A Flat Dual-Polarized Millimeter-Wave Luneburg Lens Antenna Using Transformation Optics with Reduced Anisotropy and Impedance Mismatch

In this paper, a compact wideband dual-polarized Luneburg lens antenna (LLA) with reduced anisotropy and improved impedance matching is proposed in Ka band with a wide 2D beamscanning capability. Based on transformation optics, the spherical Luneburg lens is compressed into a cylindrical one, while the merits of high gain, broad band, wide scanning, and free polarization are preserved. A trigonometric function is employed to the material property of the flattened Luneburg lens with reduced anisotropy, thus effectively alleviates the strong reflection, the high sidelobes and back radiation with a free cost on the antenna weight and volume. Furthermore, a light thin wideband 7-by-1 metasurface phased array is studied as the primary feed for the LLA. The proposed metantenna, shorted for metamaterial-based antenna, has a high potential for B5G, future wireless communication and radar sensing as an onboard system.

Large Deviation Principle for Multi-Scale Fully Local Monotone Stochastic Dynamical Systems with Multiplicative Noise

This paper is devoted to proving the small noise asymptotic behaviour, particularly large deviation principle, for multi-scale stochastic dynamical systems with fully local monotone coefficients driven by multiplicative noise. The main techniques are based on a combination of the weak convergence approach, the time discretization technique and the theory of pseudo-monotone operator. The main results derived in this paper have broad applicability to various multi-scale models, where the slow component could be such as stochastic porous medium equations, stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equations and stochastic 2D Liquid crystal equations.

Joint Design of ISAC Waveform under PAPR Constraints

In this paper, we formulate the precoding problem of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) waveform as a non-convex quadratically constrainted quadratic program (QCQP), in which the weighted sum of communication multi-user interference (MUI) and the gap between dual-use waveform and ideal radar waveform is minimized with peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) constraints. We propose an efficient algorithm based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), which is able to decouple multiple variables and provide a closed-form solution for each subproblem. In addition, to improve the sensing performance in both spatial and temporal domains, we propose a new criteria to design the ideal radar waveform, in which the beam pattern is made similar to the ideal one and the integrated sidelobe level of the ambiguity function in each target direction is minimized in the region of interest. The limited memory Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (L-BFGS) algorithm is applied to the design of the ideal radar waveform which works as a reference in the design of the dual-function waveform. Numerical results indicate that the designed dual-function waveform is capable of offering good communication quality of service (QoS) and sensing performance.

McKean-Vlasov SDE and SPDE with Locally Monotone Coefficients

In this paper we mainly investigate the strong and weak well-posedness of a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic (partial) differential equations. The main existence and uniqueness results state that we only need to impose some local assumptions on the coefficients, i.e. locally monotone condition both in state variable and distribution variable, which cause some essential difficulty since the coefficients of McKean-Vlasov stochastic equations typically are nonlocal. Furthermore, the large deviation principle is also derived for the McKean-Vlasov stochastic equations under those weak assumptions. The wide applications of main results are illustrated by various concrete examples such as the granular media equations, plasma type models, kinetic equations, McKean-Vlasov type porous media equations and Navier-Stokes equations. In particular, we could remove or relax some typical assumptions previously imposed on those models.

Evaluating residual acceleration noise for TianQin gravitational waves observatory with an empirical magnetic field model

TianQin (TQ) project plans to deploy three satellites in space around the Earth to measure the displacement change of test masses caused by gravitational waves via laser interferometry. The requirement of the acceleration noise of the test mass is on the order of $10^{-15}~\,{\rm m}\,{\rm s}^{-2}\,{\rm Hz}^{-1/2}$ in the sensitive frequency range of TQ, %the extremely precise acceleration measurement requirements make it necessary to investigate acceleration noise due to space magnetic fields. which is so stringent that the acceleration noise caused by the interaction of the space magnetic field with the test mass needs to be investigated. In this work, by using the Tsyganenko model, a data-based empirical space magnetic field model, we obtain the magnetic field distribution around TQ's orbit spanning two solar cycles in 23 years from 1998 to 2020. With the obtained space magnetic field, we derive the distribution and amplitude spectral densities (ASDs) of the acceleration noise of TQ in 23 years. Our results reveal that the average values of the ratio of the acceleration noise cauesd by the space magnetic field to the requirements of TQ at 1 mHz ($R_{\rm 1mHz}$) and 6 mHz ($R_{\rm 6mHz}$) are 0.123$\pm$0.052 and 0.027$\pm$0.013, respectively. The occurence probabilities of $R_{\rm 1mHz}>0.2$ and $>0.3$ are only 7.9% and 1.2%, respectively, and $R_{\rm 6mHz}$ never exceeds 0.2.

