Reconstruction of Scalar Potentials in Modified Gravity Models

We employ the superpotential technique for the reconstruction of cosmological models with a non-minimally coupled scalar field evolving on a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background. The key point in this method is that the Hubble parameter is considered as a function of the scalar field and this allows one to reconstruct the scalar field potential and determine the dynamics of the field itself, without a priori fixing the Hubble parameter as a function of time or of the scale factor. The scalar field potentials that lead to de Sitter or asymptotic de Sitter solutions, and those that reproduce the cosmological evolution given by Einstein-Hilbert action plus a barotropic perfect fluid, have been obtained.

Cosmological models with Yang-Mills fields

Cosmological models with an SU(2) Yang-Mills field are studied. For a specific model with a minimally coupled Yang-Mills Lagrangian, which includes an arbitrary function of the second-order term and a fourth-order term, a corresponding reconstruction program is proposed. It is shown that the model with minimal coupling has no de Sitter solutions, for any nontrivial function of the second-order term. To get de Sitter solutions, a gravitational model with nonminimally coupled Yang-Mills fields is then investigated. It is shown that the model with non-minimal coupling has in fact a de Sitter solution, even in absence of the cosmological constant term.

De Sitter Universe in Nonlocal Gravity

A nonlocal gravity model, which does not assume the existence of a new dimensional parameter in the action and includes a function $f(\Box^{-1} R)$, with $\Box$ the d'Alembertian operator, is considered. The model is proven to have de Sitter solutions only if the function f satisfies a certain second-order linear differential equation. The de Sitter solutions corresponding to the simplest case, an exponential function f, are explored, without any restrictions on the parameters. If the value of the Hubble parameter is positive, the de Sitter solution is stable at late times, both for negative and for positive values of the cosmological constant. Also, the stability of the solutions with zero cosmological constant is discussed and sufficient conditions for it are established in this case. New de Sitter solutions are obtained which correspond to the model with dark matter and stability is proven in this situation for nonzero values of the cosmological constant.

Stability of de Sitter Solutions in Non-local Cosmological Models

A non-local gravity model, which includes a function $f(\Box^{-1} R)$, where $\Box$ is the d'Alembert operator, is considered. For the model with an exponential $f(\Box^{-1} R)$ de Sitter solutions are explored, without any restrictions on the parameters. Using Hubble-normalized variables, the stability of the de Sitter solutions is investigated, with respect to perturbations in the Bianchi I metric, in the case of zero cosmological constant, and sufficient conditions for stability are obtained.

Dynamics in nonlocal linear models in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric

A general class of cosmological models driven by a nonlocal scalar field inspired by the string field theory is studied. Using the fact that the considering linear nonlocal model is equivalent to an infinite number of local models we have found an exact special solution of the nonlocal Friedmann equations. This solution describes a monotonically increasing Universe with the phantom dark energy.

Bouncing and Accelerating Solutions in Nonlocal Stringy Models

A general class of cosmological models driven by a non-local scalar field inspired by string field theories is studied. In particular cases the scalar field is a string dilaton or a string tachyon. A distinguished feature of these models is a crossing of the phantom divide. We reveal the nature of this phenomena showing that it is caused by an equivalence of the initial non-local model to a model with an infinite number of local fields some of which are ghosts. Deformations of the model that admit exact solutions are constructed. These deformations contain locking potentials that stabilize solutions. Bouncing and accelerating solutions are presented.

Construction of Exact Solutions in Two-Fields Models and the Crossing of the Cosmological Constant Barrier

A dark energy model with a phantom scalar field, an usual scalar field and the string field theory inspired polynomial potential has been constructed. A two-parameter set of exact solutions to the Friedmann equations has been found. We have constructed such string inspired potential that some exact solutions correspond to the state parameter $w_{DE}>-1$ at large time, whereas other ones correspond to $w_{DE}<-1$ at large time. We demonstrate that the superpotential method is very effective to seek new exact solutions. We also present a two-fields model with a polynomial potential and the state parameter, which crosses the cosmological barrier infinitely often.

On elliptic solutions of the quintic complex one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation

The Conte-Musette method has been modified for the search of only elliptic solutions to systems of differential equations. A key idea of this a priory restriction is to simplify calculations by means of the use of a few Laurent series solutions instead of one and the use of the residue theorem. The application of our approach to the quintic complex one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE5) allows to find elliptic solutions in the wave form. We also find restrictions on coefficients, which are necessary conditions for the existence of elliptic solutions for the CGLE5. Using the investigation of the CGLE5 as an example, we demonstrate that to find elliptic solutions the analysis of a system of differential equations is more preferable than the analysis of the equivalent single differential equation.

