Scalar Perturbations of Charged Dilaton Black Holes

We have studied the scalar perturbation of static charged dilaton black holes in 3+1 dimensions. The black hole considered here is a solution to the low-energy string theory in 3+1 dimensions. The quasinormal modes for the scalar perturbations are calculated using the third order WKB method. The dilaton coupling constant has a considerable effect on the values of quasi normal modes. It is also observed that there is a linear relation between the quasi normal modes and the temperature for large black holes.

Greybody Factors of Charged Dilaton Black Holes in 2 + 1 Dimensions

We have studied scalar perturbations of charged dilaton black holes in 2+1 dimensions. The black hole considered here is a solution to the low-energy string theory in 2+1 dimensions. The exact decay rates and the grey body factors for the massless minimally coupled scalar is computed for both the charged and the uncharged dilaton black holes. The charged and the uncharged black hole show similar behavior for grey body factors, reflection coefficients and decay rates.

Null trajectories and bending of light in charged black holes with quintessence

We have studied null geodesics of the charged black hole surrounded by quintessence. Quintessence is a candidate for dark energy and is represented by a scalar field. Here, we have done a detailed study of the photon trajectories. The exact solutions for the trajectories are obtained in terms of the Jacobi-elliptic integrals for all possible energy and angular momentum of the photons. We have also studied the bending angle using the Rindler and Ishak method.

Black holes in massive gravity: quasinormal modes of Dirac field perturbations

We have studied quasinormal modes of spinor $\frac{1}{2}$, massless Dirac field perturbations of a black hole in massive gravity. The parameters of the theory, such as the mass of the black hole, the scalar charge of the black hole, mode number and the multipole number are varied to observe how the corresponding quasinormal frequencies change. We have also used the P$\ddot{o}$schl-Teller approximation to reach analytical values for the frequencies of quasinormal modes for comparison with the numerically obtained values. Comparisons are done with the frequencies of the Schwarzschild black hole.

Quasi normal modes and the area spectrum of a near extremal de Sitter black hole with conformally coupled scalar field

In this paper we have studied a black hole in de Sitter space which has a conformally coupled scalar field in the background. This black hole is also known as the $MTZ$ black hole. We have obtained exact values for the quasi normal mode frequencies under massless scalar field perturbations. We have demonstrated that when the black hole is near-extremal, that the wave equation for the massless scalar field simplifies to a Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger type equation with the well known P$\ddot{o}$shler-Teller potential. We have also used 6th order WKB approximation to compute quasinormal mode frequencies to compare with exact values obtained via the P$\ddot{o}$shler-Tell method for comparison. As an application, we have obtained the area spectrum using modified Hods approach and show that it is equally spaced.

Black holes in massive gravity: Quasi-normal modes of scalar perturbations

We have studied quasinormal modes of scalar perturbations of a black hole in massive gravity. The parameters of the theory, such as the mass of the black hole, the scalar charge of the black hole and the spherical harmonic index is varied to see how the corresponding quasinormal frequencies change. We have also studied the massive scalar field perturbations. Most of the work is done using WKB approach while sections are devoted to compute quasinormal modes via the unstable null geodesics approach and the Poschl-Teller approximation. Comparisons are done with the Schwarzschild black hole.

String black hole: Can it be a particle accelerator ?

In this paper we have studied the possibility of the center-of-mass energy of two particles colliding near the horizon of a static charged black hole in string theory. Various cases corresponding to the electric charge and the angular momentum of the particles were considered. The studies were done for the general black hole as well as for the extreme black hole. There were two scenarios where the center-of-mass energy reach very large values if the appropriate properties of the particles are chosen.

Nariai black holes with quintessence

In this paper we study the properties of Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence matter. The main objective of the paper is to show the existence of Nariai type black hole for special values of the parameters in the theory. The Nariai black hole with the quintessence has the topology $dS_2 \times S_2$ with $dS_2$ with a different scalar curvature than what would be expected for the Schwarzschild-de Sitter degenerate black hole. Temperature and the entropy for the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole and the Schwarzschild-quintessence black hole are compared. The temperature and the curvature are computed for general values of the state parameter $ω$.

Quasinormal Modes of Charged Dilaton Black Holes in 2+1 Dimensions

We have studied the scalar perturbation of static charged dilaton black holes in 2+1 dimensions. The black hole considered here is a solution to the low-energy string theory in 2+1 dimensions. It is asymptotic to the anti-de Sitter space. The exact values of quasinormal modes for the scalar perturbations are calculated. For both the charged and uncharged cases, the quasinormal frequencies are pure-imaginary leading to purely damped modes for the perturbations.

