Solving Dynamic Multi-objective Optimization Problems Using Incremental Support Vector Machine

The main feature of the Dynamic Multi-objective Optimization Problems (DMOPs) is that optimization objective functions will change with times or environments. One of the promising approaches for solving the DMOPs is reusing the obtained Pareto optimal set (POS) to train prediction models via machine learning approaches. In this paper, we train an Incremental Support Vector Machine (ISVM) classifier with the past POS, and then the solutions of the DMOP we want to solve at the next moment are filtered through the trained ISVM classifier. A high-quality initial population will be generated by the ISVM classifier, and a variety of different types of population-based dynamic multi-objective optimization algorithms can benefit from the population. To verify this idea, we incorporate the proposed approach into three evolutionary algorithms, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization(MOPSO), Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II), and the Regularity Model-based multi-objective estimation of distribution algorithm(RE-MEDA). We employ experiments to test these algorithms, and experimental results show the effectiveness.

Excitonic Wave Function Reconstruction from Near-Field Spectra Using Machine Learning Techniques

A general problem in quantum mechanics is the reconstruction of eigenstate wave functions from measured data. In the case of molecular aggregates, information about excitonic eigenstates is vitally important to understand their optical and transport properties. Here we show that from spatially resolved near field spectra it is possible to reconstruct the underlying delocalized aggregate eigenfunctions. Although this high-dimensional nonlinear problem defies standard numerical or analytical approaches, we have found that it can be solved using a convolutional neural network. For both one-dimensional and two-dimensional aggregates we find that the reconstruction is robust to various types of disorder and noise.

Hopf algebras of planar binary trees: an operated algebra approach

Parallel to operated algebras built on top of planar rooted trees via the grafting operator $B^+$, we introduce and study $\vee$-algebras and more generally $\vee_Ω$-algebras based on planar binary trees. Involving an analogy of the Hochschild 1-cocycle condition, cocycle $\vee_Ω$-bialgebras (resp.~$\vee_Ω$-Hopf algebras) are also introduced and their free objects are constructed via decorated planar binary trees. As a special case, the well-known Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra $H_{LR}$ is a free cocycle $\vee$-Hopf algebra. By means of admissible cuts, a combinatorial description of the coproduct $Δ_{LR(Ω)}$ on decorated planar binary trees is given, as in the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra by admissible cuts.

Free (tri)dendriform family algebras

In this paper, we first prove that a Rota-Baxter family algebra indexed by a semigroup induces an ordinary Rota-Baxter algebra structure on the tensor product with the semigroup algebra. We show that the same phenomenon arises for dendriform and tridendriform family algebras. Then we construct free dendriform family algebras in terms of typed decorated planar binary trees. Finally, we generalize typed decorated rooted trees to typed valently decorated Schröder trees and use them to construct free tridendriform family algebras.

Matching Rota-Baxter algebras, matching dendriform algebras and matching pre-Lie algebras

We introduce the notion of a matching Rota-Baxter algebra motivated by the recent work on multiple pre-Lie algebras arising from the study of algebraic renormalization of regularity structures~[10,18]. This notion is also related to iterated integrals with multiple kernels and solutions of the associative polarized Yang-Baxter equation. Generalizing the natural connection of Rota-Baxter algebras with dendriform algebras to matching Rota-Baxter algebras , we obtain the notion of matching dendriform algebras. As in the classical case of one operation, matching Rota-Baxter algebras and matching dendriform algebras are related to matching pre-Lie algebras which coincide with the aforementioned multiple pre-Lie algebras. More general notions and results on matching tridendriform algebras and matching PostLie algebras are also obtained.

Simple and Effective Text Matching with Richer Alignment Features

In this paper, we present a fast and strong neural approach for general purpose text matching applications. We explore what is sufficient to build a fast and well-performed text matching model and propose to keep three key features available for inter-sequence alignment: original point-wise features, previous aligned features, and contextual features while simplifying all the remaining components. We conduct experiments on four well-studied benchmark datasets across tasks of natural language inference, paraphrase identification and answer selection. The performance of our model is on par with the state-of-the-art on all datasets with much fewer parameters and the inference speed is at least 6 times faster compared with similarly performed ones.

A Hopf algebra on subgraphs of a graph

In this paper, we construct a bialgebraic and further a Hopf algebraic structure on top of subgraphs of a given graph. Further, we give the dual structure of this Hopf algebraic structure. We study the algebra morphisms induced by graph homomorphisms, and obtain a covariant functor from a graph category to an algebra category.

