Algebraic aspects of the correlation functions of the integrable higher-spin XXZ spin chains with arbitrary entries

We discuss some fundamental properties of the XXZ spin chain, which are important in the algebraic Bethe-ansatz derivation for the multiple-integral representations of the spin-s XXZ correlation function with an arbitrary product of elementary matrices. For instance, we construct Hermitian conjugate vectors in the massless regime and introduce the spin-s Hermitian elementary matrices.

Correlation functions of the integrable higher-spin XXX and XXZ spin chains through the fusion method

For the integrable higher-spin XXX and XXZ spin chains we present multiple-integral representations for the correlation function of an arbitrary product of Hermitian elementary matrices in the massless ground state. We give a formula expressing it by a single term of multiple integrals. In particular, we explicitly derive the emptiness formation probability (EFP). We assume $2s$-strings for the ground-state solution of the Bethe ansatz equations for the spin-$s$ XXZ chain, and solve the integral equations for the spin-$s$ Gaudin matrix. In terms of the XXZ coupling $Δ$ we define $ζ$ by $Δ=\cos ζ$, and put it in a region $0 \le ζ< π/2s$ of the gapless regime: $-1 < Δ\le 1$ ($0 \le ζ< π$), where $Δ=1$ ($ζ=0$) corresponds to the antiferromagnetic point. We calculate the zero-temperature correlation functions by the algebraic Bethe ansatz, introducing the Hermitian elementary matrices in the massless regime, and taking advantage of the fusion construction of the $R$-matrix of the higher-spin representations of the affine quantum group.

Exactly Solvable Quasi-hermitian Transverse Ising Model

A non-hermitian deformation of the one-dimensional transverse Ising model is shown to have the property of quasi-hermiticity. The transverse Ising chain is obtained from the starting non-hermitian Hamiltonian through a similarity transformation. Consequently, both the models have identical eigen-spectra, although the eigen-functions are different. The metric in the Hilbert space, which makes the non-hermitian model unitary and ensures the completeness of states, has been constructed explicitly. Although the longitudinal correlation functions are identical for both the non-hermitian and the hermitian Ising models, the difference shows up in the transverse correlation functions, which have been calculated explicitly and are not always real. A proper set of hermitian spin operators in the Hilbert space of the non-hermitian Hamiltonian has been identified, in terms of which all the correlation functions of the non-hermitian Hamiltonian become real and identical to that of the standard transverse Ising model. Comments on the quantum phase transitions in the non-hermitian model have been made.

Level statistics of a pseudo-Hermitian Dicke model

A non-Hermitian operator that is related to its adjoint through a similarity transformation is defined as a pseudo-Hermitian operator. We study the level-statistics of a pseudo-Hermitian Dicke Hamiltonian that undergoes Quantum Phase Transition (QPT). We find that the level-spacing distribution of this Hamiltonian near the integrable limit is close to Poisson distribution, while it is Wigner distribution for the ranges of the parameters for which the Hamiltonian is non-integrable. We show that the assertion in the context of the standard Dicke model that QPT is a precursor to a change in the level statistics is not valid in general.

Quantum Phase Transition in a Pseudo-hermitian Dicke model

We show that a Dicke-type pseudo-hermitian Hamiltonian undergoes quantum phase transition by mapping it to the "Dressed Dicke Model" through a similarity transformation. We find the positive-definite metric in the Hilbert space of the pseudo-hermitian Hamiltonian so that it is unitary and allows a consistent quantum description. Further, we obtain the limit in which the pseudo-hermitian Hamiltonian is exactly solvable.

