Yangian Symmetry Escapes from the Fishnet

We investigate Yangian symmetry for the equations of motion and the action of the classical bi-scalar and supersymmetric fishnet models in four spacetime dimensions, and we subsequently discuss its applicability to planar correlation functions. We argue that Yangian symmetry is classically realised in these models subject to specific evaluation parameter patterns. Curiously, Yangian invariance does not extend to generic quantum correlation functions in the bi-scalar model beyond the well-established classes of Yangian invariant correlators. We present several concrete counter-examples of bi-scalar correlators given by sums of Feynman graphs and of bi-scalar graphs with octagon-shaped loops. This finding underlines the notion that a non-zero dual Coxeter number represents an obstacle towards quantum Yangian symmetry and possibly also for complete integrability in planar QFT models.

Yangian Form-alism for Planar Gauge Theories

In this article, we reconsider the formulation of Yangian symmetry for planar N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, and we investigate to what extent this symmetry lifts to the beta/gamma-deformation of the model. We first apply cohomology of variational forms towards a thorough derivation of the invariance statement for the undeformed action from covariance of the equations of motion under the Yangian algebra. We then apply a twist deformation to these statements paying particular attention to cyclicity aspects. We find that the equations of motion remain covariant while invariance of the action only holds for the Yangian subalgebra that is uncharged under the twist.

Infinite-Length Limit of Spectral Curves and Inverse Scattering

Integrability equips models of theoretical physics with efficient methods for the exact construction of useful states and their evolution. Relevant tools for classical integrable field models in one spatial dimensional are spectral curves in the case of periodic fields and inverse scattering for asymptotic boundary conditions. Even though the two methods are quite different in many ways, they ought to be related by taking the periodicity length of closed boundary conditions to infinity. Using the Korteweg-de Vries equation and the continuous Heisenberg magnet as prototypical classical integrable field models, we discuss and illustrate how data for spectral curves transforms into asymptotic scattering data. In order to gain intuition and also for concreteness, we review how the elliptic states of these models degenerate into solitons at infinite length.

Affine Classical Lie Bialgebras for AdS/CFT Integrability

In this article we continue the classical analysis of the symmetry algebra underlying the integrability of the spectrum in the AdS_5/CFT_4 and in the Hubbard model. We extend the construction of the quasi-triangular Lie bialgebra gl(2|2) by contraction and reduction studied in the earlier work to the case of the affine algebra sl(2)^(1) times d(2,1;alpha)^(1). The reduced affine derivation naturally measures the deviation of the classical r-matrix from the difference form. Moreover, it implements a Lorentz boost symmetry, originally suggested to be related to a q-deformed 2D Poincare algebra. We also discuss the classical double construction for the bialgebra of interest and comment on the representation of the affine structure.

Classical Lie Bialgebras for AdS/CFT Integrability by Contraction and Reduction

Integrability of the one-dimensional Hubbard model and of the factorised scattering problem encountered on the worldsheet of AdS strings can be expressed in terms of a peculiar quantum algebra. In this article, we derive the classical limit of these algebraic integrable structures based on established results for the exceptional simple Lie superalgebra d(2,1;epsilon) along with standard sl(2) which form supersymmetric isometries on 3D AdS space. The two major steps in this construction consist in the contraction to a 3D Poincaré superalgebra and a certain reduction to a deformation of the u(2|2) superalgebra. We apply these steps to the integrable structure and obtain the desired Lie bialgebras with suitable classical r-matrices of rational and trigonometric kind. We illustrate our findings in terms of representations for on-shell fields on AdS and flat space.

Yangian Symmetry for the Action of Planar N=4 Super Yang-Mills and N=6 Super Chern-Simons Theories

In this article we establish the notion of classical Yangian symmetry for planar N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and for related planar gauge theories. After revisiting Yangian invariance for the equations of motion, we describe how the bi-local generators act on the action of the model such that the latter becomes exactly invariant. In particular, we elaborate on the relevance of the planar limit and how to act non-linearly with bi-local generators on the cyclic action.

