Is OPERA Neutrino Superluminal Propagation similar to Gain-Assisted Superluminal Light Propagation

In this work we consider a possible conceptual similarity between recent, amazing OPERA experiment of the superluminal propagation of neutrino and experiment of the gain-assisted superluminal light propagation realized about ten years ago. Last experiment refers on the propagation of the light, precisely laser pulse through a medium, precisely caesium atomic gas, with characteristic anomalous dispersion and corresponding negative group-velocity index with very large amplitude between two closely spaced gain lines (that is in some way similar to quantum theory of the ferromagnetism). It implies superluminal propagation of the light through this medium. Nevertheless all this, at it has been pointed out by authors, "is not at odds with causality or special relativity", since it simply represents "a direct consequence of the classical interference between ... different frequency components". We suggest that OPERA experiment can be in some way conceptually similar to the gain-assisted superluminal light propagation experiment. For this reason we suppose too that OPERA experiment can be simply explained in full agreement with causality and special relativity if there is some medium, precisely a scalar field (e.g. dark matter field, Higgs field or similar) through which neutrino propagates. We prove that, according to OPERA experiment data, supposed medium must be non-dispersive while its refractive index must be positive, smaller but relatively close to 1 (that is in some way similar to quantum theory of the diamagnetism). If it is true OPERA experiment results do not mean that special theory of relativity is broken, but they mean detection of suggested medium, i.e. a scalar field (e.g. dark matter field, Higgs field or similar).

Complete Quantum Thermodynamics of the Black Body Photon Gas

Kelly and Leff demonstrated and discussed formal and conceptual similarities between basic thermodynamic formulas for the classical ideal gas and black body photon gas. Leff pointed out that thermodynamic formulas for the photon gas cannot be deduced completely by thermodynamic methods since these formulas hold two characteristic parameters, {\it r} and {\it b}, whose accurate values can be obtained exclusively by accurate methods of the quantum statistics (by explicit use of the Planck's or Bose-Einstein distribution). In this work we prove that the complete quantum thermodynamics of the black body photon gas can be done by simple, thermodynamic (non-statistical) methods. We prove that both mentioned parameters and corresponding variables (photons number and pressure) can be obtained very simply and practically exactly (with relative error about few percent), by non-statistical (without any use of the Planck's or Bose-Einstein distribution), quantum thermodynamic methods. Corner-stone of these methods represents a quantum thermodynamic stability condition that is, in some degree, very similar to quantum stability condition in the Bohr quantum atomic theory (de Broglie's interpretation of the Bohr quantization postulate). Finally, we discuss conceptual similarities between black body photon gas entropy and Bekenstein-Hawking black hole entropy.

Can Equivalence Principle be consistent with the Bohr-Somerfeld-Hansson Theory of the Newtonian Gravity

In this work we consider some consequences of the Bohr-Sommerfeld-Hansson (Old or quasi-classical) quantum theory of the Newtonian gravity, i.e. of the "gravitational atom". We prove that in this case (for gravitational central force and quantized angular momentum) centrifugal acceleration becomes formally-theoretically dependent (proportional to fourth degree) of the mass of "gravitational electron" rotating around "gravitational nucleus" for any quantum number (state). It seemingly leads toward a paradoxical breaking of the relativistic equivalence principle which contradicts to real experimental data. We demonstrate that this equivalence principle breaking does not really appear in the (quasi classical) quantum theory, but that it necessary appears only in a hypothetical extension of the quantum theory that needs a classical like interpretation of the Bohr-Sommerfeld angular momentum quantization postulate. It is, in some sense, similar to Bell-Aspect analysis that points out that a hypothetical deterministic extension of the quantum mechanics, in distinction to usual quantum mechanics, can reproduce experimental data if and only if it is non-local (superluminal) in contradiction with relativistic locality (luminality) principle.

Can a Nucleus be Larger Than an Atom (QUANTUM Last Supper-Position)

In this work we consider an extraordinary quantum mechanical effect when, roughly speaking, the nucleus of an atom becomes (linearly) larger than the whole atom. Precisely, we consider Helium ion (in the ground state of the electron) moving translationally with the speed much smaller than speed of the electron rotation. This translation, effectively, changes neither the total momentum, nor the de Broglie wave length of the electron, nor the linear size of the atom corresponding to the diameter of the electron orbit. But, this translation implies a small nucleus momentum and nuclear de Broglie wavelength almost hundred times larger than the electron de Broglie wavelength. In the measurement of the nucleus wavelength using a diffraction apparatus with a characteristic length constant proportional to the proposed nucleus wavelength, according to standard quantum mechanical formalism, the nucleus behaves practically certainly as a wave. Then the unique, irreducible linear characteristic size for such a nucleus is de Broglie wavelength. Such a measurement effectively influences neither the electron dynamics nor linear size of the atom. This implies that, in such measurement, the size of the nucleus is in one dimension larger than the whole atom, i.e. electron orbital. All this corresponds metaphorically to the famous Leonardo fresco "Last Supper" where Jesus' words coming from the nucleus, i.e. center of the composition, cause an expanding "superposition" or dramatic wave-like movement of the apostles.