Born-Infeld-de Sitter gravity: Cold, ultracold and Nariai black holes

In this paper, we have presented interesting properties of the static charged Born-Infeld-de Sitter black hole. They can have time-like as well as space-like singularities depending on the parameters of the theory. The degenerate black holes lead to cold, ultra cold and Nariai black holes. The geometry of such black holes are discussed. A comparison is done with the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black holes.

Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence: Null geodesics

We have studied the null geodesics of the Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence matter. Quintessence matter is a candidate for dark energy. Here, we have done a detailed analysis of the geodesics and exact solutions are presented in terms of Jacobi-elliptic integrals for all possible energy and angular momentum of the photons. The circular orbits of the photons are studied in detail. As an application of the null geodesics, the angle of deflection of the photons are computed.

Quasinormal Modes of Bardeen Black Hole: Scalar Perturbations

The purpose of this paper is to study quasinormal modes (QNM) of the Bardeen black hole due to scalar perturbations. We have done a thorough analysis of the QNM frequencies by varying the charge $q$, mass $M$ and the spherical harmonic index $l$. The unstable null geodesics are used to compute the QNM's in the eikonal limit. Furthermore, massive scalar field modes are also studied by varying the mass of the field. Comparisons are done with the QNM frequencies of the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole.

Cold, ultracold and Nariai black holes with quintessence

In this paper, we study the properties of the charged black hole surrounded by the quintessence. The solution space for the horizons for various values of the mass $M$, charge $Q$, and the quintessence parameter $α$ are studied in detail. Special focus in given to the degenerate horizons: we obtain cold, ultracold and Nariai black holes which has similar topologies as for the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black holes. We also study the lukewarm black hole with the quintessence in this paper.

New Charged Dilaton Solutions in 2+1 Dimensions and Solutions with Cylindrical Symmetry in 3+1 Dimensions

We report a new family of solutions to Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity in 2+1 dimensions and Einstein-Maxwell gravity with cylindrical symmetry in 3+1 dimensions. A set of static charged solutions in 2+1 dimensions are obtained by a compactification of charged solutions in 3+1 dimensions with cylindrical symmetry. These solutions contain naked singularities for certain values of the parameters considered. New rotating charged solutions in 2+1 dimensions and 3+1 dimensions are generated treating the static charged solutions as seed metrics and performing $SL(2;R)$ transformations.

Null Geodesics of Charged Black Holes in String Theory

In this paper, we investigate the null geodesics of the static charged black hole in heterotic string theory. A detailed analysis of the geodesics are done in the Einstein frame as well as in the string frame. In the Einstein frame, the geodesics are solved exactly in terms of the Jacobi-elliptic integrals for all possible energy levels and angular momentum of the photons. In the string frame, the geodesics are presented for the circular orbits. As a physical application of the null geodesics, we have obtained the angle of deflection for the photons and the quasinormal modes of a massless scalar field in the eikonal limit.

Decay of massless Dirac field around the Born-Infeld Black Hole

In this paper we investigate the perturbations by a massless Dirac spinor of a Born-Infeld black hole. The decay rates of the spinor field which is given by the quasinormal mode frequencies are computed using the sixth order WKB approximation. The behavior of the quasi normal modes with the non-linear parameter, temperature and charge of the black hole are analyzed in detail. We also compare the decay rates of the Born-Infeld black hole with its linear counter-part Reissner-Nordstrom black hole.

Spinning Dilaton Black Holes in 2 +1 Dimensions: Quasi-normal Modes and the Area Spectrum

We have studied the perturbation of a spinning dilaton black hole in 2 +1 dimensions by a massless scalar field. The wave equations of a massless scalar field is shown to be exactly solvable in terms of hypergeometric functions. The quasinormal frequencies are computed for slowly spinning black holes. The stability of the black hole is discussed. The asymptotic form of the quasinormal frequencies are evaluated. The area spectrum of the quantum black holes are evaluated by using the asymptotic quasi-normal frequencies and is shown to be equally-spaced.

Quasinormal Modes of Charged Scalars around Dilaton Black Holes in 2+1 Dimensions: Exact Frequencies

We have studied the charged scalar perturbation around a dilaton black hole in 2 +1 dimensions. The wave equations of a massless charged scalar field is shown to be exactly solvable in terms of hypergeometric functions. The quasinormal frequencies are computed exactly. The relation between the quasinormal frequencies and the charge of the black hole, charge of the scalar and the temperature of the black hole are analyzed. The asymptotic form of the real part of the quasinormal frequencies are evaluated exactly.
