Flavor-Safe Light Squarks in Higgs-Anomaly Mediation

We consider a simple setup with light squarks which is free from the gravitino and SUSY flavor problems. In our setup, a SUSY breaking sector is sequestered from the matter and gauge sectors, and it only couples to the Higgs sector directly with $\mathcal{O}(100)\,$TeV gravitino. Resulting mass spectra of sfermions are split: the first and second generation sfermions are light as $\mathcal{O}(1)\,$TeV while the third generation sfermions are heavy as $\mathcal{O}(10)\,$TeV. The light squarks of $\mathcal{O}(1)\,$TeV can be searched at the (high-luminosity) LHC and future collider experiments. Our scenario can naturally avoid too large flavor-changing neutral currents and it is consistent with the $ε_K$ constraint. Moreover, there are regions explaining the muon $g-2$ anomaly and bottom-tau/top-bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification simultaneously.

Superconductivity in two-dimensional phosphorus carbide ($β_{0}$-PC)

Two-dimensional (2D) boron has been predicted to show superconductivity. However, intrinsic 2D carbon and phosphorus have not been reported to be superconductors, which, inspires us to seek superconductivity in their mixture. Here we perform first-principles calculations of the electronic structure, phonon dispersion, and electron-phonon coupling of the metallic phosphorus carbide monolayer, the $β_{0}$-PC. Results show that it is an intrinsic phonon-mediated superconductor, with estimated superconducting temperature $T_{c}$ to be $\sim$13 K. The main contribution to the electron-phonon coupling is from the out-of-plane vibrations of phosphorus. A Kohn anomaly on the first acoustic branch is observed. The superconducting related physical quantities is found tunable by applying strain or carrier doping.

First-principles study of superconductivity in 2D and 3D forms of PbTiSe$_{2}$: Suppressed charge density wave in 1\emph{T}-TiSe$_{2}$

Layered 1$T$-TiSe$_{2}$ has attracted much interest for the competition of charge density wave (CDW) and superconductivity in its bulk and even monolayer forms. Here we perform first-principles calculations of the electronic structure, phonon dispersion, and electron-phonon coupling of the Pb-intercalated 1$T$-TiSe$_{2}$ in bulk and layered structures. Results show that upon the Pb atom intercalation, the CDW instability in 1$T$-TiSe$_{2}$ can be effectively suppressed, accompanied by the removal of the imaginary phonon modes at \textbf{q}$_{\rm{M}}$. The Pb 6\emph{p} orbitals occupy directly at the Fermi level, which hence intercalates the superconductivity. Both bulk and layered PbTiSe$_{2}$ are phonon-mediated superconductors, with estimated superconducting temperature $T_{c}$ to be $\sim$1.6-3.8 K. The main contribution to the electron-phonon coupling is from the vibrations of Pb and Se atoms. The superconducting related physical quantities are found tunable by varying Pb content.

Fixed Point and Anomaly Mediation in Partially $N = 2$ Supersymmetric Standard Models

Motivated by the simple toroidal compactification of extra-dimensional SUSY theories, we investigate on a partially $N=2$ supersymmetric (SUSY) extension of the standard model which has an $N=2$ SUSY sector and an $N=1$ SUSY sector. We point out that below the scale of the partially breaking of $N=2$ to $N=1$, the ratio of Yukawa to gauge couplings embedded in the original $N=2$ gauge interaction in the $N=2$ sector becomes greater due to a fixed point. Since at the partially breaking scale the sfermion masses in the $N=2$ sector is suppressed due to the $N=2$ non-renormalization theorem, the anomaly mediation effect becomes important. If dominant, the anomaly induced masses for the sfermions in the $N=2$ sector are almost UV-insensitive due to the fixed point. Interestingly, these masses are always positive, i.e. no tachyonic slepton problem. From an example model, we show interesting phenomena differing from the ordinary MSSM. In particular, the dark matter can be a sbino, i.e. the scalar component of the $N=2$ vector multiplet of $\rm U(1)_Y$. To obtain the correct dark matter abundance, the mass of sbino, as well as the MSSM sparticles in the $N=2$ sector which have a typical mass pattern of anomaly mediation, is required to be small. Therefore, this scenario can be tested and confirmed in the LHC and may be further confirmed by the measurement of the $N=2$ Yukawa couplings in future colliders. This model can explain dark matter, muon $g-2$ anomaly, gauge coupling unification and relaxes some ordinary problems within the MSSM. Also, it is compatible with thermal leptogenesis.

