Drell-Yan lepton pair production from low to high transverse momentum

We present a technique for computing Drell-Yan lepton pair production at particle-level that achieves N$^3$LO and approximate N$^4$LL$'$ accuracy at small to moderate transverse momentum, tree-level precision for $Z+4$, $5$, and $6$ jets, and approximate NLO EW precision at high transverse momentum. A crucial non-perturbative input, the Collins-Soper kernel, is obtained from continuum-limit lattice QCD results. High-precision theory results are recast into strictly positive event weights using an information-theoretic approach based on the maximum entropy principle.

A new approach to QCD final-state evolution in processes with massive partons

We present an algorithm for massive parton evolution which is based on the differentially accurate simulation of soft-gluon radiation by means of a non-trivial azimuthal angle dependence of the splitting functions. The kinematics mapping is chosen such as to to reflect the symmetry of the final state in soft-gluon radiation and collinear splitting processes. We compute the counterterms needed for a fully differential NLO matching and discuss the analytic structure of the parton shower in the NLL limit. We implement the new algorithm in the numerical code Alaric and present a first comparison to experimental data.

Double-real corrections to color singlet decay in a parton-shower inspired scheme

We introduce a local infrared subtraction method for next-to-next-to-leading order QCD calculations in color singlet decays, which is modeled on the evolution algorithm of a parton shower. Overlapping singularities in the multipole radiation pattern are disentangled by partial fractioning, and the kinematics mapping corresponds to iterated next-to-leading order kinematics. We verify that the double-real remainder to $e^+e^-\to\;q\bar{q}$ is rendered finite in the single and double unresolved limits and investigate the numerical convergence of the Monte-Carlo integral. We compute the phase-space integrals of the scalar counterterms in the back-to-back configuration, both analytically and with the help of numerical techniques based on sector decomposition.

HEPTAPOD: Orchestrating High Energy Physics Workflows Towards Autonomous Agency

Many theoretical and experimental workflows in high-energy-physics (HEP) stand to benefit from recent advances in transformer-based large language models (LLMs). While early applications of LLMs focused on text generation and code completion, modern LLMs now support orchestrated agency: the coordinated execution of complex, multi-step tasks through tool use, structured context, and iterative reasoning. We introduce the HEP Toolkit for Agentic Planning, Orchestration, and Deployment (HEPTAPOD), an orchestration framework designed to integrate external LLMs into general HEP workflows spanning theoretical calculations, simulation, and data analysis. The framework enables LLMs to interface with domain-specific tools and to construct and manage diverse HEP pipelines while preserving transparency, reproducibility, and human oversight. To demonstrate these capabilities, we present a representative case study in the context of a Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) Monte Carlo signal validation that spans model generation, event simulation, and analysis within an established, reproducible workflow. HEPTAPOD provides a structured and auditable layer between human researchers, LLMs, and computational infrastructure, establishing a foundation for human-in-the-loop, agent-assisted workflows across high-energy physics.

Resonance- and Width-aware Parton Shower Evolution and NLO Matching

We introduce a technique for the next-to-leading order accurate simulation of $e^+e^-\to W^+W^-b\bar{b}$ that respects the resonant nature of the process above and near the top-quark pair production threshold. The parton-shower evolution, infrared subtraction and NLO matching account in particular for finite width effects beyond the Breit-Wigner structure considered in resonance-aware approaches. We present first phenomenological results relevant to a potential future electron-positron collider and provide a publicly available simulator based on the ALARIC parton shower and the SHERPA event generator.

A simple algorithm for polarized parton evolution

We present an algorithm to include the correlation between the production and decay planes of gluons in a parton-shower simulation. The technique is based on identifying the charge currents responsible for the creation and annihilation of the vector field. It is applicable in both the hard-collinear and the soft wide-angle region. As a function of the number of particles, the algorithm scales linear in computing time and memory. We demonstrate agreement with fixed-order perturbative calculations in the relevant kinematical limits, and present a new observable that can be used to probe correlations beyond current-current interactions.

Theory uncertainties of the irreducible background to VBF Higgs production

Higgs boson production through gluon fusion in association with two jets is an irreducible background to Higgs boson production through vector boson fusion, one of the most important channels for analyzing and understanding the Higgs boson properties at the Large Hadron Collider. Despite a range of available simulation tools, precise predictions for the corresponding final states are notoriously hard to achieve. Using state-of-the-art fixed-order calculations as the baseline for a comparison, we perform a detailed study of similarities and differences in existing event generators. We provide consistent setups for the simulations that can be used to obtain identical parametric precision in various programs used by experiments. We find that NLO calculations for the two-jet final state are essential to achieve reliable predictions.

Massive tree-level splitting functions beyond kinematical limits

We present a compact form of the massive $1\to 3$ tree-level QCD splitting functions and discuss a decomposition of the results in terms of lower-order expressions, scalar dipole antenna functions and pure higher-order remainders. The two-gluon radiator functions introduced in this context are novel and generalize expressions obtained from the double-soft approximation. Our results are obtained without reference to soft or quasi-collinear limits.

