Converting quantum coherence to genuine multipartite entanglement and nonlocality

We study the relations between quantum coherence and quantum nonlocality, genuine quantum entanglement and genuine quantum nonlocality. We show that the coherence of a qubit state can be converted to the nonlocality of two-qubit states via incoherent operations. The results are also generalized to qudit case. Furthermore, rigorous relations between the quantum coherence of a single-partite state and the genuine multipartite quantum entanglement, as well as the genuine three-qubit quantum nonlocality are established.

Deterministic versus probabilistic quantum information masking

We investigate quantum information masking for arbitrary dimensional quantum states. We show that mutually orthogonal quantum states can always be served for deterministic masking of quantum information. We further construct a probabilistic masking machine for linearly independent states. It is shown that a set of d dimensional states, $\{ |a_1 \rangle_A, |t a_2 \rangle_A, \dots, |a_n \rangle_A \}$, $n \leq d$, can be probabilistically masked by a general unitary-reduction operation if they are linearly independent. The maximal successful probability of probabilistic masking is analyzed and derived for the case of two initial states.

Uncertainties of genuinely incompatible triple measurements based on statistical distance

We investigate the measurement uncertainties of a triple of positive operator-valued measures (POVMs) based on statistical distance, and formulate state-independent tight uncertainty inequalities satisfied by the three measurements in terms of triple-wise joint measurability. Particularly, uncertainty inequalities for three unbiased qubit measurements are presented with analytical lower bounds which relates to the necessary and sufficient condition of the triple-wise joint measurability of the given triple. We show that the measurement uncertainties for a triple measurement are essentially different from the ones obtained by pair wise measurement uncertainties by comparing the lower bounds of different measurement uncertainties.

Triangle-like inequalities related to coherence and entanglement negativity

Quantum coherence and entanglement are two key features in quantum mechanics and play important roles in quantum information processing and quantum computation. We provide a general triangle-like inequality satisfied by the $l_1$-norm measure of coherence for convex combination of arbitrary $n$ pure states of a quantum state $ρ$. Furthermore, we present triangle-like inequality for the convex-roof extended negativity for any states of rank 2, which gives a positive answer to a conjecture raised in [Phys. Rev. A 96, 062308 (2017)]. Detailed examples are given to illustrate the relations characterized by the triangle-like inequalities.

Quantum Fisher information and coherence in one-dimensional $XY$ spin models with Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interactions

We investigate quantum phase transitions in $XY$ spin models using Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interactions. We identify the quantum critical points via quantum Fisher information and quantum coherence, finding that higher DM couplings suppress quantum phase transitions. However, quantum coherence (characterized by the $l_1$-norm and relative entropy) decreases as the DM coupling increases. Herein, we present both analytical and numerical results.

Analytical Expression of Quantum Discord for Rank-2 Two-qubit States

Quantum correlations characterized by quantum entanglement and quantum discord play important roles in many quantum information processing. We study the relations among the entanglement of formation, concurrence, tangle, linear entropy based classical correlation and von Neumann entropy based classical correlation. We present analytical formulae of linear entropy based classical correlation for arbitrary $d\otimes 2$ quantum states and von Neumann entropy based classical correlation for arbitrary $2\otimes 2$ rank-2 quantum states. From the von Neumann entropy based classical correlation, we derive an explicit formula of quantum discord for arbitrary rank-2 two-qubit quantum states.

Quantum correlations in critical $XXZ$ system and LMG model

We investigate the quantum phase transitions for the $XXZ$ spin-1/2 chains via the quantum correlations between the nearest and next to nearest neighbor spins characterized by negativity, information deficit, trace distance discord and local quantum uncertainty. It is shown that all these correlations exhibit the quantum phase transitions at $Δ=-1$. However, only information deficit and local quantum uncertainty can demonstrate quantum phase transitions at $Δ=1$. The analytical and numerical behaviors of the quantum correlations for the $XXZ$ system are presented. We also consider quantum correlations in the Hartree-Fock ground state of the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model.

Improved separability criteria via some classes of measurements

The entanglement detection via local measurements can be experimentally implemented. Based on mutually unbiased measurements and general symmetric informationally complete positive-operator-valued measures, we present separability criteria for bipartite quantum states, which, by theoretical analysis, are stronger than the related existing criteria via these measurements. Two detailed examples are supplemented to show the efficiency of the presented separability criteria.

Optimization of ultrafine entanglement witnesses

The ultrafine entanglement witness, introduced in [F. Shahandeh, M. Ringbauer, J.C. Loredo, and T.C. Ralph, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{118}, 110502 (2017)], can seamlessly and easily improve any standard entanglement witness. In this paper, by combining the constraint and the test operators, we rotate the hyperplane determined by the test operator and improve further the original ultrafine entanglement witness. In particular, we present a series of new ultrafine entanglement witnesses, which not only can detect entangled states that the original ultrafine entanglement witnesses cannot detect, but also have the merits that the original ultrafine entanglement witnesses have.

