Geometrothermodynamics as a singular conformal thermodynamic geometry

In this letter, we first redefine our formalism of the thermodynamic geometry introduced in [1,2] by changing coordinates of the thermodynamic space by means of Jacobian matrices. We then show that the geometrothermodynamics (GTD) is conformally related to this new formalism of the thermodynamic geometry. This conformal transformation is singular at unphysical points were generated in GTD metric. Therefore, working with our metric neatly excludes all unphysical points without imposing any constraints.

Charged Vector Inflation

We present a model of inflation in which the inflaton field is charged under a triplet of $U(1)$ gauge fields. The model enjoys an internal $O(3)$ symmetry supporting the isotropic FRW solution. With an appropriate coupling between the gauge fields and the inflaton field, the system reaches an attractor regime in which the gauge fields furnish a small constant fraction of the total energy density. We decompose the scalar perturbations into the adiabatic and entropy modes and calculate the contributions of the gauge fields into the curvature perturbations power spectrum. We also calculate the entropy power spectrum and the adiabatic-entropy cross correlation. In addition to the metric tensor perturbations, there are tensor perturbations associated with the gauge field perturbations which are coupled to metric tensor perturbations. We show that the correction in primordial gravitational tensor power spectrum induced from the matter tensor perturbation is a sensitive function of the gauge coupling.

Holographic complexity of anisotropic black branes

We use the complexity = action (CA) conjecture to study the full-time dependence of holographic complexity in anisotropic black branes. We find that the time behaviour of holographic complexity of anisotropic systems shares a lot of similarities with the behaviour observed in isotropic systems. In particular, the holographic complexity remains constant for some initial period, and then it starts to change so that the complexity growth rate violates the Lloyd's bound at initial times, and approaches this bound from above at later times. Compared with isotropic systems at the same temperature, the anisotropy reduces the initial period in which the complexity is constant and increases the rate of change of complexity. At late times the difference between the isotropic and anisotropic results is proportional to the pressure difference in the transverse and longitudinal directions.

Unbalanced Stückelberg Holographic Superconductors with Backreaction

We numerically investigate some properties of unbalanced Stückelberg holographic superconductors, by considering backreaction effects of fields on the background geometry. More precisely, we study the impacts of the chemical potential mismatch and Stückelberg mechanism on the condensation and conductivity types (electrical, spin, mixed, thermo-electric, thermo-spin and thermal conductivity). Our results show that the Stückelberg's model parameters $C_α$ and $α$ not only have significant impacts on the phase transition, but also affect the conductivity pseudo-gap and the strength of conductivity fluctuations. Moreover, the effects of these parameters on a system will be gradually reduced as the imbalance grows. We also find that the influence of $α$ on the amplitude of conductivity fluctuations depends on the magnitude of the both $C_α$ and $δμ/μ$ in the electric and thermal conductivity cases. This results in that increasing $α$ can damp the conductivity fluctuations of an unbalanced system in contrast to balanced ones.

Two-field disformal transformation and mimetic cosmology

We extend the disformal transformation to models with two scalar fields and look at its singular limit. Solving the eigentensor equation for the Jacobian of the transformation of the metrics we find the two-field extension of the mimetic scenario in the singular conformal limit. At the background level the setup mimics the roles of dark matter cosmology. We decompose the perturbations into the adiabatic and entropy modes in which the adiabatic perturbation is tangential to the classical trajectory while the entropy mode is perpendicular to it. We show that the adiabatic mode is frozen while the entropy mode propagates with the sound speed equal to unity with no instabilities.

Diffusivities bounds in the presence of Weyl corrections

In this paper, we investigate the behavior of the thermoelectric DC conductivities in the presence of Weyl corrections with momentum dissipation in the incoherent limit. Moreover, we compute the butterfly velocity and study the charge and energy diffusion with broken translational symmetry. Our results show that the Weyl coupling $γ$, violates the bounds on the charge and energy diffusivity. It is also shown that the Weyl corrections violate the bound on the DC electrical conductivity in the incoherent limit.

Gauge Field Mimetic Cosmology

We extend the mimetic cosmology to models containing gauge invariant $p$-forms. The $0$-form case reproduces the well-known results of the mimetic dark matter, the $1$-form corresponds to the gauge field mimetic model while the $2$-form model is the Hodge dual of the $0$-form model in $4$ spacetime dimensions. We study the cosmological applications of the new gauge field mimetic model and show that it generates an energy density component which mimics the roles of spatial curvature. In the presence of the Maxwell term, the model also supports the flat, open and closed de Sitter-like cosmological backgrounds while the spatial geometry is flat for all three cases. We perform the cosmological perturbations analysis and show that the model is stable in the case of open de Sitter-like solution while it suffers from ghost instabilities in the case of the closed de Sitter-like solution.

Higher Derivative Mimetic Gravity

We study cosmological perturbations in mimetic gravity in the presence of classified higher derivative terms which can make the mimetic perturbations stable. We show that the quadratic higher derivative terms which are independent of curvature and the cubic higher derivative terms which come from curvature corrections are sufficient to remove instabilities in mimetic perturbations. The advantage of working with the classified higher derivative terms is that we can control both the background and the perturbation equations allowing us to construct the higher derivative extension of mimetic dark matter and the mimetic nonsingular bouncing scenarios. The latter can be thought as a new higher derivative effective action for the loop quantum cosmology scenario in which the equations of motion coincide with those suggested by loop quantum cosmology. We investigate a possible connection between the mimetic cosmology and the Randall-Sundrum cosmology.

