Study of $ϕ\to K\bar{K}$ in the amplitude analysis of $D^{+}\to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+}$

We present the first amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of $D^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+}$ decay. The analysis uses a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3~$\rm fb^{-1}$, which was recorded at a center-of-mass energy 3.773~GeV by the BESIII detector. The measured branching fraction is $\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+})=(5.780\pm0.085\pm 0.052)\times10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Using the known value of ${\cal B}(D^+ \to ϕπ^+,\,ϕ\to K^+K^-)$, we determine the relative branching fraction between $ϕ\to K_{S}^0K_{L}^0$ and $ϕ\to K^+K^-$ to be $\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \to ϕπ^{+}, ϕ\to K_{S}^0K_{L}^0)/\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \to ϕπ^{+}, ϕ\to K^+K^-)= 0.628\pm0.022\pm 0.015\pm0.017$, where the third uncertainty is related to $\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \to ϕπ^{+}, ϕ\to K^+K^-)$. This result is significantly lower than the previous world average and is consistent with the isospin expectation for the $ϕ$ meson's coupling to charged and neutral kaon pairs.

First Measurement of the $D_s^+\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0μ^+ν_μ$ Decay, Study of Dynamics and Test of Lepton Universality with $D_s^+\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ Decays

We report the first measurement of the semileptonic decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^*(892)^0μ^+ν_μ$ and an improved measurement of the decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^*(892)^0 e^+ν_{e}$ using a sample of $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 to 4.226~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We measure the branching fractions to be $\mathcal B({D^+_s\rightarrow K^*(892)^0 μ^+ν_μ})=(2.07\pm0.22_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal B({D^+_s\rightarrow K^*(892)^0 e^+ν_{e}})=(2.14\pm0.18_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$. Based on a simultaneous study of the dynamics in two semileptonic decays, the hadronic form factor parameters in the $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0$ transition are determined to be $r_{V} = V(0)/A_1(0) = 1.63 \pm 0.14_{\rm stat} \pm 0.08_{\rm syst}$, $r_{2} = A_2(0)/A_1(0) = 0.60 \pm 0.13_{\rm stat} \pm 0.06_{\rm syst}$, and $A_1(0)=0.56 \pm 0.02_{\rm stat} \pm 0.01_{\rm syst}$, where $V(0)$ is the vector form factor and $A_{1,2}(0)$ are the axial-vector form factors evaluated at $q^2=0$. The precision of $r_V$ and $r_2$ is improved by twofold and $A_1(0)$ is measured for the first time. We also report the first model-independent measurements of the differential decay rates and the lepton forward-backward asymmetries for $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays. Based on these measurements, we perform a test of lepton flavor universality in full and separate $q^2$ intervals with $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays. No violation is found within uncertainties. Our results present for the first time a complete study of the dynamics in the $D_s^+\rightarrow K^*(892)^0$ transition, and provide stringent tests of various non-perturbative theoretical calculations.

Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of Xi(1530)^{-} to (Xi pi)^{-} and Updated Measurement of the Branching Fraction of psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c

Based on (2712.4+-14.3)*10^{6} psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{0} pi^{-} and Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{-} pi^{0} are investigated jointly via the process psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c. Under the assumption of isospin symmetry, the two decay modes are treated as fully correlated, and we report the first measurement of their absolute branching fractions. The results are B(Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{0} pi^{-})=(61.4+-4.5+-4.6)% and B(Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{-} pi^{0}) =(29.7+-2.2+-2.2)%. The combined branching fraction of the two decays is B(Xi(1530)^{-} to (Xi pi)^{-})=(91.1+-6.7+-6.8)%, with uncertainties accounting for the correlations between the two modes. Here, the first uncertainties are statistical, while the second are systematic. Additionally, we update the branching fraction of the decay psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c. The updated measurement is B(psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c.)=(8.67+-0.52+-0.58+-0.57)*10^{-6}, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic related to event selection and the fit model, and the third is associated with the interference effect.

