Improved measurement of the branching fraction of $D_s^+\toμ^+ν_μ$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data with an integrated luminosity of $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the branching fraction of the leptonic decay $D_s^+\toμ^+ν_μ$ is measured to be $(0.5294\pm0.0108_{\rm stat}\pm0.0085_{\rm syst})$\%. Based on this, the product of the $D_s^+$ decay constant $f_{D_s^+}$ and the magnitude of the $c\to s$ quark mixing matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=241.8\pm2.5_{\rm stat}\pm2.2_{\rm syst}~\mathrm{MeV}$. Using the value of $|V_{cs}|$ given by the global standard model fit, $f_{D_s^+}$ is found to be $248.4\pm2.5_{\rm stat}\pm2.2_{\rm syst}$\,MeV. Alternatively, using the value of $f_{D_s^+}$ from a recent lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $0.968\pm0.010_{\rm stat}\pm0.009_{\rm syst}$.

Study of the $f_{0}(980)$ and $f_{0}(500)$ Scalar Mesons through the Decay $D_{s}^{+} \to π^{+} π^{-} e^{+} ν_{e}$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33~${\rm fb^{-1}}$ recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226~${\rm GeV}$, we present an analysis of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to π^{+}π^{-} e^{+}ν_{e}$, where the $D_s^+$ is produced via the process $e^+e^- \to D_{s}^{*\pm}D_{s}^{\mp}$. We observe the $f_{0}(980)$ in the $π^+π^-$ system and the branching fraction of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e}$ with $f_0(980)\toπ^+π^-$ measured to be $(1.72 \pm 0.13_{\rm stat} \pm 0.10_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-3}$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The dynamics of the $D_{s}^{+} \to f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e}$ decay are studied with the simple pole parametrization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatté formula describing the $f_0(980)$ in the differential decay rate, and the product of the form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the $c\to s$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined for the first time to be $f^{f_0}_+(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504\pm0.017_{\rm stat}\pm0.035_{\rm syst}$. Furthermore, the decay $D^+_s\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ is searched for the first time but no signal is found. The upper limit on the branching fraction of $D^+_s\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e,~f_0(500)\toπ^+π^-$ decay is set to be $3.3 \times 10^{-4}$ at 90\% confidence level.

Measurement of the hyperon weak radiative decay $Ξ^0\toγΣ^0$ at BESIII

The hyperon weak radiative decay $Ξ^0\toγΣ^0$ is measured via the process $J/ψ\toΞ^0\barΞ^0$. The absolute branching fraction of $Ξ^0\toγΣ^0$ is determined to be $(3.69\pm 0.21_{\text{stat}}\pm0.12_{\text{syst}})\times 10^{-3}$, based on $(10.087\pm 0.044)\times 10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The decay asymmetry parameter is measured, with a complete angular analysis of the cascade decay chain, to be $α_γ = -0.807\pm 0.095_{\text{stat}}\pm 0.011_{\text{syst}}$.

Measurement of Born Cross Sections and Effective Form Factors of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^{+}$ from$\sqrt{s}$ = 3.7 to 4.7 GeV

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 22.7 fb$^{-1}$, collected at center-of-mass energies between 3.7 and 4.7 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we measure the energy-dependent Born cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$ and the effective form factors of the $Ω^-$ baryon. The analysis employs a single baryon tagging method, and the results are consistent with theoretical predictions, providing critical constraints on the electromagnetic structure of the $Ω^-$ hyperon. No significant signal of charmonium or charmonium-like states decaying to $Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$ is observed in the investigated energy range.

Observation of resonant contribution to the $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^{+}$ around 4.2 GeV and evidence of $ψ(3770)\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^{+}$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 22.7 fb$^{-1}$, collected at center-of-mass energies between 3.7 and 4.7 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present a measurement of energy-dependent cross sections and effective form factors for the process of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$. By conducting a fit to the cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$ considering the continuum and resonant contributions, a clear resonant structure in the spectrum around 4.2 GeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance exceeding 10$σ$, and it can be well described with the line shape of the $Y(4230)$ and $Y(4320)$ observed in $e^+e^-\to π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$. Evidence for the decay $ψ(3770) \to Ω^-\barΩ^{+}$ is observed with a statistical significance of 4.4$σ$ by analyzing the measured cross sections together with earlier BESIII results, and the branching fraction is firstly measured to be $(4.0\pm1.0\pm0.6)$ $\times$ $10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Test of local realism via entangled $Λ\barΛ$ system

The non-locality of quantum correlations is a fundamental feature of quantum theory. The Bell inequality serves as a benchmark for distinguishing between predictions made by quantum theory and local hidden variable theory (LHVT). Recent advancements in photon-entanglement experiments have addressed potential loopholes and have observed significant violations of variants of Bell inequality. However, examples of Bell inequalities violation in high energy physics are scarce. In this study, we utilize $(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BES-III detector at the BEPCII collider, performing non-local correlation tests using the entangled hyperon pairs. The massive-entangled $Λ\barΛ$ systems are formed and decay through strong and weak interactions, respectively. Through measurements of the angular distribution of $p\bar{p}$ in $J/ψ\to γη_c$ and subsequent $η_c\toΛ(pπ^-)\barΛ(\bar{p}π^{+})$ cascade decays, a significant violation of LHVT predictions is observed. The exclusion of LHVT is found to be statistically significant at a level exceeding $5.2σ$ in the testing of three Bell-like inequalities.