Dark Spring - a Simple Interpretation of the Susskind- Horowitz-Polchinsky Correspondence between Schwarzschild Black Hole and Strings

In this work we suggest a simplified interpretation of Susskind-Horowitz-Polchinski correspondence between Schwarzschild black hole and strings. Firstly, similarly to naive, classical mechanical Laplace determination of the Schwarzschild radius, we suggest a simple, classical mechanical equation. It determines amplitude of such sufficiently strong classical elastic force that forbids escape of a Planck mass particle moving by speed of light from end of corresponding classical elastic spring, simply called dark spring. Also, by use of a formal identity between given elastic force and Schwarzschild gravitational "force", we introduce phenomenologically a simple quantization rule. It states that circumference (corresponding to elastic force amplitude equivalent formally to Schwarzschild radius) holds natural number of corresponding reduced Compton's wave length. (It is deeply analogous to Bohr's quantization postulate in Bohr's atomic theory interpreted by de Broglie relation.) Then, very simply (by simple algebraic equations only) and surprisingly, we obtain such dark spring characteristics corresponding to basic thermodynamical characteristics (Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and Hawking temperature) for corresponding Schwarzschild black hole. Finally, simple comparison between obtained dark spring characteristics and Susskind-Horowitz-Polchinski correspondence, a simple correspondence between strings and dark spring, i.e. classical linear harmonic oscillator follows. Square root of the elasticity coefficient of the dark spring corresponds to quotient of one string coupling g and Newtonian gravitational constant, or, classical elasticity coefficient of the dark spring corresponds to reciprocal (inverse) value of the square root of a string state excitation level N.

A Classical and Quantum Mechanical Analog of Two Capacitors Paradox

As it is well-known one of the most fascinating examples in remarkable discussion between Einstein and Bohr on the conceptual foundation of the quantum mechanics (Heisenberg energy-time uncertainty relation especially) was an experimental device representing a box hanged on an elastic spring. The pair of similar devices is used in this work for formulation of a classical and (implicitly) quantum mechanical analog of the famous two capacitors paradox. It admits a simple solution of the paradox since energy difference or seeming paradoxical "loss" can be explained by work of the elastic force for moving of the boxes in the gravitational field. (Obviously, original two capacitors paradox can be explained in the analogous way.)

Quantum, Photo-Electric Single Capacitor Paradox

In this work single capacitor paradox (a variation of the remarkable two capacitor paradox) is considered in a new, quantum discrete form. Simply speaking we consider well-known usual, photoelectric effect experimental device, i.e. photo electric cell, where cathode and anode are equivalently charged but non-connected. It, obviously, represents a capacitor that initially, i.e. before action of the photons with individual energy equivalent to work function, holds corresponding energy of the electrical fields between cathode and anode. Further, we direct quantum discretely photons, one by one, toward cathode where according to photo-electrical effect electrons discretely, one by one, will be emitted and directed toward anode. It causes discrete discharge of the cell, i.e. capacitor and discrete decrease of the electrical field. Finally, total discharge of the cell, i.e. capacitor, and total disappearance of the electrical field and its energy will occur. Given, seemingly paradoxical, capacitor total energy loss can be simply explained without any dissipative effects (Joule heating or electromagnetic waves emission can be neglected as high order small corrections) by work done by the electrical field by movement of the electrons from cathode to anode. (Remarkable two capacitors paradox can be, obviously, formulated and explained in the completely analogous way.)

Peter and Anti-Peter Principle as the Discrete Logistic Equation

In this work Peter principle (in the hierarchical structure any competent member tends to rise to his level of incompetence) is consistently interpreted as the discrete form of the well-known logistic (Verhulst or Maltusian) equation of the population dynamics. According to such interpretation anti-Peter principle (in the hierarchical structure any incompetent member tends to rise to his level of competence) is formulated too.

LC Oscillating Circuit as the Simple Classical Analog of the Quantum Zeno Effect

In this work a simple classical analog of the quantum Zeno effect is suggested. As it is well known, in the quantum mechanics, in the limit of the infinite series of alternative short dynamical evolution and measurement, an unstable quantum system will never decay, that is called quantum Zeno effect. Here an ideal (without resistance), classical LC oscillating circuit with quick switch ON-OFF alternation is considered. In the limit of the infinite series of alternative short electrical current regime (switch in the ON state) and no-current regime (current breaking by quick switch ON-OFF state alternation) given LC circuit will never oscillate. Obviously, it represents a classical electro-dynamical Zeno effect deeply analogous to quantum Zeno effect. All this admits a general definition of the Zeno effect that includes both quantum and classical cases (without any classical interpretation of the quantum Zeno effect or quantum interpretation of the classical Zeno effect).

