The I^G J^{PC}=1^- 1^{-+} Tetraquark States

We study the tetraquark states with I^G J^{PC}=1^- 1^{-+} in the QCD sum rule. After exhausting all possible flavor structures, we analyses both the SVZ and finite energy sum rules. Both approaches lead to a mass around 1.6 GeV for the state with the quark contents q q q_bar q_bar, and around 2.0 GeV for the state with the quark contents q s q_bar s_bar. The flavor structure 3_bar * 6_bar + 6 * 3 is preferred. Our analysis strongly indicates that both pi1(1600) and pi1(2015) are also compatible with the exotic tetraquark interpretation, which are sometimes labeled as candidates of the 1^{-+} hybrid mesons. Moreover one of their dominant decay modes is a pair of axial-vector and pseudoscalar mesons such as b1(1235) pi, which is sometimes considered as the characteristic decay mode of the hybrid mesons.

$Z^+(4430)$ as a $D_1'{D}^* $ ($D_1{D}^* $) molecular state

We reexamine whether $Z^+(4430)$ could be a $D_1'-{D}^*$ or $D_1-{D}^*$ molecular state after considering both the pion and $σ$ meson exchange potentials and introducing the form factor to take into account the structure effect of the interaction vertex. Our numerical analysis with Matlab package MATSLISE indicates the contribution from the sigma meson exchange is small for the $D_1'-{D}^*$ system and significant for the $D_1-{D}^*$ system. The S-wave $D_1-\bar{D}^*$ molecular state with only $J^{P}=0^-$ and $D_1'-{D}^*$ molecular states with $J^P=0^-,1^-,2^-$ may exist with reasonable parameters. One should investigate whether the broad width of $D_1'$ disfavors the possible formation of molecular states in the future. The bottom analog $Z_B$ of $Z^+(4430)$ has a larger binding energy, which may be searched at Tevatron and LHC. Experimental measurement of the quantum number of $Z^+(4430)$ may help uncover its underlying structure.

The Y(2175) State in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the mass of the state Y(2175) of J^{PC} = 1^{--} in the QCD sum rule. We construct both the diquark-antidiquark currents (ss)(s_bar s_bar) and the meson-meson currents (s_bar s)(s_bar s). We find that there are two independent currents for both cases, and derive the relations between them. The OPE convergence of these two currents is sufficiently fast, which enables us to perform good sum rule analysis. Both the SVZ sum rule and the finite energy sum rule lead to a mass around 2.3+-0.4 GeV, which is consistent with the observed mass within the uncertainties of the present QCD sum rule. The coupling of the four-quark currents to lower lying states such as ϕ(1020) turns out to be rather small. We also discuss possible decay properties of Y(2175) if it is a tetraquark state.

Chiral Properties of Baryon Fields with Flavor SU(3) Symmetry

We investigate chiral properties of local (non-derivative) fields of baryons consisting of three quarks with flavor SU(3) symmetry. We construct explicitly independent local three-quark fields belonging to definite Lorentz and flavor representations. Chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken and therefore the baryon fields can have different chiral representations. It turns out that the allowed chiral representations are strongly correlated with the Lorentz group representations due to the color and spatial structure of the local three-quark fields. We discuss some implications of the allowed chiral symmetry representations on phenomenological Lagrangians with chiral U(3)_L \otimes U(3)_R symmetry.

Is X(3872) {\sl Really} a Molecular State?

After taking into account both the pion and sigma meson exchange potential, we have performed a dynamical calculation of the $D^0\bar{D}^{\ast0}$ system. The $σ$ meson exchange potential is repulsive from heavy quark symmetry and numerically important for a loosely bound system. Our analysis disfavors the interpretation of X(3872) as a loosely bound molecular state if we use the experimental $D^\ast Dπ$ coupling constant $g=0.59$ and a reasonable cutoff around 1 GeV, which is the typical hadronic scale. Bound state solutions with negative eigenvalues for the $D\bar{D}^\ast$ system exist only with either a very large coupling constant (two times of the experimental value) or a large cutoff ($Λ\sim 6$ GeV or $β\sim 6$ GeV$^2$). In contrast, there probably exists a loosely bound S-wave $B\bar{B}^\ast$ molecular state. Once produced, such a molecular state would be rather stable since its dominant decay mode is the radiative decay through $B^\ast\to B γ$. Experimental search of these states will be very interesting.

The two-body open charm decays of $Z^+(4430)$

The two-body open charm decays $Z^+(4430)\to D^{+}\bar{D}^{*0}, D^{*+}\bar{D}^{0}, D^{*+}\bar{D}^{*0}$ occur through the re-scattering mechanism and their branching ratios are strongly suppressed if $Z^+(4430)$ is a $D_1\bar D^*$ molecular state. In contrast, $Z^+(4430)$ falls apart into these modes easily with large phase space and they become the main decay modes if $Z^+(4430)$ is a tetraquark state. Experimental search of these two-body open charm modes and the hidden charm mode $χ_{cJ}ρ$ will help distinguish different theoretical schemes.

Contribution of $DK$ Continuum in the QCD Sum Rule for $D_{sJ}(2317)$

Using the soft-pion theorem and the assumption on the final-state interactions, we include the contribution of $DK$ continuum into the QCD sum rules for $D_{sJ}(2317)$ meson. We find that this contribution can significantly lower the mass and the decay constant of $D_s(0^+)$ state. For the value of the current quark mass $m_c(m_c)=1.286 {\rm GeV}$, we obtain the mass of $D_s(0^+)$ $M=2.33 \pm 0.02 {\rm GeV}$ in the interval $s_0=7.5-8.0 {\rm GeV}^2$, being in agreement with the experimental data, and the vector current decay constant of $D_s(0^+)$ $f_0=0.128 \pm 0.013 {\rm GeV}$, much lower than those obtained in previous literature.

