DUET: A Diversity-Quality Duet of Distillation Experts for Two-Step Video Generation

Diffusion models have enabled high-quality video generation in recent years, but the high cost of iterative sampling hinders their practical deployment. Few-step distillation alleviates this cost, yet exposes a quality--diversity trade-off between its two dominant paradigms: trajectory-level distillation (e.g., sCM) favors diversity, whereas distribution-level distillation (e.g., DMD) favors quality. Targeting extreme two-step video generation, we introduce DUET, which reconciles the two paradigms through a noise-level duet of experts: an sCM expert takes the high-noise step to lay out diverse structure, and a DMD expert takes the low-noise step to refine appearance detail. Since the two experts are trained independently with their native objectives, DUET sidesteps the optimization difficulties of loss-level combinations and delivers quality and diversity jointly rather than trading one for the other. We further identify the relay interface and the high-noise stage as the remaining bottlenecks, and address them with RL-guided expert adaptation, yielding DUET+. With the Wan2.1-T2V-1.3B backbone, DUET lifts the two-step quality of sCM close to the level of DMD while retaining nearly all of its structural diversity---about twice that of DMD---and DUET+ further improves overall quality while preserving this diversity advantage. Together, these results establish noise-level expert specialization as a simple, effective paradigm for reconciling diversity and quality in two-step video generation.

MIMFlow: Integrating Masked Image Modeling with Normalizing Flows for End-to-End Image Generation

Normalizing Flows (NFs) are powerful generative models capable of exact density estimation and sampling. However, their strict invertibility often forces the model to exhaust its capacity on low-level pixel details, hindering the capture of high-level semantic structures. While Masked Image Modeling (MIM) has excelled in representation learning, its integration into generative pipelines has remained largely modular and disjointed. In this paper, we propose MIMFlow, a unified end-to-end framework that jointly optimizes latent semantics, pixel reconstruction, and generative flow. By employing a VAE encoder to infer semantic latent from masked images, MIMFlow achieves a principled decoupling of the generative task: the Normalizing Flow focuses on modeling a simplified, low-frequency semantic manifold, while a specialized decoder handles high-frequency synthesis. This design effectively resolves the inherent capacity bottleneck of NFs, allowing the model to prioritize global structural coherence over redundant noise. Empirical results on ImageNet 256$\times$256 show that MIMFlow-L reaches 71.3\% linear probing accuracy and an FID of 2.50. Despite using only 128 tokens (50\% fewer than standard models), it yields a 32.8\% performance gain over similar-scale NF baselines. Our code is available at https://github.com/MCG-NJU/MIMFlow.

Rethinking Scribble-Guided Image Editing: Generalization, Instruction Adherence, and Multi-Tasking

Scribble-guided image editing allows users to combine simple scribble annotations with text prompts to specify both where and how an image should be edited, enabling flexible interaction with precise spatial control. However, existing models still exhibit unstable performance under this paradigm, especially in multi-task scenarios. To improve performance, we conduct empirical studies using an open-source editing model and reveal an asymmetry in generalization: instruction-level generalization, including across editing tasks and from single-task to multi-task settings, is more challenging than image-domain generalization, such as from synthetic to real-world images or from mosaicked to regular images. This suggests that the primary bottleneck lies in insufficient learning for diverse editing instructions rather than in the image domain gap. Motivated by this insight, we propose three strategies: (a) a Coverage-then-Realism Curriculum, a two-stage pipeline that first builds large-scale synthetic, instruction-rich data for broad task supervision, then curates a small set of real-world data to refine generation realism; (b) Multi-Task Mosaicking, which constructs multi-task training samples by concatenating single-task examples at nearly zero cost while enabling the learned capability to generalize to non-mosaicked images; and (c) an Edit-Focused Loss, which leverages the changed regions between input and output images in synthetic data to focus training on edited regions, improving both learning efficiency and editing accuracy. With these strategies, we substantially improve both single-task and multi-task scribble-guided editing on the VIBE benchmark, achieving state-of-the-art results. We will publicly release our dataset and model.