An algebraic derivation of the eigenspaces associated with an Ising-like spectrum of the superintegrable chiral Potts model

In terms of the $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ loop algebra and the algebraic Bethe-ansatz method, we derive the invariant subspace associated with a given Ising-like spectrum consisting of $2^{r}$ eigenvalues of the diagonal-to-diagonal transfer matrix of the superintegrable chiral Potts (SCP) model with arbitrary inhomogeneous parameters. We show that every regular Bethe eigenstate of the $τ_2$-model leads to an Ising-like spectrum and is an eigenvector of the SCP transfer matrix which is given by the product of two diagonal-to-diagonal transfer matrices with a constraint on the spectral parameters. We also show in a sector that the $τ_2$-model commutes with the $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ loop algebra, $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$, and every regular Bethe state of the $τ_2$-model is of highest weight. Thus, from physical assumptions such as the completeness of the Bethe ansatz, it follows in the sector that every regular Bethe state of the $τ_2$-model generates an $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$-degenerate eigenspace and it gives the invariant subspace, i.e. the direct sum of the eigenspaces associated with the Ising-like spectrum.

Universality in the diffusion of knots

We have evaluated a universal ratio between diffusion constants of the ring polymer with a given knot $K$ and a linear polymer with the same molecular weight in solution through the Brownian dynamics under hydrodynamic interaction. The ratio is found to be constant with respect to the number of monomers, $N$, and hence the estimate at some $N$ should be valid practically over a wide range of $N$ for various polymer models. Interestingly, the ratio is determined by the average crossing number ($N_{AC}$) of an ideal conformation of knotted curve $K$, i.e. that of the ideal knot. The $N_{AC}$ of ideal knots should therefore be fundamental in the dynamics of knots.

Form factors of integrable higher-spin XXZ chains and the affine quantum-group symmetry

We derive exactly scalar products and form factors for integrable higher-spin XXZ chains through the algebraic Bethe-ansatz method. Here spin values are arbitrary and different spins can be mixed. We show the affine quantum-group symmetry, $U_q(\hat{sl_2})$, for the monodromy matrix of the XXZ spin chain, and then obtain the exact expressions. Furthermore, through the quantum-group symmetry we explicitly derive the diagonalized forms of the $B$ and $C$ operators in the $F$-basis for the spin-1/2 XXZ spin chain, which was conjectured in the algebraic Bethe-ansatz calculation of the XXZ correlation functions. The results should be fundamental in studying form factors and correlation functions systematically for various solvable models associated with the integrable XXZ spin chains.

Diffusion of a ring polymer in good solution via the Brownian dynamics

Diffusion constants D_{R} and D_{L} of ring and linear polymers of the same molecular weight in a good solvent, respectively, have been evaluated through the Brownian dynamics with hydrodynamic interaction. The ratio $C=D_{R}/D_{L}$, which should be universal in the context of the renormalization group, has been estimated as $C= 1.11 \pm 0.01$ for the large-N limit. It should be consistent with that of synthetic polymers, while it is smaller than that of DNAs such as $C \approx 1.3$. Furthermore, the probability of the ring polymer being a nontrivial knot is found to be very small, while bond crossings may occur at almost all time steps in the present simulation that realizes the good solvent conditions.

Extension of a Borel subalgebra symmetry into the sl(2) loop algebra symmetry for the twisted XXZ spin chain at roots of unity and the Onsager algebra

We discuss a conjecture that the twisted transfer matrix of the six-vertex model at roots of unity with some discrete twist angles should have the sl(2) loop algebra symmetry. As an evidence of this conjecture, we show the following mathematical result on a subalgebra of the sl(2) loop algebra, which we call a Borel subalgebra: any given finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the Borel subalgebra is extended into that of the sl(2) loop algebra, if the parameters associated with it are nonzero. Thus, if operators commuting or anti-commuting with the twisted transfer matrix of the six-vertex model at roots of unity generate the Borel subalgebra, then they also generate the sl(2) loop algebra. The result should be useful for studying the connection of the sl(2) loop algebra symmetry to the Onsager algebra symmetry of the superintegrable chiral Potts model.

Irreducibility criterion for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the sl(2) loop algebra and the dimensions of reducible representations

We present a necessary and sufficient condition for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the $sl_2$ loop algebra to be irreducible. In particular, for a highest weight representation with degenerate parameters of the highest weight, we can explicitly determine whether it is irreducible or not. We also present an algorithm for constructing finite-dimensional highest weight representations with a given highest weight. We give a conjecture that all the highest weight representations with the same highest weight can be constructed by the algorithm. For some examples we show the conjecture explicitly. The result should be useful in analyzing the spectra of integrable lattice models related to roots of unity representations of quantum groups, in particular, the spectral degeneracy of the XXZ spin chain at roots of unity associated with the $sl_2$ loop algebra.

