Psyquandles, Singular Knots and Pseudoknots

We generalize the notion of biquandles to psyquandles and use these to define invariants of oriented singular links and pseudolinks. In addition to psyquandle counting invariants, we introduce Alexander psyquandles and corresponding invariants such as Alexander psyquandle polynomials and Alexander-Gröbner psyquandle invariants of oriented singular knots and links. We consider the relationship between Alexander psyquandle colorings of pseudolinks and p-colorings of pseudolinks. As a special case we define a generalization of the Alexander polynomial for oriented singular links and pseudolinks we call the Jablan polynomial and compute the invariant for all pseudoknots with up to five crossings and all 2-bouquet graphs with up to 6 classical crossings.

Symmetric Enhancements of Involutory Virtual Birack Counting Invariants

We consider involutory virtual biracks with good involutions, also known as symmetric involutory virtual biracks. Any good involution on an involutory virtual birack defines an enhancement of the counting invariant. We provide examples demonstrating that the enhancement is stronger than the unenhanced counting invariant.

Biquasiles and Dual Graph Diagrams

We introduce \textit{dual graph diagrams} representing oriented knots and links. We use these combinatorial structures to define corresponding algebraic structures we call \textit{biquasiles} whose axioms are motivated by dual graph Reidemeister moves, generalizing the Dehn presentation of the knot group analogously to the way quandles and biquandles generalize the Wirtinger presentation. We use these structures to define invariants of oriented knots and links and provide examples.

Virtual Links with Finite Medial Bikei

We consider the question of which virtual knots have finite fundamental medial bikei. We describe and implement an algorithm for completing a presentation matrix of a medial bikei to an operation table, determining both the cardinality and isomorphism class of the fundamental medial bikei, each of which are link invariants. As an example, we compute the fundamental medial bikei for all of the prime virtual knots with up to four classical crossings as listed in the knot atlas.

Quantum Enhancements and Biquandle Brackets

We introduce a new class of quantum enhancements we call biquandle brackets, which are customized skein invariants for biquandle colored links.Quantum enhancements of biquandle counting invariants form a class of knot and link invariants that includes biquandle cocycle invariants and skein invariants such as the HOMFLY-PT polynomial as special cases, providing an explicit unification of these apparently unrelated types of invariants. We provide examples demonstrating that the new invariants are not determined by the biquandle counting invariant, the knot quandle, the knot group or the traditional skein invariants.

Parity Biquandle Invariants of Virtual Knots

We define counting and cocycle enhancement invariants of virtual knots using parity biquandles. These invariants are determined by pairs consisting of a biquandle 2-cocycle ϕ^0 and a map ϕ^1 with certain compatibility conditions leading to one-variable or two-variable polynomial invariants of virtual knots. We provide examples to show that the parity cocycle invariants can distinguish virtual knots which are not distinguished by the corresponding non-parity invariants.

Bikei Homology

We introduce a modified homology and cohomology theory for involutory biquandles (also known as \textit{bikei}). We use bikei 2-cocycles to enhance the bikei counting invariant for unoriented knots and links as well as unoriented and non-orientable knotted surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^4$.

Partially Multiplicative Biquandles and Handlebody-Knots

We introduce several algebraic structures related to handlebody-knots, including $G$-families of biquandles, partially multiplicative biquandles and group decomposable biquandles. These structures can be used to color the semiarcs in $Y$-oriented spatial trivalent graph diagrams representing $S^1$-oriented handlebody-knots to obtain computable invariants for handlebody-knots and handlebody-links. In the case of $G$-families of biquandles, we enhance the counting invariant using the group $G$ to obtain a polynomial invariant of handlebody-knots.

Lie Ideal Enhancements of Counting Invariants

We define enhancements of the quandle counting invariant for knots and links with a finite labeling quandle Q embedded in the quandle of units of a Lie algebra \mathfrak{a} using Lie ideals. We provide examples demonstrating that the enhancement is stronger than the associated unenhanced counting invariant.

