Investigating the ratio of CKM matrix elements $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|$ from semileptonic decay $B_s^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ$ and kaon twist-2 distribution amplitude

In this paper, we calculate the ratio of Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements, $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|$, based on the semileptonic decay $B_s^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ$. Its key component, the $B_s\to K$ transition form factor $f^{B_s\to K}_+(q^2)$, is studied within the QCD light-cone sum rules approach by using a chiral correlator. The derived $f^{B_s\to K}_+(q^2)$ is dominated by the leading-twist part, and to improve its precision, we construct a new model for the kaon leading-twist distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;K}(x,μ)$, whose parameters are fixed by using the least squares method with the help of the moments calculated by using the QCD sum rules within the background field theory. The first four moments at the initial scale $μ_0 = 1~{\rm GeV}$ are, $\langle ξ^1\rangle _{2;K} = -0.0438^{+0.0053}_{-0.0075}$, $\langle ξ^2\rangle _{2;K} = 0.262 \pm 0.010$, $\langle ξ^3\rangle _{2;K} = -0.0210^{+0.0024}_{-0.0035}$ and $\langle ξ^4\rangle _{2;K} = 0.132 \pm 0.006$, respectively. And their corresponding Gegenbauer moments are, $a^{2;K}_1 = -0.0731^{+0.0089}_{-0.0124}$, $a^{2;K}_2 = 0.182^{+0.029}_{-0.030}$, $a^{2;K}_3 = -0.0114^{+0.0008}_{-0.0016}$ and $a^{2;K}_4 = 0.041^{-0.003}_{+0.005}$, respectively. At the large recoil region, we obtain $f^{B_s\to K} _+ (0) = 0.270^{+0.022}_{-0.030}$. By extrapolating $f^{B_s\to K}_+(q^2)$ to all the physical allowable region, we obtain a $|V_{ub}|$-independent decay width for the semileptonic decay $B_s^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ$, $5.626^{+1.271}_{-0.864} \times 10^{-12}\ {\rm GeV}$, which then leads to $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}| = 0.072\pm0.005$.

$η^{(\prime)}$-meson twist-2 distribution amplitude within QCD sum rule approach and its application to the semi-leptonic decay $ D_s^+ \toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$

In this paper, we make a detailed discussion on the $η$ and $η'$-meson leading-twist light-cone distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;η^{(\prime)}}(u,μ)$ by using QCD sum rules approach under the background field theory. Taking both the non-perturbative condensates up to dimension-six and NLO QCD corrections to the perturbative part, its first three moments $\langleξ^n_{2;η^{(\prime)}}\rangle|_{μ_0} $ with $n = (2,4,6)$ at initial scale $μ_0 = 1$ GeV can be determined. e.g. $\langleξ_{2;η}^2\rangle|_{μ_0} =0.231_{-0.013}^{+0.010}$, $\langleξ_{2;η}^4 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.109_{-0.007}^{+0.007}$, and $\langleξ_{2;η}^6 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.066_{-0.006}^{+0.006}$ for $η$-meson, $\langleξ_{2;η'}^2\rangle|_{μ_0} =0.211_{-0.017}^{+0.015}$, $\langleξ_{2;η'}^4 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.093_{-0.009}^{+0.009}$, and $\langleξ_{2;η'}^6 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.054_{-0.008}^{+0.008}$ for $η'$-meson. Next, we calculate $D_s\toη^{(\prime)}$ TFFs $f^{η^{(\prime)}}_+(q^2)$ within QCD light-cone sum rules approach up to NLO level. The values at large recoil region are $f^η_+(0) = 0.476_{-0.036}^{+0.040}$ and $f^{η'}_+(0) = 0.544_{-0.042}^{+0.046}$. After extrapolating TFFs to the allowable physical regions within the series expansion, we obtain the branching fractions of the semi-leptonic decay, i.e. $D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$, i.e. ${\cal B}(D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)} e^+ν_e)=2.346_{-0.331}^{+0.418}(0.792_{-0.118}^{+0.141})\times10^{-2}$ and ${\cal B}(D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)} μ^+ν_μ)=2.320_{-0.327}^{+0.413}(0.773_{-0.115}^{+0.138})\times10^{-2}$ for $\ell = (e, μ)$ channels respectively. And in addition to that, the mixing angle for $η-η'$ with $φ$ and ratio for the different decay channels ${\cal R}_{η'/η}^\ell$ are given, which show good agreement with the recent BESIII measurements.

