Stein-Weiss type convolution parts $$ \displaystyle-Δu =\frac{1}{|x|^α}\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^{N}}\frac{|u(y)|^{2_{α, μ}^{\ast}}}{|x-y|^μ|y|^α}dy\right) |u|^{2_{α, μ}^{\ast}-2}u,~~~x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where the critical exponent is due to the weighted Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality and Sobolev embedding. We develop a nonlocal version of concentration-compactness principle to investigate the existence of solutions and study the regularity, symmetry of positive solutions by moving plane arguments. In the second part, the subcritical case is also considered, the existence, symmetry, regularity of the positive solutions are obtained.

High energy positive solutions for a coupled Hartree system with Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev critical exponents

We study the coupled Hartree system $$ \left\{\begin{array}{ll} -Δu+ V_1(x)u =α_1\big(|x|^{-4}\ast u^{2}\big)u+β\big(|x|^{-4}\ast v^{2}\big)u &\mbox{in}\ \mathbb{R}^N,\\[1mm] -Δv+ V_2(x)v =α_2\big(|x|^{-4}\ast v^{2}\big)v +β\big(|x|^{-4}\ast u^{2}\big)v &\mbox{in}\ \mathbb{R}^N, \end{array}\right. $$ where $N\geq 5$, $β>\max\{α_1,α_2\}\geq\min\{α_1,α_2\}>0$, and $V_1,\,V_2\in L^{N/2}(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap L_{\text{loc}}^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ are nonnegative potentials. This system is critical in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. For the system with $V_1=V_2=0$ we employ moving sphere arguments in integral form to classify positive solutions and to prove the uniqueness of positive solutions up to translation and dilation, which is of independent interest. Then using the uniqueness property, we establish a nonlocal version of the global compactness lemma and prove the existence of a high energy positive solution for the system assuming that $|V_1|_{L^{N/2}(\mathbb{R}^N)}+|V_2|_{L^{N/2}(\mathbb{R}^N)}>0$ is suitably small.