Fifteen new millisecond pulsars in 47 Tucanae

47 Tucanae is one of the largest, brightest, and closest globular clusters to Earth. It hosts an exotic stellar population with stellar dynamics that indicate a complex evolution history. The cluster contains a large number of X-ray binaries and millisecond pulsars. However, given its large distance relative to the known pulsar population, previous surveys have found only the very brightest sources. Therefore, surveys with increased sensitivity should find many additional pulsars. Increasing the number of pulsars is crucial to investigate the dynamics of this globular cluster and could also lead to the discovery of unusual types of system. With a significantly increased sensitivity compared to earlier telescopes, MeerKAT is the natural choice to perform new surveys. We carried out two campaigns with different observational cadences to account for the high scintillation along the line of sight to this cluster. Here we report the discovery of fifteen new pulsars in 47 Tucanae with MeerKAT. These discoveries bring the total number of known pulsars in this globular cluster to 42, and the MeerKAT discoveries in this cluster to 17. We discuss some of their characteristics, which include preliminary localisations and estimates of orbits for most systems. Highlights include the discovery of 47 Tuc af, a 'black widow' pulsar with a short orbital period that was identified optically in 2002 as a candidate binary pulsar, and 47 Tuc ai, an eccentric binary pulsar with a massive companion, a unique system in 47 Tuc to date. Apart from the new systems, we also re-detect and localise 47 Tuc P and V, two elusive, seldom-detected systems that had no precise localisation from a phase-connected timing solution. The localisation of 47 Tuc V places it in a position consistent with a continuum source detected earlier in MeerKAT imaging data.

First Statistical Study of Over 100 Magnified Stellar Events at Redshift $z \approx 0.725$ with JWST

Highly magnified stars at cosmological distances ($z \gtrsim 0.7$) become detectable thanks to microlensing by intracluster stars near the critical curves of galaxy clusters. Multi-epoch photometric campaigns targeting caustic crossing galaxies magnified by massive galaxy clusters enable the detection of these objects as transient events. Such stars provide unique opportunities to study stellar populations at early cosmic times, probe the nature of dark matter, reveal small-scale structure in the cluster, and improve lens models. To date, only a few dozen high-redshift stars have been reported, with a single lensed galaxy, the Dragon, holding the current record of 44 detections. These numbers, however, remain insufficient to exploit their full potential. In this paper, owing to the inclusion of new observations, we report the identification of more than 100 magnified stellar events in the Dragon, behind the massive galaxy cluster Abell 370. The relatively low redshift of the Dragon ($z\approx0.725$) facilitates the detection of its most massive stars. Using imaging data from three different cycles (2022--2024) with the James Webb Space Telescope, we apply a time-domain technique to identify flux variations associated with caustic-crossing events. From the spatial distribution of stellar events we constrain the high-end slope of the stellar luminosity function, finding $β=2.18^{+0.20}_{-0.30}$. Alternatively, assuming a fixed slope, we constrain the microlens surface mass density. In addition, we examine the parity asymmetry of the detected caustic-crossing events, a proposed probe of wave dark matter, and find that it remains present. We also use the events to trace the regions of highest magnification, offering an alternative way to map the system critical curves.

Observation of a Doubly-strange Hyperon $Ξ(1720)$ in $J/ψ\rightarrow{}K^{-}Σ^0\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$

Based on a sample of $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the first observation of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrow K^- Σ^0 \barΞ^++c.c.$. A partial wave analysis is performed to investigate the involved excited states. In addition to the well-established $Ξ(1690)$, a new doubly-strange hyperon $Ξ(1720) $ is observed decaying to $K^- Σ^0$ with a mass of $1721.0 \pm 5.2_{\rm stat.} \pm 3.4_{\rm syst.} ~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $31.3 \pm 18.3_{\rm stat.} \pm 15.4_{\rm syst.} ~{\rm MeV}$, with a statistical significance exceeding $10σ$. The spin-parity hypothesis testing across various quantum number configurations reveals that the spin-parity of $Ξ(1720)$ favors $J^P = {\frac{3}{2}}^+$. Furthermore, the branching fraction of $J/ψ\rightarrow K^- Σ^0 \barΞ^++c.c.$ is determined to be $(2.68 \pm 0.04_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.17_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-5}$.

