We survey on the recent progress toward mirror symmetry between Landau-Ginzburg models.
In this paper, we prove the mirror symmetry conjecture between the Saito-Givental theory of exceptional unimodular singularities on Landau-Ginzburg B-side and the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of their mirror partners on Landau-Ginzburg A-side. On the B-side, we compute the genus-zero generating function from a perturbative formula of primitive forms introduced by the first three authors recently. This computation matches the orbifold-Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch and WDVV calculations in FJRW theory on the A-side. The coincidence of the full data at all genera is established by reconstruction techniques. Our result establishes the first examples of LG-LG mirror symmetry of all genera for weighted homogeneous polynomials of central charge greater than one (i.e. which contain negative degree deformation parameters).
We provide a rigorous perturbative quantization of the B-twisted topological sigma model via a first order quantum field theory on derived mapping space in the formal neighborhood of constant maps. We prove that the first Chern class of the target manifold is the obstruction to the quantization via Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. When the first Chern class vanishes, i.e. on Calabi-Yau manifolds, the factorization algebra of observables gives rise to the expected topological correlation functions in the B-model. We explain a twisting procedure to generalize to the Landau-Ginzburg case, and show that the resulting topological correlations coincide with Vafa's residue formula.
We develop a complex differential geometric approach to the theory of higher residues and primitive forms from the viewpoint of Kodaira-Spencer gauge theory, unifying the semi-infinite period maps for Calabi-Yau models and Landau-Ginzburg models. We give an explicit perturbative construction of primitive forms with respect to opposite filtrations and primitive elements. This leads to a concrete algorithm to compute the Taylor expansions of primitive forms as well as the description of their moduli space for all weighted homogenous cases. As an example, we present unknown perturbative expressions for the primitive form of E_12 singularity and illustrate its application to Landau-Ginzburg mirror symmetry with FJRW-theory.
Complete controllability of degenerate quantum system using quantum accessor modeled as a qubit chain with nearest neighborhood coupling is investigated. Sufficient conditions on the length of accessor and the way of coupling between controlled system and accessor are obtained. General approach to arbitrary finite system is presented and two and three level degenerate systems are investigated in detail.
We explain the homological relation between the Frobenius structure on the deformation space of Calabi-Yau manifold and the gauge theory of Kodaira-Spencer gravity. We show that the genus zero generating function of descendant invariants on Calabi-Yau manifolds from Barannikov's semi-infinite variation of Hodge structures is equivalent to the Kodaira-Spencer gauge theory at tree level.
This is a brief summary of our works [arXiv:1112.4063, arXiv:1201.4501] on constructing higher genus B-model from perturbative quantization of BCOV theory. We analyze Givental's symplectic loop space formalism in the context of B-model geometry on Calabi-Yau manifolds, and explain the Fock space construction via the renormalization techniques of gauge theory. We also give a physics interpretation of the Virasoro constraints as the symmetry of the classical BCOV action functional, and discuss the Virasoro constraints in the quantum theory.
The concept of group velocity of a particle should be consistent with its Hamilton-Jacobi velocity. This point is missed in the work of Cohen, Glashow, "{\it Pair Creation Constrains Superluminal Neutrino Propagation}" (Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 107}, 181803 (2011)). It then leads to the conclusion of existence of Cherenkov-like radiation provided one sees superluminal neutrinos. We show that in the framework of Special Relativity with de Sitter space-time symmetry (dS-SR) the above Cohen-Glashow argument does not hold and the Cherenkov-like radiation is forbidden. Our result is consistent with the experimental results of the ICARUS Collaboration.
Genome-wide protein-protein interaction (PPI) data are readily available thanks to recent breakthroughs in biotechnology. However, PPI networks of extant organisms are only snapshots of the network evolution. How to infer the whole evolution history becomes a challenging problem in computational biology. In this paper, we present a likelihood-based approach to inferring network evolution history from the topology of PPI networks and the duplication relationship among the paralogs. Simulations show that our approach outperforms the existing ones in terms of the accuracy of reconstruction. Moreover, the growth parameters of several real PPI networks estimated by our method are more consistent with the ones predicted in literature.
