A new type of simplified inverse Lax-Wendroff boundary treatment I: hyperbolic conservation laws

In this paper, we design a new kind of high order inverse Lax-Wendroff (ILW) boundary treatment for solving hyperbolic conservation laws with finite difference method on a Cartesian mesh. This new ILW method decomposes the construction of ghost point values near inflow boundary into two steps: interpolation and extrapolation. At first, we impose values of some artificial auxiliary points through a polynomial interpolating the interior points near the boundary. Then, we will construct a Hermite extrapolation based on those auxiliary point values and the spatial derivatives at boundary obtained via the ILW procedure. This polynomial will give us the approximation to the ghost point value. By an appropriate selection of those artificial auxiliary points, high-order accuracy and stable results can be achieved. Moreover, theoretical analysis indicates that comparing with the original ILW method, especially for higher order accuracy, the new proposed one would require fewer terms using the relatively complicated ILW procedure and thus improve computational efficiency on the premise of maintaining accuracy and stability. We perform numerical experiments on several benchmarks, including one- and two-dimensional scalar equations and systems. The robustness and efficiency of the proposed scheme is numerically verified.

Long-lived topological time-crystalline order on a quantum processor

Topologically ordered phases of matter elude Landau's symmetry-breaking theory, featuring a variety of intriguing properties such as long-range entanglement and intrinsic robustness against local perturbations. Their extension to periodically driven systems gives rise to exotic new phenomena that are forbidden in thermal equilibrium. Here, we report the observation of signatures of such a phenomenon -- a prethermal topologically ordered time crystal -- with programmable superconducting qubits arranged on a square lattice. By periodically driving the superconducting qubits with a surface-code Hamiltonian, we observe discrete time-translation symmetry breaking dynamics that is only manifested in the subharmonic temporal response of nonlocal logical operators. We further connect the observed dynamics to the underlying topological order by measuring a nonzero topological entanglement entropy and studying its subsequent dynamics. Our results demonstrate the potential to explore exotic topologically ordered nonequilibrium phases of matter with noisy intermediate-scale quantum processors.

Enlargement of Memory Window of Si Channel FeFET by Inserting Al2O3 Interlayer on Ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2

In this work, we demonstrate the enlargement of the memory window of Si channel FeFET with ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 by gate-side dielectric interlayer engineering. By inserting an Al2O3 dielectric interlayer between TiN gate metal and ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2, we achieve a memory window of 3.2 V with endurance of ~105 cycles and retention over 10 years. The physical origin of memory window enlargement is clarified to be charge trapping at the Al2O3/Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 interface, which has an opposite charge polarity to the trapped charges at the Hf0.5Zr0.5O2/SiOx interface.

SDTracker: Synthetic Data Based Multi-Object Tracking

We present SDTracker, a method that harnesses the potential of synthetic data for multi-object tracking of real-world scenes in a domain generalization and semi-supervised fashion. First, we use the ImageNet dataset as an auxiliary to randomize the style of synthetic data. With out-of-domain data, we further enforce pyramid consistency loss across different "stylized" images from the same sample to learn domain invariant features. Second, we adopt the pseudo-labeling method to effectively utilize the unlabeled MOT17 training data. To obtain high-quality pseudo-labels, we apply proximal policy optimization (PPO2) algorithm to search confidence thresholds for each sequence. When using the unlabeled MOT17 training set, combined with the pure-motion tracking strategy upgraded via developed post-processing, we finally reach 61.4 HOTA.

On the g$π$-Hirano invertibility in Banach algebras

In a Banach algebra, we introduce a new type of generalized inverse called g$π$-Hirano inverse. Firstly, several existence criteria and the equivalent definition of this inverse are investigated. Then, we discuss the relationship between the g$π$-Hirano invertibility of $a$, $b$ and that of the sum $a+b$ under some weaker conditions. Finally, as applications to the previous additive results, some equivalent characterizations for the g$π$-Hirano invertibility of the anti-triangular matrix over Banach algebras are obtained. In particular, some results in this paper are different from the corresponding ones of classical generalized inverses, such as Drazin inverse and generalized Drazin inverse.

Effect of Strong Time-Varying Transmission Distance on LEO Satellite-Terrestrial Deliveries

In this paper, we investigate the effect of the strong time-varying transmission distance on the performance of the low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite-terrestrial transmission (STT) system. We propose a new analytical framework using finite-state Markov channel (FSMC) model and time discretization method. Moreover, to demonstrate the applications of the proposed framework, the performances of two adaptive transmissions, rate-adaptive transmission (RAT) and power-adaptive transmission (PAT) schemes, are evaluated for the cases when the transmit power or the transmission rate at the LEO satellite is fixed. Closed-form expressions for the throughput, energy efficiency (EE), and delay outage rate (DOR) of the considered systems are derived and verified, which are capable of addressing the capacity, energy efficiency, and outage rate performance of the considered LEO STT scenarios with the proposed analytical framework.

