Holographic subregion complexity of boosted black brane and Fisher information

In this paper, we have studied the holographic subregion complexity for boosted black brane for strip like subsystem. The holographic subregion complexity has been computed for a subsystem chosen along and perpendicular to the boost direction. We have observed that there is an asymmetry in the result due to the boost parameter which can be attributed to the asymmetry in the holographic entanglement entropy. The Fisher information metric and the fidelity susceptibility have also been computed using bulk dual prescriptions. It is observed that the two metrics computed holographically are not related for both the pure black brane as well as the boosted black brane. This is one of the main findings in this paper and the holographic results have been compared with the results available in the quantum information literature where it is known that the two distances are related to each other in general.

Meissner like effect in holographic superconductors with back reaction

In this article we employ the matching method to analytically investigate the properties of holographic superconductors in the framework of Maxwell electrodynamics taking into account the effects of back reaction on spacetime. The relationship between the critical temperature ($T_{c}$) and the charge density ($ρ$) has been obtained first. The influence of back reaction on Meissner like effect in this holographic superconductor is then studied. The results for the critical temperature indicate that the condensation gets harder to form when we include the effect of back reaction. The expression for the critical magnetic field ($B_{c}$) above which the superconducting phase vanishes is next obtained. It is observed from our investigation that the ratio of $B_{c}$ and $T_{c}^{2}$ increases with the increase in the back reaction parameter. However, the critical magnetic field $B_c$ decreases with increase in the back reaction parameter.

Analytic investigation of rotating holographic superconductors

In this paper we have investigated, in the probe limit, $s$-wave holographic superconductors in rotating $AdS_{3+1}$ spacetime using the matching method as well as the St{ü}rm-Liouville eigenvalue approach. We have calculated the critical temperature using the matching technique in such a setting and our results are in agreement with previously reported results obtained using the St{ü}rm-Liouville approach. We have then obtained the condensation operators using both analytical methods. The results obtained by both these techniques share the same features as found numerically. We observe that the rotation parameter of the black hole affects the critical temperature and the condensation operator in a non-trivial way.

Bulk geometry from entanglement entropy of CFT

In this paper, we compute the exact form of the bulk geometry emerging from a $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory using the holographic principle. We first consider the $(2+1)$-dimensional asymptotic $AdS$ metric in Poincare coordinates and compute the area functional corresponding to the static minimal surface $γ_A$ and obtain the entanglement entropy making use of the holographic entanglement entropy proposal. We then use the results of the entanglement entropy for $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory on an infinite line, on an infinite line at a finite temperature and on a circle. Comparing these results with the holographic entanglement entropy, we are able to extract the proper structure of the bulk metric. Finally, we also carry out our analysis in the case of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory and obtain the exact form of the dual bulk geometry corresponding to this theory. The analysis reveals the behavior of the bulk metric in both the near boundary region and deep inside the bulk. The results also show the influence of the boundary UV cut-off "$a$" on the bulk metric. It is observed that the reconstructed metrics match exactly with the known results in the literature when one moves deep inside the bulk or towards the turning point.

Holographic insulator/superconductor phase transition in higher dimensional Gauss-Bonnet gravity

In this work, we have analytically investigated the insulator/superconductor phase transition in the presence of $d$-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet AdS soliton background. Using the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue method, we have calculated the value of the critical chemical potential $μ_c$ in any arbitrary dimension $d\geq 5$. We have then studied the condensation operator values and charge density in terms of the chemical potential and discussed the $d=5, 6, 7$ cases using our general results in $d$ dimensions. Our analytical results agree very well with the numerically findings in the literature.

Path integral action of a particle with the generalized uncertainty principle and correspondence with noncommutativity

The existence of an observer independent minimum length scale can lead to the modification of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle to the generalized uncertainty principle. This in turn would be responsible for the modification of the Hamiltonian describing a non-relativistic particle moving in the presence of an arbitrary potential. In this work we carry out a path integral formulation to compute the transition amplitude for this particle. The formalism yields the action of such a particle in an arbitrary potential. Interestingly, the action indicates that there is an upper bound to the velocity that a particle can have which depends on the generalized uncertainty principle parameter. We then compute explicitly the propagator of a free particle and particle moving in a harmonic oscilltor potential using the path integral representation of the transition amplitude. We observe that there exists a curious connection between the transition amplitude of the free particle in the generalized uncertainty priciple framework with the corresponding result in noncommutative space found from the path integral formulation in \cite{sgprl}. From the harmonic oscillator result for the transition amplitude, we calculate the ground state energy of the harmonic oscillator. The result shows that the ground state energy of the harmonic oscillator in the framework of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle gets augmented by the presence of the generalized uncertainty principle and also depends on the mass of the particle. We also demonstrate that the result agrees with that obatined using the operatorial approach.

