Self-dual cosmological Bianchi IX and VIII metrics

We show that self-dual Bianchi IX and VIII cosmological models are described by the Nahm dynamical system for an appropriate type of matrices. We construct the general solutions in the case of the diagonal reductions of the corresponding Nahm equations and give the explicit expressions for the corresponding self-dual metrics in the Euclidean and in the Minkowski signature cases.

Algebraic Bethe Ansatz for deformed Gaudin model

The Gaudin model based on the sl_2-invariant r-matrix with an extra Jordanian term depending on the spectral parameters is considered. The appropriate creation operators defining the Bethe states of the system are constructed through a recurrence relation. The commutation relations between the generating function t(λ) of the integrals of motion and the creation operators are calculated and therefore the algebraic Bethe Ansatz is fully implemented. The energy spectrum as well as the corresponding Bethe equations of the system coincide with the ones of the sl_2-invariant Gaudin model. As opposed to the sl_2-invariant case, the operator t(λ) and the Gaudin Hamiltonians are not hermitian. Finally, the inner products and norms of the Bethe states are studied.

Symmetries of spin systems and Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra

We consider integrable open spin chains related to the quantum affine algebras U_q(o(3)) and U_q(A_2^{(2)}). We discuss the symmetry algebras of these chains with the local C^3 space related to the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra. The symmetry algebra and the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra centralize each other in the representation space, and this defines the structure of the spin system spectra. Consequently, the corresponding multiplet structure of the energy spectra is obtained.

Jordanian deformation of the open XXX-spin chain

The general solution to the reflection equation associated with the jordanian deformation of the SL(2) invariant Yang R-matrix is found. The same K-matrix is obtained by the special scaling limit of the XXZ-model with general boundary conditions. The Hamiltonian with the boundary terms is explicitly derived according to the Sklyanin formalism. We discuss the structure of the spectrum of the deformed XXX-model and its dependence on the boundary conditions.

Quantum symmetry algebras of spin systems related to Temperley-Lieb R-matrices

A reducible representation of the Temperley-Lieb algebra is constructed on the tensor product of n-dimensional spaces. One obtains as a centraliser of this action a quantum algebra (a quasi-triangular Hopf algebra) U_q with a representation ring equivalent to the representation ring of the sl_2 Lie algebra. This algebra U_q is the symmetry algebra of the corresponding open spin chain.

sl_2 Gaudin model with Jordanian twist

sl_2 Gaudin model with Jordanian twist is studied. This system can be obtained as the semiclassical limit of the XXX spin chain deformed by the Jordanian twist. The appropriate creation operators that yield the Bethe states of the Gaudin model and consequently its spectrum are defined. Their commutation relations with the generators of the corresponding loop algebra as well as with the generating function of integrals of motion are given. The inner products and norms of Bethe states and the relation to the solutions of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations are discussed.

Trigonometric osp(1|2) Gaudin model

The problems connected with Gaudin models are reviewed by analyzing model related to the trigonometric osp(1|2) classical r-matrix. The eigenvectors of the trigonometric osp(1|2) Gaudin Hamiltonians are found using explicitly constructed creation operators. The commutation relations between the creation operators and the generators of the trigonometric loop superalgebra are calculated. The coordinate representation of the Bethe states is presented. The relation between the Bethe vectors and solutions to the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation yields the norm of the eigenvectors. The generalized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov system is discussed both in the rational and in the trigonometric case.

Schlesinger transformations and quantum R-matrices

Schlesinger transformations are discrete monodromy preserving symmetry transformations of a meromorphic connection which shift by integers the eigenvalues of its residues. We study Schlesinger transformations for twisted sl_N-valued connections on the torus. A universal construction is presented which gives the elementary two-point transformations in terms of Belavin's elliptic quantum R-matrix. In particular, the role of the quantum deformation parameter is taken by the difference of the two poles whose residue eigenvalues are shifted. Elementary one-point transformations (acting on the residue eigenvalues at a single pole) are constructed in terms of the classical elliptic r-matrix. The action of these transformations on the tau-function of the system may completely be integrated and we obtain explicit expressions in terms of the parameters of the connection. In the limit of a rational R-matrix, our construction and the tau-quotients reduce to the classical results of Jimbo and Miwa in the complex plane.

Creation operators and Bethe vectors of the osp(1|2) Gaudin model

Gaudin model based on the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) is studied. The eigenvectors of the osp(1|2) invariant Gaudin hamiltonians are constructed by algebraic Bethe Ansatz. Corresponding creation operators are defined by a recurrence relation. Furthermore, explicit solution to this recurrence relation is found. The action of the creation operators on the lowest spin vector yields Bethe vectors of the model. The relation between the Bethe vectors and solutions to the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation of the corresponding super-conformal field theory is established.

Painleve III Equation and Bianchi VII_0 Model

We examine the reduced phase space of the Bianchi VII_0 cosmological model, including the moduli sector. We show that the dynamics of the relevant sector of local degrees of freedom is given by a Painleve III equation. We then obtain a zero-curvature representation of this Painleve III equation by applying the Belinskii-Zakharov method to the Bianchi VII_0 model.

Free-Field Realization of D-dimensional Cylindrical Gravitational Waves

We find two-dimensional free-field variables for D-dimensional general relativity on spacetimes with D-2 commuting spacelike Killing vector fields and non-compact spatial sections for D>4. We show that there is a canonical transformation which maps the corresponding two-dimensional dilaton gravity theory into a two-dimensional diffeomorphism invariant theory of the free-field variables. We also show that the spacetime metric components can be expressed as asymptotic series in negative powers of the dilaton, with coefficients which can be determined in terms of the free fields.

Schlesinger transformations for elliptic isomonodromic deformations

Schlesinger transformations are discrete monodromy preserving symmetry transformations of the classical Schlesinger system. Generalizing well-known results from the Riemann sphere we construct these transformations for isomonodromic deformations on genus one Riemann surfaces. Their action on the system's tau-function is computed and we obtain an explicit expression for the ratio of the old and the transformed tau-function.

Remarks on the Reduced Phase Space of (2+1)-Dimensional Gravity on a Torus in the Ashtekar Formulation

We examine the reduced phase space of the Barbero-Varadarajan solutions of the Ashtekar formulation of (2+1)-dimensional general relativity on a torus. We show that it is a finite-dimensional space due to existence of an infinite dimensional residual gauge invariance which reduces the infinite-dimensional space of solutions to a finite-dimensional space of gauge-inequivalent solutions. This is in agreement with general arguments which imply that the number of physical degrees of freedom for (2+1)-dimensional Ashtekar gravity on a torus is finite.

Ashtekar Formulation of 2+1 Gravity on a Torus

Pure (2+1)-dimensional Einstein gravity is analysed in the Ashtekar formulation, when the spatial manifold is a torus. We have found a set of globally defined observables, forming a closed algebra. This allowed us to solve the quantum constraints, and to show that the reduced phase space of the Ashtekar formulation is greater then the corresponding space of the Witten formulation. Furthermore, we have found a globally defined time variable which satisfies all the requiriments of an extrinsic time variable in quantum gravity.