Bikei Invariants and Gauss Diagrams for Virtual Knotted Surfaces

Marked vertex diagrams provide a combinatorial way to represent knotted surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^4$; including virtual crossings allows for a theory of virtual knotted surfaces and virtual cobordisms. Biquandle counting invariants are defined only for marked vertex diagrams representing knotted orientable surfaces; we extend these invariants to all virtual marked vertex diagrams by considering colorings by involutory biquandles, also known as bikei. We introduce a way of representing marked vertex diagrams with Gauss diagrams and use these to characterize orientability.

Finite Type Enhancements

We enhance the biquandle counting invariant using elements of truncated biquandle-labeled Polyak algebras. These finite type enhancements reduce to the finite type enhancements defined by Goussarov, Polyak and Viro for the trivial biquandle of one element and determine (but are not determined by) the biquandle counting invariant for general biquandles. Unlike the unlabeled case, biquandle labeled finite type invariants of degree 1 are nontrivial and are related to biquandle cocycle invariants.

Polynomial Birack Modules

Birack modules are modules over an algebra Z[X] associated to a finite birack X. In previous work, birack module structures on Z mod n were used to enhance the birack counting invariant. In this paper, we use birack modules over Laurent polynomial rings Z_n[q,1/q] to enhance the birack counting invariant, defining a customized Alexander polynomial-style signature for each X-labeled diagram; the multiset of these polynomials is an enhancement of the birack counting invariant. We provide examples to demonstrate that the new invariant is stronger than the unenhanced birack counting invariant and is not determined by the generalized Alexander polynomial.

Quotient Quandles and the Fundamental Latin Alexander Quandle

Defined by Joyce and Matveev, the fundamental quandle is a complete invariant of oriented classical knots. We consider invariants of knots defined from quotients of the fundamental quandle. In particular, we introduce the fundamental Latin Alexander quandle of a knot and consider its Gröbner basis-valued invariants, which generalize the Alexander polynomial. We show via example that the invariant is not determined by the generalized Alexander polynomial for virtual knots.

Quantum Enhancements of Involutory Birack Counting Invariants

The involutory birack counting invariant is an integer-valued invariant of unoriented tangles defined by counting homomorphisms from the fundamental involutory birack of the tangle to a finite involutory birack over a set of framings modulo the birack rank of the labeling birack. In this first of an anticipated series of several papers, we enhance the involutory birack counting invariant with quantum weights, which may be understood as tangle functors of involutory birack-labeled unoriented tangles.

Hom Quandles

If $A$ is an abelian quandle and $Q$ is a quandle, the hom set $\mathrm{Hom}(Q,A)$ of quandle homomorphisms from $Q$ to $A$ has a natural quandle structure. We exploit this fact to enhance the quandle counting invariant, providing an example of links with the same counting invariant values but distinguished by the hom quandle structure. We generalize the result to the case of biquandles, collect observations and results about abelian quandles and the hom quandle, and show that the category of abelian quandles is symmetric monoidal closed.

Augmented Biracks and their Homology

We introduce augmented biracks and define a (co)homology theory associated to augmented biracks. The new homology theory extends the previously studied Yang-Baxter homology with a combinatorial formulation for the boundary map and specializes to $N$-reduced rack homology when the birack is a rack. We introduce augmented birack 2-cocycle invariants of classical and virtual knots and links and provide examples.

Link invariants from finite racks

We define ambient isotopy invariants of oriented knots and links using the counting invariants of framed links defined by finite racks. These invariants reduce to the usual quandle counting invariant when the rack in question is a quandle. We are able to further enhance these counting invariants with 2-cocycles from the coloring rack's second rack cohomology satisfying a new degeneracy condition which reduces to the usual case for quandles.

Birack modules and their link invariants

We extend the rack algebra Z[X] defined by Andruskiewitsch and Grana to the case of biracks, enabling a notion of birack modules. We use these birack modules to define an enhancement of the birack counting invariant generalizing the birack module counting invariant in [8]. We provide examples demonstrating that the enhanced invariant is not determined by the Jones or Alexander polynomials and is strictly stronger than the unenhanced birack counting invariant.