Determination of the Minimal Length by Microscopic Black Hole Temperature

Generalizing results of our previous work (where classical kinetic energy has been used) in this work (where ultra-relativistic kinetic energy is used) we suggest an original variant of the determination of minimal length (corresponding to Plank length) by formation of a microscopic (tiny) black hole. Like to some previous authors we use Heisenberg coordinate-momentum uncertainty relation, on the one hand. But, instead of metric fluctuation (obtained by second derivative in Einstein equations) that generalizes uncertainty relation by an additional term, used by previous authors, we use Hawking temperature of the black hole and standard Heisenberg coordinate-momentum uncertainty relation.

A De Broglie-Like Wave in the Planetary Systems

In this work we do an "interpolation" of Scardigli theory of a quantum-like description of the planetary system that reproduces remarkable Titius-Bode-Richardson rule. More precisely, instead of simple, approximate, Bohr-like theory, or, accurate, Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger-like theory, considered by Scardigli, we suggest originally a semi-accurate, de Broglie-like description of the planetary system. Especially, we shall propose a de Broglie-like waves in the planetary systems. More precisely, in distinction from Scardigly (which postulated absence of the interference phenomena at planet orbits) we shall prove that, roughly speaking, planets orbits equal a sum of natural numbers of two types, large and small, of the de-Broglie-like waves. It is similar to well-known situation in atomic physics by interpretation of Bohr momentum quantization postulate by de Broglie relation.

A Close Correlation between Third Kepler Law and Titius-Bode Rule

In this work we present a close correlation between third Kepler law and Titius-Bode empirical rule. Concretely, we demonstrate that third Kepler law, or, corresponding equilibrium condition between centrifugal and Newtonian gravitational force, implies that planet orbital momentum becomes effectively a function of the planet distance as unique variable and vice versa. Then, approximation of the planet distance by its first order Taylor expansion over planet orbital momentum holds an exponential form corresponding to Titius-Bode rule. In this way it is not necessary postulate exponential form of the planet distance (as it has been done by Scardigli) but only discrete values of its argument. Physically, it simply means that, in the linear approximation, "quantized" planets orbital momentums do a geometrical progression.

Cosmological Constant as the Coefficient of Quantum Tunneling in the Universe Exterior

In this work we suggest a simple model of the cosmological constant as the coefficient of the quantum tunneling of vacuum fluctuations (with wave length larger than Planck length) at tiny, boundary spherical shell of the universe (with thickness equivalent to Planck length and radius equivalent to scale factor). Roughly speaking, given fluctuations can, by quantum tunneling (i.e. scattering with a potential barrier with highness equivalent to Planck energy and width proportional to, approximately, three hundred Planck length) leave universe and arrive in its exterior, i.e. multi-universe (in sense of Linde chaotic inflation theory universe can be considered as a causally-luminally connected space domain while its exterior can be considered as a space domain without causal-luminal connections with universe). It is in full agreement with usual quantum mechanics and quantum field theory as well as WMAP observational data (especially fine tuning condition).

Generalized Laplace Method for Simple Determination of Kerr-Newman Black Hole Horizon Radius

In this work we present a generalized Laplace method for a formal, simple, quasi-classical, determination of the outer and inner horizon radius of Kerr-Newman black hole. We consider classical gravitational interaction between a thin, with homogeneously distributed mass and electric charge, spherical (black) shell and a probe particle. Also, we use relativistic equivalence principle. Finally we suppose that probe particle propagates radially to shell with speed of light while tangentially it rotates in common with shell, so that total energy of a probe particle equals zero.

A Simple, Approximate Method for Analysis of Kerr-Newman Black Hole Dynamics and Thermodynamics

In this work we present a simple, approximate method for analysis of the basic dynamical and thermodynamical characteristics of Kerr-Newman black hole. Instead of the complete dynamics of the black hole self-interaction we consider only such stable (stationary) dynamical situations determined by condition that black hole (outer) horizon circumference holds the integer number of the reduced Compton wave lengths corresponding to mass spectrum of a small quantum system (representing quant of the black hole self-interaction). Then, we show that Kerr-Newman black hole entropy represents simply the quotient of the sum of static part and rotation part of mass of black hole on the one hand and ground mass of small quantum system on the other hand. Also we show that Kerr-Newman black hole temperature represents the negative value of the classical potential energy of gravitational interaction between a part of black hole with reduced mass and small quantum system in the ground mass quantum state. Finally, we suggest a bosonic great canonical distribution of the statistical ensemble of given small quantum systems in the thermodynamical equilibrium with (macroscopic) black hole as thermal reservoir. We suggest that, practically, only ground mass quantum state is significantly degenerate while all other, excited mass quantum states are non-degenerate. Kerr-Newman black hole entropy is practically equivalent to the ground mass quantum state degeneration. Given statistical distribution admits a rough (qualitative) but simple modeling of Hawking radiation of the black hole too.