Observation and branching fraction measurement of the decay $J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0} + c.c.$

The first observation of the decays $J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0}$ and $J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow p \barΣ^{-} K_{S}^{0}$ is reported using $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J\!/\!ψ$ events recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The branching fractions of each channel are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0})=(1.361 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.025) \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow p \barΣ^{-} K_{S}^{0})=(1.352 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.025) \times 10^{-4}$. The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0} +c.c.)=(2.725 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.050) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The results presented are in good agreement with the branching fractions of the isospin partner decay $J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow p K^- \barΣ^0 + c.c.$.

Measurement of the Inclusive Cross Sections of Prompt $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ Production in $e^{+}e^{-}$ Annihilation from $\sqrt{s}=3.808$ to $4.951$ GeV

The inclusive cross sections of prompt $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ production are measured at center-of-mass energies from 3.808 to 4.951 GeV. The dataset used is 22 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The results obtained are in agreement with the previous BESIII measurements of exclusive $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ production. The average values obtained for the cross sections measured in the center-of-mass energy ranges from 4.527 to 4.951 GeV for $J/ψ$ and from 4.843 to 4.951 GeV for $ψ(3686)$, where the impact of known resonances is negligible, are $14.0\pm1.7\pm3.1$ pb and $15.3\pm3.0$ pb, respectively. For $J/ψ$, the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. For $ψ(3686)$, the uncertainty is total. These values are useful for testing charmonium production models.

Search for the decay $χ_{c1}(3872)\toπ^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}$

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.16 to 4.34 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the decay $χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}$ in the radiative production $e^{+}e^{-} \to γχ_{c1}(3872)$. No significant signal is observed, and the ratio for the branching fraction of $χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}$ to $χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ is measured as $\mathcal{R}\equiv\frac{\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}]}{\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-} J/ψ]}<0.18$ at 90$\%$ confidence level. The upper limit on the product of the cross section $σ[e^{+}e^{-}\toγχ_{c1}(3872)]$ and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(3872)\toπ^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}]$ at each center-of-mass energy is also given. These measurements favor the non-conventional charmonium nature of the $χ_{c1}(3872)$ state.

$\mathcal R(3780)$ Resonance Interpreted as the $1^3D_1$-Wave Dominant State of Charmonium from Precise Measurements of the Cross Section of $e^+e^-\rightarrow$ Hadrons

We report the precise measurements of the cross section of $e^+e^-\rightarrow$ hadrons at center-of-mass energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We thereby perform the most precise study of the cross sections and find a complex system composed of three resonances of $\mathcal R(3760)$, $\mathcal R(3780)$, and $\mathcal R(3810)$. For the first time, we measure the $\mathcal R(3810)$ electronic width to be $(19.4 \pm 7.4 \pm 12.1)$ eV. For the $\mathcal R(3760)$ resonance, we measure the mass to be $(3751.9\pm 3.8\pm 2.8)$ MeV/$c^2$, the total width to be $(32.8 \pm 5.8 \pm 8.7)$ MeV, and the electronic width to be $(184\pm 75\pm 86)$ eV. For the $\mathcal R(3780)$ resonance, we measure its mass to be $(3778.7\pm 0.5\pm 0.3)$ MeV/$c^2$, total width to be $(20.3 \pm 0.8 \pm 1.7)$ MeV, and electronic width to be $(265\pm 67\pm 83)$ eV. Forty-seven years ago, the $ψ(3770)$ resonance was discovered, and was subsequently interpreted as the $1^3D_1$-wave dominant state of charmonium. However, our analysis of the total-hadron cross sections indicates that the $ψ(3770)$ is not a single state, but a complex system composed of the $\mathcal R(3760)$, $\mathcal R(3780)$, and $\mathcal R(3810)$ resonances. Among these, we interpret the $\mathcal R(3780)$ is a resonance dominated by the $1^3D_1$ charmonium state.

