A gracious exit from the matter-dominated phase in a quantum cosmic phantom model

The most recent observational constraints coming from Planck, when combined with other cosmological data, provide evidence for a phantom scenario. In this work we consider a quantum cosmic phantom model where both the matter particles and scalar field are associated with quantum potentials which make the effective mass associated with the matter particles to vanish at the time of matter-radiation equality, resulting in a cosmic system where a matter dominance phase followed by an accelerating expansion is allowed.

Quantum entanglement in the multiverse

In this paper it is shown that the quantum state of a multiverse made up of classically disconnected regions of the space-time, whose dynamical evolution is dominated by a homogeneous and isotropic fluid, is given by a squeezed state. These are typical quantum states that have no classical counterpart and, therefore, they allow us to analyze the violation of classical inequalities as well as the EPR argument in the context of the quantum multiverse. The thermodynamical properties of entanglement are calculated for a composite quantum state of two universes whose states are quantum mechanically correlated. The energy of entanglement between the positive and negative modes of a scalar field, which correspond to the expanding and contracting branches of a phantom universe, respectively, are also computed.

Quantum state of the multiverse

A third quantization formalism is applied to a simplified multiverse scenario. A well defined quantum state of the multiverse is obtained which agrees with standard boundary condition proposals. These states are found to be squeezed, and related to accelerating universes: they share similar properties to those obtained previously by Grishchuk and Siderov. We also comment on related works that have criticized the third quantization approach.

Is the 2008 NASA/ESA double Einstein ring actually a ringhole signature?

It is argued that whereas the Shatskiy single rings produced by the gravitational inner field of a spherically symmetric wormhole could not be used to identify the presence of such tunnelings in the universe or the existence of a parallel universe, the image which the inner gravitational field of a ringhole with toroidal symmetry would allow us to detect from a single luminous source is that of two concentric bright rings, and this is a signature that cannot be attributed to any other single astronomical object in whichever universe it may be placed. At the beginning of 2008 the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope revealed a never-before-seen phenomenon in space: a pair of glowing rings, one nestled inside the other like a bull's-eye pattern. It is also argued that such a discovery may well be attributed to the first astronomical ringhole found in the universe. After all, a ringhole is a perfectly valid solution to the Einstein equations and the stuff which makes it possible is becoming more and more familiar in cosmology.

Multidimensional quantum cosmic models: New solutions and gravitational waves

This paper contains a discussion on the quantum cosmic models, starting with the interpretation that all of the accelerating effects in the current universe are originated from the existence of a nonzero entropy of entanglement. In such a realm, we obtain new cosmic solutions for any arbitrary number of spatial dimensions, studying the stability of these solutions, so as the emergence of gravitational waves in the realm of the most general models.

Lorentzian wormholes generalizes thermodynamics still further

This paper deals with some thermodynamical aspects of Lorentzian wormholes, including the formulation of the three main laws and the consideration of a possible thermal emission made up of some sort of phantom radiation coming out from the wormhole at a negative temperature. In order for these topics to be consistently developed we have used a 2+2 formalism first advanced by Hayward for spherically symmetric space-times, where a generalized surface gravity is defined on the trapping horizon. Our results generalize still further those of the already generalized gravitational thermodynamics.

Holographic kinetic k-essence model

We consider a connection between the holographic dark energy density and the kinetic k-essence energy density in a flat FRW universe. With the choice $c\geq1$, the holographic dark energy can be described by a kinetic k-essence scalar field in a certain way. In this paper we show this kinetic k-essential description of the holographic dark energy with $c\geq1$ and reconstruct the kinetic k-essence function F(X).

Life originated during accelerating expansion in the multiverse

It is argued that all notions associated with the origin of life should be related with the participatory anthropic principle of Wheeler and must be extended into the realm of the multiverse. Also discussed is the notion that life can only be possible in a given universe during a finite period along which such a universe expands in an accelerated fashion. We advance finally the idea that life, cosmic accelerated expansion and quantum theory are nothing but three distinct faces from a single, unique coin which describes the physical reality.

Unified dark energy thermodynamics: varying w and the -1-crossing

We investigate, in a unified and general way, the thermodynamic properties of dark energy with an arbitrary, varying equation-of-state parameter w(a). We find that all quantities are well defined and regular for every w(a), including at the -1-crossing, with the temperature being negative in the phantom regime (w(a)<-1) and positive in the quintessence one (w(a)>-1). The density and entropy are always positive while the chemical potential can be arbitrary. At the -1-crossing, both temperature and chemical potential are zero. The temperature negativity can only be interpreted in the quantum framework. The regular behavior of all quantities at the -1-crossing, leads to the conclusion that such a crossing does not correspond to a phase transition, but rather to a smooth cross-over.