The ALP miracle: unified inflaton and dark matter

We propose a scenario where both inflation and dark matter are described by a single axion-like particle (ALP) in a unified manner. In a class of the minimal axion hilltop inflation, the effective masses at the maximum and mimimum of the potential have equal magnitude but opposite sign, so that the ALP inflaton is light both during inflation and in the true vacuum. After inflation, most of the ALPs decay and evaporate into plasma through a coupling to photons, and the remaining ones become dark matter. We find that the observed CMB and matter power spectrum as well as the dark matter abundance point to an ALP of mass $m_ϕ= {\cal O}(0.01)$ eV and the axion-photon coupling $g_{ϕγγ} ={\cal O}(10^{-11})$GeV$^{-1}$: the ALP miracle. The suggested parameter region is within the reach of the next generation axion helioscope, IAXO. Furthermore, thermalized ALPs contribute to hot dark matter and its abundance is given in terms of the effective number of extra neutrino species, $ΔN_{\rm eff} \simeq 0.03$, which can be tested by the future CMB experiments. We also discuss a case with multiple ALPs, where the coupling to photons can be enhanced in the early Universe by an order of magnitude or more, which enlarges the parameter space for the ALP miracle. The heavy ALP plays a role of the waterfall field in hybrid inflation, and reheats the Universe, and it can be searched for in various experiments such as SHiP.

Splitting Mass Spectra and Muon g-2 in Higgs-Anomaly Mediation

We propose a scenario where only the Higgs multiplets have direct couplings to a supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking sector. The standard model matter multiplets as well as the gauge multiples are sequestered from the SUSY breaking sector; therefore, their masses arise via anomaly mediation at the high energy scale with a gravitino mass of $\sim$100 TeV. Due to renormalization group running effects from the Higgs soft masses, the masses of the third generation sfermions become O(10) TeV at the low energy scale, while the first and second generation sfermion masses are O(0.1-1) TeV, avoiding the tachyonic slepton problem and flavor changing neutral current problem. With the splitting mass spectrum, the muon g-2 anomaly is explained consistently with the observed Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV. Moreover, the third generation Yukawa couplings are expected to be unified in some regions.

Nambu-Goldstone Boson Hypothesis for Squarks and Sleptons in Pure Gravity Mediation

We point out that a hypothesis of squarks and sleptons being Nambu-Goldstone (NG) bosons is consistent with pure gravity mediation or minimal split supersymmetry (SUSY). As a concrete example, we consider a SUSY $E_7/SU(5) \times U(1)^3$ non-linear sigma model in the framework of pure gravity mediation. The model accommodates three families of the quark and lepton chiral multiplets as (pseudo) NG multiplets of the Kahler manifold, which may enable us to understand the origin and number of the families. We point out that squarks in the first and second generations are likely to be as light as a few TeV if the observed baryon asymmetry is explained by the thermal leptogenesis; therefore, these colored particles can be discovered at the LHC Run-2 or at the high luminosity LHC.

A Novel Approach to Fine-Tuned Supersymmetric Standard Models -- Case of Non-Universal Higgs Masses model

Discarding the prejudice about fine tuning, we propose a novel and efficient approach to identify relevant regions of fundamental parameter space in supersymmetric models with some amount of fine tuning. The essential idea is the mapping of experimental constraints at a low energy scale, rather than the parameter sets, to those of the fundamental parameter space. Applying this method to the non-universal Higgs masses model, we identify a new interesting superparticle mass pattern where some of the first two generation squarks are light whilst the stops are kept heavy as 6TeV. Furthermore, as another application of this method, we show that the discrepancy of the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment can be filled by a supersymmetric contribution within the 1 σ level of the experimental and theoretical errors, which was overlooked by the previous studies due to the required terrible fine tuning.

