Addenda to General Spin Precession and Betatron Oscillation in Storage Ring

We give the geralized expression of spin precession of extended bunch particles having both anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments in storage ring in higher order than the previous work and in the presence of ${\bf E}$ field as well as ${\bf B}$ field. These addenda are essential since some experiments consider the focusing field in the second order of the beam extent and in the presence of both ${\bf B}$ and ${\bf E}$ fields . It is shown that some focusing fields with constant magnitude of the velocity considered in many literatures lead to the violation of self consistency.

General Spin Precession and Betatron Oscillation in Storage Ring

We give the geralized expression of spin precession of extended bunch particles having both anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments in storage ring. The transversal betatron oscillation formula of the bunch is also given. The latter is the generalization of the Farley's pitch correction \cite{Farley}, including radial oscillation as well as vertical one. Some useful formulae for muon storage ring are discussed in appendix.

Simple mass matrices of neutrinos and quarks consistent with observed mixings and masses

We propose a simple phenomenological model of quarks-leptons mass matrices having fundamentally universal symmetry structure. These mass matrices consist of democratic and semi-democratic mass matrix terms commonly to the neutrino and the quark sectors and have only eight free parameters. We show that this mass matrix model well reproduces all the observed values of the MNS lepton and the CKM quark mixing angles, the neutrino mass squared difference ratio, and quark mass ratios, with an excellent agreement. The model also predicts $δ_{CP}^\ell =-94^\circ$ for the leptonic $CP$ violating phase and $\langle m\rangle\simeq 0.0073$ eV for the effective Majorana neutrino mass.

Anapole moment of a chiral molecule revisited

Parity violation in a chiral, four-atom molecule is discussed. Given the geometrical positions of the four atoms, we calculate the anapole moment of it. This problem was first discussed by Khriplovich and Pospelov. We give a detailed derivation for it so that it can be more accessible to wider range of scientists. We correct errors in their results and generalize their initial state to |s_{1/2}\rangle and |p_{1/2}\rangle states. We also discuss realistic candidates of the chiral molecules to which this approach can be applied.

Simple neutrino mass matrix with only two free parameters

A simple form of neutrino mass matrix which has only two free parameters is proposed from a phenomenological point of view. Using this mass matrix, we succeed to reproduce all the observed values for the MNS lepton mixing angles and the neutrino mass squared difference ratio. Our model also predicts $δ_ν= 155^\circ$ for the Dirac CP violating phase in the lepton sector and the effective neutrino mass $\langle m \rangle=6.3\times 10^{-3}$ eV in the neutrinoless double beta decay.

Chiral Molecule in the Standard Model

This review is based on the talk in the conference of "Spectroscopic Studies on Molecular Chirality" held on Dec 20-21 2013. The objects of the present paper are to (1) derive the energy difference between Laevorotatory, or left-handed, (L-) and Dextrotatory, or right-handed, (D-) molecules and to (2) discuss how this tiny energy difference leads us to the observed enantiomer excess. Relations with other parity violating phenomena in molecules, electric dipole moment and natural optical activity, are also discussed.

Model independent constraints of the averaged neutrino masses revisited

Averaged neutrino masses defined by $\la m_ν\ra_{ab} \equiv\left| \sum_{j=1}^{3}U_{aj}U_{bj}m_j\right|$ ($a,b=e,μ,τ$) are reanalyzed using up-to-date observed MNS parameters and neutrino masses by the neutrino oscillation experiments together with the cosmological constraint on neutrino masses. The values of $\la m_ν\ra_{ab}$ are model-independently evaluated in terms of effective neutrino mass defined by $\overline{m_ν}\equiv\left(\sum |U_{ej}|^2m_j^2\right)^{1/2}$ which is observable in the single beta decay. We obtain lower bound for $\langle m_ν\rangle_{ee}$ in the inverted hierarchy(IH) case, $17~\mbox{meV} \leq \langle m_ν\rangle_{ee}$ and one for $\langle m_ν\rangle_{τμ}$ in the normal hierarchy(NH) case, $5~\mbox{meV}\leq \langle m_ν\rangle_{τμ}$. We also obtain that all the averaged masses $\la m_ν\ra_{ab}$ have upper bounds which are at most $80~\mbox{meV}$.

Hierarchical masses and universal mixing in quark-lepton mass matrices

The universality hypothesis for quark and lepton mixing matrices (CKM and MNS) is further developed. This hypothesis explains why the CKM is almost diagonal whereas the MNS is almost maximally mixed. If this hypothesis is true, the Dirac CP violating phase of the MNS mixing matrix is bounded around $π$ or 0. Quark-lepton mass matrices which realizes this hypothesis are constructed, showing simple power law relations among mass matrices for up-type, down-type quarks and neutrinos.

Searching for New Physics beyond the Standard Model in Electric Dipole Moment

This is a theoretical review of exploration of new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in electric dipole moment (EDM) in elementary particles, atoms, and molecule. EDM is a very important CP violating phenomenon and sensitive to new physics. Starting with the estimations of EDM of quarks-leptons in the SM, we explore the new signals beyond the SM. However, these works drive us to more wide fronteers where we serach fundamental physics using atoms and molecules and vice versa. Paramagnetic atoms and molecules have great enhancement factor on electron EDM. Diamagnetic atoms and molecules are very sensitive to nuclear P and T odd processes. Thus the EDM becomes the key word not only of New Physics but also of unprecedented fruitful collaboration among particle, atomic. molecular physics. This review intends to help such collaboration over the wide range of physicists.

