Planar diagrammatics of self-adjoint functors and recognizable tree series

A pair of biadjoint functors between two categories produces a collection of elements in the centers of these categories, one for each isotopy class of nested circles in the plane. If the centers are equipped with a trace map into the ground field, then one assigns an element of that field to a diagram of nested circles. We focus on the self-adjoint functor case of this construction and study the reverse problem of recovering such a functor and a category given values associated to diagrams of nested circles.

Constructing non-semisimple modular categories with relative monoidal centers

This paper is a contribution to the construction of non-semisimple modular categories. We establish when Müger centralizers inside non-semisimple modular categories are also modular. As a consequence, we obtain conditions under which relative monoidal centers give (non-semisimple) modular categories, and we also show that examples include representation categories of small quantum groups. We further derive conditions under which representations of more general quantum groups, braided Drinfeld doubles of Nichols algebras of diagonal type, give (non-semisimple) modular categories.

A categorification of cyclotomic rings

For any natural number $n \geq 2$, we construct a triangulated monoidal category whose Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to the ring of cyclotomic integers $\mathbb{O}_n$.

On the Monoidal Center of Deligne's Category Rep(S_t)

We explicitly compute a monoidal subcategory of the monoidal center of Deligne's interpolation category Rep(S_t), for t not necessarily a natural number, and we show that this subcategory is a ribbon category. For t=n, a natural number, there exists a functor onto the braided monoidal category of modules over the Drinfeld double of S_n which is essentially surjective and full. Hence the new ribbon category interpolates the categories of crossed modules over the symmetric groups. As an application, we obtain invariants of framed ribbon links which are polynomials in the interpolating variable t. These polynomials interpolate untwisted Dijkgraaf-Witten invariants of the symmetric groups.

Braided commutative algebras over quantized enveloping algebras

We produce braided commutative algebras in braided monoidal categories by generalizing Davydov's full center construction of commutative algebras in centers of monoidal categories. Namely, we build braided commutative algebras in relative monoidal centers $\mathcal{Z}_{\mathcal{B}}(\mathcal{C})$ from algebras in $\mathcal{B}$-central monoidal categories $\mathcal{C}$, where $\mathcal{B}$ is an arbitrary braided monoidal category; Davydov's (and previous works of others) take place in the special case when $\mathcal{B}$ is the category of vector spaces $\mathbf{Vect}$ over a field $\Bbbk$. Since key examples of relative monoidal centers are suitable representation categories of quantized enveloping algebras, we supply braided commutative module algebras over such quantum groups. One application of our work is that we produce Morita invariants for algebras in $\mathcal{B}$-central monoidal categories. Moreover, for a large class of $\mathcal{B}$-central monoidal categories, our braided commutative algebras arise as a braided version of centralizer algebras. This generalizes the fact that centers of algebras in $\mathbf{Vect}$ serve as Morita invariants. Many examples are provided throughout.

Cell 2-Representations and Categorification at Prime Roots of Unity

Motivated by recent advances in the categorification of quantum groups at prime roots of unity, we develop a theory of 2-representations for 2-categories enriched with a p-differential which satisfy finiteness conditions analogous to those of finitary or fiat 2-categories. We construct cell 2-representations in this setup, and consider 2-categories stemming from bimodules over a p-dg category in detail. This class is of particular importance in the categorification of quantum groups, which allows us to apply our results to cyclotomic quotients of the categorifications of small quantum group of type $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ at prime roots of unity by Elias-Qi [Advances in Mathematics 288 (2016)]. Passing to stable 2-representations gives a way to construct triangulated 2-representations, but our main focus is on working with p-dg enriched 2-representations that should be seen as a p-dg enhancement of these triangulated ones.

Noncommutative Shifted Symmetric Functions

We introduce a ring of noncommutative shifted symmetric functions based on an integer-indexed sequence of shift parameters. Using generating series and quasideterminants, this multiparameter approach produces deformations of the ring of noncommutative symmetric functions. Shifted versions of ribbon Schur functions are defined and form a basis for the ring. Further, we produce analogues of Jacobi-Trudi and Nägelsbach-Kostka formulas, a duality anti-algebra isomorphism, shifted quasi-Schur functions, and Giambelli's formula in this setup. In addition, an analogue of power sums is provided, satisfying versions of Wronski and Newton formulas. Finally, a realization of these noncommutative shifted symmetric functions as rational functions in noncommuting variables is given. These realizations have a shifted symmetry under exchange of the variables and are well-behaved under extension of the list of variables.