Probing Late-Stage Hadronic Interactions at High Baryon Density via $K^{*0}$ Production in the RHIC Beam Energy Scan Program

A precision measurement of the $K^{*0}$ meson yield is reported in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 7.7,\; 11.5,\; 14.6,\; 19.6,$ and $27~\mathrm{GeV}$ using the high-statistics data sample collected by the STAR experiment during the Beam Energy Scan II (BES-II) program at RHIC. The transeverse momentum ($p_{T}$)-integrated yield ratios $(K^{*0} + \overline{K^{*0}})/(K^{+} + K^{-})$ in central collisions show a suppression relative to peripheral collisions at the $(1.7\text{-}3.6)\,σ$ level, while a thermal model without final-stage rescattering overpredicts this ratio with a deviation of $(6.9\text{-}8.2)\,σ$. These results indicate a loss of the measured $K^{*0}$ signal in central collisions due to re-scattering of its hadronic decay products in the hadronic phase. The $p_{T}$-integrated yield of charged kaons exhibits an approximate scaling with charged-particle multiplicity, independent of collision energy and system size. A similar trend is observed for the short-lived $K^{*0}$ resonance, although significant deviations emerge at lower energies. At BES energies, the $K^{*0}/K$ ratio shows stronger suppression than at the highest RHIC and LHC energies within a given multiplicity bin, particularly in central and mid-central collisions. This behavior is consistent with changes in the effective hadronic interaction cross section and is supported by transport model calculations, which indicate dominant meson-baryon interactions at lower energies and meson-meson interactions at higher energies.

Amplitude Analysis of the Isospin-Violating Decay $J/ψ\rightarrowγηπ^{0}$

Using $(10\,087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the process $J/ψ\toγηπ^0$. The decay is dominated by the intermediate processes $J/ψ\toπ^0 b_1(1235)^0 \toγηπ^0$, $J/ψ\toπ^{0}ρ(1450)^0 \toγηπ^0$ and $J/ψ\toηh_1(1170) \toγηπ^0$. Contributions from $J/ψ\toγa_0(980)^0\toγηπ^0$, $J/ψ\toγa_2(1320)^0\toγηπ^0$ and $J/ψ\toγa_2(1700)^0\toγηπ^0$ are observed with a statistical significance exceeding $5σ$, constituting the first observation of radiative transitions of $J/ψ$ to isospin-triplet scalar mesons. The total branching fraction of $J/ψ\toγηπ^0$ is measured to be $(25.7\pm0.3\pm1.5)\times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This result is consistent with the previous measurement, with the precision improved by more than a factor of two.

SN 2025ogs: A Spectroscopically-Normal Type Ia Supernova at z = 2 as a Benchmark for Redshift Evolution

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will provide a revolutionary measurement of the Universe's expansion kinematics, driven by dark matter and dark energy, out to $z \approx 3$. The accuracy of this measurement is predicated on the assumption that standardized Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) luminosities do not evolve with redshift. If present, SN Ia luminosity evolution is expected to be most detectable in the dark matter-dominated era of the Universe ($z \gtrsim 1.5$), with its effects becoming more easily distinguishable from dark energy variation at increasing redshift. We present JWST NIRCam and NIRSpec observations of SN 2025ogs, a normal SN Ia at $z=2.05\pm 0.01$. This SN offers a key point of comparison for interpreting future high-redshift SN Ia samples. The NIRCam light curve indicates a blue color ($B - V = -0.27 \pm 0.06$ mag) and a moderately fast decline ($Δm_{15}(B) = 1.55 \pm 0.15$ mag), both within standard criteria for inclusion in cosmological analyses. Its luminosity distance is in $1.0σ$ agreement with a standard flat $Λ$CDM model, as well as with current cosmological constraints from the Dark Energy Survey (DES 5yr) and Pantheon+. The NIRSpec spectrum displays all of the hallmark absorption features of a normal SN Ia observed at peak brightness. We find that the rest-frame optical color, rest-frame near-ultraviolet properties, and Si II line strengths are all consistent with the moderately fast decline inferred from the light curve. Multiple absorption features (Ca II H&K, O I $\lambda7774$, and the Ca II NIR triplet) all appear at a lower blueshift relative to a sample of low-$z$ SNe Ia. Together, these results suggest that SN Ia standardization remains robust at $z \approx 2$, and also highlight the importance of JWST spectroscopy for uncovering evolutionary effects that could impact Roman's high-precision cosmology.

