A radiative neutrino mass model in light of DAMPE excess with hidden gauged $U(1)$ symmetry

We propose a one-loop induced neutrino mass model with hidden $U(1)$ gauge symmetry, in which we successfully involve a bosonic dark matter (DM) candidate propagating inside a loop diagram in neutrino mass generation to explain the $e^+e^-$ excess recently reported by the DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) experiment. In our scenario dark matter annihilates into four leptons through $Z'$ boson as DM DM $\to Z' Z' (Z' \to \ell^+ \ell^-)$ and $Z'$ decays into leptons via one-loop effect. We then investigate branching ratios of $Z'$ taking into account lepton flavor violations and neutrino oscillation data.

Left-handed and right-handed U(1) gauge symmetry

We propose a model with the left-handed and right-handed continuous Abelian gauge symmetry; $U(1)_L\times U(1)_R$. Then three right-handed neutrinos are naturally required to achieve $U(1)_R$ anomaly cancellations, while several mirror fermions are also needed to do $U(1)_L$ anomaly cancellations. Then we formulate the model, and discuss its testability of the new gauge interactions at collider physics such as the large hadron collider (LHC) and the international linear collider (ILC). In particular, we can investigate chiral structure of the interactions by the analysis of forward-backward asymmetry based on polarized beam at the ILC.

Minimal realization of right-handed gauge symmetry

We propose a minimally extended gauge symmetry model with $U(1)_R$, where only the right-handed fermions have nonzero charges in the fermion sector. To achieve both anomaly cancellations and minimality, three right-handed neutrinos are naturally required, and the standard model Higgs has to have nonzero charge under this symmetry. Then we find that its breaking scale($Λ$) is restricted by precise measurement of neutral gauge boson in the standard model; therefore, ${\cal O}$(10) TeV$\lesssim Λ$. We also discuss its testability of the new gauge boson and discrimination of $U(1)_R$ model from $U(1)_{B-L}$ one at collider physics such as LHC and ILC.

Penguin $b \to s\ell'^+ \ell'^-$ and $B$-meson anomalies in a gauged ${L_μ-L_τ}$

The $Z'$-gauge boson in an $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ gauge symmetry has two interesting features: one is its vector couplings to the charged leptons, and the other is the decoupling from the electron. Based on these properties, we investigate the feasibility to simultaneously resolve the $R_{K^{(*)}} = BR(B\to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-)/BR(B\to K^{(*)} e^+ e^-)$ and $R_{D^{(*)}} = BR(\bar B\to D^{(*)} τ\barν_τ)/BR(\bar B\to D^{(*)} \ell \barν_\ell)$ anomalies in an $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model, where the former is expected to arise from the $Z'$-penguin-induced $b\to s μ^+ μ^-$ process and the latter from the tree-level $b\to c τ\barν_τ$ decay. In order to achieve the intended purpose, we employ one vector-like doublet lepton and one singlet scalar leptoquark (LQ), in which the new particles all carry the $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ charges; the $b\to sZ'$ effective interaction is generated from the vector-like lepton and LQ loop, and the $b\to c τ\barν_τ$ decay is induced from the LQ. When the constraints from the $b\to s γ$, $B^+\to K^+ ν\barν$, $B^-_c\to τ\bar ν_τ$, $ΔF=2$, and $τ\to μ\ell \bar \ell$ processes are included, it is found that $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ can be enhanced to fit the experimental data, and the Wilson coefficient $C_9$ from the LQ-loop can reach $C^{LQ,μ}_9\sim -1$, which can explain the $R_{K}$ and $R_{K^*}$ anomalies. In addition, in this simple model, the Higgs lepton-flavor violating $h\to μτ$ decay can occur at the tree level, and its branching ratio can be as large as the current experimental upper limit.

Radiative seesaw models linking to dark matter candidates inspired by the DAMPE excess

We propose two possibilities to explain an excess of electron/positron flux around 1.4 TeV recently reported by Dark Matter Explore (DAMPE) in the framework of radiative seesaw models where one of them provides a fermionic dark matter candidate, and the other one provides a bosonic dark matter candidate. We also show unique features of both models regarding neutrino mass structure.

$L_μ-L_τ$ gauge-boson production from lepton flavor violating $τ$ decays at Belle II

$L_μ-L_τ$ gauge boson ($Z'$) with a mass in the MeV to GeV region can resolve not only the muon $g-2$ excess, but also the gap in the high-energy cosmic neutrino spectrum at IceCube. It was recently proposed that such a light gauge boson can be detected during the Belle II experiment with a luminosity of 50 ab$^{-1}$ by the $e^+ e^- \to γ+\slashed{E}$ process through the kinetic mixing with the photon, where the missing energy $\slashed{E}$ is from the $Z' \to \barνν$ decays. We study the phenomenological implications when a pair of singlet vector-like leptons carrying different $L_μ- L_τ$ charges are included, and a complex singlet scalar ($ϕ_S$) is introduced to accomplish the spontaneous $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ symmetry breaking. It is found that the extension leads to several phenomena of interest, including (i) branching ratio (BR) for $h\to μτ$ can be of the order of $10^{-3}$; (ii) $ϕ_S$-mediated muon $g-2$ can be of the order of $10\times 10^{-10}$; (iii) BR for $τ\to μϕ^*_S\to μZ'Z'$ can be $10^{-8}$, and (iv) kinetic mixing between the $Z'$ boson and photon is sensitive to the relative heavy lepton masses. The predicted BRs for $τ\to (3μ+\slashed{E}, 5μ$) through the leptonic $Z'$ decays can reach a level of $10^{-9}$, in which the results fall within the sensitivity of the Belle II in the search for the rare tau decays.