The Relative Monoidal Center and Tensor Products of Monoidal Categories

This paper develops a theory of monoidal categories relative to a braided monoidal category, called augmented monoidal categories. For such categories, balanced bimodules are defined using the formalism of balanced functors. The two main constructions are a relative tensor product of monoidal categories as well as a relative version of the monoidal center, which are Morita dual constructions. A general existence statement for a relative tensor products is derived from the existence of pseudo-colimits. In examples, a category of locally finite weight modules over a quantized enveloping algebra is equivalent to the relative monoidal center of modules over its Borel part. A similar result holds for small quantum groups, without restricting to locally finite weight modules. More generally, for modules over braided bialgebras, the relative center is shown to be equivalent to the category of braided Yetter-Drinfeld modules (or crossed modules). This category corresponds to modules over the braided Drinfeld double (or double bosonization) which are locally finite for the action of the dual.

Comodule Algebras and 2-Cocycles over the (Braided) Drinfeld Double

We show that for dually paired bialgebras, every comodule algebra over one of the paired bialgebras gives a comodule algebra over their Drinfeld double via a crossed product construction. These constructions generalize to working with bialgebra objects in a braided monoidal category of modules over a quasitriangular Hopf algebra. Hence two ways to provide comodule algebras over the braided Drinfeld double (the double bosonization) are provided. Furthermore, a map of second Hopf algebra cohomology spaces is constructed. It takes a pair of 2-cocycles over dually paired Hopf algebras and produces a 2-cocycle over their Drinfeld double. This construction also has an analogue for braided Drinfeld doubles.

Algebras of Quasi-Plücker Coordinates are Koszul

Motivated by the theory of quasi-determinants, we study non-commutative algebras of quasi-Plücker coordinates. We prove that these algebras provide new examples of non-homogeneous quadratic Koszul algebras by showing that their quadratic duals have quadratic Gröbner bases.

On Fomin--Kirillov Algebras for Complex Reflection Groups

This note is an application of classification results for finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over groups. We apply these results to generalizations of Fomin--Kirillov algebras to complex reflection groups. First, we focus on the case of cyclic groups where the corresponding Nichols algebras are only finite-dimensional up to order four, and we include results about the existence of Weyl groupoids and finite-dimensional Nichols subalgebras for this class. Second, recent results by Heckenberger--Vendramin [ArXiv e-prints, 1412.0857 (December 2014)] on the classification of Nichols algebras of semisimple group type can be used to find that these algebras are infinite-dimensional for many non-exceptional complex reflection groups in the Shephard--Todd classification.

Pointed Hopf Algebras with Triangular Decomposition -- A Characterization of Multiparameter Quantum Groups

In this paper, we present an approach to the definition of multiparameter quantum groups by studying Hopf algebras with triangular decomposition. Classifying all of these Hopf algebras which are of what we call weakly separable type over a group, we obtain a class of pointed Hopf algebras which can be viewed as natural generalizations of multiparameter deformations of universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. These Hopf algebras are instances of a new version of braided Drinfeld doubles, which we call asymmetric braided Drinfeld doubles. This is a generalization of an earlier result by Benkart and Witherspoon (2004) who showed that two-parameter quantum groups are Drinfeld doubles. It is possible to recover a Lie algebra from these doubles in the case where the group is free abelian and the parameters are generic. The Lie algebras arising are generated by Lie subalgebras isomorphic to sl2.

Braided Drinfeld and Heisenberg Doubles

In this paper, the Drinfeld center of a monoidal category is generalized to a class of mixed Drinfeld centers. This gives a unified picture for the Drinfeld center and a natural Heisenberg analogue. Further, there is an action of the former on the latter. This picture is translated to a description in terms of Yetter-Drinfeld and Hopf modules over quasi-bialgebras in a braided monoidal category. Via braided reconstruction theory, intrinsic definitions of braided Drinfeld and Heisenberg doubles are obtained, together with a generalization of the result in [Lu94] that the Heisenberg double is a 2-cocycle twist of the Drinfeld double for general braided Hopf algebras.

Koszulness of Enveloping Algebras Associated to Generalized Yang-Baxter Equations

The universal enveloping algebra $U(\mathfrak{tr}_n)$ of a Lie algebra associated to the classical Yang-Baxter equation was introduced in [BEER06] where it was shown to be Koszul. This algebra appears as the $A_{n-1}$ case in a general class of braided Hopf algebras in [BB09] for any complex reflection group. In this paper, we show that the algebras corresponding to the series $B_n$ and $D_n$, which are again universal enveloping algebras, are Koszul. We further show how results of [BB09] can be used to produce pairs of adjoint functors between categories of rational Cherednik algebra representations of different rank and type for the classical series of Coxeter groups.
