k-inflation: Non-separable case meets ACT measurements

We investigate a non-separable subset of $k$-essence in which the kinetic and potential sectors interact through an $X^ρV(ϕ)$ coupling, implemented via a potential-dependent prefactor $f(ϕ)=1+2\mathcal{K}V$. In slow roll, this structure preserves a constant sound speed $c_s^2=1/(2ρ-1)$ while modifying the Hubble flow in a controlled way, thereby shifting the inflationary observables relative to the separable template. For monomial potentials $V=Aϕ^n$ (with $n=2$ and $n=2/3$ as representative cases) we derive closed analytic expressions for $n_s(N_\ast)$ and $r(N_\ast)$ to $\mathcal{O}(ε_{\rm mix}^2)$, where $ε_{\rm mix}\propto\mathcal{K}$ encodes the non-separable $X^ρV$ mixing, and we validate them against exact background integrations. The analytic and numerical predictions agree at the sub-per-mille level for $n_s$ and at the percent level for $r$, confirming the accuracy of the small-mixing expansion. For $\mathcal{K}<0$ the mixing systematically lowers both $n_s$ and $r$ at fixed $N_\ast$, allowing otherwise marginal monomials to fall within the region favored by recent ACT+{\it Planck}+BAO constraints (P--ACT--LB). All solutions shown satisfy the health conditions $f(ϕ)>0$, $ρ>\tfrac12$, and the positivity bound $V<1/(2|\mathcal K|)$ (from $f>0$). We also discuss parameter dependence and the expected equilateral-type non-Gaussianity, which remains comfortably within current bounds for the benchmarks considered.

Tilt and Tensor-to-Scalar Ratio in Multi-Scalar Field Inflation: Non-Sum-Separable Case

The canonical multi-scalar field inflation where the kinetic and potential terms are sum-separable is ruled out by the current observations for the chaotic-type potential $V=\sum_{i} μ_{i} ϕ_{i}^{p}$. This paper explores the non-sum-separable case to validate the chaotic-type potential in the multi-scalar field, incorporating a linear coupling term between the kinetic and potential terms in the canonical Lagrangian. This coupling influences the slow-roll parameters and also alters our predictions for the spectral index $n_{s}$ and the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, which directly depend on those parameters. In fact, compared to standard canonical multi-field inflation, the values of $n_{s}$ and $r$ decrease to levels consistent with the recent Planck+BICEP/Keck constraint.

Criticality and thermodynamic geometry of quantum BTZ black holes

Within the framework of extended black hole thermodynamics, where the cosmological constant acts as the thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate as the thermodynamic volume, we analyze the phase structure and thermodynamic geometry of the three-dimensional quantum-corrected BTZ (qBTZ) black hole. Our results uncover two-phase transitions in the $T-S$ plane across all pressures except at a critical value. Numerical analysis reveals continuous critical phenomena along the coexistence curve, with critical exponents of 2 and 3 for the heat capacity at constant pressure and the NTG curvature, respectively. Importantly, these values notably deviate from the well-known critical exponents observed in mean-field Van der Waals (VdW) fluids, where the NTG curvature and heat capacity demonstrate discontinuous criticality. To our knowledge, our investigation is the first exploration of critical behavior in black holes incorporating consistent semiclassical backreaction.

Alleviating $H_0$ and $S_8$ Tensions Simultaneously in K-essence Cosmology

The present work begins by examining the early-Universe inflationary epoch of a special K-essence model, which incorporates a linear coupling term between the scalar field potential and the canonical Lagrangian. For the power law potential, we both numerically and analytically prove that the inflationary parameters such as the spectral index and tensor-to-scalar ratio are compatible with the recent BICEP/Keck observations. Continuing this work, our analysis based on comparing early-Universe observations with late-Universe measurements indicates that the tension on the Hubble parameter $H_0$ and the growth of structure parameter $S_8$ can be alleviated simultaneously. More precisely, compared to the standard $Λ$CDM model, our model can reduce $H_0$ tension to roughly $2.2 σ$ and the $S_8$ discrepancy diminishes to $0.82σ$.