Beyond Point-Wise Matching: Structural Representation Alignment for Accelerating Diffusion Transformers

Recent advances in Diffusion Transformers (DiTs) demonstrate that aligning noisy latent states with well-trained semantic features-as pioneered by Representation Alignment (REPA)-can substantially accelerate training and improve generation fidelity. Subsequent analysis(e.g., iREPA) suggests that these gains arise primarily from transferring spatial structure contained in pre-trained vision representations. However, mostly existing alignment methods employ point-wise matching objectives or rely on implicit architectural tweaks, which fail to explicitly model the spatial relational geometry inherent in vision foundation models. We argue that such element-wise supervision is insufficient to capture the rich spatial topology of visual representations, and that effective alignment for generation should instead be formulated as an explicit structural constraint. To this end, we propose sREPA, a structural REPresentation Alignment framework to enforce consistency in the relational geometry of feature maps, rather than merely matching individual feature points. By encouraging the model to internalize holistic spatial layouts and structural correlations from pre-trained features, sREPA achieves faster and more stable convergence, along with improved sample quality, compared to state-of-the-art alignment strategies. Our code and models will be released.

Edit-GRPO: A Locality-Preserving Policy Optimization Framework for Image Editing

A fundamental challenge in image editing lies in preserving spatial locality: edits should improve targeted content without inadvertently altering surrounding regions. However, most optimization-based editing approaches treat images as holistic entities, causing global policy updates that undermine locality and introduce undesired context changes. We observe that this issue stems from a mismatch between localized editing intent and globally applied optimization signals. Motivated by this insight, we propose Edit-GRPO, preserving Locality while optimizing image editing, a locality-preserving policy optimization framework that explicitly decouples editing and preservation objectives. By assigning region-specific optimization signals to edit and non-edit areas, Edit-GRPO aligns policy updates with the spatial structure of editing tasks, enabling localized improvements while maintaining global visual coherence. This design effectively suppresses common artifacts such as context distortion and boundary inconsistency. Extensive experiments across diverse image editing scenarios demonstrate that Edit-GRPO significantly improves locality preservation while maintaining strong editing performance compared to existing optimization-based methods, validating the generality and effectiveness of the proposed framework.

AdvDMD: Adversarial Reward Meets DMD For High-Quality Few-Step Generation

Diffusion models offer superior generation quality at the expense of extensive sampling steps. Distillation methods, with Distribution Matching Distillation (DMD) as a popular example, can mitigate this issue, but performance degradation remains pronounced when sampling steps are limited. Reinforcement learning (RL) has been leveraged to improve the few-step generation quality during distillation, with the potential to even surpass the performance of the teacher model. However, existing approaches are combinatorial in nature, merely integrating an RL process with the distillation process, which introduces unnecessary complexities. To address this gap, we propose AdvDMD, a method that seamlessly unifies DMD distillation and RL. Specifically, AdvDMD employs the adversarially trained discriminator from DMD2 as the reward model, which assigns low scores to generated images and high scores to real ones. It is trained on both intermediate and final states of the denoising process and updated online with the distilled model, enabling a holistic supervision of the sampling trajectories and mitigating reward hacking. We adopt a unified SDE backward simulation and a different training schedule for DMD and RL to enable a more stable and efficient training. Experimental results demonstrate that the 4-step AdvDMD outperforms the original 40-step model for SD3.5 on DPG-Bench, while achieving significant performance gains for SD3 on the GenEval. On Qwen-Image, our 2-step AdvDMD achieves superior performance over TwinFlow.

DDA-Thinker: Decoupled Dual-Atomic Reinforcement Learning for Reasoning-Driven Image Editing

Recent image editing models have achieved strong visual fidelity but often struggle with tasks requiring complex reasoning. To investigate and enhance the reasoning-grounded planning for image editing, we propose DDA-Thinker, a Thinker-centric framework designed for the independent optimization of a planning module (Thinker) over a fixed generative model (Editor). This decoupled Thinker-centric paradigm facilitates a controlled analysis of the planning module and makes its contribution under a fixed Editor easier to assess. To effectively guide this Thinker, we introduce a dual-atomic reinforcement learning framework. This framework decomposes feedback into two distinct atomic rewards implemented through verifiable checklists: a cognitive-atomic reward to directly assess the quality of the Thinker's executable plan, which serves as the actionable outcome of the Thinker's reasoning, and a visual-atomic reward to assess the final image quality. To improve checklist quality, our checklist synthesis is grounded not only in the source image and user instruction but also in a rational reference description of the ideal post-edit scene. To support this training, we further develop a two-stage data curation pipeline that first synthesizes a diverse and reasoning-focused dataset, then applies difficulty-aware refinement to curate an effective training curriculum for reinforcement learning. Extensive experiments on reasoning-driven image editing benchmarks, including RISE-Bench and KRIS-Bench, demonstrate that our approach substantially improves overall performance. Our method enables a community model to achieve results competitive with strong proprietary models, highlighting the practical potential of Thinker-centric optimization under a fixed-editor setting.