Holographic entanglement thermodynamics for higher dimensional charged black hole

In this paper, we have investigated the entanglement thermodynamics for $d$-dimensional charged $AdS$ black hole by studying the holographic entanglement entropy in different cases. We have first computed the holographic entanglement entropy in extremal and non-extremal cases in two different regimes, namely, the low temperature and high temperature limits. We then obtain the first law of entanglement thermodynamics for boundary field theory in the low temperature regime in $d$-dimensions.

Anisotropic scalar-metric quantum cosmology and unitarity

In this article we perform the Wheeler-DeWitt quantization for Bianchi type $I$ anisotropic cosmological model in the presence of a scalar field minimally coupled to the Einstein-Hilbert gravity theory. We also consider the cosmological (perfect) fluid to construct the matter sector of the model whose dynamics plays the role of time. After obtaining the Wheeler-DeWitt equation from the Hamiltonian formalism, we then define the self-adjointness relations properly. Doing that we proceed to get a solution for the Wheeler-DeWitt equation and construct a well behaved wave function for the universe. The unitary evolution of the wave function in the presence of the scalar field is finally restored by an appropriate choice of weight factor in defining the norm of the wave packet. It is then concluded that the Big-Bang singularity can be removed in the context of quantum cosmology.

Holographic complexity of black non-susy D3-brane and the high temperature limit

The holographic complexity of a `black' non-susy $D3$-brane is computed. The difference in the holographic complexity between this geometry in the Fefferman-Graham coordinates and that of the $AdS_5$ geometry is obtained for a strip type subsystem. This is then related to the changes in the energy and the entanglement entropy of the system. We next take the high temperature limit of the change in complexity and observe that it scales with the temperature in the same way as the holographic entanglement entropy. The crossover of the holographic complexity to its corresponding thermal counterpart is similar to the corresponding crossover of the holographic entanglement entropy in the high temperature limit. We further repeat the analysis for $\mathcal{N} =4$ super Yang-Mills theory and observe a similar behaviour.

Footprint of spatial noncommutativity in resonant detectors of gravitational wave

The present day gravitational wave (GW) detectors strive to detect the length variation $δL = h L$, which, owing to the smallness of the metric perturbation $\sim h$, is an extremely small length $\mathcal{O} \sim 10^{-18} - 10^{-21}$ meter. The recently proposed noncommutative structure of space has a characteristic length-scale $\sqrtθ$ which has an estimated upper-bound in similar length-scale range. We therefore propose that GW data can be used as an effective probe of noncommutative structure of space and demonstrate how spatial noncommutativity modifies the responding frequency of the resonant mass detectors of GW and also the corresponding probabilities of GW induced transitions that the phonon modes of the resonant mass detectors undergo. In this paper we present the complete perturbative calculation involving both time-independent and time-dependent perturbation terms in the Hamiltonian.

The Effect of Modified Dispersion Relation on Dumb Holes

In this paper, we will deform the usual energy-momentum dispersion relation of a photon gas at an intermediate scale between the Planck and electroweak scales. We will demonstrate that such a deformation can have non-trivial effects on the physics of dumb holes. So, motivated by the physics of dumb holes, we will first analyse the effect of such a deformation on thermodynamics. Then we observe that the velocity of sound also gets modified due to such a modification of the thermodynamics. This changes the position of the horizon of a dumb hole, and the analogous Hawking radiation from a dumb hole. Therefore, dumb holes can be used to measure the deformation of the usual energy-momentum dispersion relation.

