Quantum phase gate for optical qubits with cavity quantum optomechanics

We show that a cavity optomechanical system formed by a mechanical resonator simultaneously coupled to two modes of an optical cavity can be used for the implementation of a deterministic quantum phase gate between optical qubits associated with the two intracavity modes. The scheme is realizable for sufficiently strong single-photon optomechanical coupling in the resolved sideband regime, and is robust against cavity losses.

Reservoir engineering of a mechanical resonator: generating a macroscopic superposition state and monitoring its decoherence

A deterministic scheme for generating a macroscopic superposition state of a nanomechanical resonator is proposed. The nonclassical state is generated through a suitably engineered dissipative dynamics exploiting the optomechanical quadratic interaction with a bichromatically driven optical cavity mode. The resulting driven dissipative dynamics can be employed for monitoring and testing the decoherence processes affecting the nanomechanical resonator under controlled conditions.

Cavity Optomechanics with a Bose-Einstein Condensate: Normal Mode Splitting

We study the normal mode splitting in a system consisting of a Bose Einstein condensates (BECs) trapped inside a Fabry Perot cavity driven by a single mode laser field. We analyze the variations in frequency and damping rate of the collective density excitation of a BEC imparted by the optical field. We study the occurrence of normal mode splitting which appears as consequences of the hybridization of the fluctuations of the intracavity field and the condensate mode. It is shown that normal mode splitting vanishes for weak coupling between the condensate mode and the intracavity field. Moreover, we investigate the normal mode splitting in the transmission spectrum of the cavity field.

Engineering entanglement mechanically

We propose entanglement for hybrid optomechanical system consisting of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) inside a single-mode high-Q Fabry-Perot cavity with a vibrating end mirror (mechanical mirror). The intracavity field couples the vibrating end mirror with collective atomic density of the BEC. We show that the radiation pressure generates the stationary entanglement of three bipartite subsystems, i.e, field-mechanical mirror, field-BEC and mechanical mirror-atoms. The resulting entanglement is fragile with respect to temperature.

Steady-state entanglement of a Bose-Einstein condensate and a nanomechanical resonator

We analyze the steady-state entanglement between Bose-Einstein condensate trapped inside an optical cavity with a moving end mirror (nanomechanical resonator) driven by a single mode laser. The quantized laser field mediates the interaction between the Bose-Einstein condensate and nanomechanical resonator. In particular, we study the influence of temperature on the entanglement of the coupled system, and note that the steady-state entanglement is fragile with respect to temperature.