From Competition to Synergy: Unlocking Reinforcement Learning for Subject-Driven Image Generation

Subject-driven image generation models face a fundamental trade-off between identity preservation (fidelity) and prompt adherence (editability). While online reinforcement learning (RL), specifically GPRO, offers a promising solution, we find that a naive application of GRPO leads to competitive degradation, as the simple linear aggregation of rewards with static weights causes conflicting gradient signals and a misalignment with the temporal dynamics of the diffusion process. To overcome these limitations, we propose Customized-GRPO, a novel framework featuring two key innovations: (i) Synergy-Aware Reward Shaping (SARS), a non-linear mechanism that explicitly penalizes conflicted reward signals and amplifies synergistic ones, providing a sharper and more decisive gradient. (ii) Time-Aware Dynamic Weighting (TDW), which aligns the optimization pressure with the model's temporal dynamics by prioritizing prompt-following in the early, identity preservation in the later. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms naive GRPO baselines, successfully mitigating competitive degradation. Our model achieves a superior balance, generating images that both preserve key identity features and accurately adhere to complex textual prompts.

MCSC-Bench: Multimodal Context-to-Script Creation for Realistic Video Production

Real-world video creation often involves a complex reasoning workflow of selecting relevant shots from noisy materials, planning missing shots for narrative completeness, and organizing them into coherent storylines. However, existing benchmarks focus on isolated sub-tasks and lack support for evaluating this full process. To address this gap, we propose Multimodal Context-to-Script Creation (MCSC), a new task that transforms noisy multimodal inputs and user instructions into structured, executable video scripts. We further introduce MCSC-Bench, the first large-scale MCSC dataset, comprising 11K+ well-annotated videos. Each sample includes: (1) redundant multimodal materials and user instructions; (2) a coherent, production-ready script containing material-based shots, newly planned shots (with shooting instructions), and shot-aligned voiceovers. MCSC-Bench supports comprehensive evaluation across material selection, narrative planning, and conditioned script generation, and includes both in-domain and out-of-domain test sets. Experiments show that current multimodal LLMs struggle with structure-aware reasoning under long contexts, highlighting the challenges posed by our benchmark. Models trained on MCSC-Bench achieve SOTA performance, with an 8B model surpassing Gemini-2.5-Pro, and generalize to out-of-domain scenarios. Downstream video generation guided by the generated scripts further validates the practical value of MCSC. Datasets will be public soon.

GAN-based Domain Adaptation for Image-aware Layout Generation in Advertising Poster Design

Layout plays a crucial role in graphic design and poster generation. Recently, the application of deep learning models for layout generation has gained significant attention. This paper focuses on using a GAN-based model conditioned on images to generate advertising poster graphic layouts, requiring a dataset of paired product images and layouts. To address this task, we introduce the Content-aware Graphic Layout Dataset (CGL-Dataset), consisting of 60,548 paired inpainted posters with annotations and 121,000 clean product images. The inpainting artifacts introduce a domain gap between the inpainted posters and clean images. To bridge this gap, we design two GAN-based models. The first model, CGL-GAN, uses Gaussian blur on the inpainted regions to generate layouts. The second model combines unsupervised domain adaptation by introducing a GAN with a pixel-level discriminator (PD), abbreviated as PDA-GAN, to generate image-aware layouts based on the visual texture of input images. The PD is connected to shallow-level feature maps and computes the GAN loss for each input-image pixel. Additionally, we propose three novel content-aware metrics to assess the model's ability to capture the intricate relationships between graphic elements and image content. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations demonstrate that PDA-GAN achieves state-of-the-art performance and generates high-quality image-aware layouts.

Unified Thinker: A General Reasoning Modular Core for Image Generation

Despite impressive progress in high-fidelity image synthesis, generative models still struggle with logic-intensive instruction following, exposing a persistent reasoning--execution gap. Meanwhile, closed-source systems (e.g., Nano Banana) have demonstrated strong reasoning-driven image generation, highlighting a substantial gap to current open-source models. We argue that closing this gap requires not merely better visual generators, but executable reasoning: decomposing high-level intents into grounded, verifiable plans that directly steer the generative process. To this end, we propose Unified Thinker, a task-agnostic reasoning architecture for general image generation, designed as a unified planning core that can plug into diverse generators and workflows. Unified Thinker decouples a dedicated Thinker from the image Generator, enabling modular upgrades of reasoning without retraining the entire generative model. We further introduce a two-stage training paradigm: we first build a structured planning interface for the Thinker, then apply reinforcement learning to ground its policy in pixel-level feedback, encouraging plans that optimize visual correctness over textual plausibility. Extensive experiments on text-to-image generation and image editing show that Unified Thinker substantially improves image reasoning and generation quality.