Optimal error estimates of multiphysics finite element method for a nonlinear poroelasticity model with nonlinear stress-strain relations

In this paper, we study the numerical algorithm for a nonlinear poroelasticity model with nonlinear stress-strain relations. By using variable substitution, the original problem can be reformulated to a new coupled fluid-fluid system, that is, a generalized nonlinear Stokes problem of displacement vector field related to pseudo pressure and a diffusion problem of other pseudo pressure fields. A new technique is used to get the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the reformulated model and a fully discrete nonlinear finite element method is proposed to solve the model numerically. The multiphysics finite element is used to get the discretization of the space variable and the backward Euler method is taken as the time-stepping method in the fully discrete case. Stability analysis and the error estimation are given for the fully discrete case and numerical test are taken to verify the theoretical results.

Characterizations of weighted core inverse in rings with involution

$R$ is a unital ring with involution. We investigate the characterizations and representations of weighted core inverse of an element in $R$ by idempotents and units. For example, let $a\in R$ and $e\in R$ be an invertible Hermitian element, $n\geqslant 1$, then $a$ is $e$-core invertible if and only if there exists an element (or an idempotent) $p$ such that $(ep)^{\ast}=ep$, $pa=0$ and $a^{n}+p$ (or $a^{n}(1-p)+p$) is invertible. As a consequence, let $e, f\in R$ be two invertible Hermitian elements, then $a$ is weighted-$\mathrm{EP}$ with respect to $(e, f)$ if and only if there exists an element (or an idempotent) $p$ such that $(ep)^{\ast}=ep$, $(fp)^{\ast}=fp$, $pa=ap=0$ and $a^{n}+p$ (or $a^{n}(1-p)+p$) is invertible. These results generalize and improve conclusions in \cite{Li}.

Impact of Interlayer and Ferroelectric Materials on Charge Trapping during Endurance Fatigue of FeFET with TiN/HfxZr1-xO2/interlayer/Si (MFIS) Gate Structure

We study the impact of different interlayers and ferroelectric materials on charge trapping during the endurance fatigue of Si FeFET with TiN/HfxZr1-xO2/interlayer/Si (MFIS) gate stack. We have fabricated FeFET devices with different interlayers (SiO2 or SiON) and HfxZr1-xO2 materials (x=0.75, 0.6, 0.5), and directly extracted the charge trapping during endurance fatigue. We find that: 1) The introduction of the N element in the interlayer suppresses charge trapping and defect generation, and improves the endurance characteristics. 2) As the spontaneous polarization (Ps) of the HfxZr1-xO2 decreases from 25.9 μC/cm2 (Hf0.5Zr0.5O2) to 20.3 μC/cm2 (Hf0.6Zr0.4O2), the charge trapping behavior decreases, resulting in the slow degradation rate of memory window (MW) during program/erase cycling; in addition, when the Ps further decreases to 8.1 μC/cm2 (Hf0.75Zr0.25O2), the initial MW nearly disappears (only ~0.02 V). Thus, the reduction of Ps could improve endurance characteristics. On the contract, it can also reduce the MW. Our work helps design the MFIS gate stack to improve endurance characteristics.

Experimental Extraction and Simulation of Charge Trapping during Endurance of FeFET with TiN/HfZrO/SiO2/Si (MFIS) Gate Structure

We investigate the charge trapping during endurance fatigue of FeFET with TiN/Hf0.5Zr0.5O2/SiO2/Si (MFIS) gate structure. We propose a method of experimentally extracting the number of trapped charges during the memory operation, by measuring the charges in the metal gate and Si substrate. We verify that the amount of trapped charges increases during the endurance fatigue process. This is the first time that the trapped charges are directly experimentally extracted and verified to increase during endurance fatigue. Moreover, we model the interplay between the trapped charges and ferroelectric polarization switching during endurance fatigue. Through the consistency of experimental results and simulated data, we demonstrate that as the memory window decreases: 1) The ferroelectric characteristic of Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 is not degraded. 2) The trap density in the upper bandgap of the gate stacks increases. 3) The reason for memory window decrease is increased trapped electrons after program operation but not related to hole trapping/de-trapping. Our work is helpful to study the charge trapping behavior of FeFET and the related endurance fatigue process.

MLPSVM:A new parallel support vector machine to multi-label learning

Multi-label learning has attracted the attention of the machine learning community. The problem conversion method Binary Relevance converts a familiar single label into a multi-label algorithm. The binary relevance method is widely used because of its simple structure and efficient algorithm. But binary relevance does not consider the links between labels, making it cumbersome to handle some tasks. This paper proposes a multi-label learning algorithm that can also be used for single-label classification. It is based on standard support vector machines and changes the original single decision hyperplane into two parallel decision hyper-planes, which call multi-label parallel support vector machine (MLPSVM). At the end of the article, MLPSVM is compared with other multi-label learning algorithms. The experimental results show that the algorithm performs well on data sets.

