WakeMint: Detecting Sleepminting Vulnerabilities in NFT Smart Contracts

The non-fungible tokens (NFTs) market has evolved over the past decade, with NFTs serving as unique digital identifiers on a blockchain that certify ownership and authenticity. However, their high value also attracts attackers who exploit vulnerabilities in NFT smart contracts for illegal profits, thereby harming the NFT ecosystem. One notable vulnerability in NFT smart contracts is sleepminting, which allows attackers to illegally transfer others' tokens. Although some research has been conducted on sleepminting, these studies are basically qualitative analyses or based on historical transaction data. There is a lack of understanding from the contract code perspective, which is crucial for identifying such issues and preventing attacks before they occur. To address this gap, in this paper, we categoriz four distinct types of sleepminting in NFT smart contracts. Each type is accompanied by a comprehensive definition and illustrative code examples to provide how these vulnerabilities manifest within the contract code. Furthermore, to help detect the defined defects before the sleepminting problem occurrence, we propose a tool named WakeMint, which is built on a symbolic execution framework and is designed to be compatible with both high and low versions of Solidity. The tool also employs a pruning strategy to shorten the detection period. Additionally, WakeMint gathers some key information, such as the owner of an NFT and emissions of events related to the transfer of the NFT's ownership during symbolic execution. Then, it analyzes the features of the transfer function based on this information so that it can judge the existence of sleepminting. We ran WakeMint on 11,161 real-world NFT smart contracts and evaluated the results. We found 115 instances of sleepminting issues in total, and the precision of our tool is 87.8%.

A Representation Transformation of Parametric Feynman Integrals

A transformation on homogeneous polynomials is proposed, which is further applied to parametric Feynman integrals. The two representations related through this transformation are dual to each other. It naturally leads to dualities of Landau equations and linear integral relations between the two representations. For integrals with momentum-space correspondences, the dual representation is equivalent to the Baikov representation.

Joint Size and Placement Optimization for IRS-Aided Communications with Active and Passive Elements

Different types of intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) are exploited for assisting wireless communications. The joint use of passive IRS (PIRS) and active IRS (AIRS) emerges as a promising solution owing to their complementary advantages. They can be integrated into a single hybrid active-passive IRS (HIRS) or deployed in a distributed manner, which poses challenges in determining the IRS element allocation and placement for rate maximization. In this paper, we investigate the capacity of an IRS-aided wireless communication system with both active and passive elements. Specifically, we consider three deployment schemes: 1) base station (BS)-HIRS-user (BHU); 2) BS-AIRS-PIRS-user (BAPU); 3) BS-PIRS-AIRS-user (BPAU). Under the line-of-sight channel model, we formulate a rate maximization problem via a joint optimization of the IRS element allocation and placement. We first derive the optimized number of active and passive elements for BHU, BAPU, and BPAU schemes, respectively. Then, low-complexity HIRS/AIRS placement strategies are provided. To obtain more insights, we characterize the system capacity scaling orders for the three schemes with respect to the large total number of IRS elements, amplification power budget, and BS transmit power. Finally, simulation results are presented to validate our theoretical findings and show the performance difference among the BHU, BAPU, and BPAU schemes with the proposed joint design under various system setups.

Research on the Offshore Marine Communication Environment Based on Satellite Remote Sensing Data

Air-sea interface fluxes significantly impact the reliability and efficiency of maritime communication. Compared to sparse in-situ ocean observations, satellite remote sensing data offers broader coverage and extended temporal span. This study utilizes COARE V3.5 algorithm to calculate momentum flux, sensible heat flux, and latent heat flux at the air-sea interface, based on satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) wind speed data, reanalysis data, and buoy measurements, combined with neural network methods. Findings indicate that SAR wind speed data corrected via neural networks show improved consistency with buoy-measured wind speeds in flux calculations. Specifically, the bias in friction velocity decreased from -0.03 m/s to 0.01 m/s, wind stress bias from -0.03 N/m^2 to 0.00 N/m^2, drag coefficient bias from -0.29 to -0.21, latent heat flux bias from -8.32 W/m^2 to 5.41 W/m^2, and sensible heat flux bias from 0.67 W/m^2 to 0.06 W/m^2. Results suggest that the neural network-corrected SAR wind speed data can provide more reliable environmental data for maritime communication.

