$\lambda$-Griffiths polynomials: Bispectrality and biorthogonality

We introduce a generalization of bivariate Griffiths polynomials depending on an additional parameter $\lambda$. These $\lambda$-Griffiths polynomials are bivariate, bispectral and biorthogonal. For two specific values of the parameter $\lambda$, they become orthogonal. One of the value is related to the usual bivariate Griffiths polynomials, while the second value produces new orthogonal bivariate polynomials.

Superspace realizations of the Bannai-Ito algebra

A model of the Bannai-Ito algebra in a superspace is introduced. It is obtained from the three-fold tensor product of the basic realization of the Lie superalgebra $osp(1|2)$ in terms of operators in one continuous and one Grassmanian variable. The basis vectors of the resulting Bannai-Ito algebra module involve Jacobi polynomials.

Bivariate $P$-polynomial association schemes

Bivariate P-polynomial association scheme of type $(\alpha,\beta)$ are defined as a generalization of the P-polynomial association schemes. This generalization is shown to be equivalent to a set of conditions on the intersection parameters. A number of known higher rank association schemes are seen to belong to this broad class. Bivariate Q-polynomial association schemes are similarly defined.

Time and band limiting operator and Bethe ansatz

The time and band limiting operator is introduced to optimize the reconstruction of a signal from only a partial part of its spectrum. In the discrete case, this operator commutes with the so-called algebraic Heun operator which appears in the context of the quantum integrable systems. The construction of both operators and the proof of their commutativity is recalled. A direct connection between their spectra is obtained. Then, the Bethe ansatz, a well-known method to diagonalize integrable quantum Hamiltonians, is used to diagonalize the Heun operator and to obtain insights on the spectrum of the time and band limiting operator.

The missing label of $\mathfrak{su}_3$ and its symmetry

We present explicit formulas for the operators providing missing labels for the tensor product of two irreducible representations of $\mathfrak{su}_3$. The result is seen as a particular representation of the diagonal centraliser of $\mathfrak{su}_3$ through a pair of tridiagonal matrices. Using these explicit formulas, we investigate the symmetry of this missing label problem and we find a symmetry group of order 144 larger than what can be expected from the natural symmetries. Several realisations of this symmetry group are given, including an interpretation as a subgroup of the Weyl group of type $E_6$, which appeared in an earlier work as the symmetry group of the diagonal centraliser. Using the combinatorics of the root system of type $E_6$, we provide a family of representations of the diagonal centraliser by infinite tridiagonal matrices, from which all the finite-dimensional representations affording the missing label can be extracted. Besides, some connections with the Hahn algebra, Heun--Hahn operators and Bethe ansatz are discussed along with some similarities with the well-known symmetries of the Clebsch--Gordan coefficients.

A Calabi-Yau algebra with $E_6$ symmetry and the Clebsch-Gordan series of $sl(3)$

Building on classical invariant theory, it is observed that the polarised traces generate the centraliser $Z_L(sl(N))$ of the diagonal embedding of $U(sl(N))$ in $U(sl(N))^{\otimes L}$. The paper then focuses on $sl(3)$ and the case $L=2$. A Calabi--Yau algebra $\mathcal{A}$ with three generators is introduced and explicitly shown to possess a PBW basis and a certain central element. It is seen that $Z_2(sl(3))$ is isomorphic to a quotient of the algebra $\mathcal{A}$ by a single explicit relation fixing the value of the central element. Upon concentrating on three highest weight representations occurring in the Clebsch--Gordan series of $U(sl(3))$, a specialisation of $\mathcal{A}$ arises, involving the pairs of numbers characterising the three highest weights. In this realisation in $U(sl(3))\otimes U(sl(3))$, the coefficients in the defining relations and the value of the central element have degrees that correspond to the fundamental degrees of the Weyl group of type $E_6$. With the correct association between the six parameters of the representations and some roots of $E_6$, the symmetry under the full Weyl group of type $E_6$ is made manifest. The coefficients of the relations and the value of the central element in the realisation in $U(sl(3))\otimes U(sl(3))$ are expressed in terms of the fundamental invariant polynomials associated to $E_6$. It is also shown that the relations of the algebra $\mathcal{A}$ can be realised with Heun type operators in the Racah or Hahn algebra.