Thermal radiation from Lorentzian traversable wormholes

In this paper we show that, analogously to as it occurs for black holes, there exist three well-defined laws for Lorentzian wormhole thermodynamics and that these laws are related with a thermal phantom-like radiation process coming from the wormhole throat. It is argued that the existence of wormholes could be manifested by means such a radiation. These results are obtained by analyzing the Hayward formalism of spherically symmetric solutions containing trapping horizons, the phenomenon of phantom accretion onto wormholes and the development of phantom thermodynamics.

On the generalised Chaplygin gas: worse than a big rip or quieter than a sudden singularity?

Although it has been believed that the models with generalised Chaplygin gas do not contain singularities, in a previous work we have studied how a big freeze could take place in some kinds of phantom generalised Chaplygin gas. In the present work, we study some types of generalised Chaplygin gas in order to show how different sorts of singularities could appears in such models, in the future or in the past. We point out that: (i) singularities may not be originated from the phantom nature of the fluid, and (ii) if initially the tension of the brane in a brane-world Chaplygin model is large enough then an infrared cut off appears in the past.

Worse than a big rip?

We show that a generalised phantom Chaplygin gas can present a future singularity in a finite future cosmic time. Unlike the big rip singularity, this singularity happens for a finite scale factor, but like the big rip singularity, it would also take place at a finite future cosmic time. In addition, we define a dual of the generalised phantom Chaplygin gas which satisfies the null energy condition. Then, in a Randall-Sundrum 1 brane-world scenario, we show that the same kind of singularity at a finite scale factor arises for a brane filled with a dual of the generalised phantom Chaplygin gas.

A graceful multiversal link of particle physics to cosmology

In this paper we work out a multiverse scenario whose physical characteristics enable us to advance the following the conjecture that whereas the physics of particles and fields is confined to live in the realm of the whole multiverse formed by finite-time single universes, that for our observable universe must be confined just in one of the infinite number of universes of the multiverse when such a universe is consistently referred to an infinite cosmic time. If this conjecture is adopted then some current fundamental problems that appear when one tries to make compatible particle physics and cosmology- such as that for the cosmological constant, the arrow of time and the existence of a finite proper size of the event horizon- can be solved.

Astronomical bounds on future big freeze singularity

Recently it was found that dark energy in the form of phantom generalized Chaplygin gas may lead to a new form of the cosmic doomsday, the big freeze singularity. Like the big rip singularity, the big freeze singularity would also take place at a finite future cosmic time, but unlike the big rip singularity it happens for a finite scale factor. Our goal is to test if a universe filled with phantom generalized Chaplygin gas can conform to the data of astronomical observations. We shall see that if the universe is only filled with generalized phantom Chaplygin gas with equation of state $p=-c^2s^2/ρ^α$ with $α<-1$, then such a model cannot be matched to the data of astronomical observations. To construct matched models one actually need to add dark matter. This procedure results in cosmological scenarios which do not contradict the data of astronomical observations and allows one to estimate how long we are now from the future big freeze doomsday.

A dark energy multiverse

We present cosmic solutions corresponding to universes filled with dark and phantom energy, all having a negative cosmological constant. All such solutions contain infinite singularities, successively and equally distributed along time, which can be either big bang/crunchs or big rips singularities. Classicaly these solutions can be regarded as associated with multiverse scenarios, being those corresponding to phantom energy that may describe the current accelerating universe.

Accelerating Hilbert-Einstein universe without dynamic dark energy

By using an unmodified Einstein gravity theory it is shown that all of the speeding-up effects taking place in the current universe are entirely due to the quantum effects associated with the background radiation or to the combination of such effects with those derived from the presence of a cosmological constant, without invoking any dynamic dark energy component. We obtain that in both cases the universe accelerates at a rate slightly beyond what is predicted by a cosmological constant but does not induce any big rip singularity in the finite future.

Dark energy without dark energy

It is proposed that the current acceleration of the universe is not originated by the existence of a mysterious dark energy fluid nor by the action of extra terms in the gravity Lagrangian, but just from the sub-quantum potential associated with the CMB particles. The resulting cosmic scenario corresponds to a benigner phantom model which is free from the main problems of the current phantom approaches.

Some notes on the Big Trip

The big trip is a cosmological process thought to occur in the future by which the entire universe would be engulfed inside a gigantic wormhole and might travel through it along space and time. In this paper we discuss different arguments that have been raised against the viability of that process, reaching the conclusions that the process can actually occur by accretion of phantom energy onto the wormholes and that it is stable and might occur in the global context of a multiverse model. We finally argue that the big trip does not contradict any holographic bounds on entropy and information.