Bursting Filter Bubble: Enhancing Serendipity Recommendations with Aligned Large Language Models

Recommender systems (RSs) often suffer from the feedback loop phenomenon, e.g., RSs are trained on data biased by their recommendations. This leads to the filter bubble effect that reinforces homogeneous content and reduces user satisfaction. To this end, serendipity recommendations, which offer unexpected yet relevant items, are proposed. Recently, large language models (LLMs) have shown potential in serendipity prediction due to their extensive world knowledge and reasoning capabilities. However, they still face challenges in aligning serendipity judgments with human assessments, handling long user behavior sequences, and meeting the latency requirements of industrial RSs. To address these issues, we propose SERAL (Serendipity Recommendations with Aligned Large Language Models), a framework comprising three stages: (1) Cognition Profile Generation to compress user behavior into multi-level profiles; (2) SerenGPT Alignment to align serendipity judgments with human preferences using enriched training data; and (3) Nearline Adaptation to integrate SerenGPT into industrial RSs pipelines efficiently. Online experiments demonstrate that SERAL improves exposure ratio (PVR), clicks, and transactions of serendipitous items by 5.7%, 29.56%, and 27.6%, enhancing user experience without much impact on overall revenue. Now, it has been fully deployed in the "Guess What You Like" of the Taobao App homepage.

Unregulated Divergences of Feynman Integrals

Feynman integrals can be expanded asymptotically with respect to some small parameters at the integrand level, a technique known as the expansion by regions. A naive expansion by regions may break down due to divergences not regulated by the spacetime dimension, exemplified by the rapidity divergences. A criterion to identify unregulated divergences is provided in this article. The analysis is conducted using both parametric and Mellin-Barnes representations, leading to a consistent conclusion. Based on this analysis, it is proven that the presence of unregulated divergences implies the degeneracies of regions.

Vehicular Multi-Tier Distributed Computing with Hybrid THz-RF Transmission in Satellite-Terrestrial Integrated Networks

In this paper, we propose a Satellite-Terrestrial Integrated Network (STIN) assisted vehicular multi-tier distributed computing (VMDC) system leveraging hybrid terahertz (THz) and radio frequency (RF) communication technologies. Task offloading for satellite edge computing is enabled by THz communication using the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technique. For terrestrial edge computing, we employ non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and vehicle clustering to realize task offloading. We formulate a non-convex optimization problem aimed at maximizing computation efficiency by jointly optimizing bandwidth allocation, task allocation, subchannel-vehicle matching and power allocation. To address this non-convex optimization problem, we decompose the original problem into four sub-problems and solve them using an alternating iterative optimization approach. For the subproblem of task allocation, we solve it by linear programming. To solve the subproblem of sub-channel allocation, we exploit many-to-one matching theory to obtain the result. The subproblem of bandwidth allocation of OFDMA and the subproblem of power allocation of NOMA are solved by quadratic transformation method. Finally, the simulation results show that our proposed scheme significantly enhances the computation efficiency of the STIN-based VMDC system compared with the benchmark schemes.

Elements Allocation for Joint Active and Passive IRS Aided Wireless Communications: A Rate-Maximization Perspective

Unlike previous works that focused solely on passive intelligent reflecting surface (PIRS) or active IRS (AIRS), a novel joint AIRS and PIRS architecture has been developed to flexibly utilize their combined advantages in mitigating multiplicative path loss cost-effectively. In this paper, we consider the AIRS-PIRS jointly aided wireless point-to-point communication system with two different deployment schemes in three-dimensional (3D) space. To balance the trade-off between the square-order beamforming gain of PIRS and the unique power amplification gain of AIRS, we optimize the elements allocation and beamforming design of the two IRSs under various practical constraints from a rate-maximization perspective. Moreover, we derive a series of element-related closed-form analytical expressions and compare the performance of the two schemes. Our analysis shows that in both schemes, PIRS should be allocated more elements than AIRS, and the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) increases asymptotically with the cube of the number of reflecting elements, when the distance between AIRS and PIRS is sufficiently large. Last, simulation results validate our analysis and indicate that both schemes can achieve superior rate performance over various benchmarks.