A note on the Bloch representation of absolutely maximally entangled states

The absolutely maximally entangled (AME) states play key roles in quantum information processing. We provide an explicit expression of the generalized Bloch representation of AME states for general dimension $d$ of individual subsystems and arbitrary number of partite $n$. Based on this analytic formula, we prove that the trace of the squared support for any given weight is given by the so-called hyper-geometric function and is irrelevant with the choices of the subsystems. The optimal point for the existence of AME states is obtained.

Monogamy relations of concurrence for any dimensional quantum systems

We study monogamy relations for arbitrary dimensional multipartite systems. Monogamy relations based on concurrence and concurrence of assistance for any dimensional $m_1\otimes m_2\otimes...\otimes m_{N}$ quantum states are derived, which give rise to the restrictions on the entanglement distributions among the subsystems. Besides, we give the lower bound of concurrence for four-partite mixed states. The approach can be readily generalized to arbitrary multipartite systems.

Tight upper bound for the maximal quantum value of the Svetlichny operators

It is a challenging task to detect genuine multipartite nolocality (GMNL). In this paper, the problem is considered via computing the maximal quantum value of Svetlichny operators for three-qubit systems and a tight upper bound is obtained. The constraints on the quantum states for the tightness of the bound are also presented. The approach enables us to give the necessary and sufficient conditions of violating the Svetlichny inequalities (SI) for several quantum states, including the white and color noised GHZ states. The relation between the genuine multipartite entanglement concurrence and the maximal quantum value of the Svetlichny operators for mixed GHZ class states is also discussed. As the SI is useful for the investigation on GMNL, our results give an effective and operational method to detect the GMNL for three-qubit mixed states.

Uniform Quantification of Correlations for Bipartite Systems

Based on the relative entropy, we give a unified characterization of quantum correlations for nonlocality, steerability, discord and entanglement for any bipartite quantum states. For two-qubit states we show that the quantities obtained from quantifying nonlocality, steerability, entanglement and discord have strictly monotonic relationship. As for examples, the Bell diagonal states are studied in detail.

Uncertainty under Quantum Measures and Quantum Memory

The uncertainty principle restricts potential information one gains about physical properties of the measured particle. However, if the particle is prepared in entanglement with a quantum memory, the corresponding entropic uncertainty relation will vary. Based on the knowledge of correlations between the measured particle and quantum memory, we have investigated the entropic uncertainty relations for two and multiple measurements, and generalized the lower bounds on the sum of Shannon entropies without quantum side information to those that allow quantum memory. In particular, we have obtained generalization of Kaniewski-Tomamichel-Wehner's bound for effective measures and majorization bounds for noneffective measures to allow quantum side information. Furthermore, we have derived several strong bounds for the entropic uncertainty relations in the presence of quantum memory for two and multiple measurements. Finally, potential applications of our results to entanglement witnesses are discussed via the entropic uncertainty relation in the absence of quantum memory.

Improved Uncertainty Relation in the Presence of Quantum Memory

In Coles-Piani's recent remarkable version of the entropic uncertainty principle, the entropic sum is controlled by the first and second maximum overlaps between the two projective measurements. We generalize the entropic uncertainty relation in the presence of quantum memory and find the exact dependence on all $d$ largest overlaps between two measurements on any $d$-dimensional Hilbert space. The corresponding entropic uncertainty principle in the absence of quantum memory is also derived. Our bounds are strictly tighter than previous entropic bounds in the presence of quantum memory, which have potential applications to quantum cryptography with entanglement witnesses and quantum key distributions.

Optimal Universal Uncertainty Relations

We study universal uncertainty relations and present a method called joint probability distribution diagram to improve the majorization bounds constructed independently in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 111, 230401 (2013)] and [J. Phys. A. 46, 272002 (2013)]. The results give rise to state independent uncertainty relations satisfied by any nonnegative Schur-concave functions. On the other hand, a remarkable recent result of entropic uncertainty relation is the direct-sum majorization relation. In this paper, we illustrate our bounds by showing how they provide a complement to that in [Phys. Rev. A. 89, 052115 (2014)].

Multi-observable Uncertainty Relations in Product Form of Variances

We investigate the product form uncertainty relations of variances for $n\,(n\geq 3)$ quantum observables. In particular, tight uncertainty relations satisfied by three observables has been derived, which is shown to be better than the ones derived from the strengthened Heisenberg and the generalized Schrödinger uncertainty relations, and some existing uncertainty relation for three spin-half operators. Uncertainty relation of arbitrary number of observables is also derived. As an example, the uncertainty relation satisfied by the eight Gell-Mann matrices is presented.

Bounds on Multipartite Concurrence and Tangle

We present an analytical lower bound of multipartite concurrence based on the generalized Bloch representations of density matrices. It is shown that the lower bound can be used as an effective entanglement witness of genuine multipartite entanglement. Tight lower and upper bounds for multipartite tangles are also derived. Since the lower bounds depend on just part of the correlation tensors, the result is experimentally feasible.