Baxterisation of the fused Hecke algebra and R-matrices with gl(N)-symmetry

We give an explicit Baxterisation formula for the fused Hecke algebra and its classical limit for the algebra of fused permutations. These algebras replace the Hecke algebra and the symmetric group in the Schur--Weyl duality theorems for the symmetrised powers of the fundamental representation of gl(N) and their quantum version. So the Baxterisation formulas presented in this paper are applicable to the $R$-matrices associated to these representations. In particular all "higher spins" representations of (classical and quantum) sl(2) are covered.

Fused braids and centralisers of tensor representations of $U_q(gl_N)$

We present in this paper the algebra of fused permutations and its deformation the fused Hecke algebra. The first one is defined on a set of combinatorial objects that we call fused permutations, and its deformation is defined on a set of topological objects that we call fused braids. We use these algebras to prove a Schur--Weyl duality theorem for any tensor products of any symmetrised powers of the natural representation of $U_q(gl_N)$. Then we proceed to the study of the fused Hecke algebras and in particular, we describe explicitely the irreducible representations and the branching rules. Finally, we aim to an algebraic description of the centralisers of the tensor products of $U_q(gl_N)$-representations under consideration. We exhibit a simple explicit element that we conjecture to generate the kernel from the fused Hecke algebra to the centraliser. We prove this conjecture in some cases and in particular, we obtain a description of the centraliser of any tensor products of any finite-dimensional representations of $U_q(sl_2)$.

$\mathbb{C}P^{2S}$ sigma models described through hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials

The main objective of this paper is to establish a new connection between the Hermitian rank-1 projector solutions of the Euclidean $\mathbb{C}P^{2S}$ sigma model in two dimensions and the particular hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials called Krawtchouk polynomials. We show that any such projector solutions of the $\mathbb{C}P^{2S}$ model, defined on the Riemann sphere and having a finite action, can be explicitly parametrised in terms of these polynomials. We apply these results to the analysis of surfaces associated with $\mathbb{C}P^{2S}$ models defined using the generalised Weierstrass formula for immersion. We show that these surfaces are homeomorphic to spheres in the $\mathfrak{su}(2s+1)$ algebra, and express several other geometrical characteristics in terms of the Krawtchouk polynomials. Finally, a connection between the $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ spin-s representation and the $\mathbb{C}P^{2S}$ model is explored in detail.

Equivalent T-Q relations and exact results for the open TASEP

Starting from the Bethe ansatz solution for the open Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process (TASEP), we compute the largest eigenvalue of the deformed Markovian matrix, in exact agreement with results obtained by the matrix ansatz. We also compute the eigenvalues of the higher conserved charges. The key step is to find a simpler equivalent T-Q relation, which is similar to the one for the TASEP with periodic boundary conditions.

Back to baxterisation

In the continuity of our previous paper arXiv:1509.05516, we define three new algebras, $A_{n}(a,b,c)$, $B_{n}$ and $C_{n}$, that are close to the braid algebra. They allow to build solutions to the braided Yang-Baxter equation with spectral parameters. The construction is based on a baxterisation procedure, similar to the one used in the context of Hecke or BMW algebras. The $A_{n}(a,b,c)$ algebra depends on three arbitrary parameters, and when the parameter $a$ is set to zero, we recover the algebra $M_{n}(b,c)$ already introduced elsewhere for purpose of baxterisation. The Hecke algebra (and its baxterisation) can be recovered from a coset of the $A_{n}(0,0,c)$ algebra. The algebra $A_{n}(0,b,-b^2)$ is a coset of the braid algebra. The two other algebras $B_{n}$ and $C_{n}$ do not possess any parameter, and can be also viewed as a coset of the braid algebra.

