Construction of Gel'fand-Dorfman Bialgebras from Classical R-Matrices

Novikov algebras are algebras whose associators are left-symmetric and right multiplication operators are mutually commutative. A Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra is a vector space with a Lie algebra structure and a Novikov algebra structure, satisfying a certain compatibility condition. Such a bialgebraic structure corresponds to a certain Hamiltonian pairs in integrable systems. In this article, we present a construction of Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras from certain classical R-matrices on Lie algebras. In particular, we construct such R-matrices from certain abelian subalgebras of Lie algebras. As a result, we show that there exist nontrivial Novikov algebra structures on any finite-dimensional nonzero Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field with characteristic 0 or $p>5$ such that they form a Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra

Structure of Contact Lie Algebras Related to Locally-Finite Derivations

Classical contact Lie algebras are the fundamental algebraic structures on the manifolds of contact elements of configuration spaces in classical mechanics. In this paper, we determine the structure of the currently largest known category of contact simple Lie algebras introduced earlier by the second author. These algebras are in general not finitely-graded.

Poisson and Hamiltonian Superpairs over Polarized Associative Algebras

Poisson superpair is a pair of Poisson superalgebra structures on a super commutative associative algebra, whose any linear combination is also a Poisson superalgebra structure. In this paper, we first construct certain linear and quadratic Poisson superpairs over a finite-dimensional or semi-finitely-filtered polarized $\Bbb{Z}_2$-graded associative algebra. Then we give a construction of certain Hamiltonian superpairs in the formal variational calculus over any finite-dimensional $\Bbb{Z}_2$-graded associative algebra with a supersymmetric nondegenerate associative bilinear form. Our constructions are based on the Adler mapping in a general sense. Our works in this paper can be viewed as noncommutative generalizations of the Adler-Gel'fand-Dikii Hamiltonian pair. As a preparatory work, some structural properties of polarized associative algebras have been studied.

Nongraded Infinite-Dimensional Simple Lie Algebras

Nongraded infinite-dimensional Lie algebras appeared naturally in the theory of Hamiltonian operators, the theory of vertex algebras and their multi-variable analogues. They play important roles in mathematical physics. This survey article is written based on the author's seminar talks on nongraded infinite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The key constructional ingredients of our Lie algebras are locally-finite derivations. The structure spaces of some families of these simple Lie algebras can be viewed as analogues of vector bundles with Lie algebras as fibers. We also believe that some of our simple Lie algebras could be related to noncommutative geometry.

Central Simple Poisson Algebras

In this paper, we determine the isomorphism classes of the central simple Poisson algebras introduced earlier by the second author. The Lie algebra structures of these Poisson algebras are in general not finitely-graded.

Structure of Divergence-Free Lie Algebras

One of the four well-known series of simple Lie algebras of Cartan type is the series of Lie algebras of Special type, which are divergence-free Lie algebras associated with polynomial algebras and the operators of taking partial derivatives, connected with volume-preserving diffeomorphisms. In this paper, we determine the structure space of the divergence-free Lie algebras associated with pairs of a commutative associative algebra with an identity element and its finite-dimensional commutative locally-finite derivation subalgebra such that the commutative associative algebra is derivation-simple with respect to the derivation subalgebra.

Theta Series of Unimodular Lattices, Combinatorial Identities and Weighted Symmetric Polynomials

We find two combinatorial identities on the theta series of the root lattices of the finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras of type $D_{4n}$ and the cosets in their integral duals, in terms of the well-known Essenstein series $E_4(z)$ and Ramanujan series $\Dlt_{24}(z)$. Using these two identities, we determine the theta series of certain infinite families of postive definite even unimodular lattices obtained by gluing finite copies of the root lattices of the finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras of type $D_{2n}$. It turns out that these theta series are weighted symmetric polynomials of two fixed families of polynomials of $E_4(z)$ and $\Dlt_{24}(z)$.

Derivation-Simple Algebras and the Structures of Generalized Lie Algebras of Witt Type

We classify all the pairs of a commutative associative algebra with an identity element and its finite-dimensional commutative locally-finite derivation subalgebra such that the commutative associative algebra is derivation-simple with respect to the derivation subalgebra over an algebraically closed field with characteristic 0. Such pairs are the fundamental ingredients for constructing generalized simple Lie algebras of Cartan type. Moreover, we determine the isomorphic classes of the generalized simple Lie algebras of Witt Type. The structure space of these algebras is given explicitly.

Quadratic conformal superalgebras

In this paper, we shall classify ``quadratic'' conformal superalgebras by certain compatible pairs of a Lie superalgebra and a Novikov superalgebra.Four general constructions of such pairs are given. Moreover, we shall classify such pairs related to simple Novikov algebras.

Generalizations of the Block algebras

In this paper, we introduce two new families of infinite-dimensional simple Lie algebras and a new family of infinite-dimensional simple Lie superalgebras. These algebras can be viewed as generalizations of the Block algebras.

Variational calculus of supervariables and related algebraic structures

We establish a formal variational calculus of supervariables, which is a combination of the bosonic theory of Gel'fand-Dikii and the fermionic theory in our earlier work. Certain interesting new algebraic structures are found in connection with Hamiltonian superoperators in terms of our theory. In particular, we find connections between Hamiltonian superoperators and Novikov-Poisson algebras that we introduced in our earlier work in order to establish a tensor theory of Novikov algebras. Furthermore, we prove that an odd linear Hamiltonian superoperator in our variational calculus induces a Lie superalgebra, which is a natural generalization of the Super-Virasoro algebra under certain conditions.

Equivalence of conformal superalgebras to Hamiltonian superoperators

In this paper, we present a formal variational calculus of super functions in one real variable and find the conditions for a "matrix differential operator" to be a Hamiltonian superoperator. Moreover, we prove that conformal superalgebras are equivalent to certain Hamiltonian superoperators.
