Symmetry-initialized quantum Gibbs sampling: a non-Abelian asymmetry cascade

For a quantum Gibbs sampler whose mixing bottleneck is a weakly broken symmetry, I show that the correct initialization is determined by representation theory. I first prove a general speedup-versus-prefactor dichotomy: by exactly eliminating slow-mode overlap, I convert a nominal prefactor reduction into a fundamental, asymptotic acceleration of the system's mixing time. I then show that when the bottleneck is a weakly broken symmetry, the otherwise exponentially expensive bottleneck eigenvector is the symmetry charge. For a non-Abelian group $G$, I prove that the correct initialization target is the group-averaging asymmetry. Projecting this asymmetry out requires a $G$-invariant input. Partial, subgroup-invariant inputs produce a cascade of mixing-time speedups indexed by the subgroup lattice. Conversely, matching first moments alone is provably insufficient. The asymmetry is a directly measurable initialization target. I verify these results analytically and numerically in an $SU(2)$ Davies sampler where total-spin multiplets constitute the slow modes. The predicted speedup cascade emerges with relaxation rates scaling linearly with the symmetry-breaking parameter. Finally, the model maps the boundaries of the asymmetry target, illustrating where the separate matching of conserved logical data becomes necessary.

The Infraparticle Edge

I derive the charged-particle spectral edge from the quantum instrument of soft QED. I use two projections of that instrument. Tracing over unresolved photons gives the reduced hard-sector channel. Pushing the outcomes to total energy gives the inclusive energy distribution. Its Laplace exponent is fixed by the diagonal soft intensity. For ${\rm d} N_h(ω)=η_h{\rm d}ω/ω+{\rm d} N_{h,\mathrm{reg}}(ω)$, I obtain $ρ_{\mathrm{inc}}(s)\sim Cθ(s-m^2)(s-m^2)^{-1+η_h}$. I retain the coherence kernel and derive hard-sector dephasing and the spectral edge from two contractions of one soft environment. The diagonal coefficient $κ_{aa}$ fixes the endpoint exponent, while $\frac12(κ_{aa}+κ_{bb}-2\operatorname{Re}κ_{ba})$ fixes the dephasing exponent between hard alternatives. I then classify infrared energy marginals, derive the finite-resolution residue $Z(μ)=(μ/Λ)^{η_h}$, prove stability under infrared-integrable perturbations, and separate the bath exponent from a hard threshold exponent. For the one-electron spectral measure, the hard threshold factor is regular. The resulting edge has the local power law of a gapped unparticle spectrum, while its exponent remains a response coefficient of the unresolved photon sector.

$p$-Form Gauge Dynamics and Digital Quantum Simulation -- Flux and Cosmological Constant Neutralization

I develop a Hamiltonian framework for ${\mathbb Z}_k$ $p$-form gauge fields on arbitrary oriented cell complexes in arbitrary dimensions. Gauge qudits are defined by $p$-cells, charged boundary qudits by $(p-1)$-cells, Gauss-law generators by boundary map $\partial_p$, and magnetic checks by $\partial_{p+1}$. The same cellular structure produces local dressed Wilson operators, and at $k=2$ a Calderbank-Shor-Steane check complex relevant to quantum error correction. I then specialize to $p=2, k=2$, where the magnetic 3-cell term is absent and the one-form Gauss-law can be solved exactly. The physical Hilbert space is parameterized by plaquette electric-flux variables, while the link configuration is reconstructed as the dynamical boundary of the evolving flux domains. The reduced Hamiltonian is an Ising-type plaquette model, where its local transverse-field term is the physical image of the boundary-dressed Wilson operator $σ_p^z\prod_{\ell\in\partial p}τ_\ell^z$. A tube-cap quench compares two initial flux fillings with the same initial boundary loops. Exact diagonalization on $4\times4$, $6\times4$, and $5\times5$ tori finds that the cap loses $20$-$37\%$ of its occupied-flux area, while the tube remains nearly pinned. A finite-size scaling locates a dynamical crossover of tension-to-density ratio near $(m/\varepsilon_E)_c\simeq1.89$. The unreduced plaquette-plus-link encoding provides local Gauss-law checks and a direct digital implementation, while the reduced plaquette-only Hamiltonian supplies the exact benchmark. The result places the specific top-form discharge and the cosmological constant neutralization calculation inside a general higher-form Hamiltonian and coding framework.