Photometric investigations on two totally eclipsing contact binaries: V342 UMa and V509 Cam

By analyzing two sets of complete $BVR_cI_c$ light curves of V342 UMa and three sets of complete $BVR_cI_c$ light curves of V509 Cam, we determined that the two systems are both W-subtype contact binaries and that V342 UMa shows a shallow contact configuration, while V509 Cam exhibits a medium contact configuration. Since both of them are totally eclipsing binaries, the physical parameters derived only by the photometric light curves are reliable.Meanwhile, the period changes of the two targets were analyzed based on all available eclipsing times. We discovered that V342 UMa shows long-term period decrease with a rate of $-1.02(\pm0.54)\times10^{-7}$ days/year and that V509 Cam exhibits long-term period increase with a rate of $3.96(\pm0.90)\times10^{-8}$ days/year. Both the conservative mass transfer and AML via magnetic stellar winds can interpret the long-term period decrease of V342 UMa. The long-term period increase of V509 Cam can be explained by mass transfer from the less massive star to the more massive one. The absolute parameters of the two binaries were estimated according to the Gaia distances and our derived photometric solution results. This method can be extended to other contact binaries without radial velocities but with reliable photometric solutions. The evolutionary states of them were discussed, we found that they reveal identical properties of other W-subtype contact systems.

Asteroid (3200) Phaethon: colors, phase curve, limits on cometary activity and fragmentation

We report on a multi-observatory campaign to examine asteroid 3200 Phaethon during its December 2017 close approach to Earth, in order to improve our measurements of its fundamental parameters, and to search for surface variations, cometary activity and fragmentation. The mean colors of Phaethon are B-V = 0.702 +/- 0.004, V-R = 0.309 +/- 0.003, R-I = 0.266 +/- 0.004, neutral to slightly blue, consistent with previous classifications of Phaethon as a F-type or B-type asteroid. Variations in Phaethon's B-V colors (but not V-R or R-I) with observer sub-latitude are seen and may be associated with craters observed by the Arecibo radar. High cadence photometry over phases from 20 to 100 degrees allows a fit to the values of the HG photometric parameters; H = 14.57 +/- 0.02, 13.63 +/- 0.02, 13.28 +/- 0.02, 13.07 +/- 0.02; G = 0.00 +/- 0.01, -0.09 +/- 0.01, -0.10 +/- 0.01, -0.08 +/- 0.01 in the BVRI filters respectively; the negative G values are consistent with other observations of F type asteroids. Light curve variations were seen that are also consistent with concavities reported by Arecibo, indicative of large craters on Phaethon's surface whose ejecta may be the source of the Geminid meteoroid stream. A search for gas/dust production set an upper limit of 0.06 +/- 0.02 kg/s when Phaethon was 1.449 AU from the Sun, and 0.2 +/- 0.1 kg/s at 1.067 AU. A search for meter-class fragments accompanying Phaethon did not find any whose on-sky motion was not also consistent with background main belt asteroids.

Weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebras on rooted forests and weighted cocycles

In this paper, we define a new coproduct on the space of decorated planar rooted forests to equip it with a weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebraic structure. We introduce the concept of $Ω$-cocycle infinitesimal bialgebras of weight $λ$ and then prove that the space of decorated planar rooted forests $H_{\mathrm{RT}}(X,Ω)$, together with a set of grafting operations $\{ B^+_ω\mid ω\in Ω\}$, is the free $Ω$-cocycle infinitesimal unitary bialgebra of weight $λ$ on a set $X$, involving a weighted version of a Hochschild 1-cocycle condition. As an application, we equip a free cocycle infinitesimal unitary bialgebraic structure on the undecorated planar rooted forests, which is the object studied in the well-known (noncommutative) Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. Finally, we construct a new pre-Lie algebraic structure on decorated planar rooted forests.

New Active Asteroid (6478) Gault

Main-belt asteroid (6478) Gault was observed to show cometary features in early 2019. To investigate the cause, we conducted {\it BVR} observations at Xingming Observatory, China, from 2019 January to April. The two tails were formed around 2018 October 26--November 08, and 2018 December 29--2019 January 08, respectively, and consisted of dust grains of $\gtrsim$20 $μ$m to 3 mm in radius ejected at a speed of $0.15 \pm 0.05$ m s$^{-1}$ and following a broken power-law size distribution bending at grain radius $\sim$70 $μ$m (bulk density 1 g cm$^{-3}$ assumed). The total mass of dust within a $10^4$ km-radius aperture around Gault declined from $\sim$$9 \times 10^6$ kg since 2019 January at a rate of $2.28 \pm 0.07$ kg s$^{-1}$, but temporarily surged around 2019 March 25, because Earth thence crossed the orbital plane of Gault, within which the ejected dust was mainly distributed. No statistically significant colour or short-term lightcurve variation was seen. Nonetheless we argue that Gault is currently subjected to rotational instability. Using the available astrometry, we did not detect any nongravitational acceleration in the orbital motion of Gault.