QCD splitting functions beyond kinematical limits

We present a systematic decomposition of QCD splitting functions into scalar dipole radiators and pure splitting remainders up to second order in the strong coupling. The individual components contain terms that are formally sub-leading in soft or collinear scaling parameters, but well understood and universal due to their origin in scalar QCD. The multipole radiator functions which we derive share essential features of the known double-soft and one-loop soft gluon currents, and are not based on kinematical approximations.

Higgs production via vector-boson fusion at the LHC

In this article, we summarise the recent experimental measurements and theoretical work on Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion at the LHC. Along with this, we provide state-of-the-art predictions at fixed order as well as with parton-shower corrections within the Standard Model at 13.6 TeV. The results are presented in the form of multi-differential distributions as well as in the Simplified Template Cross Section bins. All materials and outputs of this study are available on public repositories. Finally, following findings in the literature, recommendations are made to estimate theoretical uncertainties related to parton-shower corrections.

QCD Theory meets Information Theory

We present a novel technique to incorporate precision calculations from quantum chromodynamics into fully differential particle-level Monte-Carlo simulations. By minimizing an information-theoretic quantity subject to constraints, our reweighted Monte Carlo incorporates systematic uncertainties absent in individual Monte Carlo predictions, achieving consistency with the theory input in precision and its estimated systematic uncertainties. Our method can be applied to arbitrary observables known from precision calculations, including multiple observables simultaneously. It generates strictly positive weights, thus offering a clear path to statistically powerful and theoretically precise computations for current and future collider experiments. As a proof of concept, we apply our technique to event-shape observables at electron-positron colliders, leveraging existing precision calculations of thrust. Our analysis highlights the importance of logarithmic moments of event shapes, which have not been previously studied in the collider physics literature.

Recoil-Safe Subtraction, Matching and Merging in e+e- to hadrons

We present the first next-to-leading order matched and multi-jet merged predictions based on the Alaric parton shower. The components needed for infrared subtraction in the S-MC@NLO algorithm are computed analytically for the case of color singlet decays to hadronic final states and validated against existing approaches for up to e+e- to 5 jets. Phenomenological results for e+e- to hadrons at the Z pole are obtained with up to five jets at next-to-leading order precision, for the first time using an evolution algorithm with NLL-preserving kinematics mapping.

Event generation with Sherpa 3

Sherpa is a general-purpose Monte Carlo event generator for the simulation of particle collisions in high-energy collider experiments. We summarise new developments, essential features, and ongoing improvements within the Sherpa 3 release series. Physics improvements include higher-order electroweak corrections, simulations of photoproduction and hard diffraction at NLO QCD, heavy-flavour matching in NLO multijet merging, spin-polarised cross section calculations, and a new model of colour reconnections. In addition, the modelling of hadronisation, the underlying event and QED effects in both production and decay has been improved, and the overall event generation efficiency has been enhanced.

Algorithms for numerically stable scattering amplitudes

The numerically stable evaluation of scattering matrix elements near the infrared limit of gauge theories is of great importance for the success of collider physics experiments. We present a novel algorithm that utilizes double precision arithmetic and reaches higher precision than a naive quadruple precision implementation at smaller computational cost. The method is based on physics-driven modifications to propagators, vertices and external polarizations.

A Portable Parton-Level Event Generator for the High-Luminosity LHC

The rapid deployment of computing hardware different from the traditional CPU+RAM model in data centers around the world mandates a change in the design of event generators for the Large Hadron Collider, in order to provide economically and ecologically sustainable simulations for the high-luminosity era of the LHC. Parton-level event generation is one of the most computationally demanding parts of the simulation and is therefore a prime target for improvements. We present a production-ready leading-order parton-level event generation framework capable of utilizing most modern hardware and discuss its performance in the standard candle processes of vector boson and top-quark pair production with up to five additional jets.

The Alaric parton shower for hadron colliders

We introduce the Alaric parton shower for simulating QCD radiation at hadron colliders and present numerical results from an implementation in the event generator Sherpa. Alaric provides a consistent framework to quantify certain systematic uncertainties which cannot be eliminated by comparing the parton shower with analytic resummation. In particular, it allows to study recoil effects away from the soft and collinear limits without the need to change the evolution variable or the splitting functions. We assess the performance of Alaric in Drell-Yan lepton pair and QCD jet production, and present the first multi-jet merging for the new algorithm.

$t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$ at NLO precision in a variable flavor number scheme

Top-quark pair production in association with two b-jets is computed at next-to-leading order QCD precision, including effects of the b-quark mass, and matched to a $t\bar{t}$+jets simulation in a variable flavor number scheme. The Monte Carlo realization of this method, called fusing, consistently embeds the four-flavor calculation in a particle-level event generator. As a first phenomenological application, we present observables relevant to the data-driven estimation of irreducible backgrounds to $t\bar{t}H$-production.

Efficient precision simulation of processes with many-jet final states at the LHC

We present a scalable technique for the simulation of collider events with multi-jet final states, based on an improved parton-level event file format. The method is implemented for both leading- and next-to-leading order QCD calculations. We perform a comprehensive analysis of the I/O performance and validate our new framework using Higgs-boson plus multi-jet production with up to seven jets. We make the resulting code base available for public use.