Horizon-Restricted Leading Soft QED as Open Quantum System

I formulate black-hole-horizon-induced decoherence of charged branch codes as the leading-soft QED restricted to an exterior algebra, formulated as an open quantum system. The fixed-history Feynman--Vernon identity ${\cal F}[J,J]=1$ remains exact. Decoherence enters through the unequal-history influence factor that survives exterior monitoring and belongs to the complementary horizon output. In the coherent eikonal regime, I derive the completely positive Schur channel $({\cal E}_H^{(0)}ρ)_{ab}=\langleΦ_b^{H,(0)}|Φ_a^{H,(0)}\rangle \, ρ_{ab}$. The leading soft input is the eikonal factor, projected onto the horizon radiative algebra. The channel yields Gram-positivity constraints, an exterior quantum-eraser bound, finite-time non-Markovianity tests, soft/hard scaling criteria, and a charged-qutrit interferometer measuring a leading-soft Bargmann holonomy. The holonomy phase is the rephasing-invariant symplectic area of a triangle in horizon soft phase space. I show that its orientation, common-mode, triangulation, and completely positive determinant identities render falsifiable tests beyond pairwise two-path visibility.

The Chiral Random-Matrix Ensemble of the Type-IIB Axion--Dilaton Wormhole Partition Function

I construct a microscopic ADHM/chiral-Wishart representative of the reduced charge-sector coefficient $W_ν[b]$ that enters the Type-IIB axion--dilaton wormhole partition function $Z_{\rm wh}(θ;b)$. I fix the axion-charge sector, equivalently the form-field-flux sector, which plays the exact same structural role as a fixed-topology sector in QCD: it supplies the domain where I compute the microscopic coefficient before forming the final theta sum. At $E=0$, the axion--dilaton radial family reaches its BPS instanton endpoint. After I impose the Hamiltonian constraint, gauge quotient, charge-sector boundary condition, and collective zero-mode quotient, the physical quadratic fluctuation operator at that endpoint becomes a positive adjoint square. Its non-zero spectrum is therefore a squared singular-value spectrum, and its microscopic endpoint is a Laguerre/chiral hard edge. The D(-1)/D3 super-ADHM collective-coordinate integral supplies the Type-IIB microscopic representative of this same coefficient. In the large$N$ result of Dorey et al., this super-ADHM measure becomes the $k$-D-instanton measure on $AdS_5\times S^5$, multiplied by a centered zero-dimensional supersymmetric matrix-model factor. The chiral/Wishart ensemble forms the hard-edge limit of the rectangular block inside this super-ADHM integral. Fermionic ADHM variables and supergravity fermions remain part of the coefficient: in protected sectors they cancel paired non-zero modes, impose zero-mode saturation, and determine which reduction data \(b\) give a non-vanishing $W_ν[b]$.

Charge-Sector Construction of the Type-IIB Axion--Dilaton Wormhole Partition Function

I construct the Type-IIB axion--dilaton wormhole partition function from charge-sector data. In a chosen axion charge, equivalently form-field flux sector, the long-distance saddle calculation supplies a two-end operator term with coefficient matrix \(C^{ij}_ν\). The labels \(i,j\) label end-insertion operators; the labels \(A,B\) label parent universes. Reduction data \(b\) convert this matrix into scalar coefficients \(W_ν[b]\). The wormhole partition function in the theta variable is \(Z_{\rm wh}(θ;b)=\sum_νW_ν[b]\e^{iνθ}\). I analyze properties and constraints this coefficients satisfy: discrete-symmetry covariance, phase, absolute bounds, moment positivity, Cauchy--Schwarz inequalities for the unreduced coefficient matrix, complex-\(θ\) domains, charge-lattice tails, and the dilute Bessel/Skellam limit. The \(θ\)-dependence of the wormhole partition function is the Fourier transform of the charge-sector scalar coefficients.