Contact binaries at the short period cut-off I. statistics and the first photometric investigations of ten totally eclipsing systems

The period distribution of contact binaries exhibits a very sharp short period cut-off at 0.22 days. In order to provide valuable information on this short period limit, we observed ten totally eclipsing contact binaries with orbital periods near this cut-off. By detailed analysis using W-D code, we determined that two of these systems are A-subtype contact binaries while the others are W-subtype contact binaries and all the targets show shallow contact configurations. Half of the targets exhibit stellar spot activity and four of them have third light. A statistical work on well studied USPCBs was carried out, and physical parameters of fifty-five USPCBs were obtained. Some common properties for these systems were derived. Due to the study of the period-color diagram of USPCBs, we found that the period-color relation of USPCBs is different from other W UMa type contact binaries and USPCBs are metal poor old stars. In addition, the evolutionary states of these systems were discussed by constructing the color-density diagram. We derived that the evolutionary states of the two components of USPCBs show identical characteristics of other contact binaries despite slower evolutionary status caused by smaller mass. We suggested that both the fully convective limit claimed by Rucinski (1992) and the AML theory recommended by Stepien (2006) can produce the short period cut-off and a tertiary companion is very important during the formation of the short period contact binaries by removing angular momentum from the host eclipsing pairs under certain circumstances.

Free modified Rota-Baxter algebras and Hopf algebras

The notion of a modified Rota-Baxter algebra comes from the combination of those of a Rota-Baxter algebra and a modified Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we first construct free modified Rota-Baxter algebras. We then equip a free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a bialgebra structure by a cocycle construction. Under the assumption that the generating algebra is a connected bialgebra, we further equip the free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.

Weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebras on matrix algebras and weighted associative Yang-Baxter equations

We equip a matrix algebra with a weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebraic structure, via a construction of a suitable coproduct. Furthermore, an infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebra, under the view of Aguiar, is constructed on a matrix algebra. By exploring the relationship between weighted infinitesimal bialgebras and pre-Lie algebras, we construct a pre-Lie algebraic structure and then a new Lie algebraic structure on a matrix algebra. We also introduce the weighted associative Yang-Baxter equations (AYBEs) and obtain the relationship between solutions of weighted AYBEs and weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebras. We give a bijection between the solutions of the associative Yang-Baxter equation of weight $λ$ and Rota-Baxter operators of weight $-λ$ on matrix algebras. As a consequence, weighted quasitriangular infinitesimal unitary bialgebras are constructed, which generalize the results studied by Aguiar. Finally, We show that any weighted quasitriangular infinitesimal unitary bialgebra can be made into a dendriform algebra.

Infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebras and planar rooted forests

Infinitesimal bialgebras were introduced by Joni and Rota. An infinitesimal bialgebra is at the same time an algebra and coalgebra, in such a way that the comultiplication is a derivation. Twenty years after Joni and Rota, Aguiar introduced the concept of an infinitesimal (non-unitary) Hopf algebra. In this paper we study infinitesimal unitary bialgebras and infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebras, in contrary to Aguiar's approach. Using an infinitesimal version of the Hochschild 1-cocycle condition, we prove respectively that a class of decorated planar rooted forests is the free cocycle infinitesimal unitary bialgebra and free cocycle infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebra on a set. As an application, we obtain that the planar rooted forests is the free cocycle infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebra on the empty set.

Left counital Hopf algebras on free Nijenhuis algebras

Factorization in algebra is an important problem. In this paper, we first obtain a unique factorization in free Nijenhuis algebras. By using of this unique factorization, we then define a coproduct and a left counital bialgebraic structure on a free Nijenhuis algebra. Finally, we prove that this left counital bialgebra is connected and hence obtain a left counital Hopf algebra on a free Nijenhuis algebra.

Free operated monoids and Rewriting systems

The construction of bases for quotients is an important problem. In this paper, applying the method of rewriting systems, we give a unified approach to construct sections---an alternative name for bases in semigroup theory---for quotients of free operated monoids. As applications, we capture sections of free $\ast$-monoids and free groups, respectively.
