Mirror Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz for AdS3/CFT2

We consider superstrings on the pure-Ramond-Ramond $AdS_3\times S^3\times T^4$ background. Using the recently-proposed dressing factors for the worldsheet S matrix, we formulate the string hypothesis for the mirror Bethe-Yang equations, and use it to derive the canonical mirror thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations of the model. For the first time, these equations account for all massive and massless modes of the model, and do not resort to any limit or special kinematics. We also discuss the simplified mirror TBA equations and the Y-system of the model.

Massless S matrices for AdS3/CFT2

The AdS3/CFT2 correspondence features massless non-relativistic modes on the string worldsheet in lightcone gauge. We study in detail these excitations and highlight how they naturally split between chiral (left-moving) and anti-chiral (right-moving) representations. In light of this split we discuss the constraints on the two-particle worldsheet S matrix imposed by braiding and physical unitarity, parity, time-reversal, and crossing invariance. We also comment on the implication of this split in the mirror kinematics.

New Dressing Factors for AdS3/CFT2

The worldsheet S matrix of strings on the $AdS_3\times S^3\times T^4$ background is almost entirely fixed by symmetries, up to five functions -- the dressing factors. These must satisfy several consistency conditions, in particular a set of crossing equations. We find that the existing proposal for the dressing factors, while crossing invariant, violates some of these consistency conditions. We put forward a new set of dressing factors and discuss in detail their analytic properties in the string and mirror region, as well as under bound-state fusion.

$T\overline{T}$ Deformations of nonrelativistic models

The light-cone gauge approach to $T\overline{T}$ deformed models is used to derive the $T\overline{T}$ deformed matrix nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the Landau--Lifshitz equation, and the Gardner equation. Properties of one-soliton solutions of the $T\overline{T}$ deformed nonlinear Schrödinger and Korteweg--de Vries equations are discussed in detail. The NLS soliton exhibits the recently discussed phenomenon of widening/narrowing width of particles under the $T\overline{T}$ deformation. However, whether the soliton's size is increasing or decreasing depends not only on the sign of the deformation parameter but also on soliton and potential parameters. The $T\overline{T}$ deformed KdV equation admits a one-parameter family of one-soliton solutions in addition to the usual velocity parameter. The extra parameter modifies the properties of the soliton, in particular, it appears in the dispersion relation.

$T{\overline T}$, $\widetilde JJ$, $JT$ and $\widetilde JT$ deformations

The light-cone gauge approach to $T{\overline T}$ deformed models is generalised to models deformed by U(1) conserved currents $J^α$, $\widetilde J^α$, stress-energy tensor $T^α_β$, and their various quadratic combinations of the form $ε_{αβ} K_1^αK_2^β$. It is then applied to derive a ten-parameter deformed Hamiltonian for a system of scalars with an arbitrary potential, the flow equations for the Hamiltonian density, and the flow equations for the energy of the deformed model. The flow equations disagree with the ones recently proposed in arXiv:1903.07606. The results obtained are applied to analyse a CFT with left- and right-moving conserved currents deformed by these operators. It is shown that with a proper choice of the parameter of the $T{\overline T}$ deformation the deformed CFT Hamiltonian density is independent of the parameters of the $JΘ$ and $\bar J\overline Θ$ deformations. This leads to the existence of two extra relations which generalise the $JΘ=0$ and $\bar J\overline Θ=0$ relations of the undeformed CFT. The spectrum of the deformed CFT is found and shown to satisfy the flow equations.

TTbar deformation and the light-cone gauge

The homogeneous inviscid Burgers equation which determines the spectrum of a TTbar deformed model has a natural interpretation as the condition of the gauge invariance of the target space-time energy and momentum of a (non-critical) string theory quantised in a generalised uniform light-cone gauge which depends on the deformation parameter. As a simple application of the light-cone gauge interpretation we derive the TTbar deformed Lagrangian for a system of any number of scalars, fermions and chiral bosons with an arbitrary potential. We find that the TTbar deformation is driven by the canonical Noether stress-energy tensor but not the covariant one.

Germanium quantum well Josephson field effect transistors and interferometers

Hybrid superconductor-semiconductor structures attract increasing attention owing to a variety of potential applications in quantum computing devices. They can serve to the realization of topological superconducting systems, as well as gate-tunable superconducting quantum bits. Here we combine a SiGe/Ge/SiGe quantum-well heterostructure hosting high-mobility two-dimensional holes and aluminum superconducting leads to realize prototypical hybrid devices, such as Josephson field-effect transistors (JoFETs) and superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs). We observe gate-controlled supercurrent transport with Ge channels as long as one micrometer and estimate the induced superconducting gap from tunnel spectroscopy measurements in superconducting point-contact devices. Transmission electron microscopy reveals the diffusion of Ge into the aluminum contacts, whereas no aluminum is detected in the Ge channel.

Towards 4-point correlation functions of any 1/2-BPS operators from supergravity

The quartic effective action for Kaluza-Klein modes that arises upon compactification of type IIB supergravity on the five-sphere S^5 is a starting point for computing the four-point correlation functions of arbitrary weight 1/2-BPS operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory in the supergravity approximation. The apparent structure of this action is rather involved, in particular it contains quartic terms with four derivatives which cannot be removed by field redefinitions. By exhibiting intricate identities between certain integrals involving spherical harmonics of S^5 we show that the net contribution of these four-derivative terms to the effective action vanishes. Our result is in agreement with and provides further support to the recent conjecture on the Mellin space representation of the four-point correlation function of any 1/2-BPS operators in the supergravity approximation.