A Simple Determination of the Thermodynamical Characteristics of the Weakly Charged, Very Thin Black Ring

In our previous work we suggested a very simple, approximate formalism for description of some basic (especially thermodynamical) characteristics of a non-charged, rotating, very thin black ring. Here, in our new work, generalizing our previous results, we suggest a very simple, approximate description of some basic (especially thermodynamical) characteristics of a weakly charged, rotating, very thin black ring. (Our formalism is not theoretically dubious, since, at it is not hard to see, it can represent an extreme simplification of a more accurate, e.g. Copeland-Lahiri, string formalism for the black hole description.) Even if suggested formalism is, generally speaking, phenomenological and rough, obtained final results, unexpectedly, are non-trivial. Concretely, given formalism reproduces exactly Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, Bekenstein quantization of the entropy or horizon area and Hawking temperature of a weakly charged, rotating, very thin black ring originally obtained earlier using more accurate analysis by Emparan, Aestefanesei, Radu etc. (Conceptually it is similar to situation in Bohr's atomic model where energy levels are determined practically exactly even if electron motion is described roughly.) Our formalism is physically based on the assumption that circumference of the horizon tube holds the natural (integer) number of corresponding reduced Compton's wave length. (It is conceptually similar to Bohr's quantization postulate in Bohr's atomic model interpreted by de Broglie relation.) Also, we use, mathematically, practically only simple algebraic equations.

A Simple Determination of the (LOGARITHMIC) Corrections of Black Hole Entropy "without Knowing the Details of Quantum Gravity"

In this work, starting by simple, approximate (quasi-classical) methods presented in our previous works, we suggest a simple determination of the (logarithmic) corrections of (Schwarzschild) black hole entropy "without knowing the details of quantum gravity"(Fursaev). Namely, in our previous works we demonstrated that all well-known important thermodynamical characteristics of the black hole (Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, Bekenstein entropy/surface quantization and Hawking temperature) can be effectively reproduced starting by simple supposition that black hole horizon circumference holds integer number of reduced Compton wave lengths corresponding to mass (energy) spectrum of a small quantum system. (Obviously it is conceptually analogous to Bohr quantization postulate interpreted by de Broglie relation in Old, Bohr-Sommerfeld, quantum theory.) Especially, black hole entropy can be presented as the quotient of the black hole mass and the minimal mass of small quantum system in ground mass (energy) state. Now, we suppose that black hole mass correction is simply equivalent to negative classical potential energy of the gravitational interaction between black hole and small quantum system in ground mass (energy) state. As it is not hard to see absolute value of the classical potential energy of gravitational interaction is identical to black hole temperature. All this, according to first thermodynamical law, implies that first order entropy correction holds form of the logarithm of the surface with coefficient -0.5. Our result, obtained practically quasi-classically, "without knowing the details of quantum gravity", is equivalent to result obtained by loop quantum gravity and other quantum gravity methods for macroscopic black holes.

Thermodynamical Characteristics of "Crystal Lattice" of Many Interacting Kerr Black Holes in Touching Limit

In this work, starting by simple, approximate (quasi-classical) methods presented in our previous works, we reproduce effectively and generalize final results of Herdeiro and Rebelo on the basic thermodynamical characteristics (entropy and temperature) of two interacting Kerr black holes (in touching limit) obtained recently by accurate analysis. Like as it has been done in our previous works, we simply suppose that circumference of the horizon of total black hole (that includes two or, generally, a "crystal lattice" of many interacting Kerr black holes in touching limit, without angular momentum) holds integer number of reduced Compton wave lengths corresponding to mass spectrum of a small quantum system captured at horizon. (Obviously it is conceptually analogous to Bohr quantization postulate interpreted by de Broglie relation in Old, Bohr-Sommerfeld, quantum theory.) It, by simple mathematical methods, first neighbour approximation of the black holes interaction and first thermodynamical law, implies mentioned basic thermodinamical characteristic of the total black hole as well as any its part, i.e. single black hole. Especially, it is shown that, in limit of increasing number of the black holes, entropy and horizon surface of the total black hole stand observables of the discrete spectrum while entropy and horizon surface of the single black hole tends toward observables of the continuous spectrum.