Yangian Algebra and Correlation Functions in Planar Gauge Theories

In this work we consider colour-ordered correlation functions of the fields in integrable planar gauge theories such as N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with the aim to establish Ward-Takahashi identities corresponding to Yangian symmetries. To this end, we discuss the Yangian algebra relations and discover a novel set of bi-local gauge symmetries for planar gauge theories. We fix the gauge, introduce local and bi-local BRST symmetries and propose Slavnov-Taylor identities corresponding to the various bi-local symmetries. We then verify the validity of these identities for several correlation functions at tree and loop level. Finally, we comment on the possibility of quantum anomalies for Yangian symmetry.

The RTT-Realization for the Deformed gl(2|2) Yangian

In this paper we work out the RTT-realization for the Yangian algebra of the Hubbard model and AdS/CFT correspondence. We find that this Yangian algebra is of a non-standard type in which the levels of the Yangian mix. The crucial feature that allows this is a braiding factor that deforms the coproduct and generates the central extensions of the underlying sl(2|2) Lie algebra. In our RTT-realization we have also been able to incorporate the so-called secret symmetry and we were able to extend it to higher Yangian levels. Finally, we discuss the center of the Yangian and the automorphisms related to crossing symmetry.

Maximally extended sl(2|2), q-deformed d(2,1;epsilon) and 3D kappa-Poincaré

We show that the maximal extension sl(2) times psl(2|2) times C3 of the sl(2|2) superalgebra can be obtained as a contraction limit of the semi-simple superalgebra d(2,1;epsilon) times sl(2). We reproduce earlier results on the corresponding q-deformed Hopf algebra and its universal R-matrix by means of contraction. We make the curious observation that the above algebra is related to kappa-Poincaré symmetry. When dropping the graded part psl(2|2) we find a novel one-parameter deformation of the 3D kappa-Poincaré algebra. Our construction also provides a concise exact expression for its universal R-matrix.

Yangian Symmetry and Integrability of Planar N=4 Super-Yang-Mills Theory

In this letter we establish Yangian symmetry of planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. We prove that the classical equations of motion of the model close onto themselves under the action of Yangian generators. Moreover we propose an off-shell extension of our statement which is equivalent to the invariance of the action and prove that it is exactly satisfied. We assert that our relationship serves as a criterion for integrability in planar gauge theories by explicitly checking that it applies to integrable ABJM theory but not to non-integrable N=1 super-Yang-Mills theory.

Maximally extended sl(2|2) as a quantum double

We derive the universal R-matrix of the quantum-deformed enveloping algebra of centrally extended sl(2|2) using Drinfeld's quantum double construction. We are led to enlarging the algebra by additional generators corresponding to an sl(2) automorphism. For this maximally extended algebra we construct a consistent Hopf algebra structure where the extensions exhibit several uncommon features. We determine the corresponding universal R-matrix containing some non-standard functions. Curiously, this Hopf algebra has one extra deformation parameter for which the R-matrix does not factorize into products of exponentials.

Smooth Wilson Loops in N=4 Non-Chiral Superspace

We consider a supersymmetric Wilson loop operator for 4d N=4 super Yang-Mills theory which is the natural object dual to the AdS_5 x S^5 superstring in the AdS/CFT correspondence. It generalizes the traditional bosonic 1/2 BPS Maldacena-Wilson loop operator and completes recent constructions in the literature to smooth (non-light-like) loops in the full N=4 non-chiral superspace. This Wilson loop operator enjoys global superconformal and local kappa-symmetry of which a detailed discussion is given. Moreover, the finiteness of its vacuum expectation value is proven at leading order in perturbation theory. We determine the leading vacuum expectation value for general paths both at the component field level up to quartic order in anti-commuting coordinates and in the full non-chiral superspace in suitable gauges. Finally, we discuss loops built from quadric splines joined in such a way that the path derivatives are continuous at the intersection.