Path integral action of a particle in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime

In this letter, we derive the path integral action of a particle in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. The equation of motion for an arbitrary potential due to the $κ$-deformation of the Minkowski spacetime is then obtained. The action contains a dissipative term which owes its origin to the $κ$-Minkowski deformation parameter $a$. We take the example of the harmonic oscillator and obtain the frequency of oscillations in the path integral approach as well as operator approach upto the first order in the deformation parameter $a$. For studying this, we start with the $κ$-deformed dispersion relation which is invariant under the undeformed $κ$-Poincar$\acute{e}$ algebra and take the non-relativistic limit of the $κ$-deformed dispersion relation to find the Hamiltonian. The propagator for the free particle in the $κ$-Minkowski spacetime is also computed explicitly. In the limit, $a\rightarrow 0$, the commutative results are recovered.

Conductivity of holographic superconductors in Born-Infeld electrodynamics

In this paper, we have analytically computed the conductivity of holographic superconductors in the framework of Born-Infeld electrodynamics taking into account the backreaction of the matter fields on the bulk spacetime metric. The effect of the Born-Infeld electrodynamics is incorporated in the metric. The band gap energy is found to be corrected by the backreaction and Born-Infeld parameters. The conductivity expression is then compared with that obtained from a self consistent approach.

Black hole thermodynamics and generalized uncertainty principle with higher order terms in momentum uncertainty

In this paper we study the modification of thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström black hole in the framework of generalized uncertainty principle with correction terms upto fourth order in momentum uncertainty. The mass-temperature relation and the heat capacity for these black holes have been investigated. These have been used to obtain the critical and remnant masses. The entropy expression using this generalized uncertainty principle reveals the area law upto leading order logarithmic corrections and subleading corrections of the form $\frac{1}{A^n}$. The mass output and radiation rate using Stefan-Boltzmann law have been computed which show deviations from the standard case and the case with the simplest form for the generalized uncertainty principle.

Rainbow black hole thermodynamics and the generalized uncertainty principle

We study the phase transition of rainbow inspired higher dimensional Schwarzschild black hole incorporating the effects of the generalized uncertainty principle. First, we obtain the relation between the mass and Hawking temperature of the rainbow inspired black hole taking into account the effects of the modified dispersion relation and the generalized uncertainty principle. The heat capacity is then computed from this relation which reveals that there are remnants. The entropy of the black hole is next obtained in $3+1$ and $4+1$-dimensions and is found to have logarithmic corrections only in $3+1$-dimensions. We further investigate the local temperature, free energy and stability of the black hole in an isothermal cavity. From the analysis of the free energy, we find that there are two Hawking-Page type phase transitions in $3+1$ and $4+1$-dimensions if we take into account the generalized uncertainty principle. However, in the absence of the generalized uncertainty principle, only one Hawking-Page type phase transition exists in spacetime dimensions greater than four.

Shadow of a noncommutative geometry inspired Ayón Beato García black hole

We introduce the noncommutative geometry inspired Ayón Beato García black hole metric and study various properties of this metric by which we try to probe the allowed values of the noncommutative parameter $\vartheta$ under certain conditions. We then construct the shadow (apparent shape) cast by this black hole. We derive the corresponding photon orbits and explore the effects of noncommutative spacetime on them. We then study the effects of noncommutative parameter $\vartheta$, smeared mass $m(r)$, smeared charge $q(r)$ on the silhouette of the shadow analytically and present the results graphically. We then discuss the deformation which arises in the shape of the shadow under various conditions. Finally, we introduce a plasma background and observe how the shadow behaves in this scenario.

Noncommutative effects of charged black hole on holographic superconductors

In this paper, we analytically investigate the noncommutative effects of a charged black hole on holographic superconductors. The effects of charge of the black hole is investigated in our study. Employing the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue method, the relation between the critical temperature and charge density is analytically investigated. The condensation operator is then computed. It is observed that condensate gets harder to form for large values of charge of the black hole.

Scalar-metric quantum cosmology with Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid

In this paper we consider the flat FRW cosmology with a scalar field coupled with the metric along with generalized Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid comprising the matter sector. We use the Schutz's formalism to deal with the generalized Chaplygin gas sector. The full theory is then quantized canonically using the Wheeler-DeWitt Hamiltonian formalism. We then solve the WD equation with appropriate boundary conditions. Then by defining a proper completeness relation for the self-adjointness of the WD equation we arrive at the wave packet for the universe. It is observed that the peak in the probability density gets affected due to both fluids in the matter sector, namely, the Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid.