Instabilities in Mimetic Matter Perturbations

We study cosmological perturbations in mimetic matter scenario with a general higher derivative function. We calculate the quadratic action and show that both the kinetic term and the gradient term have the wrong sings. We perform the analysis in both comoving and Newtonian gauges and confirm that the Hamiltonians and the associated instabilities are consistent with each other in both gauges. The existence of instabilities is independent of the specific form of higher derivative function which generates gradients for mimetic field perturbations. It is verified that the ghost instability in mimetic perturbations is not associated with the higher derivative instabilities such as the Ostrogradsky ghost.

Extrinsic and intrinsic curvatures in thermodynamic geometry

We investigate the intrinsic and extrinsic curvatures of certain hypersurfaces in the thermodynamic geometry of a physical system and show that they contain useful thermodynamic information. For an anti-Reissner-Nordström-(A)de Sitter black hole (Phantom), the extrinsic curvature of a constant $Q$ hypersurface has the same sign as the heat capacity around the phase transition points. For a Kerr-Newmann-AdS (KN-AdS) black hole, the extrinsic curvature of $Q \to 0$ hypersurface (Kerr black hole) or $J \to 0$ hypersurface (RN black black hole) has the same sign as the heat capacity around the phase transition points. The extrinsic curvature also diverges at the phase transition points. The intrinsic curvature of the hypersurfaces diverges at the critical points but has no information about the sign of the heat capacity. Our study explains the consistent relationship holding between the thermodynamic geometry of the KN-AdS black holes and those of the RN and Kerr ones \cite{ref1}. This approach can be easily generalized to an arbitrary thermodynamic system.

Holographic Complexity in Gauge/String Superconductors

Following a methodology similar to \cite{Alishahiha:2015rta}, we derive a holographic complexity for two dimensional holographic superconductors (gauge/string superconductors) with backreactions. Applying a perturbation method proposed by Kanno in Ref. \cite{kanno}, we study behaviors of the complexity for a dual quantum system near critical points. We show that when a system moves from the normal phase ($T>T_c$) to the superconductor phase ($T<T_c$), the holographic complexity will be divergent.

Critical behaviors and phase transitions of black holes in higher order gravities and extended phase spaces

We consider the critical behaviors and phase transitions of Gauss Bonnet-Born Infeld-AdS black holes (GB-BI-AdS) for $d=5,6$ and the extended phase space. We assume the cosmological constant, $Λ$, the coupling coefficient $α$, and the BI parameter $β$ to be thermodynamic pressures of the system. Having made these assumptions, the critical behaviors are then studied in the two canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We find "reentrant and triple point phase transitions" (RPT-TP) and "multiple reentrant phase transitions" (multiple RPT) with increasing pressure of the system for specific values of the coupling coefficient $α$ in the canonical ensemble. Also, we observe a reentrant phase transition (RPT) of GB-BI-AdS black holes in the grand canonical ensemble and for $d=6$. These calculations are then expanded to the critical behavior of Born-Infeld-AdS (BI-AdS) black holes in the third order of Lovelock gravity and in the grand canonical ensemble to find a Van der Waals behavior for $d=7$ and a reentrant phase transition for $d=8$ for specific values of potential $ϕ$ in the grand canonical ensemble. Furthermore, we obtain a similar behavior for the limit of $β\to \infty$, i.e charged-AdS black holes in the third order of the Lovelock gravity. Thus, it is shown that the critical behaviors of these black holes are independent of the parameter $β$ in the grand canonical ensemble.

Entanglement Thermodynamics of the Generalized Charged BTZ Black Hole

In this paper, we investigate the entanglement entropy for the generalized charged BTZ black hole through the $AdS_{3}/CFT_{2}$ correspondence. Using the holographic description of the entanglement entropy for the strip-subsystem in boundary $CFT_{2}$, we will find the first law-like relation between the variation of holographic entanglement entropy and the variation of energy of the subsystem in terms of the mass and the electric charge up to the second order. We also obtain appropriate counterterms to renormalize the energy tensor associated with the bulk on-shell actions.

Non-Abelian Aharonov-Bohm effect with the time-dependent gauge fields

We investigate the non-Abelian Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect for time-dependent gauge fields. We prove that the non-Abelian AB phase shift related to time-dependent gauge fields, in which the electric and magnetic fields are written in the adjoint representation of $SU(N)$ generators, vanishes up to the first order expansion of the phase factor. Therefore, the flux quantization in a superconductor ring does not appear in the time-dependent Abelian or non-Abelian AB effect.

Hessian matrix, specific heats, Nambu brackets, and thermodynamic geometry

As an extension to our earlier work \cite{Mirza2}, we employ the Nambu brackets to prove that the divergences of heat capacities correspond to their counterparts in thermodynamic geometry. We also obtain a simple representation for the conformal transformations that connect different thermodynamics metrics to each other. Using our bracket approach, we obtain interesting exact relations between the Hessian matrix with any number of parameters and specific heat capacities. Finally, we employ this approach to investigate some thermodynamic properties of the Meyers-Perry black holes with three spins.

Black hole temperature: minimal coupling vs conformal coupling

In this article, we discuss the propagation of scalar fields in conformally transformed spacetimes with either minimal or conformal coupling. The conformally coupled equation of motion is transformed into a one-dimensional Schrödinger-like equation with an invariant potential under conformal transformation. In a second stage, we argue that calculations based on conformal coupling yield the same Hawking temperature as those based on minimal coupling. Finally, it is conjectured that the quasi normal modes of black holes are invariant under conformal transformation.