Neutrino mass with large $SU(2)_L$ multiplet fields

We propose an extension of the standard model introducing large $SU(2)_L$ multiplet fields which are quartet and septet scalars and quintet Majorana fermions. These multiplets can induce the neutrino masses via interactions with the $SU(2)$ doublet leptons. We then find the neutrino masses are suppressed by small vacuum expectation value of the quartet/septet and an inverse of quintet fermion mass relaxing the Yukawa hierarchies among the standard model fermions. We also discuss collider physics at the Large Hadron Collider considering production of charged particles in these multiplets, and due to effects of violating custodial symmetry, some specific signatures can be found. Then we discuss the detectability of these signals.

Excesses of muon $g-2$, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$, and $R_K$ in a leptoquark model

In this study, we investigate muon $g-2$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$, and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies in a specific model with one doublet, one triplet, and one singlet scalar leptoquark (LQ). When the strict limits from the $\ell' \to \ell γ$, $ΔB=2$, $B_{s}\to μ^+ μ^-$, and $B^+ \to K^+ ν\barν$ processes are considered, it is difficult to use one scalar LQ to explain all of the anomalies due to the strong correlations among the constraints and observables. After ignoring the constraints and small couplings, the muon $g-2$ can be explained by the doublet LQ alone due to the $m_t$ enhancement, whereas the measured and unexpected smaller $R_{K^{(*)}}$ requires the combined effects of the doublet and triplet LQs, and the $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ excesses depend on the singlet LQ through scalar- and tensor-type interactions.

Loop induced type-II seesaw model and GeV dark matter with $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry

We propose a model with $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry and several new fermions in no conflict with anomaly cancellation where the neutrino masses are given by the vacuum expectation value of Higgs triplet induced at the one-loop level. The new fermions are odd under discrete $Z_2$ symmetry and the lightest one becomes dark matter candidate. We find that the mass of dark matter is typically $O(1)$-$O(10)$ GeV. Then relic density of the dark matter is discussed.

Light flavon signals at electron - photon colliders

Flavor symmetries are useful to realize fermion flavor structures in the standard model. In particular, discrete $A_4$ symmetry is used to realize lepton flavor structures, and some scalars which are called flavon are introduced to break this symmetry. In many models, flavons are assumed to be much heavier than the electroweak scale. However, our previous work showed that flavon mass around 100 GeV is allowed by experimental constraints in the $A_4$ symmetric model with residual $Z_3$ symmetry. In this paper, we discuss collider search of such a light flavon $φ_T$. We find that an electron - photon collision, as a considerable option at the international linear collider, has advantages to search for the signals. At the electron - photon collider flavons are produced as $e^-γ\to l^- φ_T$ and decay into two charged leptons. Then we analyze signals of flavor-conserving final-state $τ^+ τ^- e^-$, and flavor-violating final-states $τ^+ μ^- μ^-$ and $μ^+ τ^- τ^-$ by carrying out numerical simulation. For the former final-state, SM background can be strongly suppressed by imposing cuts on the invariant masses of final-state leptons. For the later final-states, SM background is extremely small, because in the SM there are no such flavor-violating final-states. We then find that sufficient discovery significance can be obtained, even if flavons are heavier than the lower limits from flavor physics.

Charged-Higgs on $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $τ$ polarization, and FBA

We study the influence of a charged-Higgs on the excess of branching fraction ratio, $R_M = BR(\bar B \to M τ\barν_τ)/BR(\bar B \to M \ell \bar ν_\ell)$ $(M=D, D^*)$, in a generic two-Higgs-doublet model. In order to investigate the lepton polarization, the detailed decay amplitudes with lepton helicity are given. When the charged-Higgs is used to resolve excesses, it is found that two independent Yukawa couplings are needed to explain the $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ anomalies. We show that when the upper limit of $BR(B_c \to τ\bar ν_τ)<30\%$ is included, $R_D$ can be significantly enhanced while $R_{D^*}<0.27$. With the $BR(B_c\to τ\bar ν_τ)$ constraint, we find that the $τ$-lepton polarizations can be still affected by the charged-Higgs effects, where the standard model (SM) predictions are obtained as: $P^τ_{D} \approx 0.324$ and $P^τ_{D^*}\approx -0.500$, and they can be enhanced to be $P^τ_{D} \approx 0.5$ and $P^τ_{D^*} \approx -0.41$ by the charged-Higgs. The integrated lepton froward-backward asymmetry (FBA) is also studied, where the SM result is $\bar A^{D^{(*)},τ}_{FB} \approx -0.359(0.064)$, and they can be enhanced (decreased) to be $\bar A^{D^{(*)},τ}_{FB} \approx -0.33 (0.02)$.

