Canonical enhancement as a result of Poisson distribution

We point out that a certain finite size effect in heavy ion physics, the canonical enhancement, is based on the difference of conservation constrained pair statistics for Poisson and Gauss distributions, respectively. Consequently it should occur in a wide range of phenomena, whenever comparing rare and frequent events.

Towards thermodynamical consistency of qusiparticle picture

The purpose of the present article is to call attention to some realistic quasiparticle-based description of the quark/gluon matter and its consistent implementation in thermodynamics. A simple and transparent representation of the thermodynamical consistency conditions is given. This representation allows one to review critically and systemize available phenomenological approaches to the deconfinement problem with respect to their thermodynamical consistency. A particular attention is paid to the development of a method for treating the string screening in the dense matter of unbound color charges. The proposed method yields an integrable effective pair potential which can be incorporated into the mean-field picture. The results of its application are in reasonable agreement with lattice data on the QCD thermodynamics.

Chaotic Quantization of Classical Gauge Fields

We argue that the quantized non-Abelian gauge theory can be obtained as the infrared limit of the corresponding classical gauge theory in a higher dimension. We show how the transformation from classical to quantum field theory emerges and calculate Planck's constant from quantities defined in the underlying classical gauge theory.

Hyperon ratios at RHIC and the coalescence predictions at mid-rapidity

Quark coalescence predictions for various multi-strange baryon to anti-baryon ratios for central Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies are compared to preliminary data of the STAR collaboration. The formation of Quark Matter and the sudden recombination of its constituent quarks into hadrons is found to be in agreement with these preliminary data. It seems that strange hadron and antihadron production in Au+Au collisions at RHIC is similar to that in Pb+Pb collisions at CERN SPS.

Chaotic Quantization of Classical Gauge Fields

We argue that higher dimensional classical, nonabelian gauge theory may lead to a lower dimensional quantum field theory due to its inherent chaotic dynamics which acts like stohastic quantization. The dimensional reduction is based upon magnetic screening effects analagous to that in nonabelian plasmas.

Strange mesons from quark and hadron matter: a comparison

In a simplified model we study the hadronization of quark matter in an expanding fireball, in particular the approach to a final hadronic composition in equilibrium. Ideal hadron gas equilibrium constrained by conservation laws, the fugacity parametrization, as well as linear and non-linear coalescence approaches are recognized as different approximations to this in-medium quark fusion process. It is shown that color confinement requires a dependence of the hadronization cross section on quark density in the presence of flow (dynamical confinement).

Simple predictions from ALCOR_c for rehadronisation of charmed quark matter

We study the production of charmed hadrons with the help of ALCOR_c, the algebraic coalescence model for rehadronisation of charmed quark matter. Mesonic ratios are introduced as factors connecting various antibaryon to baryon ratios. The resulting simple relations could serve as tests of quark matter formation and coalescence type rehadronization in heavy ion collisions.

Quark Coalescence and Hadronic Equilibrium

In a simplified model we study how close can the result of a fast, non-equilibrium hadronization of quark matter in an expanding fireball come to hadronic composition in equilibrium. We present a chemical approach to the simple A+B --> C quark fusion, showing ideal equilibrium constrained by conservation laws, the fugacity parametrization, as well as linear and non-linear quark coalescence models as different approximations to this chemistry. It is shown that color confinement requires a quark density dependent hadronization cross section.

Hadronization in the Chromodielectric Model

We study the dynamics of quarks and gluons in the Chromodielectric Model (CDM), which contains a dynamical description of confinement. Results are presented for hadronization out of an equilibrated quark--gluon plasma. It is shown that hadronization is complete and hadrons are classified within the scheme of CDM.

Quark liberation and coalescence at CERN SPS

The mischievous linear coalescence approach to hadronization of quark matter is shown to violate strangeness conservation in strong interactions. The simplest correct quark counting is shown to coincide with the non-linear algebraic coalescence rehadronization model, ALCOR. The non-linearity of the ALCOR model is shown to cancel from its simple predictions for the relative yields of (multi-)strange baryons. We prove, model independently, that quark degrees of freedom are liberated before hadron formation in 158 AGeV central Pb + Pb collisions at CERN SPS.

Hadronization with a confining equation of state

We present a fast hadronization model for the constituent quark plasma (CQP) produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS. The model is based on rate equations and on a confining equation of state inspired by the string phenomenology. We display the time evolution of the relevant physical quantities during the hadronization process and the final hadron multiplicities. The results indicate that the hadronization of CQP is fast.

Stochastic Disoriented Chiral Condensates

Applying a Langevin description of the linear sigma model we investigate four different scenarios for the evolution of a disoriented chiral condensate: annealing or quench with initial conditions governed by effective `light' or physical mass pions. We present pion number distributions estimated from the zero mode (i.e. k=0-field) component. The best DCC signal is expected for the quench scenario with initial conditions centered around zero as would be the case of effective light `pions' close to the phase transition. Our investigations support the idea of looking for DCC formation in individual events.

Hadronization of massive quark matter

We present a fast hadronization model for the constituent quark plasma (CQP) produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS. The model is based on rate equations and on an equation of state inspired by the string phenomenology. This equation of state has a confining character. We display the time evolution of the relevant physical quantities during the hadronization process and the final hadron multiplicities. The results indicate that the hadronization of CQP is fast.

Hadronization in Heavy-Ion Reactions

We present a model of fast hadronization of constituent quark matter in relativistic heavy ion collisions based on rate equations and capture cross sections in non-relativistic potential. We utilize a thermodynamically consistent approach with a non-ideal equation of state including correlation terms based on string phenomenology. We investigate strange and non-strange particle ratios observed in CERN SPS experiments.

Hadronization of a Quark-Gluon Plasma in the Chromodielectric Model

We have carried out simulations of the hadronization of a hot, ideal but effectively massive quark-gluon gas into color neutral clusters in the framework of the semi-classical SU(3) chromodielectric model. We have studied the possible quark-gluon compositions of clusters as well as the final mass distribution and spectra, aiming to obtain an insight into relations between hadronic spectral properties and the confinement mechanism in this model.