$\mathbb{T}^{2}$- inflation: Sourced by energy-momentum squared gravity

In this paper, we examine chaotic inflation within the context of the energy-momentum squared gravity (EMSG) focusing on the energy-momentum powered gravity (EMPG) that incorporates the functional $f(\mathbb{T}^2)\propto (\mathbb{T}^2)^β$ in the Einstein-Hilbert action, in which $β$ is a constant and $\mathbb{T}^2\equiv T_{μν}T^{μν}$ where $T_{μν}$ is the energy-momentum tensor, which we consider to represent a single scalar field with a power-law potential. We demonstrate that the presence of EMSG terms allows the single-field monomial chaotic inflationary models to fall within current observational constraints, which are otherwise disfavored by Planck and BICEP/Keck findings. We show that the use of a non-canonical Lagrangian with chaotic potential in EMSG can lead to significantly larger values of the non-Gaussianity parameter, $f_{\rm Nl}^{\rm equi}$ whereas EMSG framework with canonical Lagrangian gives rise to results similar to those of the standard single-field model.

PBHs and GWs from $\mathbb{T}^2$-inflation and NANOGrav 15-year data

In this paper, we propose a novel mechanism in $\mathbb{T}^2$-inflation to enhance the power spectrum large enough to seed primordial black holes (PBHs) formation. To accomplish this, we consider the coupling function between the inflaton field and $\mathbb{T}^2= T_{μν}T^{μν}$ term. PBHs formed within this scenario can contribute partially or entirely to dark matter (DM) abundance. Furthermore, the amplification in the scalar power spectrum will concurrently produce significant scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs) as a second-order effect. In addition, the energy spectrum associated with SIGWs can be compatible with the recent NANOGrav 15-year stochastic gravitational wave detection and fall into the sensitivity range of other forthcoming GW observatories.

Inflation from Multiple Pseudo-Scalar Fields: PBH Dark Matter and Gravitational Waves

We study a model of inflation with multiple pseudo-scalar fields coupled to a $U(1)$ gauge field through Chern-Simons interactions. Because of parity violating interactions, one polarization of the gauge field is amplified yielding to enhanced curvature perturbation power spectrum. Inflation proceeds in multiple stages as each pseudo-scalar field rolls towards its minimum yielding to distinct multiple peaks in the curvature perturbations power spectrum at various scales during inflation. The localized peaks in power spectrum generate Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) which can furnish a large fraction of Dark Matter (DM) abundance. In addition, gravitational waves (GWs) with non-trivial spectra are generated which are in sensitivity range of various forthcoming GW observatories.

Multi-field Cuscuton Cosmology

In this paper, we first introduce a multi-field setup of Cuscuton gravity in a curved field space manifold. Then, we show that this model allows for a regular bouncing cosmology and it does not lead to ghosts or other instabilities at the level of perturbations. More precisely, by decomposing the scalar fields perturbations into the tangential and normal components with respect to the background field space trajectory, the entropy mode perpendicular to the background trajectory is healthy which directly depends on the signature of the field-space metric, whereas the adiabatic perturbation tangential to the background trajectory is frozen. In analogy with the standard Cuscuton theory equipped with an extra dynamical scalar field, the adiabatic field does not have its own dynamics, but it modifies the dynamics of other dynamical fields like entropy mode in our scenario. Finally, we perform a Hamiltonian analysis of our model in order to count the degrees of freedom propagated by dynamical fields.

Planar Black Holes in Holographic Axion Gravity: Islands, Page Times, and Scrambling Times

The present work investigates the entanglement entropies of the Hawking radiations, the Page times, and the scrambling times, for the eternal planar black holes in the holographic axion gravity. The solutions correspond to a new class of charged black holes, because the boundary diffeomorphism is broken due to the graviton mass induced by the axion fields in the bulk. The information theoretical aspects of these black hole solutions is determined upon applying the island rule for the entanglement entropy. Like non-extremal charged black holes, the radiation entropy grows linearly in the no-island configurations, while is saturated at late times by asymptotic values set by the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy in the island configurations, with the boundary being located slightly outside the outer horizon. In particular, for the extremal black planes of holographic axion gravity, we find that: (a) the entanglement entropy of the Hawking radiation is ill-defined at the early times when the island is absent; (b) it tends to a distinctive constant at the late times; (c) the late-time location of the island is indeed universal. Moreover, we investigate how the Page time is affected by the holographic massive gravity deformation. For neutral solutions at the small deformation parameter, and for charged solutions with almost-extremal deformation parameter, we find that the Page transition happens at earlier times.