Exploring the wettability of liquid iron on refractory oxides with sessile drop technique and density-functional derived Hamaker constants

The macroscopic interactions of liquid iron and solid oxides, such as alumina, calcia, magnesia, silica, and zirconia manifest the behavior and efficiency of high-temperature metallurgical processes. The oxides serve dual roles, both as components of refractory materials in submerged entry nozzles and also as significant constituents of non-metallic inclusions in the melt. It is therefore crucial to understand the physicochemical interplay between the liquid and the oxides in order to address the nozzle clogging challenges, and thereby optimize cast iron and steel production. This paper presents a methodology for describing these interactions by combining the materials' dielectric responses, computed within the density functional theory, with the Casimir-Lifshitz dispersion forces to generate the Hamaker constants. The approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the wettability of iron against these refractory oxides, revealing the complex relation between molecular and macroscopic properties. Our theoretically determined crystalline structures are confirmed by room-temperature X-ray diffraction, and the contact angles of liquid iron on the oxides are validated with a sessile drop system at the temperature 1823 K. For comparison, we also present the wettability of the oxides by a liquid tin-bismuth alloy. The findings are essential in advancing the fundamental understanding of interfacial interactions in metallurgical science, and are also pivotal in driving the development of more efficient and reliable steelmaking processes.

Enhancing Robustness and Security in ISAC Network Design: Leveraging Transmissive Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface with RSMA

In this paper, we propose a novel transmissive reconfigurable intelligent surface transceiver-enhanced robust and secure integrated sensing and communication network. A time-division sensing communication mechanism is designed for the scenario, which enables communication and sensing to share wireless resources. To address the interference management problem and hinder eavesdropping, we implement rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA), where the common stream is designed as a useful signal and an artificial noise, while taking into account the imperfect channel state information and modeling the channel for the illegal users in a fine-grained manner as well as giving an upper bound on the error. We introduce the secrecy outage probability and construct an optimization problem with secrecy sum-rate as the objective functions to optimize the common stream beamforming matrix, the private stream beamforming matrix and the timeslot duration variable. Due to the coupling of the optimization variables and the infinity of the error set, the proposed problem is a nonconvex optimization problem that cannot be solved directly. In order to address the above challenges, the block coordinate descent-based second-order cone programming algorithm is used to decouple the optimization variables and solving the problem. Specifically, the problem is decoupled into two subproblems concerning the common stream beamforming matrix, the private stream beamforming matrix, and the timeslot duration variable, which are solved by alternating optimization until convergence is reached. To solve the problem, S-procedure, Bernstein's inequality and successive convex approximation are employed to deal with the objective function and non-convex constraints. Numerical simulation results verify the superiority of the proposed scheme in improving the secrecy energy efficiency and the Cramér-Rao boundary.

Decision Transformers for RIS-Assisted Systems with Diffusion Model-Based Channel Acquisition

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have been recognized as a revolutionary technology for future wireless networks. However, RIS-assisted communications have to continuously tune phase-shifts relying on accurate channel state information (CSI) that is generally difficult to obtain due to the large number of RIS channels. The joint design of CSI acquisition and subsection RIS phase-shifts remains a significant challenge in dynamic environments. In this paper, we propose a diffusion-enhanced decision Transformer (DEDT) framework consisting of a diffusion model (DM) designed for efficient CSI acquisition and a decision Transformer (DT) utilized for phase-shift optimizations. Specifically, we first propose a novel DM mechanism, i.e., conditional imputation based on denoising diffusion probabilistic model, for rapidly acquiring real-time full CSI by exploiting the spatial correlations inherent in wireless channels. Then, we optimize beamforming schemes based on the DT architecture, which pre-trains on historical environments to establish a robust policy model. Next, we incorporate a fine-tuning mechanism to ensure rapid beamforming adaptation to new environments, eliminating the retraining process that is imperative in conventional reinforcement learning (RL) methods. Simulation results demonstrate that DEDT can enhance efficiency and adaptability of RIS-aided communications with fluctuating channel conditions compared to state-of-the-art RL methods.

