Strongly Coupled Quark Gluon Plasma (SCQGP)

We propose that the reason for the non-ideal behavior seen in lattice simulation of quark gluon plasma (QGP) and relativistic heavy ion collisions (URHICs) experiments is that the QGP near T_c and above is strongly coupled plasma (SCP), i.e., strongly coupled quark gluon plasma (SCQGP). It is remarkable that the widely used equation of state (EoS) of SCP in QED (quantum electrodynamics) very nicely fits lattice results on all QGP systems, with proper modifications to include color degrees of freedom and running coupling constant. Results on pressure in pure gauge, 2-flavors and 3-flavors QGP, are all can be explained by treating QGP as SCQGP as demonstated here.Energy density and speed of sound are also presented for all three systems. We further extend the model to systems with finite quark mass and a reasonably good fit to lattice results are obtained for (2+1)-flavors and 4-flavors QGP. Hence it is the first unified model, namely SCQGP, to explain the non-ideal QGP seen in lattice simulations with just two system dependent parameters.

Quasi-particle model of QGP - a revisit

The quasi-particle model of quark gluon plasma (QGP) is revisited here with thermodynamically consistent formalism, different from earlier studies, without the need of temperature dependent bag constant as well as other effects such as confinement effects, effective degrees of freedom etc. Our model has only one system dependent parameter and surpraisingly good fit to lattice results for gluon plasma, 2-flavor and 3-flavor QGP are obtained. The basic idea is to evaluate energy density $ε$ first from grand partition function of quasi-particle QGP and then derive all other thermodynamic functions from $ε$. Quasi-particles are assumed to have temperature dependent mass equal to plasma frequency. Energy density, pressure and speed of sound are evaluated and compared with available lattice data. We further extend the model to finite chemical potential, without any new parameters, to obtain quark density, quark susceptibility etc. and fits very well with the lattice results on 2-flavor QGP.

Effect of random magnetic field on active-sterile neutrino conversion in the supernova core

The active-sterile neutrino conversion is studied for neutrino propagating in the axial potential generated by magnetised electron plasma in the supernova medium. We consider the effect of random magnetic field $B_{rms}$ on the average neutrino conversion probability. We obtained the constraint on $Δm^2$ and $\sin^2 2θ$ for different strength of the random magnetic fields, by considering the positive definiteness of the average neutrino conversion probability inside the supernova core. Our calculation shows that, $B_{rms}\le 0.63\times 10^{14}$ Gauss is preferable so that small values of $Δm^2$ can not be excluded.

Neutrino propagation in AGN environment

Assuming the violation of equivalence principle (VEP) by ultra high energy AGN neutrinos we study the effect of random magnetic field fluctuation on conversion of electron neutrinos to tau anti-neutrinos.
