Dark Matter in Gauge Mediation from Emergent Supersymmetry

We investigated the viability of neutralino dark matter in the gauge mediation from emergent supersymmetry proposal. In this proposal, supersymmetry is broken at Planck scale and consequently, the gravitino is superheavy and completely decouples from the low energy theory. Squarks and sleptons obtain their soft masses dominantly through gauge mediation with other mechanisms highly suppressed. The lightest supersymmetric partner, in contrast to traditional gauge mediation, is a neutralino which is also a dark matter candidate. By explicit calculation of the low energy spectra, the parameter space was constrained using the WMAP observed relic density of dark matter, LEP2 Higgs mass bounds, collider bounds on supersymmetric partners and exotic B-meson decays. We found that the model has intriguing hybrid features such as a nearly gauge-mediated spectrum (the exception being the superheavy gravitino) but with a dominant mSUGRA-like bino-stau coannihilation channel and at large $\tan β$, A-resonance-like annihilation.

Solving problems of 4D minimal SO(10) model in a warped extra dimension

The minimal renormalizable supersymmetric SO(10) model, an SO(10) framework with only one 10 and one 126 Higgs multiplets in the Yukawa sector, is attractive because of its high predictive power for the neutrino oscillation data. However, this model suffers from problems related to running of gauge couplings. The gauge coupling unification may be spoiled due to the presence of Higgs multiplets much lighter than the grand unification (GUT) scale. In addition, the gauge couplings blow up around the GUT scale because of the presence of Higgs multiplets of large representations. We consider the minimal SO(10) model in the warped extra dimension and find a possibility to solve these problems.

Top quark spin correlations in the Randall-Sundrum model at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

In the Randall-Sundrum model, we study top-antitop pair production and top spin correlations at the Large Hadron Collider. In addition to the Standard Model processes, there is a new contribution to the top-antitop pair production process mediated by graviton Kaluza-Klein modes in the s-channel. We calculate the density matrix for the top-antitop pair production including the new contribution. With a reasonable parameter choice in the Randall-Sundrum model, we find a sizable deviation of the top-antitop pair production cross section and the top spin correlations from those in the Standard Model. In particular, resonant productions of the graviton Kaluza-Klein modes give rise to a remarkable enhancement of such a deviation.

The current problems of the minimal SO(10) GUT and their solutions

This talk consists of two parts. In part I we review how the minimal renormalizable supersymmetric SO(10) model, an SO(10) framework with only one 10 and one 126 Higgs multiplets in the Yukawa sector, is attractive because of its highly predictive power. Indeed it not only gives a consistent predictions on neutrino oscillation data but also gives reasonable and interesting values for leptogenesis, LFV, muon g-2, neutrinoless double beta decay etc. In part II we consider the minimal SO(10) model in the warped extra dimension and show a possibility to solve these problems.

Cosmic Positron Signature from Dark Matter in the Littlest Higgs Model with T-parity

We calculate the flux of cosmic positrons from the dark matter annihilation in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity. The dark matter annihilates mainly into weak gauge bosons in the halo, and high energy positrons are produced through leptonic and hadronic decays of the bosons. We investigate a possibility to detect the positron signal in upcoming experiments such as PAMELA and AMS-02. We found that the dark matter signal can be distinguished from the background in the PAMELA experiment when the dark matter mass is less than 120 GeV and the signal flux is enhanced due to a small scale clustering of dark matter. Furthermore, the signal from the dark matter annihilation can be detected in the AMS-02 experiment, even if such enhancement does not exist. We also discuss the invisible width of the Higgs boson in this model.

Color Superconductivity in N=2 Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

We study vacuum structure of N=2 supersymmetric (SUSY) QCD, based on the gauge group SU(2) with N_f=2 flavors of massive hypermultiplet quarks, in the presence of non-zero baryon chemical potential (μ). The theory has a classical vacuum preserving baryon number symmetry, when a mass term, which breaks N=2 SUSY but preserves N=1 SUSY, for the adjoint gauge chiral multiplet (m_{ad}) is introduced. By using the exact result of N=2 SUSY QCD, we analyze low energy effective potential at the leading order of perturbation with respect to small SUSY breaking parameters, μand m_{ad}. We find that the baryon number is broken as a consequence of the SU(2) strong gauge dynamics, so that color superconductivity dynamically takes place at the non-SUSY vacuum.