Type IIB Axion--Dilaton Wormholes and the BPS Limit Hessian

I revisit Type-IIB axion--dilaton Euclidean saddles in a specified axion charge sector. In that sector, the solution with $E=0$ is the BPS instanton, while $E>0$ gives non-BPS wormholes with a smooth throat. The two cases solve the same radial equations but define different fluctuation problems. For the $E=0$ instanton, the Hamiltonian constraint, gauge quotient, charge-sector boundary condition, and removal of collective zero modes reduce the quadratic action to a physical Hessian. This Hessian factorizes, $ {\cal H}_ν={\mathcal Q}_ν^\dagger{\mathcal Q}_ν$. I interpret this as an endpoint theorem, beyond a stability theorem for the full $E>0$ wormhole. This puts Type IIB wormhole spectra on firmer grounds. I also separate the connected two-ended wormhole throat from its long-distance two-end multipole operator term. Once the coefficient matrix $C^{ij}$ is derived, the different-component and same-component placements of the two end insertions are terms in the same quadratic expression. Removing either term requires a genuine projection or cancellation.

Infrared Safety from ZX-Diagrams: A Categorical Proof of Soft-QED as Open Quantum System

The discard ZX-calculus, a diagrammatic language for mixed-state quantum mechanics, is used to give a nonperturbative, categorical proof of the Bloch-Nordsieck cancellation of infrared divergences in QED. Soft photons are treated as an open quantum system: the resolved charged particles and hard photons form the system, while photons below a detector resolution form the environment. The reduced hard channel is a completely positive trace-preserving (CPTP) map, and the soft-photon theorem replaces the full S-matrix by a controlled displacement operator whose Feynman-Vernon influence functional satisfies the equal-history normalization ${\cal F}[J,J]=1 $. In the ZX-calculus, this normalization is a single diagrammatic identity: the doubled displacement diagram collapses to the bare wire under the unitarity, cyclicity, and discard rules. The proof therefore serves as a categorical consistency check on the open-system treatment of soft QED given in a companion paper; it confirms that the physical derivation is logically complete and free of hidden assumptions about the infrared limit. For off-diagonal hard-state elements, the same diagram yields the coherent-state overlap, giving a first-principles account of soft-cloud decoherence. The soft-shell coarse graining is then constructed as a CPTP Schur channel whose infinitesimal limit produces the exact Lindblad generator with jump operators determined by the eikonal emission amplitudes. Finally, a local CPTP-certification pipeline is developed for non-Markovian process tensors, enabling constant-time verification of trace preservation in open quantum simulations. The framework bridges categorical quantum semantics, non-equilibrium field theory, and practical open-system compilation.

Soft QED as Open Quantum System: Infrared Cancellation and Soft-Shell Coarse Graining

I formulate unresolved soft-photon sector of QED as open quantum system. Resolved charged particles and hard photons form the system, unresolved soft photons form the environment, and basic object is the reduced density matrix. A resolved outcome $f$ of multiple hard particles and photons has probability $P_{f}(i) =\sum_n|\langle f,n|S|i,0\rangle|^2=\langle i|F_f|i\rangle$, with Kraus operators $K_n= {}_{\rm soft} \langle n|S|0 \rangle_{\rm soft}$ and effect $F_f=\sum_nK_n^\daggerΠ_fK_n$. The SK formulation places unresolved virtual and real terms in one doubled-contour expansion. At one loop they carry the same on-shell eikonal kernel with opposite signs. This elegantly organizes the QED probability: for the same observable, perturbative order, diagrams, and phase space, the OQS gives the same infrared-finite terms as the full-QED. The soft-photon evolution is a unitary coherent-state displacement driven by the scattering current. The equal-history identity of influence functional exactly normalizes this soft evolution; together with the soft-photon theorem it removes the IR divergent leading-soft factor from inclusive probability. I also derive explicit leading-soft QED realization of scale-parametrized Lindblad evolution on a fixed hard-branch space. Tracing an infinitesimal soft-photon shell produces diagonal jump operators whose entries are fixed by the corresponding eikonal emission amplitudes. The finite-shell map is a completely positive unital Schur channel and, in the sharp scale-invariant leading-soft regime, a dephasing semigroup of a completely-positive-divisible scale flow. The resulting logarithmic visibility slope and monotonic purity loss are off-diagonal predictions of the reduced-state description. The same controlled-displacement dilation gives the Sudakov probability, Poisson soft-photon multiplicities, and the bremsstrahlung number spectrum.