Identity-Preserving Image-to-Video Generation via Reward-Guided Optimization

Recent advances in image-to-video (I2V) generation have achieved remarkable progress in synthesizing high-quality, temporally coherent videos from static images. Among all the applications of I2V, human-centric video generation includes a large portion. However, existing I2V models encounter difficulties in maintaining identity consistency between the input human image and the generated video, especially when the person in the video exhibits significant expression changes and movements. This issue becomes critical when the human face occupies merely a small fraction of the image. Since humans are highly sensitive to identity variations, this poses a critical yet under-explored challenge in I2V generation. In this paper, we propose Identity-Preserving Reward-guided Optimization (IPRO), a novel video diffusion framework based on reinforcement learning to enhance identity preservation. Instead of introducing auxiliary modules or altering model architectures, our approach introduces a direct and effective tuning algorithm that optimizes diffusion models using a face identity scorer. To improve performance and accelerate convergence, our method backpropagates the reward signal through the last steps of the sampling chain, enabling richer gradient feedback. We also propose a novel facial scoring mechanism that treats faces in ground-truth videos as facial feature pools, providing multi-angle facial information to enhance generalization. A KL-divergence regularization is further incorporated to stabilize training and prevent overfitting to the reward signal. Extensive experiments on Wan 2.2 I2V model and our in-house I2V model demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Our project and code are available at https://ipro-alimama.github.io/.

Video Echoed in Music: Semantic, Temporal, and Rhythmic Alignment for Video-to-Music Generation

Video-to-Music generation seeks to generate musically appropriate background music that enhances audiovisual immersion for videos. However, current approaches suffer from two critical limitations: 1) incomplete representation of video details, leading to weak alignment, and 2) inadequate temporal and rhythmic correspondence, particularly in achieving precise beat synchronization. To address the challenges, we propose Video Echoed in Music (VeM), a latent music diffusion that generates high-quality soundtracks with semantic, temporal, and rhythmic alignment for input videos. To capture video details comprehensively, VeM employs a hierarchical video parsing that acts as a music conductor, orchestrating multi-level information across modalities. Modality-specific encoders, coupled with a storyboard-guided cross-attention mechanism (SG-CAtt), integrate semantic cues while maintaining temporal coherence through position and duration encoding. For rhythmic precision, the frame-level transition-beat aligner and adapter (TB-As) dynamically synchronize visual scene transitions with music beats. We further contribute a novel video-music paired dataset sourced from e-commerce advertisements and video-sharing platforms, which imposes stricter transition-beat synchronization requirements. Meanwhile, we introduce novel metrics tailored to the task. Experimental results demonstrate superiority, particularly in semantic relevance and rhythmic precision.

Flowing Backwards: Improving Normalizing Flows via Reverse Representation Alignment

Normalizing Flows (NFs) are a class of generative models distinguished by a mathematically invertible architecture, where the forward pass transforms data into a latent space for density estimation, and the reverse pass generates new samples from this space. This characteristic creates an intrinsic synergy between representation learning and data generation. However, the generative quality of standard NFs is limited by poor semantic representations from log-likelihood optimization. To remedy this, we propose a novel alignment strategy that creatively leverages the invertibility of NFs: instead of regularizing the forward pass, we align the intermediate features of the generative (reverse) pass with representations from a powerful vision foundation model, demonstrating superior effectiveness over naive alignment. We also introduce a novel training-free, test-time optimization algorithm for classification, which provides a more intrinsic evaluation of the NF's embedded semantic knowledge. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our approach accelerates the training of NFs by over 3.3$\times$, while simultaneously delivering significant improvements in both generative quality and classification accuracy. New state-of-the-art results for NFs are established on ImageNet 64$\times$64 and 256$\times$256. Our code is available at https://github.com/MCG-NJU/FlowBack.

