Pseudospin Symmetry: Microscopic origin of the ground-state inversion in neutron-rich odd-A Cu isotopes

The role of the pseudospin symmetry in the inversion of the ground-state spin in Cu isotopes is investigated within the covariant density functional theory (CDFT). The density functional PC-PK1 gives a good agreement with the observed ground-state properties of the odd-A $^{69-79}$Cu. In particular, the inversion of the ground-state spin at $A=75$ is reproduced nicely, which can be explained by the level crossing between the proton pseudospin partners $π2p_{3/2}$ and $π1f_{5/2}$. It is found that the pseudospin symmetry plays a dominant role in the evolution of the energy splittings between the pseudospin partners. By comparing with the results of the nonrelativistic DFTs, our studies suggest that the pseudospin symmetry is essential to the shell evolution around this region.

Dynamic Quantum Group Key Agreement via Tree Key Graphs

Quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols are essential to guarantee information-theoretic security in quantum communication. Although there was some previous work on quantum group key distribution, they still face many challenges under a ``\textit{dynamic}'' group communication scenario. In particular, when the group keys need to be updated in real-time for each user joining or leaving to ensure secure communication properties, i.e., forward confidentiality and backward confidentiality. However, current protocols require a large amount of quantum resources to update the group keys, and this makes them impractical for handling large and dynamic communication groups. In this paper, we apply the notion of ``{\em tree key graph}'' to the quantum key agreement and propose two dynamic Quantum Group Key Agreement (QGKA) protocols for a join or leave request in group communications. In addition, we analyze the quantum resource consumption of our proposed protocols. The number of qubits required per join or leave only increases logarithmically with the group size. As a result, our proposed protocols are more practical and scalable for large and dynamic quantum group communications.

Study of weak radiative decays of $D^0\to V γ$

The weak radiative decay of $D^0\to Vγ$ with $V=\bar{K}^0$, and $ϕ$, $ρ^0$, and $ω$, is systematically studied in the vector meson dominance (VMD) model. It allows us to distinguish the short-distance mechanisms which can be described by the tree-level transitions in the non-relativistic constituent quark model, and the long-distance mechanisms which are related to the final-state interactions (FSIs). We find that the FSI effects play a crucial role in $D^0\to Vγ$ and the SU(3) flavor symmetry can provide a natural constraint on the relative phase between the short and long-distance transition amplitudes. Our analysis suggests that the $D$ meson weak radiative decays can serve as a good case for investigating the non-perturbative QCD mechanisms at the charm quark mass region.

Self-solidifying active droplets showing memory-induced chirality

Most synthetic microswimmers do not reach the autonomy of their biological counterparts in terms of energy supply and diversity of motion. Here we report the first all-aqueous droplet swimmer powered by self-generated polyelectrolyte gradients, which shows memory-induced chirality while self-solidifying. An aqueous solution of surface tension-lowering polyelectrolytes self-solidifies on the surface of acidic water, during which polyelectrolytes are gradually emitted into the surrounding water and induce linear self-propulsion via spontaneous symmetry breaking. The low diffusion coefficient of the polyelectrolytes leads to long-lived chemical trails which cause memory effects that drive a transition from linear to chiral motion without requiring any imposed symmetry breaking. The droplet swimmer is capable of highly efficient removal (up to 85%) of uranium from aqueous solutions within 90 min, benefiting from self-propulsion and flow-induced mixing. Our results provide a route to fueling self-propelled agents which can autonomously perform chiral motion and collect toxins.

Neutron-proton effective mass splitting in neutron-rich matter

Nucleon effective masses in neutron-rich matter are studied with the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (RBHF) theory in the full Dirac space. The neutron and proton effective masses for symmetric nuclear matter are 0.80 times rest mass, which agrees well with the empirical values. In neutron-rich matter, the effective mass of the neutron is found larger than that of the proton, and the neutron-proton effective mass splittings at the empirical saturation density are predicted as $0.187α$ with $α$ being the isospin asymmetry parameter. The result is compared to other ab initio calculations and is consistent with the constraints from the nuclear reaction and structure measurements, such as the nucleon-nucleus scattering, the giant resonances of $^{208}$Pb, and the Hugenholtz-Van Hove theorem with systematics of nuclear symmetry energy and its slope. The predictions of the neutron-proton effective mass splitting from the RBHF theory in the full Dirac space might be helpful to constrain the isovector parameters in phenomenological density functionals.

Deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum with a point-coupling functional. II. Examples of odd Nd isotopes

The aim of this work is to extend the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc) based on the point-coupling density functionals to odd-$A$ and odd-odd nuclei and examine its applicability by taking odd-$A$ Nd isotopes as examples. In the DRHBc theory, the densities and potentials with axial deformation are expanded in terms of Legendre polynomials, and the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov equations are solved in a Dirac Woods-Saxon basis to include the continuum effects. For an odd-$A$ or odd-odd nucleus, the blocking effect of unpaired nucleon(s) is taken into account with the equal filling approximation. To determine its ground state, an automatic blocking procedure is adopted, in which the orbital with the lowest quasiparticle energy is blocked during the iteration. This procedure is justified by comparing with the results from the orbital-fixed blocking calculations, in which the blocked orbital near the Fermi surface is fixed during the iteration. The ground states for both light and heavy nuclei can be provided by the automatic blocking procedure as the orbital-fixed blocking procedure, but with considerably reduced computational cost. The numerical details for even-even nuclei are found to be valid for odd-$A$ and odd-odd nuclei as well. Taking Nd isotopes including both even-even and odd-$A$ ones as examples, the calculated ground-state properties with PC-PK1 are in good agreement with the available experimental data. This work paves the way to construct the DRHBc mass table including all even-even, odd-$A$ and odd-odd nuclei in the nuclear chart.

A Remote Quantum Error-correcting Code Preparation Protocol on Cluster State

The blind quantum computation (BQC) protocol allows for privacy-preserving remote quantum computations. In this paper, we introduce a remote quantum error correction code preparation protocol for BQC using a cluster state and analyze its blindness in the measurement-based quantum computation model. Our protocol requires fewer quantum resources than previous methods, as it only needs weak coherent pulses, eliminating the need for quantum memory and limited quantum computing. The results of our theoretical analysis and simulations show that our protocol requires fewer quantum resources compared to non-coding methods with the same qubit error rate.

Accurate relativistic density functional for exchange energy of atomic nuclei

The inclusion of nucleonic exchange energy has been a long-standing challenge for the relativistic density functional theory (RDFT) in nuclear physics. We propose an orbital-dependent relativistic Kohn-Sham density functional theory to incorporate the exchange energy with local Lorentz scalar and vector potentials. The relativistic optimized effective potential equations for the local exchange potentials are derived and solved efficiently. The obtained binding energies and charge radii for nuclei are benchmarked with the results given by the traditional relativistic Hartree-Fock approach, which involves complicated nonlocal potentials. It demonstrates that the present framework is not only accurate but also efficient.

Charmed-strange tetraquarks and their decays in a potential quark model

In the framework of a nonrelativistic potential quark model, we investigate the mass spectrum of the $1S$-wave charmed-strange tetraquark states of $cn\bar{s}\bar{n}$ and $cs\bar{n}\bar{n}$ ($n=u$ or $d$) systems. The tetraquark system is solved by a correlated Gaussian method. With the same parameters fixed by the meson spectra, we obtained the mass spectra for the $1S$-wave tetraquark states. Furthermore, based on the predicted tetraquark spectra we estimate their rearrangement decays in a quark-exchange model. We find that the rearrangement decays of the tetraquarks may be mainly driven by the spin-spin interactions. The resonances $X_0(2900)^0$ and $T^a_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^{++/0}$ reported from LHCb may be assigned to be the lowest $1S$-wave tetraquark states $\bar{T}_{cs0}^f(2818)$ and $T^{a}_{c\bar{s}0}(2828)$ classified in the quark model, respectively. It also allows us to extract the couplings for the initial tetraquark states to their nearby $S$-wave interaction channels. We find that some of these couplings turn out to be sizeable. Following the picture of the wavefunction renormalization for the near-threshold strong $S$-wave interactions, the sizeable coupling strengths can be regarded as an indication of their dynamic origins as candidates for hadronic molecules. Furthermore, our predictions suggest that signals for the $1S$-wave charmed-strange tetraquark states can also be searched in the other channels, such as $D^0K^+$, $D^+K^+$, $D^{*+}K^-$, $D^{*+}K^+$, $D^{*0}K^+$, $D^0\bar{K}^{*0}$, $D_s^+ρ^0$, etc.