Bershadsky-Cecotti-Ooguri-Vafa (BCOV) proposed that the B-model of mirror symmetry should be described by a quantum field theory on a Calabi-Yau variety, which they called the Kodaira-Spenser theory (we call it the BCOV theory). This is the first of three papers in which we construct and analyze the quantum BCOV theory. In this paper, we construct the classical field theory on a Calabi-Yau variety of arbitrary dimension; define what it means to give a quantization; analyze the relation Givental's symplectic formalism for Gromov-Witten theory; prove uniqueness of the quantization on an elliptic curve; and prove the Virasoro constraints on an elliptic curve. The second paper (arXiv:1112.4063) proves that the partition function of the quantum BCOV theory on the elliptic curve is equivalent to the Gromov-Witten theory of the mirror elliptic curve. The third paper, in progress, constructs the quantum BCOV theory on a general Calabi-Yau.
We introduce a type of graph integrals on elliptic curves from the heat kernel. We show that such graph integrals have modular properties under the modular group $SL(2, \Z)$, and prove the polynomial nature of the anti-holomorphic dependence.
We develop the quantum Kodaira-Spencer theory on the elliptic curve and establish the corresponding higher genus B-model. We show that the partition functions of the higher genus B-model on the elliptic curve are almost holomorphic modular forms, which can be identified with partition functions of descendant Gromov-Witten invariants on the mirror elliptic curve. This gives the first compact Calabi-Yau example where mirror symmetry is established at all genera.
We study the variation of relative cohomology for a pair consisting of a smooth projective hypersurface and an algebraic subvariety in it. We construct an inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equation by applying a Picard-Fuchs operator to the holomorphic top form on a toric Calabi-Yau hypersurface, and deriving a general formula for the $d$-exact form on one side of the equation. We also derive a double residue formula, giving a purely algebraic way to compute the inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equations for Abel-Jacobi map, which has played an important role in recent study of D-branes [25]. Using the variation formalism, we prove that the relative periods of toric B-branes on a toric Calabi-Yau hypersurface satisfy the enhanced GKZ-hypergeometric system proposed in physics literature [6], and discuss the relations between the works [25] [21] [6] in recent study of open string mirror symmetry. We also give the general solutions to the enhanced hypergeometric system.
This is a continuation of our study of the foundations of D-branes from the viewpoint of Grothendieck in the region of the related Wilson's theory-space where "branes" are still branes. In this work, we focus on D-strings and construct the moduli stack of morphisms from Azumaya prestable curves $C^{Az}$ with a fundamental module ${\cal E}$ to a fixed target $Y$ of a given combinatorial type. Such a morphism gives a prototype for a Wick-rotated D-string of B-type on $Y$, following the Polchinski-Grothendieck Ansatz, and this stack serves as a ground toward a mathematical theory of topological D-string world-sheet instantons.
Huybrechts and Thomas recently constructed relative obstruction theory of objects of the derived category of coherent sheaves over smooth projective family. In this paper, we use this construction to obtain the absolute deformation-obstruction theory of the pair (X, E), with X smooth projective scheme and E perfect complex, and show that the obstruction theories for E, (X,E), and X fit into exact triangle as derived objects on the moduli space.
We consider unitary graphs attached to Z_d^n using an analogue of the Euclidean distance. These graphs are shown to be integral when n is odd or the dimension d is even.
Lagrangian of the Einstein's special relativity with universal parameter $c$ ($\mathcal{SR}_c$) is invariant under Poincaré transformation which preserves Lorentz metric $η_{μν}$. The $\mathcal{SR}_c$ has been extended to be one which is invariant under de Sitter transformation that preserves so called Beltrami metric $B_{μν}$. There are two universal parameters $c$ and $R$ in this Special Relativity (denote it as $\mathcal{SR}_{cR}$). The Lagrangian-Hamiltonian formulism of $\mathcal{SR}_{cR}$ is formulated in this paper. The canonic energy, canonic momenta, and 10 Noether charges corresponding to the space-time's de Sitter symmetry are derived. The canonical quantization of the mechanics for $\mathcal{SR}_{cR}$-free particle is performed. The physics related to it is discussed.
We review the explicit derivation of the Gauss-Bonet and Hirzebruch formulae by physical model and give a physical proof of the Lefschetz fixed-point formula by twisting boundary conditions for the path integral.