Integrability of Smooth Wilson Loops in N=4 Superspace

We perform a detailed study of the Yangian symmetry of smooth supersymmetric Maldacena-Wilson loops in planar N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. This hidden symmetry extends the global superconformal symmetry present for these observables. A gauge-covariant action of the Yangian generators on the Wilson line is established that generalizes previous constructions built upon path variations. Employing these generators the Yangian symmetry is proven for general paths in non-chiral N=4 superspace at the first perturbative order. The bi-local piece of the level-one generators requires the use of a regulator due to divergences in the coincidence limit. We perform regularization by point splitting in detail, thereby constructing additional local and boundary contributions as regularization for all level-one Yangian generators. Moreover, the Yangian algebra at level one is checked and compatibility with local kappa-symmetry is established. Finally, the consistency of the Yangian symmetry is shown to depend on two properties: The vanishing of the dual Coxeter number of the underlying superconformal algebra and the existence of a novel superspace "G-identity" for the gauge field theory. This tightly constrains the conformal gauge theories to which integrability can possibly apply.

Fusion for the one-dimensional Hubbard model

We discuss a formulation of the fusion procedure for integrable models which is suitable for application to non-standard R-matrices. It allows for construction of bound state R-matrices for AdS/CFT worldsheet scattering or equivalently for the one-dimensional Hubbard model. We also discuss some peculiar cases that arise in these models.

On Yangian-invariant regularisation of deformed on-shell diagrams in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory

We investigate Yangian invariance of deformed on-shell diagrams with D=4, N=4 superconformal symmetry. We find that invariance implies a direct relationship between the deformation parameters and the permutation associated to the on-shell graph. We analyse the connection with deformations of scattering amplitudes in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory and the possibility of using the deformation parameters as a regulator preserving Yangian invariance. A study of higher-point tree and loop graphs suggests that manifest Yangian invariance of the amplitude requires trivial deformation parameters.

Integrable Deformations of the XXZ Spin Chain

We consider integrable deformations of the XXZ spin chain for periodic and open boundary conditions. In particular, we classify all long-range deformations and study their impact on the spectrum. As compared to the XXX case, we have the z-spin at our disposal, which induces two additional deformations: the short-range magnetic twist and a new long-range momentum-dependent twist.

Long-Range Deformations for Integrable Spin Chains

We present a recursion relation for the explicit construction of integrable spin chain Hamiltonians with long-range interactions. Based on arbitrary short-range (e.g. nearest-neighbor) integrable spin chains, it allows to construct an infinite set of conserved long-range charges. We explain the moduli space of deformation parameters by different classes of generating operators. The rapidity map and dressing phase in the long-range Bethe equations are a result of these deformations. The closed chain asymptotic Bethe equations for long-range spin chains transforming under a generic symmetry algebra are derived. Notably, our construction applies to generalizations of standard nearest-neighbor chains such as alternating spin chains. We also discuss relevant properties for its application to planar D=4, N=4 and D=3, N=6 supersymmetric gauge theories. Finally, we present a map between long-range and inhomogeneous spin chains delivering more insight into the structures of these models as well as their limitations at wrapping order.

Conformal Anomaly for Amplitudes in N=6 Superconformal Chern-Simons Theory

Scattering amplitudes in three-dimensional N=6 Chern-Simons theory are shown to be non-invariant with respect to the free representation of the osp(6|4) symmetry generators. At tree and one-loop level these "anomalous" terms occur only for non-generic, singular configurations of the external momenta and can be used to determine the form of the amplitudes. In particular we show that the symmetries predict that the one-loop six-point amplitude is non-vanishing and confirm this by means of an explicit calculation using generalized unitarity methods. We comment on the implications of this finding for any putative Wilson loop/amplitude duality in N=6 Chern-Simons theory.