D-term Contributions to the Mixed Modulus-Anomaly Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking

We investigate effects of D-term contributions to the mixed modulus-anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario. In the original scenario, the tachyonic slepton problem in the pure anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking is cured by modulus contributions. We generalize the scenario so as to include contributions from the D-terms of U(1)_Y and the gauged U(1)_{B-L} which is motivated in a grand unified theory based on a higher rank gauge group such as SO(10). As a consequence of additional $D$-term contributions to scalar masses, we obtain various soft supersymmetry breaking mass spectra, which are different from those obtained in the conventional mixed modulus-anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking. Especially, we find that the lightest superpartner (LSP) neutralinos can be various types, such as Higgsino-like, wino-like and bino-like degenerating with the next LSP sfermions.

Low scale gravity mediation with warped extra dimension and collider phenomenology on the hidden sector

We propose a scenario of gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking (gravity mediation) in a supersymmetric Randall-Sundrum model. In our setup, both of the visible sector and the hidden sector co-exist on the infrared (IR) brane. We introduce the Polonyi model as a simple hidden sector. Due to the warped metric, the effective cutoff scale on the IR brane is ``warped down'', so that the gravity mediation occurs at a low scale. As a result, the gravitino is naturally the lightest superpartner (LSP) and contact interactions between the hidden and the visible sector fields become stronger. We address phenomenologies for various IR cutoff scales. In particular, we investigate collider phenomenology involving a scalar field (Polonyi field) in the hidden sector for the case with the IR cutoff around 10 TeV. We find a possibility that the hidden sector scalar can be produced at the LHC and the International Linear Collider (ILC). Interestingly, the scalar behaves like the Higgs boson of the standard model in the production process, while its decay process is quite different and, once produced, it will provide us with a very clean signature. The hidden sector may be no longer hidden.

Invisible Technicolor

We propose a scenario of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking which is applicable to the model with no tree-level potential for the elementary Higgs doublet field. An example of such a model is the gauge-Higgs unification model. The strong coupling "technicolor" dynamics can provide the scale of the electroweak symmetry breaking in the potential of the Higgs doublet field. The negative mass squared and quartic coupling can be generated through the Yukawa couplings among heavy and light "technifermions" and the Higgs doublet field. Since the massless "technifermion" is singlet under the electroweak gauge symmetry, no large corrections to the electroweak observables arise. As a prediction of this scenario, there must be a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson which couple with the Higgs field in a specific way, though it is singlet under the standard model gauge symmetry.

Light wino dark matter in brane world cosmology

The thermal relic density of the wino-like neutralino dark matter in the brane world cosmology is studied. The expansion law at a high energy regime in the brane world cosmology is modified from the one in the standard cosmology, and the resultant relic density can be enhanced if the five dimensional Planck mass $M_5$ is low enough. We calculate the wino-like neutralino relic density in the anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario and show that the allowed region is dramatically modified from the one in the standard cosmology and the wino-like neutralino with mass of order 100 GeV can be a good candidate for the dark matter. Since the allowed region disappears eventually as $M_5$ is decreasing, we can find a lower bound on $M_5 \gtrsim 100$ TeV according to the neutralino dark matter hypothesis, namely the lower bound in order for the allowed region of the neutralino dark matter to exist.

Thermal leptogenesis in brane world cosmology

The thermal leptogenesis in brane world cosmology is studied. In brane world cosmology, the expansion law is modified from the four-dimensional standard cosmological one at high temperature regime in the early universe. As a result, the well-known upper bound on the lightest light neutrino mass induced by the condition for the out-of-equilibrium decay of the lightest heavy neutrino, $\tilde{m}_1 \lesssim 10^{-3}$ eV, can be moderated to be $\tilde{m}_1 \lesssim 10^{-3} {eV} \times (M_1/T_t)^2 $ in the case of $T_t \leq M_1$ with the lightest heavy neutrino mass ($M_1$) and the ``transition temperature'' ($T_t$), at which the modified expansion law in brane world cosmology is smoothly connecting with the standard one. This implies that the degenerate mass spectrum of the light neutrinos can be consistent with the thermal leptogenesis scenario. Furthermore, as recently pointed out, the gravitino problem in supersymmetric case can be solved if the transition temperature is low enough $T_t \lesssim 10^{6-7}$ GeV. Therefore, even in the supersymmetric case, thermal leptogenesis scenario can be successfully realized in brane world cosmology.

