Large time asymptotics of growth models on space-like paths II: PNG and parallel TASEP

We consider the polynuclear growth (PNG) model in 1+1 dimension with flat initial condition and no extra constraints. The joint distributions of surface height at finitely many points at a fixed time moment are given as marginals of a signed determinantal point process. The long time scaling limit of the surface height is shown to coincide with the Airy_1 process. This result holds more generally for the observation points located along any space-like path in the space-time plane. We also obtain the corresponding results for the discrete time TASEP (totally asymmetric simple exclusion process) with parallel update.

Transition between Airy_1 and Airy_2 processes and TASEP fluctuations

We consider the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process, a model in the KPZ universality class. We focus on the fluctuations of particle positions starting with certain deterministic initial conditions. For large time t, one has regions with constant and linearly decreasing density. The fluctuations on these two regions are given by the Airy_1 and Airy_2 processes, whose one-point distributions are the GOE and GUE Tracy-Widom distributions of random matrix theory. In this paper we analyze the transition region between these two regimes and obtain the transition process. Its one-point distribution is a new interpolation between GOE and GUE edge distributions.

Fluctuation properties of the TASEP with periodic initial configuration

We consider the joint distributions of particle positions for the continuous time totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP). They are expressed as Fredholm determinants with a kernel defining a signed determinantal point process. We then consider certain periodic initial conditions and determine the kernel in the scaling limit. This result has been announced first in a letter by one of us and here we provide a self-contained derivation. Connections to last passage directed percolation and random matrices are also briefly discussed.

Exact location of the multicritical point for finite-dimensional spin glasses: A conjecture

We present a conjecture on the exact location of the multicritical point in the phase diagram of spin glass models in finite dimensions. By generalizing our previous work, we combine duality and gauge symmetry for replicated random systems to derive formulas which make it possible to understand all the relevant available numerical results in a unified way. The method applies to non-self-dual lattices as well as to self dual cases, in the former case of which we derive a relation for a pair of values of multicritical points for mutually dual lattices. The examples include the +-J and Gaussian Ising spin glasses on the square, hexagonal and triangular lattices, the Potts and Z_q models with chiral randomness on these lattices, and the three-dimensional +-J Ising spin glass and the random plaquette gauge model.

Possibly Exact Solution for the Multicritical Point of Finite-Dimensional Spin Glasses

After briefly describing the present status of the spin glass theory, we present a conjecture on the exact location of the multicritical point in the phase diagram of finite-dimensional spin glasses. The theory enables us to understand in a unified way many numerical results for two-, three- and four-dimensional models including the +-J Ising model, random Potts model, random lattice gauge theory, and random Zq model. It is also suggested from the same theoretical framework that models with symmetric distribution of randomness in exchange interaction have no finite-temperature transition on the square lattice.

Construction of a matrix product stationary state from solutions of finite size system

Stationary states of stochastic models, which have $N$ states per site, in matrix product form are considered. First we give a necessary condition for the existence of a finite $M$-dimensional matrix product state for any ${N,M}$. Second, we give a method to construct the matrices from the stationary states of small size system when the above condition and $N\le M$ are satisfied. Third, the method by which one can check that the obtained matrices are valid for any system size is presented for the case where $M=N$ is satisfied. The application of our methods is explained using three examples: the asymmetric exclusion process, a model studied in [F. H. Jafarpour: J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 36 (2003) 7497] and a hybrid of both of the models.

Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process and Modified Random Matrix Ensembles

We study the fluctuation properties of the asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on an infinite one-dimensional lattice. When $N$ particles are initially situated in the negative region with a uniform density $ρ_-=1$, Johansson showed the equivalence of the current fluctuation of ASEP and the largest eigenvalue distribution of random matrices. We extend Johansson's formula and derive modified ensembles of random matrices, corresponding to general ASEP initial conditions. Taking the scaling limit, we find that a phase change of the asymptotic current fluctuation occurs at a critical position.

Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process with Open Boundaries and Askey-Wilson Polynomials

We study the one-dimensional asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) with open boundary conditions. Particles are injected and ejected at both boundaries. It is clarified that the steady state of the model is intimately related to the Askey-Wilson polynomials. The partition function and the $n$-point functions are obtained in the integral form with four boundary parameters. The thermodynamic current is evaluated to confirm the conjectured phase diagram.

One-Dimensional Partially Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process on a Ring with a Defect Particle

The effect of a moving defect particle for the one-dimensional partially asymmetric simple exclusion process on a ring is considered. The current of the ordinary particles, the speed of the defect particle and the density profile of the ordinary particles are calculated exactly. The phase diagram for the correlation length is identified. As a byproduct, the average and the variance of the particle density of the one-dimensional partially asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries are also computed.

Density Profile of the One-Dimensional Partially Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process with Open Boundaries

The one-dimensional partially asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries is considered. The stationary state, which is known to be constructed in a matrix product form, is studied by applying the theory of q-orthogonal polynomials. Using a formula of the q-Hermite polynomials, the average density profile is computed in the thermodynamic limit. The phase diagram for the correlation length, which was conjectured in the previous work[J. Phys. A {\bf 32} (1999) 7109], is confirmed.