Predictions for feed-down enhancements at the $Λ_c \bar{D}$ and $Λ_c \bar{D}^*$ thresholds via the triangle and box singularities

We demonstrate that triangle singularity (TS) and box singularity (BS) mechanisms can produce unique narrow enhancements at the $Λ_c\bar{D}$ and $Λ_c\bar{D}^*$ thresholds in the invariant mass spectra of $J/ψp$ and $J/ψpπ$, respectively. Taking into account that such mechanisms only depend on the initial $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ interactions near threshold within the TS or BS kinematic regimes, the $Λ_c\bar{D}$ and $Λ_c\bar{D}^*$ threshold enhancements can be regarded as a feed-down phenomenon originated from both the heavier pentaquark decays and the $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ scatterings from the continuum. A search for these structures in the $J/ψp$ and $J/ψpπ$ spectra in both exclusive and semi-inclusive processes will provide a smoking-gun evidence for the hadronic molecule nature of those observed pentaquarks and clarify the role played by the TS and BS in the near-threshold dynamics.

Applying Quantum Error-correcting Codes for Fault-tolerant Blind Quantum Cloud Computation

Blind Quantum Computation (BQC) is a delegation computing protocol that allows a client to utilize a remote quantum server to implement desired quantum computations while keeping her inputs, outputs, and algorithms private. However, qubit errors during the quantum computation are important issues that need to be addressed. In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant blind quantum computation protocol with quantum error-correcting codes to avoid the accumulation and propagation of qubit errors during the computational process. We further propose to apply the concatenated codes in the protocol to improve the error correction performance. More importantly, we quantify the resource consumption of photon pulses by our optimal level concatenation codes. Extensive simulation results show that our scheme not only can improve the preparation efficiency but also reduce quantum resource consumption, which shows a significant improvement to realize a fault-tolerant BQC.

On the widths of $η(1295)$ and $η(1405/1475)$

Based on the assignment of the first radial excitation states of the isoscalar pseudoscalars for $η(1295)$ and $η(1405/1475)$, we investigate their three-body and four-body decay contributions to the total widths. In agreement with our previous studies we find that the triangle singularity (TS) mechanism arising from the intermediate $K^*\bar{K}$ rescatterings by exchanging a kaon or pion plays a crucial role in both $K\bar{K}π$ and $ηππ$ channels. For the $η_X$ ($η_X$ stands for $η(1295)$ and $η(1405/1475)$) decays into $K\bar{K}π$, we find that although the transition $η_X\to K^*\bar{K}+c.c.\to K\bar{K}π$ is the dominant tree-level process, the productions of the intermediate $K\barκ+c.c.$ and $a_0(980)π$ are strongly enhanced by the TS mechanism. For the $η_X$ decays into $ηππ$, we find that the production of the intermediate $a_0(980)π$ via the triangle transition is the dominant one for $η(1295)$ partly because of the large $η(1295)K^*\bar{K}$ coupling. In contrast, the tree-level and triangle loop contributions are compatible and dominant in the $η(1405/1475)$ decays into $ηππ$. It shows that a combined analysis is useful for disentangling the underlying dynamics for these two states.

Prior-mean-assisted Bayesian optimization application on FRIB Front-End tunning

Bayesian optimization~(BO) is often used for accelerator tuning due to its high sample efficiency. However, the computational scalability of training over large data-set can be problematic and the adoption of historical data in a computationally efficient way is not trivial. Here, we exploit a neural network model trained over historical data as a prior mean of BO for FRIB Front-End tuning.