Split-SUSY versus SUSY GUTS

The gauge coupling unification is one of main motivations in the split-SUSY scenario, and the existence of the grand unified theories (GUTs) is assumed. We examine how to realize split-SUSY mass spectrum in the context of GUTs and find that the construction of split-SUSY GUTs is by no means straightforward. With R-symmetry breaking sources in the GUT sector, GUT particles play a role of the messengers in the gauge mediation scenario and their contributions to gaugino masses can be sizable. We find the upper bound on soft scalar masses of O(10^{10}) GeV from consistency for constructing the split-SUSY GUT. Also, we discuss the attempt to construct R-symmetric GUT models.

Effective theoretical approach of Gauge-Higgs unification model and its phenomenological applications

We derive the low energy effective theory of Gauge-Higgs unification (GHU) models in the usual four dimensional framework. We find that the theories are described by only the zero-modes with a particular renormalization condition in which essential informations about GHU models are included. We call this condition ``Gauge-Higgs condition'' in this letter. In other wards, we can describe the low energy theory as the SM with this condition if GHU is a model as the UV completion of the Standard Model. This approach will be a powerful tool to construct realistic models for GHU and to investigate their low energy phenomena.

Gauge Mediation from Emergent Supersymmetry

We explore the possibility of gauge mediation in a paradigm whereby supersymmetry is posited to be an accidental symmetry of Nature and the Standard Model fields are composite bound states that emerge from a conformal field theory. The resultant effective theory can, through sequestering and conformal dynamics, exhibit most of the properties of low energy supersymmetry breaking while averting a number of cosmological and astrophysical constraints of the traditional framework of gauge mediation via dynamical supersymmetry breaking. Of particular phenomenological interest is that in our scenario, the gravitino is superheavy, the neutralino LSP is a viable candidate for cold dark matter and the flavor changing neutral currents are constrained to be, at the very minimum, only an order of magnitude below current experimental bounds.

Gravitational Radius Stabilization in Supersymmetric Warped Compactification

We examine the possibility of the extra dimensional radius stabilization with only the gravity multiplet in the bulk and some couplings at orbifold fixed points in a supersymmetric Randall-Sundrum model. Unfortunately, we find that the radius cannot be stabilized in all the cases we consider. Depending on parameters in the model, the fifth dimension collapses or its radius goes to infinity. While the former case is theoretically disastrous, the latter implies that the so-called ``RS II'' model is automatically realized in our setup. Although the radius is not stabilized, there is nothing wrong with the resultant RS II model, because it is not only phenomenologically viable but also free from the gauge hierarchy problem thanks to its supersymmetric extension.

Structure of split supersymmetry and simple models

We derive in detail a condition on the Higgs mass parameters that is necessary for the recently proposed ``split supersymmetry'' (split SUSY) scenario to provide a realistic magnitude of $\tan β$. The nature of this condition can be understood by showing how the Higgs sector of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model reduces to that of the Standard Model in the heavy limit of the soft supersymmetry breaking Higgs mass parameters. Based on this condition, we present some simple supersymmetry breaking models that each provides a realistic split-SUSY mass spectrum, in accordance with the scale of the gravitino mass ($m_{3/2}$) in relation to those of the soft scalar mass ($\tilde{m}$) and the gaugino mass ($M_{1/2}$) employed in each, namely $m_{3/2} \geq \tilde{m}$, $\tilde{m} \geq m_{3/2} \geq M_{1/2}$ and $M_{1/2} \geq m_{3/2}$, respectively, with the relation $\tilde{m} \gg M_{1/2}$ of the split-SUSY mass spectrum.

SO(10) Group Theory for the Unified Model Building

The complete tables of Clebsh-Gordan (CG) coefficients for a wide class of SO(10) SUSY grand unified theories (GUTs) are given. Explicit expression of all states and corresponding multiplets under standard model gauge group G_{321} = SU(3)_C x SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y, necessary for evaluation of the CG coefficients are presented. The SUSY SO(10) GUT model considered here incudes most of the Higgs irreducible representations usually used in the literature: 10, 45, 54, 120, 126 126-bar and 210. Mass matrices of all G_{321} multiplets are found for the most general superpotential. These results are indispensible for the precision calculations of the gauge coupling unification and proton decay, etc.