Numerical analysis and applications of Fokker-Planck equations for stochastic dynamical systems with multiplicative $α$-stable noises

The Fokker-Planck equations (FPEs) for stochastic systems driven by additive symmetric $α$-stable noises may not adequately describe the time evolution for the probability densities of solution paths in some practical applications, such as hydrodynamical systems, porous media, and composite materials. As a continuation of previous works on additive case, the FPEs for stochastic dynamical systems with multiplicative symmetric $α$-stable noises are derived by the adjoint operator method, which satisfy the nonlocal partial differential equations. A finite difference method for solving the nonlocal Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) is constructed, which is shown to satisfy the discrete maximum principle and to be convergent. Moreover, an example is given to illustrate this method. For asymmetric case, general finite difference schemes are proposed, and some analyses of the corresponding numerical schemes are given. Furthermore, the corresponding result is successfully applied to the nonlinear filtering problem.

General time interval multidimensional BSDEs with generators satisfying a weak stochastic-monotonicity condition

This paper establishes an existence and uniqueness result for the adapted solution of a general time interval multidimensional backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE), where the generator $g$ satisfies a weak stochastic-monotonicity condition and a general growth condition in the state variable $y$, and a stochastic-Lipschitz condition in the state variable $z$. This unifies and strengthens some known works. In order to prove this result, we develop some ideas and techniques employed in \citet{XiaoFan2017Stochastics} and \citet{LiuLiFan2019CAM}. In particular, we put forward and prove a stochastic Gronwall-type inequality and a stochastic Bihari-type inequality, which generalize the classical ones and may be useful in other places. The martingale representation theorem, Itô's formula and the BMO martingale tool are used to prove these two inequalities.

Improving ICS Cyber Resilience through Optimal Diversification of Network Resources

Network diversity has been widely recognized as an effective defense strategy to mitigate the spread of malware. Optimally diversifying network resources can improve the resilience of a network against malware propagation. This work proposes an efficient method to compute such an optimal deployment, in the context of upgrading a legacy Industrial Control System with modern IT infrastructure. Our approach can tolerate various constraints when searching for an optimal diversification, such as outdated products and strict configuration policies. We explicitly measure the vulnerability similarity of products based on the CVE/NVD, to estimate the infection rate of malware between products. A Stuxnet-inspired case demonstrates our optimal diversification in practice, particularly when constrained by various requirements. We then measure the improved resilience of the diversified network in terms of a well-defined diversity metric and Mean-time-to-compromise (MTTC), to verify the effectiveness of our approach. We further evaluate three factors affecting the performance of the optimization, such as the network structure, the variety of products and constraints. Finally, we show the competitive scalability of our approach in finding optimal solutions within a couple of seconds to minutes for networks of large scales (up to 10,000 hosts) and high densities (up to 240,000 edges).

A class of Randers metrics of scalar flag curvature

One of the most important problems in Finsler geometry is to classify Finsler metrics of scalar flag curvature. In this paper, we study the classification problem of Randers metrics of scalar flag curvature. Under the condition that $β$ is a Killing 1-form, we obtain some important necessary conditions for Randers metrics to be of scalar flag curvature.

The core and dual core inverse of a morphism with factorization

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a category with an involution $\ast$. Suppose that $φ: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism and $(φ_1, Z, φ_2)$ is an (epic, monic) factorization of $φ$ through $Z$, then $φ$ is core invertible if and only if $(φ^{\ast})^2φ_1$ and $φ_2φ_1$ are both left invertible if and only if $((φ^{\ast})^2φ_1, Z, φ_2)$, $(φ_2^{\ast}, Z, φ_1^{\ast}φ^{\ast}φ)$ and $(φ^{\ast}φ_2^{\ast}, Z, φ_1^{\ast}φ)$ are all essentially unique (epic, monic) factorizations of $(φ^{\ast})^2φ$ through $Z$. We also give the corresponding result about dual core inverse. In addition, we give some characterizations about the coexistence of core inverse and dual core inverse of an $R$-morphism in the category of $R$-modules of a given ring $R$.

The core and dual core inverses of morphisms with kernels

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an additive category with an involution $\ast$. Suppose that $φ: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism with kernel $κ: K \rightarrow X$ in $\mathscr{C}$, then $φ$ is core invertible if and only if $φ$ has a cokernel $λ: X \rightarrow L$ and both $κλ$ and $φ^{\ast}φ^3+κ^{\ast}κ$ are invertible. In this case, we give the representation of the core inverse of $φ$. We also give the corresponding result about dual core inverse.

The second and third approaches, which depend on the explicit expression of the core-EP inverse, are established. The corresponding limit representations of the dual core-EP inverse are also given. In particular, limit representations of the core and dual core inverse are derived
