Sparse auto-regressive modeling for scene generation from multi-view images

Generating complete 3D scenes from sparse, unconstrained views is a fundamental challenge in 3D vision which requires reasoning beyond observed content while remaining computationally tractable. Existing feed-forward reconstruction methods are inherently limited to content visible in the input images, while 3D generative modeling is hindered by the high computational cost of dense volumetric representations and the scarcity of large-scale 3D supervision. We introduce SPAR3S, a sparse voxel-aligned 3D latent generative model for conditional scene completion without requiring ground-truth 3D data for supervision. Our key insight is to formulate 3D scene generation in a structured, compact, voxel-aligned 3D latent space where only occupied voxels are represented. We learn this sparse latent space directly from multi-view images using photometric supervision via differentiable 3D Gaussian Splatting. Given a partial set of observed voxels encoded from sparse input views, scene completion reduces to predicting the missing latent tokens and their spatial support within the voxel grid. To this end, we train a masked autoregressive transformer that jointly models voxel occupancy and latent token values, enabling efficient and spatially consistent generation of unseen regions. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method on synthetic indoor scenes, achieving higher novel-view quality than prior work. We further validate its generalization on RealEstate10k, highlighting its applicability to real-world data.

BIPS: Bi-modal Indoor Panorama Synthesis via Residual Depth-aided Adversarial Learning

Providing omnidirectional depth along with RGB information is important for numerous applications, eg, VR/AR. However, as omnidirectional RGB-D data is not always available, synthesizing RGB-D panorama data from limited information of a scene can be useful. Therefore, some prior works tried to synthesize RGB panorama images from perspective RGB images; however, they suffer from limited image quality and can not be directly extended for RGB-D panorama synthesis. In this paper, we study a new problem: RGB-D panorama synthesis under the arbitrary configurations of cameras and depth sensors. Accordingly, we propose a novel bi-modal (RGB-D) panorama synthesis (BIPS) framework. Especially, we focus on indoor environments where the RGB-D panorama can provide a complete 3D model for many applications. We design a generator that fuses the bi-modal information and train it with residual-aided adversarial learning (RDAL). RDAL allows to synthesize realistic indoor layout structures and interiors by jointly inferring RGB panorama, layout depth, and residual depth. In addition, as there is no tailored evaluation metric for RGB-D panorama synthesis, we propose a novel metric to effectively evaluate its perceptual quality. Extensive experiments show that our method synthesizes high-quality indoor RGB-D panoramas and provides realistic 3D indoor models than prior methods. Code will be released upon acceptance.

Deceiving Image-to-Image Translation Networks for Autonomous Driving with Adversarial Perturbations

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have achieved impressive performance on handling computer vision problems, however, it has been found that DNNs are vulnerable to adversarial examples. For such reason, adversarial perturbations have been recently studied in several respects. However, most previous works have focused on image classification tasks, and it has never been studied regarding adversarial perturbations on Image-to-image (Im2Im) translation tasks, showing great success in handling paired and/or unpaired mapping problems in the field of autonomous driving and robotics. This paper examines different types of adversarial perturbations that can fool Im2Im frameworks for autonomous driving purpose. We propose both quasi-physical and digital adversarial perturbations that can make Im2Im models yield unexpected results. We then empirically analyze these perturbations and show that they generalize well under both paired for image synthesis and unpaired settings for style transfer. We also validate that there exist some perturbation thresholds over which the Im2Im mapping is disrupted or impossible. The existence of these perturbations reveals that there exist crucial weaknesses in Im2Im models. Lastly, we show that our methods illustrate how perturbations affect the quality of outputs, pioneering the improvement of the robustness of current SOTA networks for autonomous driving.

SpherePHD: Applying CNNs on a Spherical PolyHeDron Representation of 360 degree Images

Omni-directional cameras have many advantages overconventional cameras in that they have a much wider field-of-view (FOV). Accordingly, several approaches have beenproposed recently to apply convolutional neural networks(CNNs) to omni-directional images for various visual tasks. However, most of them use image representations defined inthe Euclidean space after transforming the omni-directionalviews originally formed in the non-Euclidean space. Thistransformation leads to shape distortion due to nonuniformspatial resolving power and the loss of continuity. Theseeffects make existing convolution kernels experience diffi-culties in extracting meaningful information. This paper presents a novel method to resolve such prob-lems of applying CNNs to omni-directional images. Theproposed method utilizes a spherical polyhedron to rep-resent omni-directional views. This method minimizes thevariance of the spatial resolving power on the sphere sur-face, and includes new convolution and pooling methodsfor the proposed representation. The proposed method canalso be adopted by any existing CNN-based methods. Thefeasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated throughclassification, detection, and semantic segmentation taskswith synthetic and real datasets.