Static IRS Meets Distributed MIMO: A New Architecture for Dynamic Beamforming

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) has been considered as a revolutionary technology to enhance the wireless communication performance. To cater for multiple mobile users, adjusting IRS beamforming patterns over time, i.e., dynamic IRS beamforming (DIBF), is generally needed for achieving satisfactory performance, which results in high controlling power consumption and overhead. To avoid such cost, we propose a new architecture based on the static regulated IRS for wireless coverage enhancement, where the principle of distributed multiple-input multiple-output (D-MIMO) is integrated into the system to exploite the diversity of spatial directions provided by multiple access points (APs). For this new D-MIMO empowered static IRS architecture, the total target area is partitioned into several subareas and each subarea is served by an assigned AP. We consider to maximize the worst-case received power over all locations in the target area by jointly optimizing a single set of IRS beamforming pattern and AP-subarea association. Then, a two-step algorithm is proposed to obtain its high-quality solution. Theoretical analysis unveils that the fundamental squared power gain can still be achieved over all locations in the target area. The performance gap relative to the DIBF scheme is also analytically quantified. Numerical results validate our theoretical findings and demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed design over benchmark schemes.

Throughput Maximization for UAV-enabled Integrated Periodic Sensing and Communication

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is expected to revolutionize the existing integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system and promise a more flexible joint design. Nevertheless, the existing works on ISAC mainly focus on exploring the performance of both functionalities simultaneously during the entire considered period, which may ignore the practical asymmetric sensing and communication requirements. In particular, always forcing sensing along with communication may make it is harder to balance between these two functionalities due to shared spectrum resources and limited transmit power. To address this issue, we propose a new integrated periodic sensing and communication mechanism for the UAV-enabled ISAC system to provide a more flexible trade-off between two integrated functionalities. Specifically, the system achievable rate is maximized via jointly optimizing UAV trajectory, user association, target sensing selection, and transmit beamforming, while meeting the sensing frequency and beam pattern gain requirement for the given targets. Despite that this problem is highly non-convex and involves closely coupled integer variables, we derive the closed-form optimal beamforming vector to dramatically reduce the complexity of beamforming design, and present a tight lower bound of the achievable rate to facilitate UAV trajectory design. Based on the above results, we propose a penalty-based algorithm to efficiently solve the considered problem. The optimal achievable rate and the optimal UAV location are analyzed under a special case of infinity number of antennas. Furthermore, we prove the structural symmetry between the optimal solutions in different ISAC frames without location constraints and propose an efficient algorithm for solving the problem with location constraints.

Movable Intelligent Surface (MIS) for Wireless Communications: Architecture, Modeling, Algorithm, and Prototyping

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces enhance wireless systems by reshaping propagation environments. However, dynamic metasurfaces (MSs) with numerous phase-shift elements incur undesired control and hardware costs. In contrast, static MSs (SMSs), configured with static phase shifts pre-designed for specific communication demands, offer a cost-effective alternative by eliminating element-wise tuning. Nevertheless, SMSs typically support a single beam pattern with limited flexibility. In this paper, we propose a novel Movable Intelligent Surface (MIS) technology that enables dynamic beamforming while maintaining static phase shifts. Specifically, we design a MIS architecture comprising two closely stacked transmissive MSs: a larger fixed-position MS 1 and a smaller movable MS 2. By differentially shifting MS 2's position relative to MS 1, the MIS synthesizes distinct beam patterns. Then, we model the interaction between MS 2 and MS 1 using binary selection matrices and padding vectors and formulate a new optimization problem that jointly designs the MIS phase shifts and selects shifting positions for worst-case signal-to-noise ratio maximization. This position selection, equal to beam pattern scheduling, offers a new degree of freedom for RIS-aided systems. To solve the intractable problem, we develop an efficient algorithm that handles unit-modulus and binary constraints and employs manifold optimization methods. Finally, extensive validation results are provided. We implement a MIS prototype and perform proof-of-concept experiments, demonstrating the MIS's ability to synthesize desired beam patterns that achieve one-dimensional beam steering. Numerical results show that by introducing MS 2 with a few elements, MIS effectively offers beamforming flexibility for significantly improved performance. We also draw insights into the optimal MIS configuration and element allocation strategy.