Mem-PAL: Towards Memory-based Personalized Dialogue Assistants for Long-term User-Agent Interaction

With the rise of smart personal devices, service-oriented human-agent interactions have become increasingly prevalent. This trend highlights the need for personalized dialogue assistants that can understand user-specific traits to accurately interpret requirements and tailor responses to individual preferences. However, existing approaches often overlook the complexities of long-term interactions and fail to capture users' subjective characteristics. To address these gaps, we present PAL-Bench, a new benchmark designed to evaluate the personalization capabilities of service-oriented assistants in long-term user-agent interactions. In the absence of available real-world data, we develop a multi-step LLM-based synthesis pipeline, which is further verified and refined by human annotators. This process yields PAL-Set, the first Chinese dataset comprising multi-session user logs and dialogue histories, which serves as the foundation for PAL-Bench. Furthermore, to improve personalized service-oriented interactions, we propose H$^2$Memory, a hierarchical and heterogeneous memory framework that incorporates retrieval-augmented generation to improve personalized response generation. Comprehensive experiments on both our PAL-Bench and an external dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed memory framework.

RISE-T2V: Rephrasing and Injecting Semantics with LLM for Expansive Text-to-Video Generation

Most text-to-video(T2V) diffusion models depend on pre-trained text encoders for semantic alignment, yet they often fail to maintain video quality when provided with concise prompts rather than well-designed ones. The primary issue lies in their limited textual semantics understanding. Moreover, these text encoders cannot rephrase prompts online to better align with user intentions, which limits both the scalability and usability of the models, To address these challenges, we introduce RISE-T2V, which uniquely integrates the processes of prompt rephrasing and semantic feature extraction into a single and seamless step instead of two separate steps. RISE-T2V is universal and can be applied to various pre-trained LLMs and video diffusion models(VDMs), significantly enhancing their capabilities for T2V tasks. We propose an innovative module called the Rephrasing Adapter, enabling diffusion models to utilize text hidden states during the next token prediction of the LLM as a condition for video generation. By employing a Rephrasing Adapter, the video generation model can implicitly rephrase basic prompts into more comprehensive representations that better match the user's intent. Furthermore, we leverage the powerful capabilities of LLMs to enable video generation models to accomplish a broader range of T2V tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RISE-T2V is a versatile framework applicable to different video diffusion model architectures, significantly enhancing the ability of T2V models to generate high-quality videos that align with user intent. Visual results are available on the webpage at https://rise-t2v.github.io.

VC4VG: Optimizing Video Captions for Text-to-Video Generation

Recent advances in text-to-video (T2V) generation highlight the critical role of high-quality video-text pairs in training models capable of producing coherent and instruction-aligned videos. However, strategies for optimizing video captions specifically for T2V training remain underexplored. In this paper, we introduce VC4VG (Video Captioning for Video Generation), a comprehensive caption optimization framework tailored to the needs of T2V models. We begin by analyzing caption content from a T2V perspective, decomposing the essential elements required for video reconstruction into multiple dimensions, and proposing a principled caption design methodology. To support evaluation, we construct VC4VG-Bench, a new benchmark featuring fine-grained, multi-dimensional, and necessity-graded metrics aligned with T2V-specific requirements. Extensive T2V fine-tuning experiments demonstrate a strong correlation between improved caption quality and video generation performance, validating the effectiveness of our approach. We release all benchmark tools and code at https://github.com/alimama-creative/VC4VG to support further research.

TBStar-Edit: From Image Editing Pattern Shifting to Consistency Enhancement

Recent advances in image generation and editing technologies have enabled state-of-the-art models to achieve impressive results in general domains. However, when applied to e-commerce scenarios, these general models often encounter consistency limitations. To address this challenge, we introduce TBStar-Edit, an new image editing model tailored for the e-commerce domain. Through rigorous data engineering, model architecture design and training strategy, TBStar-Edit achieves precise and high-fidelity image editing while maintaining the integrity of product appearance and layout. Specifically, for data engineering, we establish a comprehensive data construction pipeline, encompassing data collection, construction, filtering, and augmentation, to acquire high-quality, instruction-following, and strongly consistent editing data to support model training. For model architecture design, we design a hierarchical model framework consisting of a base model, pattern shifting modules, and consistency enhancement modules. For model training, we adopt a two-stage training strategy to enhance the consistency preservation: first stage for editing pattern shifting, and second stage for consistency enhancement. Each stage involves training different modules with separate datasets. Finally, we conduct extensive evaluations of TBStar-Edit on a self-proposed e-commerce benchmark, and the results demonstrate that TBStar-Edit outperforms existing general-domain editing models in both objective metrics (VIE Score) and subjective user preference.