Observation of an axial-vector state in the study of $ψ(3686) \to ϕηη'$ decay

Using (2712.4 $\pm$ 14.3)$\times 10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, a partial wave analysis of the decay $ψ(3686) \to ϕηη' $ is performed with the covariant tensor approach. An axial-vector state with a mass near 2.3 $\rm GeV/c^2$ is observed for the first time. Its mass and width are measured to be 2316 $\pm 9_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 30_{\mathrm{syst}}\,\rm MeV/c^2$ and 89 $\pm 15_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 26_{\mathrm{syst}}\,\rm MeV$, respectively. The product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \to X(2300) η') \mathcal{B}(X(2300)\to ϕη)$ and $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \to X(2300) η)\mathcal{B}(X(2300)\to ϕη')$ are determined to be (4.8 $\pm 1.3_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.7_{\mathrm{syst}})\times 10^{-6}$ and (2.2 $\pm 0.7_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.7_{\mathrm{syst}})\times 10^{-6}$, respectively. The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \to ϕηη')$ is measured for the first time to be (3.14$\pm0.17_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm0.24_{\mathrm{syst}})\times10^{-5}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Precise Measurement of Born Cross Sections for $e^+e^-\to D\bar{D}$ at $\sqrt{s} = 3.80-4.95$ GeV

Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.80 to 4.95 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20 fb$^{-1}$, a measurement of Born cross sections for the $e^+e^-\to D^{0}\bar{D}^{0}$ and $D^{+}D^{-}$ processes is presented with unprecedented precision. Many clear peaks in the line shape of $e^+e^-\to D^{0}\bar{D}^{0}$ and $D^{+}D^{-}$ around the mass range of $G(3900)$, $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $Y(4260)$, and $ψ(4415)$, etc., are foreseen. These results offer crucial experimental insights into the nature of hadron production in the open-charm region.

The average ratio is determined to be $(0.59\pm0.10(\text{stat.})\pm0.04(\text{syst.}))\%$, where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic components.

Evidence of the Singly Cabibbo Suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$

Evidence for the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is reported for the first time with a statistical significance of $3.7σ$ based on 6.0 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.843 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The absolute branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is measured to be $(1.56^{+0.72}_{-0.58}\pm0.20)\times 10^{-4}$. Combining with the branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$, $(6.6\pm1.3)\times10^{-4}$, the ratio of the branching fractions of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$ and $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is calculated to be $3.2^{+2.2}_{-1.2}$. As an important input for the theoretical models describing the decay mechanisms of charmed baryons, our result indicates that the non-factorizable contributions play an essential role and their interference with the factorizable contributions should not be significant. In addition, the absolute branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to pη$ is measured to be $(1.63\pm0.31_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-3}$.

First Observation of a Three-Resonance Structure in $e^+e^-\rightarrow$Nonopen Charm Hadrons

We report the measurement of the inclusive cross sections for $e^+e^-$$\rightarrow$nOCH (where nOCH denotes non-open charm hadrons) with improved precision at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We observe three resonances: $\mathcal R(3760)$, $\mathcal R(3780)$, and $\mathcal R(3810)$ with significances of $8.1σ$, $13.7σ$, and $8.8σ$, respectively. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state is observed for the first time, while the $\mathcal R(3760)$ and $\mathcal R(3780)$ states are observed for the first time in the nOCH cross sections. Two sets of resonance parameters describe the energy-dependent line shape of the cross sections well. In set I [set II], the $\mathcal R(3810)$ state has mass $(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$ [$(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$] MeV/$c^2$, total width $(11.6 \pm 2.9 \pm 1.9)$ [$(11.5 \pm 2.8 \pm 1.9)$] MeV, and an electronic width multiplied by the nOCH decay branching fraction of $(10.9\pm 3.8\pm 2.5)$ [$(11.0\pm 3.4\pm 2.5)$] eV. In addition, we measure the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}[{\mathcal R}(3760)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(25.2 \pm 16.1 \pm 30.4)\% [(6.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.7)\%]$ and ${\mathcal B}[\mathcal R(3780)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(12.3 \pm 6.6 \pm 8.3)\% [(10.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.0)\%]$ for the first time. The $\mathcal R(3760)$ state can be interpreted as an open-charm (OC) molecular state, but containing a simple four-quark state component. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state can be interpreted as a hadrocharmonium state.

Observation of the Singly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{-}K^{+}π^{+}$

The singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{-}K^{+}π^{+}$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.4σ$ by using 4.5 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{-}K^{+}π^{+}$ is measured to be $(3.8\pm1.3_{\rm stat}\pm0.2_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$ in a model-independent approach. This is the first observation of a Cabibbo-suppressed $Λ_{c}^{+}$ decay involving $Σ^-$ in the final state. The ratio of branching fractions between $Λ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^{-}K^{+}π^{+}$ and the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\to Σ^- π^+π^+$ is calculated to be $(0.4 \pm 0.1)s_{c}^{2}$, where $s_{c} \equiv \sinθ_c = 0.2248$ with $θ_c$ the Cabibbo mixing angle. This ratio significantly deviates from $1.0s_{c}^{2}$ and provides important information for the understanding of nonfactorization contributions in $Λ_{c}^{+}$ decays.