Efficient Joint Precoding Design for Wideband Intelligent Reflecting Surface-Assisted Cell-Free Network

In this paper, we propose an efficient joint precoding design method to maximize the weighted sum-rate in wideband intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted cell-free networks by jointly optimizing the active beamforming of base stations and the passive beamforming of IRS. Due to employing wideband transmissions, the frequency selectivity of IRSs has to been taken into account, whose response usually follows a Lorentzian-like profile. To address the high-dimensional non-convex optimization problem, we employ a fractional programming approach to decouple the non-convex problem into subproblems for alternating optimization between active and passive beamforming. The active beamforming subproblem is addressed using the consensus alternating direction method of multipliers (CADMM) algorithm, while the passive beamforming subproblem is tackled using the accelerated projection gradient (APG) method and Flecher-Reeves conjugate gradient method (FRCG). Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed approach achieves significant improvements in weighted sum-rate under various performance metrics compared to primal-dual subgradient (PDS) with ideal reflection matrix. This study provides valuable insights for computational complexity reduction and network capacity enhancement.

Distributed Massive MIMO-Aided Task Offloading in Satellite-Terrestrial Integrated Multi-Tier VEC Networks

This paper proposes a distributed massive multiple input multiple-output (DM-MIMO) aided multi-tier vehicular edge computing (VEC) system. In particular, each vehicle terminal (VT) offloads its computational task to the roadside unit (RSU) by orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), which can be computed locally at the RSU and offloaded to the central processing unit (CPU) via massive satellite access points (SAPs) for remote computation. By considering the partial task offloading model, we consider the joint optimization of the task offloading, subchannel allocation and precoding optimization to minimize the total cost in terms of total delay and energy consumption. To solve this non-convex problem, we transform the original problem into three sub-problems and use the alternate optimization algorithm to solve it. First, we transform the subcarrier allocation problem of discrete variables into convex optimization problem of continuous variables. Then, we use multiple quadratic transformations and Lagrange multiplier method to transform the non-convex subproblem of optimizing precoding vectors into a convex problem, while the task offloading subproblem is a convex problem. Given the subcarrier and the task allocation and precoding result, we finally find the joint optimized results by iterative optimization algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm is superior to other benchmarks.

Space-Time-Modulated Wideband Radiation-Type Programmable Metasurface for Low Sidelobe Beamforming

Programmable metasurfaces promise a great potential to construct low-cost phased array systems due to the capability of elaborate modulation over electromagnetic (EM) waves. However, they are in either reflective or transmissive mode, and usually possess a relatively high profile as a result of the external feed source. Besides, it is difficult to conduct multibit phase shift in metasurfaces, when comparing with conventional phased arrays. Here, we propose a strategy of space-time modulated wideband radiation-type programmable metasurface for low side-lobe beamforming. The wideband programmable metasurface avoids the space-feed external source required by its traditional counterpart, thus achieving a significant reduction of profile through integration of a highefficiency microwave-fed excitation network and metasurface. Furthermore, through introducing space-time-modulated strategy, the high-accuracy amplitude-phase weight algorithm can also be synchronously carried out on the first harmonic component for low side-lobe beam-scanning. Most importantly, adaptive beamforming and generation of interference null can further be created after analyzing the harmonic component characteristics of received signals.

Throughput Maximization for Movable Antenna Systems with Movement Delay Consideration

In this paper, we model the minimum achievable throughput within a transmission block of restricted duration and aim to maximize it in movable antenna (MA)-enabled multiuser downlink communications. Particularly, we account for the antenna moving delay caused by mechanical movement, which has not been fully considered in previous studies, and reveal the trade-off between the delay and signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio at users. To this end, we first consider a single-user setup to analyze the necessity of antenna movement. By quantizing the virtual angles of arrival, we derive the requisite region size for antenna moving, design the initial MA position, and elucidate the relationship between quantization resolution and moving region size. Furthermore, an efficient algorithm is developed to optimize MA position via successive convex approximation, which is subsequently extended to the general multiuser setup. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms outperform fixed-position antenna schemes and existing ones without consideration of movement delay. Additionally, our algorithms exhibit excellent adaptability and stability across various transmission block durations and moving region sizes, and are robust to different antenna moving speeds. This allows the hardware cost of MA-aided systems to be reduced by employing low rotational speed motors.