Novel Cosmological Joint Constraints in Multidimensional Observables Space with Redshift-free Inferences

Cosmology constraints serve as a crucial criterion in discriminating cosmological models. The traditional combined method to constrain the cosmological parameters designates the corresponding theoretical value and observational data as functions of redshift, however, sometimes the redshift cannot be measured directly, or the measurement error is large, or the definition of redshift is controversial. In this paper, we propose a novel joint method to constrain parameters that eliminates the redshift $z$ and makes full use of the multiple observables $\left\lbrace \mathcal{F}_{1,\mathrm{obs}},\mathcal{F}_{2,\mathrm{obs}},\cdots,\mathcal{F}_{M,\mathrm{obs}}\right\rbrace$ spanning in $M$-dimensional joint observables space. Considering the generality of the mathematical form of the cosmological models and the guidance from low to high dimensions, we firstly validate our method in a three-dimensional joint observables space spanned by $H(z)$, $fσ_{8}(z)$ and $D_{A}(z)$, where the three coordinates can be considered redshift-free measurements of the same celestial body (or shared-redshift data reconstructed model independently). Our results are consistent with the traditional combined method but with lower errors, yielding $H_0=68.7\pm0.1\mathrm{~km} \mathrm{~s}^{-1}\mathrm{~Mpc}^{-1}$, $Ω_{m0}=0.289\pm0.003$, $σ_{8}=0.82\pm0.01$ and showing alleviated parametric degeneracies to some extent. In principle, our joint constraint method allows an extended form keeping the redshift information as an independent coordinate and can also be readily degraded to the form of a traditional combined method to constrain parameters.

Central Limit Type Theorem and Large Deviation Principle for Multi-Scale McKean-Vlasov SDEs

In this paper, we aim to study the asymptotic behavior for multi-scale McKean-Vlasov stochastic dynamical systems. Firstly, we obtain a central limit type theorem, i.e, the deviation between the slow component $X^{\varepsilon}$ and the solution $\bar{X}$ of the averaged equation converges weakly to a limiting process. More precisely, $\frac{X^{\varepsilon}-\bar{X}}{\sqrt{\varepsilon}}$ converges weakly in $C([0,T],\RR^n)$ to the solution of certain distribution dependent stochastic differential equation, which involves an extra explicit stochastic integral term. Secondly, in order to estimate the probability of deviations away from the limiting process, we further investigate the Freidlin-Wentzell's large deviation principle for multi-scale McKean-Vlasov stochastic system. The main techniques are based on the Poisson equation for central limit type theorem and the weak convergence approach for large deviation principle.

Diagnosis of Fast Electron Transport by Coherent Transition Radiation

Transport of fast electron in overdense plasmas is of key importance in high energy density physics. However, it is challenging to diagnose the fast electron transport in experiments. In this article, we study coherent transition radiation (CTR) generated by fast electrons on the back surface of the target by using 2D and 3D first-principle particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations. In our simulations, aluminium target of 2.7 g/cc is simulated in two different situations by using a newly developed high order implicit PIC code. Comparing realistic simulations containing collision and ionization effects, artificial simulations without taking collision and ionization effects into account significantly underestimate the energy loss of electron beam when transporting in the target, which fail to describe the complete characteristics of CTR produced by electron beam on the back surface of the target. Realistic simulations indicate the diameter of CTR increases when the thickness of the target is increased. This is attributed to synergetic energy losses of high flux fast electrons due to Ohm heatings and colliding drags, which appear quite significant even when the thickness of the solid target only differs by micrometers. Especially, when the diagnosing position is fixed, we find that the intensity distribution of the CTR is also a function of time, with the diameter increased with time. As the diameter of CTR is related to the speed of electrons passing through the back surface of the target, our finding may be used as a new tool to diagnose the electron energy spectra near the surface of solid density plasmas.

Observational Appearances of Magnetically Charged Black Holes in Born-Infeld Electrodynamics

In this paper, we investigate the observational appearances of magnetically charged black holes in Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics. We examine the effects of the magnetic charge and the BI parameter on the geodesics with different impact parameters. Using the backward ray tracing method, we investigate how spherically symmetric accretions interact with black hole shadows and photon spheres. The shadows of infalling accretion are darker than that of static ones. And the radius of the photon sphere is an intrinsic property of the spacetime that is independent of accretions. We then study how the thin disk models affect the black hole shadows. After obtaining the transfer functions, we divide photons emitted from the thin disk into three categories: direct emission, lens ring, and photon ring. Applying three emission models, we find that the width of the shadow is dominated by the direct emission, the photon ring and the lens ring can hardly be identified by changing the emission models.