Correlated composite approach to fractional quantum Hall effect via edge current

The fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) is extensively studied, but the explanation for Hall plateau widths and excitation energy gaps remains elusive. We study the effective theory of FQHE built upon experimental inputs of Hall current distribution, edge dynamics, and many-body correlations. We argue that correlated composites of integer spin, comprising electrons and their images, localized at the edge of the incompressible strip are the basic transport entity. We show in the lowest Landau level that Zeeman interactions of these composites produce all odd denominator plateaus and effective fractional charges. Utilizing field-dependent chemical potential and effective g-factor, we fully explain the observed Hall resistivity curve and excitation energy gaps of the half-filling family. The plateau heights are systematically generated by multi-particle correlations, whereas the plateau widths and excitation energy gaps are determined by the correlation strengths. We explicitly show that the Drude-like behavior at half-filling follows from equal strength of multi-particle correlations.

Safe Gauge-String Correspondence

Safe theories are quantum field theories whose continuum limit is defined by a non-Gaussian ultraviolet fixed point when the ultraviolet cutoff is removed. They constitute an important set in the space of quantum field theories. Here we develop the `safe' gauge-string correspondence program according to which $d$-dimensional safe gauge theories, admitting the `t Hooft-Veneziano limit, are holographically dual to $(d+1)$-dimensional safe noncritical string theories on asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. We provide evidences for this correspondence on a class of safe templates that engage fermion and scalar matter fields into gauge, Yukawa and Higgs self-interactions. Safe theories can feature in the infrared both a weak coupling phase and a strong coupling phase on either side of the ultraviolet fixed point. They correspond respectively to dilaton and warp factors taking domain-wall or Liouville-wall profiles on asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. We argue that four-dimensional ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theories and all known interacting (super)conformal field theories are nonperturbative limit situations of safe gauge theories. The weak coupling phase provides a solvable holographic renormalization group flow while the strong coupling infrared phase provides a runaway-free alternative to holographic QCD.

Five-Dimensional Gauge Theories from Shifted Web Diagrams

In previous works (arXiv:1610.07916, arXiv:1711.07921, arXiv:1807.00186) we studied a class of toric Calabi-Yau threefolds which engineer six-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories with gauge group $U(N)$ and adjoint matter. The Kähler moduli space of these manifolds can be extended through flop transformations to include regions which are described by so-called shifted toric web diagrams. In this paper we analyse gauge theories that are engineered by these shifted toric web diagrams and argue that in specific limits, some of the them engineer five-dimensional quiver gauge theories with gauge group $G\subset U(N)$ and with fundamental and bi-fundamental matter. We discuss several examples in detail and describe how the matter sector is obtained from the six-dimensional parent theory.

Invariant Operators, Orthogonal Bases and Correlators in General Tensor Models

We study invariant operators in general tensor models. We show that representation theory provides an efficient framework to count and classify invariants in tensor models. In continuation and completion of our earlier work, we present two natural ways of counting invariants, one for arbitrary rank of the group and another valid for large rank. We construct basis of invariant operators based on the counting, and compute correlators of their elements. The basis associated with finite rank diagonalizes two-point function. It is analogous to the restricted Schur basis used in matrix models. We show that the constructions get almost identical as we swap the Littlewood-Richardson numbers in multi-matrix models with Kronecker coefficients in general tensor models. We explore this parallelism between matrix model and tensor model in depth from the perspective of representation theory and comment on several ideas for future investigation.

Beyond Triality: Dual Quiver Gauge Theories and Little String Theories

The web of dual gauge theories engineered from a class of toric Calabi-Yau threefolds is explored. In previous work, we have argued for a triality structure by compiling evidence for the fact that every such manifold $X_{N,M}$ (for given $(N,M)$) engineers three a priori different, weakly coupled quiver gauge theories in five dimensions. The strong coupling regime of the latter is in general described by Little String Theories. Furthermore, we also conjectured that the manifold $X_{N,M}$ is dual to $X_{N',M'}$ if $NM=N'M'$ and $\text{gcd}(N,M)=\text{gcd}(N',M')$. Combining this result with the triality structure, we currently argue for a large number of dual quiver gauge theories, whose instanton partition functions can be computed explicitly as specific expansions of the topological partition function $\mathcal{Z}_{N,M}$ of $X_{N,M}$. We illustrate this web of dual theories by studying explicit examples in detail. We also undertake first steps in further analysing the extended moduli space of $X_{N,M}$ with the goal of finding other dual gauge theories.

