Constraints of Mixing Angles from Lepton Number Violating Processes

We discuss the constraints of lepton mixing angles from lepton number violating processes such as neutrinoless double beta decay, (μ^-)-(e^+) conversion and K decay, $K^- \to π^+μ^-μ^-$ which are allowed only if neutrinos are Majorana particles. The rates of these processes are proportional to the averaged neutrino mass defined by $ _{a b}\equiv |\sum_{j=1}^{3}U_{a j} U_{b j}m_j|$ in the absence of right-handed weak coupling. Here $a, b (j)$ are flavour(mass) eigen states and $U_{a j}$ is the left-handed lepton mixing matrix. We obtain the consistency conditions which are satisfied irrelevant to the concrete values of CP violation phases (three phases in Majorana neutrinos). These conditions constrain the lepton mixing angles, neutrino masses $m_i$ and (< m_ν >_{a b}). By using these constraints we obtain the limits on the averaged neutrino masses for (μ^-)-(e^+) conversion and K decay, $K^- \to π^+μ^-μ^-$.

Constraints of mixing angles from neutrino oscillation experiments and neutrinoless double beta decay

From the analyses of the recent data of neutrino oscillation experiments (especially the CHOOZ and the Super KAMIOKANDE experiments), we discuss how these data affect the neutrinoless double beta decay ($(ββ)_{0ν}$) rate and vice versa assuming that neutrinos are Majorana particles. For the case that $m_1 \sim m_2 \ll m_3$ ($m_i$ are neutrino masses), we obtain, from the data of the CHOOZ and Super KAMIOKANDE, $0.28 \le \sin^2θ_{23} \le 0.76$ and $\sin^2θ_{13} \le 0.05$. Combining the latter constraint with the analysis of the "averaged" neutrino mass (< m_ν>) appeared in $(ββ)_{0ν}$, we find that (\frac{< m_ν>-m_2}{m_3-m_2}<\sin^2 θ_{13} \le 0.05), which leads to the constraint on (< m_ν>) as (< m_ν> \le 0.05 m_3+(1-0.05)m_2). For the case that $m_1 \ll m_2 \sim m_3$, we find that the data of neutrino oscillation experiments and$(ββ)_{0ν}$ imply the constraints of mixing angles.

N-Soliton Solutions to a New (2 + 1) Dimensional Integrable Equation

We give explicitly N-soliton solutions of a new (2 + 1) dimensional equation, $ϕ_{xt} + ϕ_{xxxz}/4 + ϕ_x ϕ_{xz} + ϕ_{xx} ϕ_z/2 + \partial_x^{-1} ϕ_{zzz}/4 = 0$. This equation is obtained by unifying two directional generalization of the KdV equation, composing the closed ring with the KP equation and Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff equation. We also find the Miura transformation which yields the same ring in the corresponding modified equations.

CP Violation in Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay and Neutrino Oscillation

Taking account of possible CP violation, we discuss about the constraints on the lepton mixing angles from the neutrinoless double beta decay and from the neutrino oscillation for the three flavour Majorana neutrinos. From the CHORUS oscillation experiment, combined with the data of neutrinoless double beta decay, we show that the large angle solution of (θ_{23}) is improbable if the neutrino mass (m_3) of the third generation is a candidate of hot dark matters.

Elliptical Lens Model in PG1115+080

The mass distribution of the lensing galaxy of the multiple quasar PG1115+080 has been studied. Using the observational data of Christian et al. (1987, ApJ 464, 92), we applied a single elliptical lens model with a softened power-law behavior. It has been revealed that the image positions, amplifications and time delays of this lensing system cannot be explained by the single transparent lens model. We compare this elliptical lens model with a multipole expansion model.

N Soliton Solutions to The Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff Equation and A Quest for The Soliton Solution in (3 + 1) Dimensions

We study the integrable systems in higher dimensions which can be written not by the Hirota's bilinear form but by the trilinear form. We explicitly discuss about the Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff(BS) equation in (2 + 1) dimensions. Its analytical proof of multi soliton solution and a new feature are given. Being guided by the strong symmetry, we also propose a new equation in (3 + 1) dimensions.

CP Violation in Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay

We argue three-flavour neutrino mixing. We consider the neutrinos as Majorana particles and see how the neutrinoless double beta decay constrains the neutrino mixing angles. Our formulation is widely valid and is applied to the neutrino oscillation experiment.

Mass Matrix of Majorana Neutrinos

We present a massive Majorana neutrino model and see how it is constrained from the solar and atmospheric neutrino deficit experiments. This model incorporates the seesaw mechanism and Peccei-Quinn symmetry. Its consequence to the neutrinoless double beta decay is also discussed.

Multipole Expansion Model in Gravitational Lensing

Non-transparent models of multipole expansion model and two point-mass model are analyzed from the catastrophe theory. Singularity behaviours of $2^n$-pole moments are discussed. We apply these models to triple quasar PG1115+080 and compare with the typical transparent model, softened power law spheroids. Multipole expansion model gives the best fit among them.

The Painlevé Test of Higher Dimensional KdV Equation

We argue the integrability of the generalized KdV(GKdV) equation using the Painlevé test. For $d( \le 2)$ dimensional space, GKdV equation passes the Painlevé test but does not for $d \geq 3$ dimensional space. We also apply the Ablowitz-Ramani-Segur's conjecture to the GKdV equation in order to complement the Painlevé test.

Gravitational Instantons in Ashtekar's Formalism

Gravitational instantons of Bianchi type IX space are constructed in Ashtekar's canonical formalism. Instead of solving the self-duality condition, we fully solve the constraint on the ``initial surface'' and ``Hamiltonian equations''. This formalism is applicable to the matter coupled system with cosmological constant.

Gravitational lensing and Catastrophe theory

Singularities of caustics appeared in gravitational lensing effect are discussed analytically. Multipole expansion model of lensing object is mainly studied since it is tractable and universal. Our analyses are confirmed by numerical calculations and applied to multiple quasar system of PG1115+080. Consistencies with elliptical lens models are also discussed.

Massive Analogue of Ashtekar-CJD Action

The action of Ashtekar gravity have been found by Cappovilla, Jacobson and Dell. It does not depend on the metric nor the signature of the space-time. The action has a similar structure as that of a massless relativistic particle. The former is naturally generalized by adding a term analogous to a mass term of the relativistic particle. The new action possesses a constant parameter regarded as a kind of a cosmological constant. It is interesting to find a covariant Einstein equation from the action. In order to do it we will examine how the geometrical quantities are determined from the non-metric action and how the Einstein equation follows from it.