3-state Hamiltonians associated to solvable 33-vertex models

Using the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz, we study 33-vertex models, where only one global charge with degenerate eigenvalues exists and each site possesses three internal degrees of freedom. In the context of Markovian processes, they correspond to diffusing particles with two possible internal states which may be exchanged during the diffusion (transmutation). The first step of the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz is performed providing the eigenvalues in terms of rapidities. We give the constraints ensuring the consistency of the computations. These rapidities also satisfy Bethe equations involving $4\times 4$ R-matrices, solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation which implies new constraints on the models. We solve them allowing us to list all the solvable 33-vertex models.

Integrable dissipative exclusion process: Correlation functions and physical properties

We study a one-parameter generalization of the symmetric simple exclusion process on a one dimensional lattice. In addition to the usual dynamics (where particles can hop with equal rates to the left or to the right with an exclusion constraint), annihilation and creation of pairs can occur. The system is driven out of equilibrium by two reservoirs at the boundaries. In this setting the model is still integrable: it is related to the open XXZ spin chain through a gauge transformation. This allows us to compute the full spectrum of the Markov matrix using Bethe equations. Then, we derive the spectral gap in the thermodynamical limit. We also show that the stationary state can be expressed in a matrix product form permitting to compute the multi-points correlation functions as well as the mean value of the lattice current and of the creation-annihilation current. Finally the variance of the lattice current is exactly computed for a finite size system. In the thermodynamical limit, it matches perfectly the value obtained from the associated macroscopic fluctuation theory. It provides a confirmation of the macroscopic fluctuation theory for dissipative system from a microscopic point of view.

Matrix product solution to a 2-species TASEP with open integrable boundaries

We present an explicit representation for the matrix product ansatz for some two-species TASEP with open boundary conditions. The construction relies on the integrability of the models, a property that constrains the possible rates at the boundaries. The realisation is built on a tensor product of copies of the DEHP algebras. Using this explicit construction, we are able to calculate the partition function of the models. The densities and currents in the stationary state are also computed. It leads to the phase diagram of the models. Depending on the values of the boundary rates, we obtain for each species shock waves, maximal current, or low/high densities phases.

Integrable boundary conditions for multi-species ASEP

The first result of the present paper is to provide classes of explicit solutions for integrable boundary matrices for the multi-species ASEP with an arbitrary number of species. All the solutions we have obtained can be seen as representations of a new algebra that contains the boundary Hecke algebra. The boundary Hecke algebra is not sufficient to build these solutions. This is the second result of our paper.

Inhomogeneous discrete-time exclusion processes

We study discrete time Markov processes with periodic or open boundary conditions and with inhomogeneous rates in the bulk. The Markov matrices are given by the inhomogeneous transfer matrices introduced previously to prove the integrability of quantum spin chains. We show that these processes have a simple graphical interpretation and correspond to a sequential update. We compute their stationary state using a matrix ansatz and express their normalization factors as Schur polynomials. A connection between Bethe roots and Lee-Yang zeros is also pointed out.

A new braid-like algebra for Baxterisation

We introduce a new Baxterisation for R-matrices that depend separately on two spectral parameters. The Baxterisation is based on a new algebra, close to but different from the braid group. This allows us to recover the R-matrix of the multi-species generalization of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process with different hopping rates.

Open two-species exclusion processes with integrable boundaries

We give a complete classification of integrable Markovian boundary conditions for the asymmetric simple exclusion process with two species (or classes) of particles. Some of these boundary conditions lead to non-vanishing particle currents for each species. We explain how the stationary state of all these models can be expressed in a matrix product form, starting from two key components, the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev and Ghoshal-Zamolodchikov relations. This statement is illustrated by studying in detail a specific example, for which the matrix Ansatz (involving 9 generators) is explicitly constructed and physical observables (such as currents, densities) calculated.