Asymptotic Symmetries of Colored Gravity in Three Dimensions

Three-dimensional colored gravity refers to nonabelian isospin extension of Einstein gravity. We investigate the asymptotic symmetry algebra of the $SU(N)$-colored gravity in (2+1)-dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime. Formulated by the Chern-Simons theory with $SU(N,N)\times SU(N,N)$ gauge group, the theory contains graviton, $SU(N)$ Chern-Simons gauge fields and massless spin-two multiplets in the $SU(N)$ adjoint representation, thus extending diffeomorphism to colored, nonabelian counterpart. We identify the asymptotic symmetry as Poisson algebra of generators associated with the residual global symmetries of the nonabelian diffeomorphism set by appropriately chosen boundary conditions. The resulting asymptotic symmetry algebra is a nonlinear extension of Virasoro algeba and $\widehat{\mathfrak{su}(N)}$ Kac-Moody algebra, supplemented by additional generators corresponding to the massless spin-two adjoint matter fields.

A String Theory Which Isn't About Strings

Quantization of closed string proceeds with a suitable choice of worldsheet vacuum. A priori, the vacuum may be chosen independently for left-moving and right-moving sectors. We construct {\sl ab initio} quantized bosonic string theory with left-right asymmetric worldsheet vacuum and explore its consequences and implications. We critically examine the validity of new vacuum and carry out first-quantization using standard operator formalism. Remarkably, the string spectrum consists only of a finite number of degrees of freedom: string gravity (massless spin-two, Kalb-Ramond and dilaton fields) and two massive spin-two Fierz-Pauli fields. The massive spin-two fields have negative norm, opposite mass-squared, and provides a Lee-Wick type extension of string gravity. We compute two physical observables: tree-level scattering amplitudes and one-loop cosmological constant. Scattering amplitude of four dilatons is shown to be a rational function of kinematic invariants, and in $D=26$ factorizes into contributions of massless spin-two and a pair of massive spin-two fields. The string one loop partition function is shown to perfectly agree with one loop Feynman diagram of string gravity and two massive spin-two fields. In particular, it does not exhibit modular invariance. We critically compare our construction with recent studies and contrast differences.

Triality in Little String Theories

We study a class of eight-supercharge little string theories (LSTs) on the world-volume of $N$ M5-branes with transverse space $\mathbb{S}^{1}\times (\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_M)$. These M-brane configurations compactified on a circle are dual to $M$ D5-branes intersecting $N$ NS5-branes on $\mathbb{T}^2\times \mathbb{R}^{7,1}$ as well as to F-theory compactified on a toric Calabi-Yau threefold $X_{N,M}$. We argue that the Kähler cone of $X_{N,M}$ admits three regions associated with weakly coupled quiver gauge theories of gauge groups $[U(N)]^M, [U(M)]^N$ and $[U(\frac{NM}{k})]^k$ where $k=\mbox{gcd}(N,M)$. These provide low-energy descriptions of different LSTs. The duality between the first two gauge theories is well known and is a consequence of the S-duality between D5- and NS5-branes or the T-duality of the LSTs. The triality involving the third gauge theory is new and we demonstrate it using several examples. We also discuss implications of this triality for the W-algebras associated with the Alday-Gaiotto-Tachikawa dual theories.

Elliptic Genus, Anomaly Cancellation and Heterotic M-theory

We derive global consistency condition for strongly coupled heterotic string in the presence of M5-branes. Its elliptic genus is interpretable as generating functional of anomaly polynomials and so, on anomaly-free vacua, the genus is both holomorphic and modular invariant. In holomorphic basis, we identify the modular properties by calculating the phase. By interpreting the refinement parameters as background curvature of tangent and vector bundles, we identify the extended Bianchi identity for Kalb--Ramond field of heterotic M-theory in the presence of arbitrary numbers of M5-branes.