Search for the decays $X(3872)\to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ and $K^*(892)\bar{K}$ at BESIII

Using a 10.9 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.16 to 4.34 GeV, we search for the charmless decays $X(3872) \to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ and $K^*(892)\bar{K}$, where the $X(3872)$ is produced via the radiative process $e^+e^- \to γX(3872)$. No significant signal is observed. We set upper limits on the relative branching fractions $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K_S K^{\pm} π^{\mp}]/\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\toπ^+π^- J/ψ] <0.07$ and $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K^* (892)\bar{K}]/\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to π^+π^- J/ψ] <0.10$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level. Additionally, upper limits on the product of the cross section $σ[e^+e^-\toγX(3872)]$ and the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}]$ and $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K^*(892)\bar{K}]$ are reported at each energy point. In all cases, $K^*(892)\bar{K}$ refers to the sum of the modes $K^*(892)^+K^{-}+\text{c.c.}$ and $K^*(892)^0\bar{K}^0+\text{c.c.}$, where c.c. denotes the corresponding charge-conjugate modes.

We perform the first amplitude analysis of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^+ \to π^+ π^{+(0)} π^{-(0)} η$, using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$. The absolute branching fractions of the $D^+ \to π^+ π^+ π^- η$ and $D^+ \to π^+ π^0 π^0 η$ decays are measured to be $(3.20\pm0.06_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.03_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-3}$ and $(2.43 \pm 0.11_{\text{stat.}} \pm 0.04_{\text{syst.}}) \times 10^{-3}$, respectively. % , both achieving three times better precision than the current PDG values. The decay process $D^{+}\to a_0(980)^{+}f_0(500)$ is observed for the first time with an unexpectedly large branching fraction. Moreover, we observe the decays $D^+ \to a_0(980)^{+(0)} ρ(770)^{0(+)}$ and measure the ratio $r_{+/0} \equiv \frac{\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to a_0(980)^+ ρ(770)^0)}{\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to a_0(980)^0 ρ(770)^+)}$ for the first time to be $0.55\pm0.08_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.05_{\text{syst.}}$. These results offer a novel insight into our comprehension of the nature of the $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(500)$ states.

Observation of the Exotic State $π_{1}(1600)$ in $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγχ_{c1},χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η'$

An isovector state with exotic quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$, denoted as $π_{1}(1600)$, is observed for the first time in the charmonium decay of $χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ_{1}^{\pm}(1600)π^{\mp}$, $π_{1}^{\pm}(1600)\rightarrowπ^{\pm}η^{\prime}$ with a statistical significance over $21σ$. Its mass and width are determined to be $1828 \pm 8 ({\rm stat})^{+11}_{-33}({\rm syst})~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and $638 \pm 26 ({\rm stat})^{+35}_{-86}({\rm syst})~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively, using a relativistic Breit-Wigner function with a mass-dependent width. The corresponding product of branching fractions is determined to be $\mathcal{B}\left[χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ_{1}(1600)^{\pm}π^{\mp} \right] \times \mathcal{B}\left[π_{1}(1600)^{\pm}\rightarrowπ^{\pm}η^{\prime}\right] = \left( 4.30 \pm 0.14 ({\rm stat})^{+1.04}_{-1.03}({\rm syst})~ \right) \times 10^{-4}$.

Observation of $\barΛp\to K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}$ and $\barΛp\to K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}2π^{0}$

Using $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV, the antihyperon-nucleon annihilation processes $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- + kπ^0$ ($k=1,2,3$) are studied at an incident $\barΛ$ momentum of approximately 1.074 GeV/$c$. The reactions $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- π^0$ and $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 2π^0$ are observed for the first time, with corresponding cross sections $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- π^0} = 8.5^{+1.2}_{-1.1} (\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.4 (\rm {syst.})$ mb and $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 2π^0} = 7.9^{+1.9}_{-1.7} \pm 0.4$ mb. No significant signal is found for $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 3π^0$, and an upper limit of 7.2 mb is set at a 90\% confidence level. An evidence for the $K^{*}(892)^+$ resonance is seen in the $K^+π^0$ invariant mass spectrum $M_{K^+π^0}$ for $k=1$, and the corresponding cross section for $\barΛ p \to K^{*}(892)^+ π^+ π^-$ is measured to be $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^{*}(892)^+ π^+ π^-} = 12.5^{+3.8}_{-3.4} \pm 1.2$ mb. Owing to the limited statistics, possible interference effects are not considered. These findings offer crucial input to deepen our understanding of the antihyperon-nucleon interactions.

