The obstacle problem for singular quasi-linear elliptic equations

Existence of solutions to an obstacle $p$-Laplacian problem exhibiting a singular, discontinuous reaction is proved. The reaction term may be discontinuous in a Lebesgue-negligible set. Moreover, solutions are shown to be locally $C^{1,α}$ far away from the contact set. Under a differentiability hypothesis on the obstacle, solutions belong to $C^{1,α}(\overlineΩ)$.

On singular $p$-Laplacian problems with discontinuous convection terms

The existence of positive strong solutions to a homogeneous Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian problem, with reaction sum of a both singular at zero and highly discontinuous nonlinearity and of a discontinuous convection term, is established. Locality arguments, based on suitable measure theoretical results (see Section 3), are employed.

Degenerate singular Kirchhoff problems in Musielak-Orlicz spaces

In this paper we study quasilinear elliptic Kirchhoff equations driven by a non-homogeneous operator with unbalanced growth and right-hand sides that consist of sub-linear, possibly singular, and super-linear reaction terms. Under very general assumptions we prove the existence of at least two solutions for such problems by using the fibering method along with an appropriate splitting of the associated Nehari manifold. In contrast to other works our treatment is very general, with much easier and shorter proofs as it was done in the literature before. Furthermore, the results presented in this paper cover a large class of second-order differential operators like the $p$-Laplacian, the $(p,q)$-Laplacian, the double phase operator, and the logarithmic double phase operator.

Traveling waves for highly degenerate and singular reaction-diffusion-advection equations with discontinuous coefficients

Sufficient conditions for either existence or non-existence of traveling wave solutions for a general quasi-linear reaction-diffusion-convection equation, possibly highly degenerate or singular, with discontinuous coefficients are furnished. Under an additional hypothesis on the convection term, the set of admissible wave speeds is characterized in terms of the minimum wave speed, which is estimated through a double-sided bound.

On Bobkov-Tanaka type spectrum for the double-phase operator

Moving from the seminal papers by Bobkov and Tanaka \cite{BT,BT2,BT3} on the spectrum of the $(p,q)$-Laplacian, we analyze the case of the double-phase operator. We discuss the region of parameters in which existence and non-existence of positive solutions occur. The proofs are based on normalization procedures, the Nehari manifold, and truncation techniques, exploiting Picone-type inequalities and an ad-hoc strong maximum principle.

Decay estimates for solutions to non-autonomous critical p-Laplace problems

We prove optimal decay estimates for positive solutions to elliptic p-Laplacian problems in the entire Euclidean space, when a critical nonlinearity with a decaying source term is considered. Also gradient decay estimates are furnished. Our results extend previous theorems in the literature, in which a purely critical reaction is treated. The technique is based on a priori estimates, regularity results, and rescaling arguments, combined with the doubling lemma.

Strong solutions to singular discontinuous $p$-Laplacian problems

In this paper, the existence of positive strong solutions to a Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian problem with reaction both singular at zero and highly discontinuous is investigated. In particular, it is only required that the set of discontinuity points has Lebesgue measure zero.

Existence and regularity for a $p$-Laplacian problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with singular, convective, critical reaction

We prove an existence result for a $p$-Laplacian problem set in the whole Euclidean space and exhibiting a critical term perturbed by a singular, convective reaction. The approach used combines variational methods, truncation techniques, and concentration compactness arguments, together with set-valued analysis and fixed point theory. De Giorgi's technique, a priori gradient estimates, and nonlinear regularity theory are employed to get local $C^{1,α}$ regularity of solutions, as well as their pointwise decay at infinity. The result is new even in the non-singular case, also for the Laplacian.

Existence, uniqueness, and decay results for singular $Φ$-Laplacian systems in $\mathbb{R}^N$

Existence of solutions to a $Φ$-Laplacian singular system is obtained via shifting method and variational methods. A priori estimates are furnished through De Giorgi's technique, Talenti's rearrangement argument, and exploiting the weak Harnack inequality, while decay of solutions is obtained via comparison with radial solutions to auxiliary problems. Finally, uniqueness is investigated, and a Diaz-Saa type result is provided.

A note on gradient estimates for p-Laplacian equations

The aim of this short paper is to show that some assumptions in [10] can be relaxed and even dropped when looking for weak solutions instead of strong ones. This improvement is a consequence of two results concerning gradient terms: an $L^\infty$ estimate, which exploits nonlinear potential theory, and a compactness result, based on the classical Riesz-Fréchet-Kolmogorov theorem.

Liouville rigidity and time-extrinsic Harnack estimates for an anisotropic slow diffusion

We prove that ancient non-negative solutions to a fully anisotropic prototype evolution equation are constant if they satisfy a condition of finite speed of propagation and if they are both one-sided bounded, and bounded in space at a single time level. A similar statement is valid when the bound is given at a single space point. As a general paradigm, Hölder estimates provide the basics for rigidity. Finally, we show that recent intrinsic Harnack estimates can be improved to a Harnack inequality valid for non-intrinsic times. Locally, they are equivalent.

The sub-supersolution method for variable exponent double phase systems with nonlinear boundary conditions

In this paper we study quasilinear elliptic systems driven by variable exponent double phase operators involving fully coupled right-hand sides and nonlinear boundary conditions. The aim of our work is to establish an enclosure and existence result for such systems by means of trapping regions formed by pairs of sup- and supersolutions. Under very general assumptions on the data we then apply our result to get infinitely many solutions. Moreover, we also discuss the case when we have homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and present some existence results for this kind of problem.

Multiple solutions to quasi-linear elliptic Robin systems

Two opposite constant-sign solutions to a non-variational p-Laplacian system with Robin boundary conditions are obtained via sub-super-solution techniques. A third nontrivial one comes out by means of topological degree arguments.

Existence of two solutions for singular Φ-Laplacian problems

Existence of two solutions to a parametric singular quasi-linear elliptic problem is proved. The equation is driven by the Φ-Laplacian operator and the reaction term can be non-monotone. The main tools employed are a local minimum theorem and the Mountain Pass theorem, together with the truncation technique. Global C^{1,τ} regularity of solutions is also investigated, chiefly via a priori estimates and perturbation techniques.