XXZ Bethe states as highest weight vectors of the $sl_2$ loop algebra at roots of unity

We show that every regular Bethe ansatz eigenvector of the XXZ spin chain at roots of unity is a highest weight vector of the $sl_2$ loop algebra, for some restricted sectors with respect to eigenvalues of the total spin operator $S^Z$, and evaluate explicitly the highest weight in terms of the Bethe roots. We also discuss whether a given regular Bethe state in the sectors generates an irreducible representation or not. In fact, we present such a regular Bethe state in the inhomogeneous case that generates a reducible Weyl module. Here, we call a solution of the Bethe ansatz equations which is given by a set of distinct and finite rapidities {\it regular Bethe roots}. We call a nonzero Bethe ansatz eigenvector with regular Bethe roots a {\it regular Bethe state}.

Generalized Drinfeld polynomials for highest weight vectors of the Borel subalgebra of the $sl_2$ loop algebra

In a Borel subalgebra U(B) of the sl(2) loop algebra, we introduce a highest weight vector $Ψ$. We call such a representation of U(B) that is generated by $Ψ$ highest weight. We define a generalization of the Drinfeld polynomial for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of U(B). We show that every finite-dimensional highest weight representation of the Borel subalgebra is irreducible if the evaluation parameters are distinct. We also discuss the necessary and sufficient conditions for a finite-dimensional highest weight representation of U(B) to be irreducible.

The six-vertex model at roots of unity and some highest weight representations of the sl(2) loop algebra

We discuss irreducible highest weight representations of the sl(2) loop algebra and reducible indecomposable ones in association with the sl(2) loop algebra symmetry of the six-vertex model at roots of unity. We formulate an elementary proof that every highest weight representation with distinct evaluation parameters is irreducible. We present a general criteria for a highest weight representation to be irreducble. We also give an example of a reducible indecomposable highest weight representation and discuss its dimensionality.

On the Degenerate Multiplicity of the $sl_2$ Loop Algebra for the 6V Transfer Matrix at Roots of Unity

We review the main result of cond-mat/0503564. The Hamiltonian of the XXZ spin chain and the transfer matrix of the six-vertex model has the $sl_2$ loop algebra symmetry if the $q$ parameter is given by a root of unity, $q_0^{2N}=1$, for an integer $N$. We discuss the dimensions of the degenerate eigenspace generated by a regular Bethe state in some sectors, rigorously as follows: We show that every regular Bethe ansatz eigenvector in the sectors is a highest weight vector and derive the highest weight ${\bar d}_k^{\pm}$, which leads to evaluation parameters $a_j$. If the evaluation parameters are distinct, we obtain the dimensions of the highest weight representation generated by the regular Bethe state.

Level Statistics of XXZ Spin Chains with Discrete Symmetries: Analysis through Finite-size Effects

Level statistics is discussed for XXZ spin chains with discrete symmetries for some values of the next-nearest-neighbor (NNN) coupling parameter. We show how the level statistics of the finite-size systems depends on the NNN coupling and the XXZ anisotropy, which should reflect competition among quantum chaos, integrability and finite-size effects. Here discrete symmetries play a central role in our analysis. Evaluating the level-spacing distribution, the spectral rigidity and the number variance, we confirm the correspondence between non-integrability and Wigner behavior in the spectrum. We also show that non-Wigner behavior appears due to mixed symmetries and finite-size effects in some nonintegrable cases.

Scattering functions of knotted ring polymers

We discuss the scattering function of a Gaussian random polygon with N nodes under a given topological constraint through simulation. We obtain the Kratky plot of a Gaussian polygon of N=200 having a fixed knot for some different knots such as the trivial, trefoil and figure-eight knots. We find that some characteristic properties of the different Kratky plots are consistent with the distinct values of the mean square radius of gyration for Gaussian polygons with the different knots.