The results are $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0} \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0}) = (3.10 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.14) \times 10^{-2}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1} \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0}) = (1.16 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.05) \times 10^{-2}$, and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2} \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0}) = (1.92 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.08) \times 10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. First measurement of the absolute branching fractions of $Σ^+$ nonleptonic decays and test of the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule

Based on $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 3.097$ GeV, the first absolute measurement of the branching fractions for the decays $Σ^+ \to p π^0$ and $Σ^+ \to n π^+$ is performed. The branching fractions are determined to be $B_{Σ^+ \to p π^0} = (49.79 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.22)\%$ and $B_{Σ^+ \to n π^+} = (49.87 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.29)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These results show significant deviations from the PDG values for both decays, with differences of 4.4$σ$ for $Σ^+ \to p π^0$ and 3.4$σ$ for $Σ^+ \to n π^+$. Furthermore, the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule is tested in nonleptonic $Σ^\pm$ decays. The observed results deviate from zero by more than $5σ$, indicating the presence of the $ΔI = 3/2$ transition amplitude in the $Σ$ hyperon decays.

Measurement of the CKM angle $γ$ in $B^{\pm} \rightarrow D(\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S} h^{\prime+}h^{\prime-})h^{\pm}$ decays with a novel approach

A measurement of the CKM angle $γ$ and related strong-phase parameters is performed using a novel, model-independent approach in ${B^{\pm}\rightarrow D(\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S} h^{\prime+}h^{\prime-}) h^{\pm}}$ decays, where $h^{(\prime)} \equiv π, K$. The analysis uses a joint data sample of electron-positron collisions collected by the BESIII experiment at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider II during 2010--2011 and 2021--2022, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8 fb$^{-1}$, and proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider during 2011--2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb$^{-1}$. The two datasets are analyzed simultaneously by applying per-event weights based on the amplitude variation over the $D$-decay phase space to enhance the sensitivity to $C\!P$-violating observables. The CKM angle $γ$ is determined to be $γ= (71.3\pm 5.0)^{\circ}$, which constitutes the most precise single measurement to date.

Precise measurement of the CKM angle $γ$ with a novel approach

A measurement of the CKM angle $γ$ is performed by applying a novel, unbinned, model-independent approach to datasets of electron-positron collisions collected by the BESIII experiment and proton-proton collisions by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 8 fb$^{-1}$ and 9 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The $C\!P$-violating phase $γ$ is determined from ${B^{\pm}\rightarrow D(\rightarrow K_{\rm S}^{0} h^{\prime+}h^{\prime-}) h^{\pm}}$ decays in LHCb data, where $h^{(\prime)}$ is either a pion or kaon, while the corresponding strong-phase parameters are measured using doubly tagged ${D\rightarrow K_{\rm S/L}^0 h^{\prime+} h^{\prime-}}$ decays in the quantum-correlated $D\overline{D}$ system present in BESIII data. A joint fit to both datasets, which allows for a simultaneous determination of the associated $C\!P$-violating observables and strong-phase parameters, yields ${γ= (71.3\pm 5.0)^{\circ}}$. The result is the most precise to date and consistent with previous measurements and world averages.

Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of the decay $D^0 \to K^+K^-π^0π^0$

An amplitude analysis of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^0 \to K^+ K^- π^0 π^0$ is performed, for the first time, to determine the relative magnitudes and phases of different intermediate processes. The analysis uses $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy 3.773~GeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The absolute branching fraction of $D^0 \to K^+ K^- π^0 π^0$ is measured to be \BF. The dominant intermediate process is $D^0 \to K^{*}(892)^+K^{*}(892)^-$, with a branching fraction of $(2.79 \pm 0.13_{\rm{stat.}} \pm 0.11_{\rm{syst.}}) \times 10^{-3}$. Amplitude analysis reveals that the $D^0 \to K^{*}(892)^+K^{*}(892)^-$ decay is S-wave dominant. The longitudinal polarization fraction of $D^0 \to K^{*}(892)^+ K^{*}(892)^-$ is measured to be $0.468\pm0.046_{\rm{stat.}}\pm0.011_{\rm{syst.}}$.
