Quantum geometry of algebra factorisations and coalgebra bundles

We develop the noncommutative geometry (bundles, connections etc.) associated to algebras that factorise into two subalgebras. An example is the factorisation of matrices $M_2(\C)=\C\Z_2\cdot\C\Z_2$. We also further extend the coalgebra version of theory introduced previously, to include frame resolutions and corresponding covariant derivatives and torsions. As an example, we construct $q$-monopoles on all the Podleś quantum spheres $S^2_{q,s}$.

Frobenius and Mashke type Theorems for Doi-Hopf modules and entwined modules revisited: a unified approach

We study when induction functors (and their adjoints) between categories of Doi-Hopf modules and, more generally, entwined modules are separable, resp. Frobenius. We present a unified approach, leading to new proofs of old results by the authors, as well as to some new ones. Also our methods provide a categorical explanation for the relationship between separability and Frobenius properties.

The structure of corings: Induction functors, Maschke-type theorem, and Frobenius and Galois-type properties

Given a ring $A$ and an $A$-coring $\cC$ we study when the forgetful functor from the category of right $\cC$-comodules to the category of right $A$-modules and its right adjoint $-\otimes_A\cC$ are separable. We then proceed to study when the induction functor $-\otimes_A\cC$ is also the left adjoint of the forgetful functor. This question is closely related to the problem when $A\to {}_A{\rm Hom}(\cC,A)$ is a Frobenius extension. We introduce the notion of a Galois coring and analyse when the tensor functor over the subring of $A$ fixed under the coaction of $\cC$ is an equivalence. We also comment on possible dualisation of the notion of a coring.

Deformation of Algebra Factorisations

A general deformation theory of algebras which factorise into two subalgebras is studied. It is shown that the classification of deformations is related to the cohomology of a certain double complex reminiscent of the Gerstenhaber-Schack complex of a bialgebra.

The cohomology structure of an algebra entwined with a coalgebra

Two cochain complexes are constructed for an algebra A and a coalgebra C entwined with each other via the map $ψ:C\otimes A\to A\otimes C$. One complex is associated to an A-bimodule, the other to a C-bicomodule. In the former case the resulting complex can be considered as a $ψ$-twisted Hochschild complex of A, while for the latter one obtains a $ψ$-twist of the Cartier complex of C. The notion of a {\em weak comp algebra} is introduced by weakening the axioms of the Gerstenhaber comp algebra. It is shown that such a weak comp algebra is a cochain complex with two cup products that descend to the cohomology. It is also shown that the complexes associated to an entwining structure and A or C are examples of a weak comp algebra. Finally both complexes are combined in a double complex whose role in the deformation theory of entwining structures is outlined.

On modules associated to coalgebra Galois extensions

For a given entwining structure $(A,C)_ψ$ involving an algebra $A$, a coalgebra $C$, and an entwining map $ψ: C\otimes A\to A\otimes C$, a category $\M_A^C(ψ)$ of right $(A,C)_ψ$-modules is defined and its structure analysed. In particular, the notion of a measuring of $(A,C)_ψ$ to $(\tA,\tC)_\tpsi$ is introduced, and certain functors between $\M_A^C(ψ)$ and $\M_\tA^\tC(\tpsi)$ induced by such a measuring are defined. It is shown that these functors are inverse equivalences iff they are exact (or one of them faithfully exact) and the measuring satisfies a certain Galois-type condition. Next, left modules $E$ and right modules $\bar{E}$ associated to a $C$-Galois extension $A$ of $B$ are defined. These can be thought of as objects dual to fibre bundles with coalgebra $C$ in the place of a structure group, and a fibre $V$. Cross-sections of such associated modules are defined as module maps $E\to B$ or $\bar{E}\to B$. It is shown that they can be identified with suitably equivariant maps from the fibre to $A$. Also, it is shown that a $C$-Galois extension is cleft if and only if $A=B\tens C$ as left $B$-modules and right $C$-comodules. The relationship between the modules $E$ and $\bar{E}$ is studied in the case when $V$ is finite-dimensional and in the case when the canonical entwining map is bijective.

Line bundles on quantum spheres

The (left coalgebra) line bundle associated to the quantum Hopf fibration of any quantum two-sphere is shown to be a finitely generated projective module. The corresponding projector is constructed and its monopole charge is computed. It is shown that the Dirac $q$-monopole connection on any quantum two-sphere induces the Grassmannian connection built with this projector.

Coalgebra Extensions and Algebra Coextensions of Galois Type

The notion of a coalgebra-Galois extension is defined as a natural generalisation of a Hopf-Galois extension. It is shown that any coalgebra-Galois extension induces a unique entwining map $ψ$ compatible with the right coaction. For the dual notion of an algebra-Galois coextension it is also proven that there always exists a unique entwining structure compatible with the right action.

Nahm's equations and root systems

A method of deriving solutions to Nahm's equations based on root structure of simple Lie algebras is given. As an illustration of this method the recently found solutions to Nahm's equations with tetrahedral and octahedral symmetries are shown to correspond to $A_2$ and $A_3$ root systems.

Quantum differentials and the q-monopole revisited

The q-monopole bundle introduced previously is extended to a general construction for quantum group bundles with non-universal differential calculi. We show that the theory applies to several other classes of bundles as well, including bicrossproduct quantum groups, the quantum double and combinatorial bundles associated to covers of compact manifolds.

Crossed Products by a Coalgebra

We introduce the notion of a crossed product of an algebra by a coalgebra $C$, which generalises the notion of a crossed product by a bialgebra well-studied in the theory of Hopf algebras. The result of such a crossed product is an algebra which is also a right $C$-comodule. We find the necessary and sufficient conditions for two coalgebra crossed products be equivalent. We show that the two-dimensional quantum Euclidean group is a coalgebra crossed product. The paper is completed with an appendix describing the dualisation of construction of coalgebra crossed products.

Quantum Homogeneous Spaces and Coalgebra Bundles

It is shown that quantum homogeneous spaces of a quantum group H can be viewed as fibres of quantum fibrations with the total space H that are dual to coalgebra bundles. As concrete examples of such structures the fibrations with the quantum 2-sphere and the quantum hyperboloid fibres are considered.

Separation of Variables and Vacuum Structure of N=2 SUSY QCD

We show how the method of separation of variables can be used to construct integrable models corresponding to curves describing vacuum structure of four-dimensional ${\cal N} = 2$ SUSY Yang-Mills theories. We use this technique to construct models corresponding to $SU(N)$ Yang-Mills theory with $N_f<2N$ matter hypermultiplets by generalising the periodic Toda lattice. We also show that some special cases of massive $SU(3)$ gauge theory can be equivalently described by the generalisations of the Goryachev-Chaplygin top obtained via separation of variables.
