Integrable approach to simple exclusion processes with boundaries. Review and progress

We study the matrix ansatz in the quantum group framework, applying integrable systems techniques to statistical physics models. We start by reviewing the two approaches, and then show how one can use the former to get new insight on the latter. We illustrate our method by solving a model of reaction-diffusion. An eigenvector for the transfer matrix for the XXZ spin chain with non-diagonal boundary is also obtained using a matrix ansatz.

Classification of three-state Hamiltonians solvable by Coordinate Bethe Ansatz

We classify all Hamiltonians with rank 1 symmetry, acting on a periodic three-state spin chain, and solvable through (generalisation of) the coordinate Bethe ansatz (CBA). We obtain in this way four multi-parametric extensions of the known 19-vertex Hamiltonians (such as Zamolodchikov-Fateev, Izergin-Korepin, Bariev Hamiltonians). Apart from the 19-vertex Hamiltonians, there exists 17-vertex and 14-vertex Hamiltonians that cannot be viewed as subcases of the 19-vertex ones. In the case of 17-vertex Hamiltonian, we get a generalization of the genus 5 special branch found by Martins, plus three new ones. We get also two 14-vertex Hamiltonians. We solve all these Hamiltonians using CBA, and provide their spectrum, eigenfunctions and Bethe equations. A special attention is made to provide the specifications of our multi-parametric Hamiltonians that give back known Hamiltonians.

Set-theoretical reflection equation: Classification of reflection maps

The set-theoretical reflection equation and its solutions, the reflection maps, recently introduced by two of the authors, is presented in general and then applied in the context of quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps. We provide a method for constructing reflection maps and we obtain a classification of solutions associated to all the families of quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps that have been classified recently.

Algebraic Bethe ansatz for open XXX model with triangular boundary matrices

We consider open XXX spins chain with two general boundary matrices submitted to one constraint, which is equivalent to the possibility to put the two matrices in a triangular form. We construct Bethe vectors from a generalized algebraic Bethe ansatz. As usual, the method also provides Bethe equations and transfer matrix eigenvalues.

Generalized coordinate Bethe ansatz for non diagonal boundaries

We compute the spectrum and the eigenstates of the open XXX model with non-diagonal (triangular) boundary matrices. Since the boundary matrices are not diagonal, the usual coordinate Bethe ansatz does not work anymore, and we use a generalization of it to solve the problem.

Matrix Coordinate Bethe Ansatz: Applications to XXZ and ASEP models

We present the construction of the full set of eigenvectors of the open ASEP and XXZ models with special constraints on the boundaries. The method combines both recent constructions of coordinate Bethe Ansatz and the old method of matrix Ansatz specific to the ASEP. This "matrix coordinate Bethe Ansatz" can be viewed as a non-commutative coordinate Bethe Ansatz, the non-commutative part being related to the algebra appearing in

Sutherland Models for Complex Reflection Groups

There are known to be integrable Sutherland models associated to every real root system -- or, which is almost equivalent, to every real reflection group. Real reflection groups are special cases of complex reflection groups. In this paper we associate certain integrable Sutherland models to the classical family of complex reflection groups. Internal degrees of freedom are introduced, defining dynamical spin chains, and the freezing limit taken to obtain static chains of Haldane-Shastry type. By considering the relation of these models to the usual BC_N case, we are led to systems with both real and complex reflection groups as symmetries. We demonstrate their integrability by means of new Dunkl operators, associated to wreath products of dihedral groups.

The thermal conductivity of alternating spin chains

We study a class of integrable alternating (S1,S2) quantum spin chains with critical ground state properties. Our main result is the description of the thermal Drude weight of the one-dimensional alternating spin chain as a function of temperature. We have identified the thermal current of the model with alternating spins as one of the conserved currents underlying the integrability. This allows for the derivation of a finite set of non-linear integral equations for the thermal conductivity. Numerical solutions to the integral equations are presented for specific cases of the spins S1 and S2. In the low-temperature limit a universal picture evolves where the thermal Drude weight is proportional to temperature T and central charge c.

Scattering matrix for a general gl(2) spin chain

We study the general L_0-regular gl(2) spin chain, i.e. a chain where the sites {i,i+L_0,i+2L_0,...} carry the same arbitrary representation (spin) of gl(2). The basic example of such chain is obtained for L_0=2, where we recover the alternating spin chain. Firstly, we review different known results about their integrability and their spectrum. Secondly, we give an interpretation in terms of particles and conjecture the scattering matrix between them.