Generation of radiative neutrino mass in the linear seesaw framework, charged lepton flavor violation and dark matter

We investigate a model with local U(1)$_{B-L}$ and discrete $Z_2$ symmetries where two types of weak isospin singlet neutrinos, vector-like charged lepton and exotic scalar fields are introduced. The linear seesaw mechanism is induced at one-loop level through Yukawa interactions associated with the standard model leptons and exotic fields. We also discuss lepton flavor violation and muon anomalous dipole magnetic moment induced by the new Yukawa interaction. In addition, our model has dark matter candidate which is the lightest $Z_2$ odd neutral particle. We calculate the relic density and constraints from direct detection.

A flavor dependent gauge symmetry, Predictive radiative seesaw and LHCb anomalies

We propose a predictive radiative seesaw model at one-loop level with a flavor dependent gauge symmetry $U(1)_{xB_3-xe-μ+τ}$ and Majorana fermion dark matter. For the neutrino mass matrix, we obtain an $A_1$ type texture (with two zeros) that provides us several predictions such as the normal ordering for the neutrino masses. We analyze the constraints from lepton flavor violations, relic density of dark matter, and collider physics for the new $U(1)_{xB_3-xe-μ+τ}$ gauge boson. Within the allowed region, the LHCb anomalies in $B\rightarrow K^* μ^+ μ^-$ and $B\rightarrow K \ell^+ \ell^-$ with $\ell=e$ or $μ$ can be resolved, and such $Z'$ could be also observed at the LHC.

Loop suppressed light fermion masses with $U(1)_R$ gauge symmetry

We propose a model with two Higgs doublet where quark and charged-lepton masses in the first and second families are induced at one-loop level, and neutrino masses are induced at the two-loop level. In our model we introduce an extra $U(1)_R$ gauge symmetry that plays a crucial role in achieving desired terms in no conflict with anomaly cancellation. We show the mechanism to generate fermion masses, the resultant mass matrices and Yukawa interactions in mass eigenstates, and discuss several interesting phenomenologies such as muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment and dark matter candidate that are arisen from this model.

Gauged Lepton Symmetry Model

We study a model with $U(1)$ gauged lepton number symmetry in which the active neutrino masses are generated at two-loop level through the spontaneous breaking of the lepton number symmetry. To cancel gauge anomalies some exotic leptons are introduced that also play an important role in generating neutrino masses and the lightest neutral one can be a dark matter candidate. We discuss a phenomenology of the neutral fermion sector including dark matter, lepton flavor violations, and an extra neutral gauge boson $Z'$ that can be tested by $e^+ e^-$ collision at the International Linear Collider (ILC).

Explaining $B\to K^{(*)}\ell^+ \ell^-$ anomaly by radiatively induced coupling in $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauge symmetry

We propose an extension of the standard model (SM) with $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauge symmetry, extra vectorlike quark doublets $Q'_a$ and singlet scalar $χ$, both of which are charged under $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ and carry {odd} dark $Z_2$ parity. Then assuming that $χ$ is the dark matter (DM) of the universe and imposing various constraints from dark matter search, flavor physics and collider search for $Q'_a$, one can show that radiative corrections to $b\rightarrow s Z^{'*} \rightarrow s l^+ l^- $ involving $Q'_a$ and $χ$ can induce $ΔC_9 \sim -1$ which can resolve the LHCb anomalies related with $B\to K^{(*)} \ell^+ \ell^-$. Therefore both DM and $B$ physics anomalies could be accommodated in the model.

A four-loop Radiative Seesaw Model

We propose a new type of radiative neutrino model with global hidden $U(1)$ symmetry, in which neutrino masses are induced at the four loop level. Then we discuss the muon anomalous magnetic moment to solve the discrepancy between observation and the standard model prediction, and estimate the relic density of a fermion or boson DM candidate in the model. We also discuss the diphoton resonance $R$ by considering a process $pp \to R \to γγ$ as a possible signal of our model.

Dark matter physics in neutrino specific two Higgs doublet model

Although the seesaw mechanism is a natural explanation for the small neutrino masses, there are cases when the Majorana mass terms for the right-handed neutrinos are not allowed due to symmetry. In that case, if neutrino-specific Higgs doublet is introduced, neutrinos become Dirac particles and their small masses can be explained by its small VEV. We show that the same symmetry, which we assume a global $U(1)_X$, can also be used to explain the stability of dark matter. In our model, a new singlet scalar breaks the global symmetry spontaneously down to a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. The dark matter particle, lightest $Z_2$-odd fermion, is stabilized. We discuss the phenomenology of dark matter: relic density, direct detection, and indirect detection. We find that the relic density can be explained by a novel Goldstone boson channel or by resonance channel. In the most region of parameter space considered, the direct detections is suppressed well below the current experimental bound. Our model can be further tested in indirect detection experiments such as FermiLAT gamma ray searches or neutrinoless double beta decay experiments.