Construction of Special Solutions for Nonintegrable Systems

The Painleve test is very useful to construct not only the Laurent series solutions of systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations but also the elliptic and trigonometric ones. The standard methods for constructing the elliptic solutions consist of two independent steps: transformation of a nonlinear polynomial differential equation into a nonlinear algebraic system and a search for solutions of the obtained system. It has been demonstrated by the example of the generalized Henon-Heiles system that the use of the Laurent series solutions of the initial differential equation assists to solve the obtained algebraic system. This procedure has been automatized and generalized on some type of multivalued solutions. To find solutions of the initial differential equation in the form of the Laurent or Puiseux series we use the Painleve test. This test can also assist to solve the inverse problem: to find the form of a polynomial potential, which corresponds to the required type of solutions. We consider the five-dimensional gravitational model with a scalar field to demonstrate this.

Exactly Solvable SFT Inspired Phantom Model

An exact solution to the Friedmann equations with a string inspired phantom scalar matter field is constructed and the absence of the "Big Rip" singularity is shown explicitly. The notable features of the concerned model are a ghost sign of the kinetic term and a special polynomial form of the effective tachyon potential. The constructed solution is stable with respect to small fluctuations of the initial conditions and special deviations of the form of the potential.

Stringy Dark Energy Model with Cold Dark Matter

Cosmological consequences of adding the Cold Dark Matter (CDM) to the exactly solvable stringy Dark Energy (DE) model are investigated. The model is motivated by the consideration of our Universe as a slowly decaying D3-brane. The decay of this D-brane is described in the String Field Theory framework. Stability conditions of the exact solution with respect to small fluctuations of the initial value of the CDM energy density are found. Solutions with large initial value of the CDM energy density attracted by the exact solution without CDM are constructed numerically. In contrast to the LambdaCDM model the Hubble parameter in the model is not a monotonic function of time. For specific initial data the DE state parameter w_{DE} is also not monotonic function of time. For these cases there are two separate regions of time where w_{DE} being less than -1 is close to -1.

Crossing of the w=-1 Barrier by D3-brane Dark Energy Model

We explore a possibility for the Universe to cross the w=-1 cosmological constant barrier for the dark energy state parameter. We consider the Universe as a slowly decaying D3-brane. The D3-brane dynamics is approximately described by a nonlocal string tachyon interaction and a back reaction of gravity is incorporated in the closed string tachyon dynamics. In a local effective approximation this model contains one phantom component and one usual field with a simple polynomial interaction. To understand cosmological properties of this system we study toy models with the same scalar fields but with modified interactions. These modifications admit polynomial superpotentials. We find restrictions on these interactions under which it is possible to reach w=-1 from below at large time. Explicit solutions with the dark energy state parameter crossing/non-crossing the barrier w=-1 at large time are presented.

On elliptic solutions of the cubic complex one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation

The cubic complex one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation is considered. Using the Hone's method, based on the use of the Laurent-series solutions and the residue theorem, we have proved that this equation has neither elliptic standing wave nor elliptic travelling wave solutions. This result amplifies the Hone's result, that this equation has no elliptic travelling wave solutions.

Construction of Single-valued Solutions for Nonintegrable Systems with the Help of the Painleve Test

The Painleve test is very useful to construct not only the Laurent-series solutions but also the elliptic and trigonometric ones. Such single-valued functions are solutions of some polynomial first order differential equations. To find the elliptic solutions we transform an initial nonlinear differential equation in a nonlinear algebraic system in parameters of the Laurent-series solutions of the initial equation. The number of unknowns in the obtained nonlinear system does not depend on number of arbitrary coefficients of the used first order equation. In this paper we describe the corresponding algorithm, which has been realized in REDUCE and Maple.

On two nonintegrable cases of the generalized Henon-Heiles system with an additional nonpolynomial term

The generalized Henon-Heiles system with an additional nonpolynomial term is considered. In two nonintegrable cases new two-parameter solutions have been obtained in terms of elliptic functions. These solutions generalize the known one-parameter solutions. The singularity analysis shows that it is possible that three-parameter single-valued solutions exist in these two nonintegrable cases. The knowledge of the Laurent series solutions simplifies search of the elliptic solutions and allows to automatize it.

Construction of Special Solutions for Nonintegrable Dynamical Systems with the help of the Painleve Analysis

The generalized Henon-Heiles system has been considered. In two nonintegrable cases with the help of the Painleve test new special solutions have been found as Laurent series, depending on three parameters. The obtained series converge in some ring. One of parameters determines the singularity point location, other parameters determine coefficients of series. For some values of these parameters the obtained Laurent series coincide with the Laurent series of the known exact solutions. The Painleve test can be used not only to construct local solutions as the Laurent series but also to find elliptic solutions.

Construction of solutions for the generalized Henon-Heiles system with the help of the Painleve test

The Henon-Heiles system in the general form has been considered. In a nonintegrable case with the help of the Painleve test new solutions have been found as formal Laurent or Puiseux series, depending on three parameters. One of parameters determines a location of the singularity point, other parameters determine coefficients of series. It has been proved, that if absolute values of these two parameters are less or equal to unit, then obtained series converge in some ring. For some values of these parameters the obtained Laurent series coincide with the Laurent series of the known exact solutions.