Exact results for the one-dimensional many-body problem with contact interaction: Including a tunable impurity

The one-dimensional problem of $N$ particles with contact interaction in the presence of a tunable transmitting and reflecting impurity is investigated along the lines of the coordinate Bethe ansatz. As a result, the system is shown to be exactly solvable by determining the eigenfunctions and the energy spectrum. The latter is given by the solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations which we establish for different boundary conditions in the presence of the impurity. These impurity Bethe equations contain as special cases well-known Bethe equations for systems on the half-line. We briefly study them on their own through the toy-examples of one and two particles. It turns out that the impurity can be tuned to lift degeneracies in the energies and can create bound states when it is sufficiently attractive. The example of an impurity sitting at the center of a box and breaking parity invariance shows that such an impurity can be used to confine asymmetrically a stationary state. This could have interesting applications in condensed matter physics.

Thermodynamical limit of general gl(N) spin chains: vacuum state and densities

We study the vacuum state of spin chains where each site carry an arbitrary representation. We prove that the string hypothesis, usually used to solve the Bethe ansatz equations, is valid for representations characterized by rectangular Young tableaux. In these cases, we obtain the density of the center of the strings for the vacuum. We work out different examples and, in particular, the spin chains with periodic array of impurities.

New spin generalisation for long range interaction models

We study new interactions between degrees of freedom for Calogero, Sutherland and confined Calogero spin models. These interactions are encoded by the generators of the Lie algebra so(N) or sp(N). We find the symmetry algebras of these new models: the half-loop algebra based on so(N) or sp(N) for the Calogero models and the Yangian of so(N) or sp(N) for the two types of other models. Surprisingly, these symmetry occur only for a specific value of the coupling constant.

Spectrum and Bethe ansatz equations for the U_ {q}(gl(N)) closed and open spin chains in any representation

We consider the N-site U_{q}(gl(N)) integrable spin chain with periodic and open diagonal soliton-preserving boundary conditions. By employing analytical Bethe ansatz techniques we are able to determine the spectrum and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations for the general case, where each site of the spin chain is associated to any representation of U_{q}(gl(N)). In the case of open spin chain, we study finite dimensional representations of the quantum reflection algebra, and prove in full generality that the pseudo-vacuum is a highest weight of the monodromy matrix. For these two types of spin chain, we study the (generalized) "algebraic" fusion procedures, which amount to construct the quantum contraction and the Sklyanin determinant for the affine U_{q}(gl(N)) and quantum reflection algebras. We also determine the symmetry algebra of these two types of spin chains, including general K and K^+ diagonal matrices for the open case. The case of open spin chains with soliton non-preserving boundary conditions is also presented in the framework of quantum twisted Yangians. The symmetry algebra of this spin chains is studied. We also give an exhaustive classification of the invertible matricial solutions to the corresponding reflection equation.

Bethe Equations for a g_2 Model

We prove, using the coordinate Bethe ansatz, the exact solvability of a model of three particles whose point-like interactions are determined by the root system of g_2. The statistics of the wavefunction are left unspecified. Using the properties of the Weyl group, we are also able to find Bethe equations. It is notable that the method relies on a certain generalized version of the well-known Yang-Baxter equation. A particular class of non-trivial solutions to this equation emerges naturally.

Exact energy spectrum for models with equally spaced point potentials

We describe a non-perturbative method for computing the energy band structures of one-dimensional models with general point potentials sitting at equally spaced sites. This is done thanks to a Bethe ansatz approach and the method is applicable even when periodicity is broken, that is when Bloch's theorem is not valid any more. We derive the general equation governing the energy spectrum and illustrate its use in various situations. In particular, we get exact results for boundary effects. We also study non-perturbatively the effects of impurities in such systems. Finally, we discuss the possibility of including interactions between the particles of these systems.

Analytical Bethe ansatz in gl(N) spin chains

We present a global treatment of the analytical Bethe ansatz for gl(N) spin chains admitting on each site an arbitrary representation. The method applies for closed and open spin chains, and also to the case of soliton non-preserving boundaries.

Analytical Bethe Ansatz for open spin chains with soliton non preserving boundary conditions

We present an ``algebraic treatment'' of the analytical Bethe ansatz for open spin chains with soliton non preserving (SNP) boundary conditions. For this purpose, we introduce abstract monodromy and transfer matrices which provide an algebraic framework for the analytical Bethe ansatz. It allows us to deal with a generic gl(N) open SNP spin chain possessing on each site an arbitrary representation. As a result, we obtain the Bethe equations in their full generality. The classification of finite dimensional irreducible representations for the twisted Yangians are directly linked to the calculation of the transfer matrix eigenvalues.