Puzzles of eta-deformed AdS_5 x S^5

We derive the part of the Lagrangian for the sigma model on the eta-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 space which is quadratic in fermions and has the full dependence on bosons. We then show that there exists a field redefinition which brings the corresponding Lagrangian to the standard form of type IIB Green-Schwarz superstring. Reading off the corresponding RR couplings, we observe that they fail to satisfy the supergravity equations of motion, despite the presence of kappa-symmetry. However, in a special scaling limit our solution reproduces the supergravity background found by Maldacena and Russo. Further, using the fermionic Lagrangian, we compute a number of new matrix elements of the tree level world-sheet scattering matrix. We then show that after a unitary transformation on the basis of two-particle states which is not one-particle factorisable, the corresponding T-matrix factorises into two equivalent parts. Each part satisfies the classical Yang-Baxter equation and coincides with the large tension limit of the q-deformed S-matrix.

S-matrix for strings on $η$-deformed AdS5 x S5

We determine the bosonic part of the superstring sigma model Lagrangian on $η$-deformed AdS5 x S5, and use it to compute the perturbative world-sheet scattering matrix of bosonic particles of the model. We then compare it with the large string tension limit of the q-deformed S-matrix and find exact agreement.

Static Gauge and Energy Spectrum of Single-mode Strings in AdS_5xS^5

Motivated by the notorious difficulties in determining the first quantum corrections to the spectrum of short strings in AdS_5xS^5 from first principles, we study closed bosonic strings in this background employing a static gauge. In this gauge the world-sheet Hamiltonian density is constant along the extension of the string and directly proportional to the square of the spacetime energy. We quantize this system in a minisuperspace approach, in which we consider only a single AdS_5 string mode excitation next to an arbitrary particle like zero-mode contribution in the full AdS_5xS^5 background. We determine the quantum spectrum using this method to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the large 't Hooft coupling expansion. We argue for an ordering prescription which should arise from supersymmetrization and indeed recover the integrability based predictions for the spectrum of the lightest excitation, dual to the Konishi field scaling dimensions. The higher excitations fail to agree, but this is shown to be a consequence of the string mode truncation employed. Despite this simple setup, our system reveals intriguing features, such as a close connection to particles in AdS_6, classical integrability and preservation of the isometries of AdS_5xS^5 at the quantum level.

Excited states in Bethe ansatz solvable models and the dressing of spin and charge

A general formalism for the study of excitations above equilibrium in Bethe ansatz solvable models is presented. Nonzero temperature expressions for dressed energy, momentum, spin and charge are obtained, and it is found that the dressed spin and charge are in general momentum dependent. For an electronic model one may only have spin-charge separation at zero temperature where the ground state is half-filled and has zero magnetisation. Finally, the excitations of the Hubbard-Shastry models are examined in detail.

Exceptional Operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills

We consider one particularly interesting class of composite gauge-invariant operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. An exceptional feature of these operators is that in the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz approach the one-loop rapidities of the constituent magnons are shown to be exact in the 't Hooft coupling constant. This is used to propose the mirror TBA description for these operators. The proposal is shown to pass several non-trivial checks.

Hubbard-Shastry lattice models

We consider two lattice models for strongly correlated electrons which are exactly-solvable in one dimension. Along with the Hubbard model and the su(2|2) spin chain, these are the only parity-invariant models that can be obtained from Shastry's R-matrix. One exhibits itinerant ferromagnetic behaviour, while for the other the electrons form bound pairs and at half-filling the model becomes insulating. We derive the TBA equations for the models, analyze them at various limits, and in particular obtain zero temperature phase diagrams. Furthermore we consider extensions of the models, which reduce to the Essler-Korepin-Schoutens model in certain limits.

Scaling dimensions from the mirror TBA

The mirror TBA equations proposed by Arutyunov, Suzuki and the author are solved numerically up to 't Hooft's coupling $λ\approx 2340$ for several two-particle states dual to ${\cal N}=4$ SYM operators from the $\sl(2)$ sector. The data obtained for states with mode numbers $n=1,2,3,4$ is used to propose a general charge $J$ dependent formula for the first nonvanishing subleading coefficient in the strong coupling expansion of scaling dimensions. In addition we find that the first critical and subcritical values of the coupling for the $J=4, n=1$ operator are at $λ\approx 133$ and $λ\approx 190$, respectively.

Bound States in the Mirror TBA

The spectrum of the light-cone AdS_5 \times S^5 superstring contains states composed of particles with complex momenta including in particular those which turn into bound states in the decompactification limit. We propose the mirror TBA description for these states. We focus on a three-particle state which is a finite-size representative of a scattering state of a fundamental particle and a two-particle bound state and dual to an operator from the su(2) sector of N=4 SYM. We find that the analytic behavior of Y-functions differs drastically from the case of states with real momenta. Most importantly, Y_Q-functions exhibit poles in the analyticity strip which leads to the appearance of new terms in the formula for the energy of this state. In addition, the TBA equations are supplied by quantization conditions which involve Y_2. Considering yet another example of a three-particle state, we find that the corresponding quantization conditions do not even involve Y_1. Our treatment can be generalized to a wide class of states with complex momenta.