Probing inside a charged hairy black hole in massive gravity

In this paper, we investigate the internal structure of a charged hairy black hole solution in the non-linear massive gravity. We first consider the impact of various configurations of massive gravity on the condensate operator and then probe the black hole interior dynamics. Like a standard holographic superconductor system, just below the critical temperature, the interior evolves through several distinct epochs, including a collapse of the Einstein-Rosen bridge, Josephson oscillations of the scalar field, and finally a Kasner (or Kasner inversion) cosmology. However, for the large massive gravity parameter, we see distinguishing features for the interior dynamics. In this regime, at a given temperature, the Einstein-Rosen bridge collapse and subsequent Josephson oscillations epochs completely disappear from the interior dynamics and the final Kasner cosmology epoch starts exactly after the would-be inner horizon and the system does not experience the Kasner inversion epoch.

Multi-field Mimetic Gravity

In this paper, we extend the mimetic gravity to the multi-field setup with a curved field space manifold. The multi-field mimetic scenario is realized via the singular limit of the conformal transformation between the auxiliary and the physical metrics. We look for the cosmological implications of the setup where it is shown that at the background level the mimetic energy density mimics the roles of dark matter. At the perturbation level, the scalar field perturbations are decomposed into the tangential and normal components with respect to the background field space trajectory. The adiabatic perturbation tangential to the background trajectory is frozen while the entropy mode perpendicular to the background trajectory propagates with the speed of unity. Whether or not the entropy perturbation is healthy directly depends on the signature of the field-space metric. We perform the full non-linear Hamiltonian analysis of the system with the curved field space manifold and calculate the physical degrees of freedom verifying that the system is free from the Ostrogradsky-type ghost.

Universal criticality of thermodynamic geometry for boundary conformal field theories in gauge/gravity duality

According to more recent AdS/CFT interpretation \cite{Karch:2015rpa}, in which varying cosmological constant $Λ$ in the bulk corresponds to varying the curvature radius governing the space on which the field theory resides, we study the criticality of thermodynamic curvatures for thermal boundary conformal field theories (CFT) that are dual to $d$-dimensional charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes, embedded in $D$-dimensional M-theory/superstring inspired models having $AdS_{d}\times \mathbb{S}^{d+k}$ spacetime with $D=2d+k$. Analogous with criticality features acquired for charged AdS black holes in the bulk \cite{HosseiniMansoori:2020jrx}, the normalized intrinsic curvature $R_N$ and extrinsic curvature $K_N$ of the boundary CFT has critical exponents 2 and 1, respectively. In this respect, the universal amplitude of $R_Nt^2$ is $\frac{1}{2}$ and $K_Nt$ is $-\frac{1}{2}$ when $t\rightarrow0^-$, whereas $R_Nt^2\approx \frac{1}{8}$ and $K_Nt\approx\frac{1}{4}$ in the limit $t\rightarrow0^+$ in which $t=T/T_c-1$ is the temperature parameter with the critical temperature, $T_{c}$. Interestingly, these critical amplitudes are independent of the number of thermal CFT dimensions and are remarkably similar to one given for higher dimensional charged AdS black holes in the bulk.

What's inside a hairy black hole in massive gravity?

In the context of massive gravity theories, we study holographic flows driven by a relevant scalar operator and interpolating between a UV 3-dimensional CFT and a trans-IR Kasner universe. For a large class of scalar potentials, the Cauchy horizon never forms in presence of a non-trivial scalar hair, although, in absence of it, the black hole solution has an inner horizon due to the finite graviton mass. We show that the instability of the Cauchy horizon triggered by the scalar field is associated to a rapid collapse of the Einstein-Rosen bridge. The corresponding flows run smoothly through the event horizon and at late times end in a spacelike singularity at which the asymptotic geometry takes a general Kasner form dominated by the scalar hair kinetic term. Interestingly, we discover deviations from the simple Kasner universe whenever the potential terms become larger than the kinetic one. Finally, we study the effects of the scalar deformation and the graviton mass on the Kasner singularity exponents and show the relationship between the Kasner exponents and the entanglement and butterfly velocities probing the black hole dynamics. Differently from the holographic superconductor case, we can prove explicitly that Josephson oscillations in the interior of the BH are absent.