Natural Split Mechanism for Sfermions: $N$=2 Supersymmetry in Phenomenology

We suggest a natural split mechanism for sfermions based on $N$=2 supersymmetry (SUSY). $N$=2 SUSY protects a sfermion in an $N$=2 multiplet from gaining weight by SUSY breaking. Therefore, if partly $N$=2 SUSY is effectively obtained, a split spectrum can be realized naturally. As an example of the natural split mechanism, we build a gauge-mediated SUSY breaking-like model assuming $N$=2 SUSY is partly broken in a UV theory. The model explains the Higgs boson mass and the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment within $1~σ$ level with a splitting sfermion spectrum. The model has seven light sparticles described by three free parameters and predicts a new chiral multiplet, sb: the $N$=2 partner of the ${\rm U(1)_Y}$ vector multiplet. The bini, the fermion component of the sb, weighs MeVs. We mention the experimental and the cosmological aspects of the model.

Application of the First Collision Source Method to CSNS Target Station Shielding Calculation

Ray effects are the inherent problem of discrete ordinates method. RAY3D, a functional module of ARES which is a discrete ordinates code system, employs a semi-analytic first collision source method to mitigate ray effects. This method decomposes the flux into uncollided and collided components, and then calculates them with analytical method and discrete ordinates method respectively. In this article, RAY3D is validated by the Kobayashi benchmarks and applied to the neutron beamline shielding problem of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) target station. Numerical results of the Kobayashi benchmarks indicate that DONTRAN3D with RAY3D solutions agree well with the Monte Carlo solutions. The dose rate at the end of the neutron beamline is less than 10.83 μSv/h in CSNS target station neutron beamline shutter model. RAY3D can effectively mitigate ray effects and obtain relatively reasonable results.

First-principles DFT+\emph{U} study of structural and electronic properties of PbCrO$_{3}$

We have performed a systematic first-principles investigation to calculate the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of PbCrO$_{3}$, CrPbO$_{3}$ as well as their equiproportional combination. The local density approximation (LDA)$+U$ and the generalized gradient approximation$+U$ theoretical formalisms have been used to account for the strong on-site Coulomb repulsion among the localized Cr 3d electrons. By choosing the Hubbard \emph{U} parameter around 4 eV, ferromagnetic, and/or antiferromagnetic ground states can be achieved and our calculated lattice constants, bulk moduli, and equation of states are in good agreement with recent experiments [W. Xiao \emph{et al.}, PNAS \textbf{107}, 14026 (2010)]. The bonding nature of B$-$O bonds in these ABO$_{3}$ compounds exhibit evident covalent character and our electron transferring study indicates that the ionicity shows decreasing trend with increasing fraction of CrO$_{6/2}$ octahedron within the PbCrO$_{3}$-CrPbO$_{3}$ random compounds. The lengthes of B$-$O bonds determine their lattice parameters, thus, clearly indicates that the abnormally large volume and compressibility is due to the contain of CrPbO$_{3}$ in the experimental sample and the transition of PbO$_{6/2}$ octahedron to CrO$_{6/2}$ upon compression.

Magnetic-field-induced transition from metastable spin glass to possible antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic phase separation in $Cd_{0.5}Cu_{0.5}Cr_2O_4$

Using ac susceptibility, dc magnetization and heat capacity measurements, we have investigated the magnetic properties of $Cd_{0.5}Cu_{0.5}Cr_2O_4$. $Cd_{0.5}Cu_{0.5}Cr_2O_4$ has an extraordinary magnetic phase including a metastable spin-glass(SG) phase at zero field, a possible phase separation scenario of AFM/FM above $\sim 0.5T$ field, and at intermediate fields, an apparent pseudo reentrant spin-glass (RSG) plateau is observed. These phenomena are closely correlated with the pinning effect of the $Cu^{2+}$ sublattice on the frustrated lattice.
