Dynamical Correlations as Origin of Nonextensive Entropy

We present a simple and general argument showing that a class of dynamical correlations give rise to the so-called Tsallis nonextensive statistics. An example of a system having such a dynamics is given, exhibiting a non-Boltzmann energy distribution. A relation with prethermalization processes is discussed.

Pseudogap of Color Superconductivity in Heated Quark Matter

We show that the pseudogap of the quark density of states is formed in hot quark matter as a precursory phenomenon of the color superconductivity on the basis of a low-energy effective theory. We clarify that the decaying process of quarks near Fermi surface to a hole and the diquark soft mode (qq)_{soft} is responsible for the formation of the pseudogap. Our result suggests that the pseudogap is a universal phenomenon in strong coupling superconductors.

Langevin Dynamics of Chiral Phase Transition at Finite Temperature and Density

We derive the linear Langevin equation to describe the dynamics of the chiral phase transition above the critical temperature by applying the projection operator method to the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at finite temperature and density. The relaxation time of the critical fluctuations increases as the temperature approaches toward the critical temperature because of the critical slowing down. The critical slowing down is enhanced in low temperature and large chemical potential region and around the tricritical point.

Enhancement of Critical Slowing Down in Chiral Phase Transition -- Langevin Dynamics Approach --

We derive the linear Langevin equation that describes the behavior of the fluctuations of the order parameter of the chiral phase transition above the critical temperature by applying the projection operator method to the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at finite temperature and density. The Langevin equation relaxes exhibiting oscillation, reveals thermalization and converges to the equilibrium state consistent with the mean-field approximation as time goes on. With the help of this Langevin equation, we further investigate the relaxation of the critical fluctuations. The relaxation time of the critical fluctuations increases at speed as the temperature approaches toward the critical temperature because of the critical slowing down. The critical slowing down is enhanced as the chemical potential increases because of the Pauli blocking. Furthermore, we find another enhancement of the critical slowing down around the tricritical point.

Linear Langevin Equation of Critical Fluctuation in Chiral Phase Transition

We derive the linear Langevin equation that describes the behavior of critical fluctuation above the critical temperature of the chiral phase transition in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The Langevin equation relaxes exhibiting oscillation and shows thermalization. The relaxation becomes slower as the system approaches the critical point(the critical slowing down). The time correlation function also calculated using the Langevin equation shows that there exists the same soft mode as the previous calculation in the linear response theory.

Effects of Vector Coupling on Chiral and Color-superconducting Phase Transitions -- interplay among the scalar, pairing and vector interaction --

We investigate effects of the vector interaction appearing in chiral effective Lagrangians on the chiral and color superconducting (CSC) phase transitions using Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. It is shown that the repulsive density-density interaction coming from the vector term enhances competition between the chiral symmerty breaking and CSC phase transition: When the vector coupling is increased, the first order transition between the chiral symmerty breaking and CSC phase becomes weaker, and the coexisting phase in which both the chiral and color-gauge symmetries are dynamically broken comes to exisit in a wider region in the T-μplane. We find that the critical line of the first order transition can have two endpoints for an intermediate range of the vector coupling.

Precursor of Color Superconductivity

We investigate possible precursory phenomena of color superconductivity at finite temperature $T$ with an effective theory of QCD. It is found that the fluctuation of the diquark pair field exists with a prominent strength even well above the critical temperature $T_c$. We show that such a fluctuaiton forms a collective mode, the corresponding pole of which approaches the origin as $T$ is lowered to $T_c$ in the complex energy plane. We discuss the possible relevance of the precursor to the observables to be detected in heavy-ion collisions.

Chiral and Color-superconducting Phase Transitions with Vector Interaction in a Simple Model

We investigate effects of the vector interaction on chiral and color superconducting (CSC) phase transitions at finite density and temperature in a simple Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. It is shown that the repulsive density-density interaction coming from the vector term, which is present in the effective chiral models but has been omitted, enhances the competition between the chiral symmerty breaking (chiSB) and CSC phase transition, and thereby makes the thermodynamic potential have a shallow minimum over a wide range of values of the correlated chiral and CSC order parameters. We find that when the vector coupling is increased, the first order transition between the chiSB and CSC phases becomes weaker, and the coexisting phase in which both the chiral and color-gauge symmetry are dynamically broken comes to exisit over a wider range of the density and temperature. We also show that there can exist two endpoints, which are tricritical points in the chiral limit, along the critical line of the first order transition in some range of values of the vector coupling. Although our analysis is based on a simple model, the nontrivial interplay between the chiSB and CSC phases induced by the vector interaction is expected to be a universal phenomenon and might give a clue to understanding results obtained with two-color QCD on the lattice.

Decay process accelerated by tunneling in its very early stage

We examine a fast decay process that arises in the transition period between the Gaussian and exponential decay processes in quantum decay systems. It is usually expected that the decay is decelerated by a confinement potential barrier. However, we find a case where the decay in the transition period is accelerated by tunneling through a confinement potential barrier. We show that the acceleration gives rise to an appreciable effect on the time evolution of the nonescape probability of the decay system.

Projection Operator Approach to Langevin Equations in $ϕ^4$ Theory

We apply the projection operator method (POM) to $ϕ^4$ theory and derive both quantum and semiclassical equations of motion for the soft modes. These equations have no time-convolution integral term, in sharp contrast with other well-known results obtained using the influence functional method (IFM) and the closed time path method (CTP). However, except for the fluctuation force field terms, these equations are similar to the corresponding equations obtained using IFM with the linear harmonic approximation, which was introduced to remove the time-convolution integral. The quantum equation of motion in POM can be regarded as a kind of quantum Langevin equation in which the fluctuation force field is given in terms of the operators of the hard modes. These operators are then replaced with c-numbers using a certain procedure to obtain a semiclassical Langevin equation. It is pointed out that there are significant differences between the fluctuation force fields introduced in this paper and those introduced in IFM. The arbitrariness of the definition of the fluctuation force field in IFM is also discussed.

Precursor of Color Superconductivity in Hot Quark Matter

We investigate possible precursory phenomena of color superconductivity in quark matter at finite temperature T with use of a simple Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. It is found that the fluctuating pair field exists with a prominent strength even well above the critical temperature T_c. We show that the collective pair field has a complex energy located in the second Riemann sheet, which approaches the origin as T is lowered to T_c. We discuss the possible relevance of the precursor to the observables to be detected in heavy ion collisions.

A New Expansion of the Heisenberg Equation of Motion with Projection Operator

We derive a new expansion of the Heisenberg equation of motion based on the projection operator method proposed by Shibata, Hashitsume and Shingū. In their projection operator method, a certain restriction is imposed on the initial state. As a result, one cannot prepare arbitrary initial states, for example a coherent state, to calculate the time development of quantum systems. In this paper, we generalize the projection operator method by relaxing this restriction. We explain our method in the case of a Hamiltonian both with and without explicit time dependence. Furthermore, we apply it to an exactly solvable model called the damped harmonic oscillator model and confirm the validity of our method.

Mass Renormalization for Time Dependent Correlation Functions in Shibata-Hashitsume's Projection Operator Method

We study the time development of correlation functions at both zero and finite temperature with Shibata-Hashitsume's projection operator method and carry out the renormalization of ultraviolet divergence that appears in a time-dependent frequency shift, using a mass counter term. A harmless divergence of log t-type remains at an initial time t=0 after the lowest order renormalization.