Thermodynamic geometry of the novel 4-D Gauss Bonnet AdS Black Hole

In this paper, the new formalism of thermodynamic geometry proposed in [1] is employed in investigating phase transition points and the critical behavior of a Gauss Bonnet-AdS black hole in four dimensional spacetime. In this regard, extrinsic and intrinsic curvatures of a certain kind of hypersurface immersed in the thermodynamic manifold contain information about stability/instability of heat capacities. We, therefore, calculate the intrinsic curvature of the $Q$-zero hypersurface for a four-dimensional neutral Gauss Bonnet black hole case in the extended phase space. Interestingly, intrinsic curvature can be positive for small black holes at low temperature, which indicates a repulsive interaction among black hole microstructures. This finding is in contrast with the five-dimensional neutral Gauss Bonnet black hole with only dominant attractive interaction between its microstructures.

Mimetic Inflation

We study inflationary solution in an extension of mimetic gravity with the higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity. Because of the higher derivative interactions, the setup is free from the ghost and gradient instabilities while it hosts a number of novel properties. The dispersion relation of scalar perturbations develops quartic momentum correction similar to the setup of ghost inflation. Furthermore, the tilt of tensor perturbations can take either signs with a modified consistency relation between the tilt and the amplitude of tensor perturbations. Despite the presence of higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity, the tensor perturbations propagate with a speed equal to the speed of light as required by the LIGO observations. Furthermore, the higher derivative interactions induce non-trivial interactions in cubic Hamiltonian, generating non-Gaussianities in various shapes such as the equilateral, orthogonal, and squeezed configurations with observable amplitudes.

Universal criticality of thermodynamic curvatures for charged AdS black holes

In this paper, we analytically study the critical exponents and universal amplitudes of the thermodynamic curvatures such as the intrinsic and extrinsic curvature at the critical point of the small-large black hole phase transition for the charged AdS black holes. At the critical point, it is found that the normalized intrinsic curvature $R_N$ and extrinsic curvature $K_N$ has critical exponents 2 and 1, respectively. Based on them, the universal amplitudes $R_Nt^2$ and $K_Nt$ are calculated with the temperature parameter $t=T/T_c-1$ where $T_c$ the critical value of the temperature. Near the critical point, we find that the critical amplitude of $R_Nt^2$ and $K_Nt$ is $-\frac{1}{2}$ when $t\rightarrow0^+$, whereas $R_Nt^2\approx -\frac{1}{8}$ and $K_Nt\approx-\frac{1}{4}$ in the limit $t\rightarrow0^-$. These results not only hold for the four dimensional charged AdS black hole, but also for the higher dimensional cases. Therefore, such universal properties will cast new insight into the thermodynamic geometries and black hole phase transitions.

Inflation with multiple vector fields and non-Gaussianities

We consider a model of inflation consisting a triplet of $U(1)$ vector fields with the parity violating interaction which is non-minimally coupled to inflaton. The vector field sector enjoys global $O(3)$ symmetry which admits isotropic configuration and provides not only vector modes but also scalar and tensor modes. We decompose the scalar perturbations into the adiabatic, entropy and isocurvature perturbations and compute all power spectra and cross correlations of the scalar and the tensor sectors. The tensor modes associated with the vector fields contribute to the power spectrum of gravitational waves while the parity violating term generates chirality in gravitational power spectra and bispectra. We study nonlinear scalar and tensor perturbations and compute all bispectra and three-point cross-correlations. In particular, it is shown that the non-Gaussianity of curvature perturbations and gravitational waves are enhanced by the vector field perturbations. We show that non-Gaussianities put strong constraints on the model parameters such as the parity violating coupling and the fractional energy of the vector fields.

Complexity Growth, Butterfly Velocity and Black hole Thermodynamics

We propose a connection between the butterfly velocity and the complexity growth rate in the context of thermodynamics of black holes where the cosmological constant is interpreted as thermodynamic pressure. According to the Smarr formula of black hole systems, there are different relations between butterfly velocity and complexity growth rate. The accuracy of this relationship has been checked for several models.