Universality of Quark-Lepton Mass Matrix

The recently observed lepton mixing angle $θ_{13}$ of the MNS mixing matrix is well incorporated in a universal mixing hypothesis between quark and lepton sectors. This hypothesis asserts that, in the charged lepton diagonal base, all other mass matrices for up- and down-type quarks and light neutrinos are diagonalized by the same unitary matrix except for the phase elements. It is expressed as $V_{CKM}= U_{MNS}(δ^\prime)^\dagger P U_{MNS}(δ)$ for quark mixing matrix $V_{CKM}$ and lepton mixing matrix $U_{MNS}(δ)$ in the phenomenological level. Here $P$ is a diagonal phase mass matrix. $δ^\prime$ is a slightly different phase parameter from the Dirac CP violating phase $δ=1.1π$ (best fit) in the MNS lepton mixing matrix.

SO(10) GUT in Four and Five Dimensions: A Review

We review SO(10) grand unified theories (GUTs) in four and five dimensions (4D and 5D). The renormalizable minimal SO(10) SUSY GUT is the central theme of this review. It is very predictive and makes it possible to construct all mass matrices including those of the Dirac and heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos. So it is not only able to reproduce all the low energy data, except for too larger $θ_{13}$ in the lepton mixing angles (which can be evaded without spoiling the basic ingredients), but also predicts almost all new physics beyond the standard model (SM) like neutrinoless double beta decay, the electric and magnetic dipole moments of the quark-lepton, lepton flavour violation, leptogenesis etc. To be very predictive, on the other hand, implies that predictions are unambiguous and they are always exposed to severe compatibilities with observations as well as to a conceptual consistency check. The explicit construction of the Higgs superpotential and the explicit display of a symmetry breaking pattern from GUT to the SM show that the naive desert from the SM to GUT in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) is a too simplified concept and we have many definitely determined intermediate energy scales in general. (The details should be referred to pdf.)

Toda Molecule and Tomimatsu-Sato Solution $\sim$ Towards the complete proof of Nakamura's conjecture$\sim$

We discuss the Nakamura's conjecture stating that the Tomimatsu-Sato black hole solution with integer deformation parameter $n$ is composed of the special solutions of the Toda molecule equation at the $n$-th lattice site. From the previous work, in which the conjecture was partly analytically proved, we go further towards final full proof by rearranging the rotation parameter. The proof is explicitly performed for the highest and lowest orders. Though the proof for all orders remains still unsolved, the prospect to the full proof becomes transparent and workable by our method.

Recent MEG Results and Predictive SO(10) Models

Recent MEG results of a search for the lepton flavor violating (LFV) muon decay, $μ\to e γ$, show 3 events as the best value for the number of signals in the maximally likelihood fit. Although this result is still far from the evidence/discovery in statistical point of view, it might be a sign of a certain new physics beyond the Standard Model. As has been well-known, supersymmetric (SUSY) models can generate the $μ\to e γ$ decay rate within the search reach of the MEG experiment. A certain class of SUSY grand unified theory (GUT) models such as the minimal SUSY SO(10) model (we call this class of models "predictive SO(10) models") can unambiguously determine fermion Yukawa coupling matrices, in particular, the neutrino Dirac Yukawa matrix. Based on the universal boundary conditions for soft SUSY breaking parameters at the GUT scale, we calculate the rate of the $μ\to e γ$ process by using the completely determined Dirac Yukawa matrix in two examples of predictive SO(10) models. If we interpret the 3 events in MEG experiment as a positive signal and combine it with other experimental constraints such as the relic density of the neutralino dark matter and recent results on muon $g-2$, we can pin down a parameter set of the universal boundary conditions. Then, we propose benchmark sparticle mass spectra for each predictive SO(10) model, which will be tested at the Large Hadronic Collider.

Phenomenology in the Zee Model with the A_4 Symmetry

The Zee model generates neutrino masses at the one-loop level by adding charged SU(2)_L-singlet and extra SU(2)_L-doublet scalars to the standard model of particle physics. As the origin of the nontrivial structure of the lepton flavor mixing, we introduce the softly broken A_4 symmetry to the Zee model. This model is compatible with the tribimaximal mixing which agrees well with neutrino oscillation measurements. Then, a sum rule m_1 e^{i alpha_12} + 2 m_2 + 3 m_3 e^{i alpha_32} = 0 is obtained and it results in Delta m^2_31 < 0 and m_3 > 1.8*10^{-2}eV. The effective mass |(M_nu)_{ee}| for the neutrinoless double beta decay is predicted as | (M_ν)_{ee} | > 1.7*10^{-2}eV. The characteristic particles in this model are SU(2)_L-singlet charged Higgs bosons s^+_alpha (alpha=xi,eta, zeta) which are made from a 3-representation of A_4. Contributions of s^+_alpha to the lepton flavor violating decays of charged leptons are almost forbidden by an approximately remaining Z_3 symmetry; only BR(tau to ebar mu mu) can be sizable by the flavor changing neutral current interaction with SU(2)_L-doublet scalars. Therefore, s^+_alpha can be easily light enough to be discovered at the LHC with satisfying current constraints. The flavor structures of BR(s^-_alpha to ell nu) are also discussed.

Universal Mass Matrix and Leptonic $θ_{13}$ Angle

We propose a universal mixing hypothesis between quark and lepton sectors at high energy scale (probably GUT scale) where quark-lepton universality holds. Namely in the charged lepton diagonal base, all the other mass matrices for up and down quarks and neutrinos are diagonalized by the same unitary matrix except for the phase elements. Thanks to this hypothesis, the observed values of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark mixing matrix and the mixing angles $θ_{12}$ and $θ_{23}$ in the Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (MNS) lepton mixing matrix can predict the unknown magnitudes of the mixing angle $θ_{13}$ and of the CP violating Dirac phase $δ$ in the MNS matrix. Their allowed regions are rather narrow, $0.036<{sin}θ_{13}<0.048$ and $6^\circ<δ<12^\circ$.