In order to learn predictive models for recommender systems, factorization techniques have been developed to deal with user-item ratings. In this paper, we suggest a broad architecture of a factorization model with adversarial training to get over these issues. The effectiveness of our systems is demonstrated by experimental findings on real-world datasets.

Asymmetric Nuclear Matter and Neutron Star Properties in Relativistic ab initio Theory in the Full Dirac Space

The long-standing controversy about the isospin dependence of the effective Dirac mass in ab initio calculations of asymmetric nuclear matter is clarified by solving the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock equations in the full Dirac space. The symmetry energy and its slope parameter at the saturation density are $E_{\text{sym}}(ρ_0)=33.1$ MeV and $L=65.2$ MeV, in agreement with empirical and experimental values. Further applications predict the neutron star radius $R_{1.4M_\odot}\approx 12$ km and the maximum mass of a neutron star $M_{\text{max}}\leq 2.4M_\odot$.

Covariant Density Functional Theory with Localized Exchange Terms

A new density-dependent point-coupling covariant density functional PCF-PK1 is proposed, where the exchange terms of the four-fermion terms are local and are taken into account with the Fierz transformation. The coupling constants of the PCF-PK1 functional are determined by empirical saturation properties and ab initio equation of state and proton-neutron Dirac mass splittings for nuclear matter as well as the ground-state properties of selected spherical nuclei. The success of the PCF-PK1 is illustrated with properties of the infinite nuclear matter and finite nuclei including the ground-state properties and the Gamow-Teller resonances. In particular, the PCFPK1 eliminates the spurious shell closures at Z = 58 and Z = 92, which exist commonly in many covariant density functionals without exchange terms. Moreover, the Gamow-Teller resonances are nicely reproduced without any adjustable parameters, and this demonstrates that a self-consistent description for the Gamow-Teller resonances can be achieved with the localized exchange terms in the PCF-PK1. ?

Pseudoscalar charmonium pair interactions via the Pomeron exchange mechanism

Following the observation of the fully-heavy tetraquark candidates $X(6900)$ and possible $X(6300)$ in the di-$J/ψ$ spectrum by the LHCb Collaboration, we investigate the near-threshold dynamics of the pseudoscalar quarkonium pairs in a coupled-channel approach in the di-$η_c$ channel. We show that the Pomeron exchange mechanism should be a general dynamics in the near-threshold heavy quarkonium pair interactions. In the di-$η_c$ channel, a coupled-channel system involving the di-$η_c$, $η_c$-$η_c(2S)$ and di-$η_c(2S)$ interactions can be established. Their $S$-wave interactions near threshold via the Pomeron exchange potential can produce near-threshold resonance poles similar to the di-$J/ψ$, $J/ψ$-$ψ(2S)$ and di-$ψ(2S)$ coupled channels. Interestingly, we find here that the pole positions are more shifted to the corresponding thresholds and turn out to be different from those seen in the di-$J/ψ$ spectrum. Taking into account the suppression of the heavy quark spin flips in the transitions between two vector and two pseudoscalar heavy quarkonium systems, the enhancements in the di-$η_c$ spectrum should be different from those seen in the di-$J/ψ$ channel. Experimental study of the di-$η_c$ channel should be useful for disentangling the nature of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems.

The vertex corrections due to the triangle singularity mechanism in the light axial vector meson couplings to $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$

The light axial vector mesons can couple to $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ in an $S$ wave at the tree level. Due to the near-threshold $S$-wave interactions the couplings can be affected by the final state interactions. It is of peculiar interest that the pion exchange between $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ can go through a triangle diagram which is within the kinematics of the triangle singularity (TS). This mechanism will introduce energy dependence and a $D$-wave amplitude to the vertex couplings. Hence, it should be necessary to investigate the role played by the $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ threshold in order to have a better understanding of the light axial vector spectrum.