Diffusion Approximation for Multi-Scale McKean-Vlasov SDEs Through Different Methods

In this paper, we aim to study the diffusion approximation for multi-scale McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. More precisely, we prove the weak convergence of slow process $X^\varepsilon$ in $C([0,T];\mathbb{R}^n)$ towards the limiting process $X$ that is the solution of a distribution dependent stochastic differential equation in which some new drift and diffusion terms compared to the original equation appear. The main contribution is to use two different methods to explicitly characterize the limiting equations respectively. The obtained diffusion coefficients in the limiting equations have different form through these two methods, however it will be asserted that they are essential the same by a comparison.

Motion-Aware Transformer For Occluded Person Re-identification

Recently, occluded person re-identification(Re-ID) remains a challenging task that people are frequently obscured by other people or obstacles, especially in a crowd massing situation. In this paper, we propose a self-supervised deep learning method to improve the location performance for human parts through occluded person Re-ID. Unlike previous works, we find that motion information derived from the photos of various human postures can help identify major human body components. Firstly, a motion-aware transformer encoder-decoder architecture is designed to obtain keypoints heatmaps and part-segmentation maps. Secondly, an affine transformation module is utilized to acquire motion information from the keypoint detection branch. Then the motion information will support the segmentation branch to achieve refined human part segmentation maps, and effectively divide the human body into reasonable groups. Finally, several cases demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed model in distinguishing different representative parts of the human body, which can avoid the background and occlusion disturbs. Our method consistently achieves state-of-the-art results on several popular datasets, including occluded, partial, and holistic.

Strong Convergence Rates in Averaging Principle for Slow-Fast McKean-Vlasov SPDEs

In this paper, we aim to study the asymptotic behaviour for a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations with slow and fast time-scales. Using the variational approach and classical Khasminskii time discretization, we show that the slow component strongly converges to the solution of the associated averaged equation. In particular, the corresponding convergence rates are also obtained. The main results can be applied to demonstrate the averaging principle for various McKean-Vlasov nonlinear SPDEs such as stochastic porous media type equation, stochastic $p$-Laplace type equation and also some McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations.

Method of distinguishing between black holes and wormholes

Beginning with a brief review of the regular space-time with asymptotically Minkowski core, we can consider two copies of the space-time connected through a short-throat wormhole whose radius of mouth is equal to or larger than an extremal regular black hole with asymptotically Minkowski core's event horizon radius. If the wormhole is traversable and smooth, fluxes in these two space-times will interact with and flow into each other. On the cosmological scale, gravity is a candidate for the flux. As the gravitational field changes in one space-time, the behaviours of stars around the wormhole will be affected by the other space-time since we assume there exists enough exotic matter to keep the wormhole open. The changes in a gravitational field can be quantized through the gauge invariant perturbations. The variances in orbits of stars can be reflected by changes in the kinematic shifts of photon frequencies. Then, we use this to distinguish between the black hole and wormhole generated by the same space-time line element, since black hole can not connect two space-times and is unaffected by other space-time.

Freidlin-Wentzell Type Large Deviation Principle for Multi-Scale Locally Monotone SPDEs

This work is concerned with Freidlin-Wentzell type large deviation principle for a family of multi-scale quasilinear and semilinear stochastic partial differential equations. Employing the weak convergence method and Khasminskii's time discretization approach, the Laplace principle (equivalently, large deviation principle) for a general class of multi-scale SPDEs is derived. In particular, we succeed in dropping the compactness assumption of embedding in the Gelfand triple in order to deal with the case of bounded and unbounded domains in applications. Our main results are applicable to various multi-scale SPDE models such as stochastic porous media equations, stochastic p-Laplace equations, stochastic fast-diffusion equations, stochastic 2D hydrodynamical type models, stochastic power law fluid equations and stochastic Ladyzhenskaya models.

Large Deviation Principle for McKean-Vlasov Quasilinear Stochastic Evolution Equations

This paper is devoted to investigating the Freidlin-Wentzell's large deviation principle for a class of McKean-Vlasov quasilinear SPDEs perturbed by small multiplicative noise. We adopt the variational framework and the modified weak convergence criteria to prove the Laplace principle for McKean-Vlasov type SPDEs, which is equivalent to the large deviation principle. Moreover, we do not assume any compactness condition of embedding in the Gelfand triple to handle both the cases of bounded and unbounded domains in applications. The main results can be applied to various McKean-Vlasov type SPDEs such as distribution dependent stochastic porous media type equations and stochastic p-Laplace type equations.

The vector space of holomorphic polyvector fields on any complex manifold has a natural Gerstenhaber algebra structure. In this paper, we study BV operators of the Gerstenhaber algebras of holomorphic polyvector fields on smooth compact toric varieties. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of BV operators of the Gerstenhaber algebra of holomorphic polyvector fields on any smooth compact toric variety.