Is Z^+(4430) a loosely bound molecular state?

Since $Z^+(4430)$ lies very close to the threshold of $D^\ast{\bar D}_1$, we investigate whether $Z^+(4430)$ could be a loosely bound S-wave state of $D^\ast{\bar D}_1$ or $D^\ast{\bar D}^\prime_1$ with $J^P=0^-, 1^-, 2^-$, i.e., a molecular state arising from the one-pion-exchange potential. The potential from the crossed diagram is much larger than that from the diagonal scattering diagram. With various trial wave functions, we notice that the attraction from the one pion exchange potential alone is not strong enough to form a bound state with realistic pionic coupling constants deduced from the decay widths of $D_1$ and $D^\prime_1$.

Light Scalar Tetraquark Mesons in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the lowest-lying scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule by considering them as tetraquark states. We find that there are five independent currents for each state with a certain flavor structure. By forming linear combinations, we find that some mixed currents give reliable QCD sum rules. Among various tetraquark currents, we consider those which are constructed by the diquarks having anti-symmetric and symmetric flavor structures. That the results of the QCD sum rule derived from the two types of currents are similar suggests that the tetraquark states can have a large mixing between different flavor structures.

Bottom Baryons

Recently CDF and D0 collaborations observed several bottom baryons. In this work we perform a systematic study of the masses of bottom baryons up to $1/m_Q$ in the framework of heavy quark effective field theory (HQET) using the QCD sum rule approach. The extracted chromo-magnetic splitting between the bottom baryon heavy doublet agrees well with the experimental data.

Light Scalar Mesons in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the light scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule. We find that there are five independent scalar tetraquark currents in the local form, and we perform QCD sum rule analysis using both these currents and their combinations. Compared with the sum rules by conventional \bar{q} q currents, our result supports a tetraquark structure for low-lying scalar mesons.

Decuplet contribution to the meson-baryon scattering lengths

We calculate decuplet contributions to the s-wave pseudoscalar meson octet-baryon scattering lengths to the third order in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HB$χ$PT). Using experimental pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering lengths as inputs, we determine low-energy constants and predict other meson-baryon scattering lengths. Numerically we consider three cases: (1) the case with only baryon octet contributions; (2) with decuplet contributions and (3) in the large N_c limit. Hopefully, the analytical expressions and the predictions are helpful to future investigations of the meson-baryon scattering lengths.

The dispersive contribution of $ρ(1450,1700)$ decays and X(1576)

We study whether the broad enhancement X(1576) arises from the final state interaction (FSI) of $ρ(1450,1700)\to ρ^+ρ^-\to K^{+}K^{-}$ decays. We consider both the absorptive and dispersive contribution of the above amplitudes since the intermediate states are very close to $ρ(1450,1700)$. The same mechanism leads to a similar enhancement around 1580 MeV in the $π^{+}π^-$ spectrum in the $J/ψ\to π^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ channel, which can be used to test whether X(1576) can be ascribed to the FSI effect of $ρ(1450,1700)\to ρ^+ρ^-$.

QCD Sum Rule Study of the Masses of Light Tetraquark Scalar Mesons

We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of sigma, kappa, f_0 and a_0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6 -- 1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional \bar{q} q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.

Strong decays of charmed baryons

There has been important experimental progress in the sector of heavy baryons in the past several years. We study the strong decays of the S-wave, P-wave, D-wave and radially excited charmed baryons using the $^3P_0$ model. After comparing the calculated decay pattern and total width with the available data, we discuss the possible internal structure and quantum numbers of those charmed baryons observed recently.

New Hadron States

The past four years has witnessed the renaissance of the hadron spectroscopy. Many interesting new hadron states were discovered experimentally, some of which do not fit into the quark model easily. I will give a concise overview of these states and their possible interpretations. Topics covered in this review are: (1) candidates of new light hadrons including $p {\bar p}$ threshold enhancement, X(1835), X(1576), $f_0(1810)$, recent candidates of the $1^{-+}$ exotic mesons, Y(2175), $p\barΛ$ threshold enhancement etc; (2) charmed mesons including p-wave non-strange charmed mesons, $D_{sj}(2317)$ and $D_{sj}(2460)$, recent candidates of higher excited charmed mesons, $D_{sj}(2632)$ etc; (3) charmonium and charmonium-like states such as X(3872), Y(4260), X(3940), Y(3940), Z(3930) etc. The effect from the nearby S-wave open channels on the quark model spectrum above or near strong decay threshold is emphasized. Dynamical lattice simulations of $D K$ and $D^0\bar D^{\ast 0}$ scattering and the extraction of their phase shifts may help resolve the underlying structure of $D_{sj}(2317)$, $D_{sj}(2460)$ and X(3872).

X(1576) and the Final State Interaction Effect

We study whether the broad peak X(1576) observed by BES Collaboration arises from the final state interaction effect of $ρ(1450,1700)$ decays. The interference effect could produce an enhancement around 1540 MeV in the $K^+K^-$ spectrum with typical interference phases. However, the branching ratio $B[J/ψ\to π^{0}ρ(1450,1700)]\cdot B[ρ(1450,1700)\to K^{+}K^{-}]$ from the final state interaction effect is far less than the experimental data.