Reanalysis of the top-quark pair hadroproduction and a precise determination of the top-quark pole mass at the LHC

In this paper, we calculate the $t\bar{t}$ pQCD production cross-section at NNLO and determine the top-quark pole mass from recent measurements at the LHC at $\sqrt{S}=13$ TeV center-of-mass energy to high precision by applying the Principle of Maximum Conformality (PMC). The PMC provides a systematic method which rigorously eliminates QCD renormalization scale ambiguities by summing the nonconformal $β$ contributions into the QCD coupling constant. The PMC predictions satisfy the requirements of renormalization group invariance, including renormalization scheme independence, and the PMC scales accurately reflect the virtuality of the underlying production subprocesses. By using the PMC, an improved prediction for the $t\bar{t}$ production cross-section is obtained without scale ambiguities, which in turn provides a precise value for the top-quark pole mass. Moreover, the predictive power of PMC calculations that the magnitude of higher-order PMC predictions are well within the error bars predicted from the known lower-order has been demonstrated for the top-quark pair production. The resulting determination of the top-quark pole mass $m_t^{\rm pole}=172.5\pm1.4$ GeV from the LHC measurement at $\sqrt{S}=13$ TeV is in agreement with the current world average cited by the Particle Data Group (PDG). The PMC prediction provides an important high-precision test of the consistency of pQCD and the SM at $\sqrt{S}=13$ TeV with previous LHC measurements at lower CM energies.

Thrust Distribution for 3-Jet Production from $e^+e^-$ Annihilation within the QCD Conformal Window and in QED

We investigate the theoretical predictions for thrust distribution in the electron positron annihilation to three-jets process at NNLO for different values of the number of flavors, $N_f$. To determine the distribution along the entire renormalization group flow from the highest energies to zero energy we consider the number of flavors near the upper boundary of the conformal window. In this regime of number of flavors the theory develops a perturbative infrared interacting fixed point. We then consider also the QED thrust obtained as the limit $N_c \rightarrow 0$ of the number of colors. In this case the low energy limit is governed by an infrared free theory. Using these quantum field theories limits as theoretical laboratories we arrive at an interesting comparison between the Conventional Scale Setting - (CSS) and the Principle of Maximum Conformality (PMC$_\infty$) methods. We show that within the perturbative regime of the conformal window and also out of the conformal window the PMC$_\infty$ leads to a higher precision, and that reducing the number of flavors, from the upper boundary to the lower boundary, through the phase transition the curves given by the PMC$_\infty$ method preserve with continuity the position of the peak, showing perfect agreement with the experimental data already at NNLO.

PMC$_\infty$: Infinite-Order Scale-Setting method using the Principle of Maximum Conformality and preserving the Intrinsic Conformality

We show results for Thrust and C-parameter in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation to 3 jets obtained using the recently developed new method for eliminating the scale ambiguity and the scheme dependence in pQCD namely the Infinite-Order Scale-Setting method using the Principle of Maximum Conformality (PMC$_\infty$). This method preserves an important underlying property of gauge theories: intrinsic Conformality (iCF). It leads to a remarkably efficient method to eliminate the conventional renormalization scale ambiguity at any order in pQCD. A comparison with Conventional Scale Setting method (CSS) is also shown.

Inclusive production of heavy quarkonium $η_Q$ via $Z$ boson decays within the framework of nonrelativistic QCD

In the paper, the inclusive production of heavy quarkonium $η_Q$ ($Q=b$ or $c$) via $Z$ boson decays within the framework of nonrelativistic QCD effective theory are studied. The contributions from the leading color-singlet and color-octet Fock states are considered. Total and differential decay widths for the inclusive decays $Z \to η_Q+X$ are presented. It is found that the decays $Z\to η_Q +X$ are dominated by the $^3S_1^{[8]}$ component, so the decays can be inversely adopted to determine the values of the long-distance matrix elements $\langle {\cal O}^{η_{c}}(^{3}S_{1}^{[8]})\rangle$ and $\langle {\cal O}^{η_{b}}(^{3}S_{1}^{[8]})\rangle$, respectively. Our numerical results show that at an $e^+e^-$ collider running at the $Z$ pole with a high luminosity around $10^{35}{\rm cm}^{-2}{\rm s}^{-1}$ (a super $Z$ factory), there are about $4.5\times 10^7$ $η_c$ meson events and $6.1\times 10^5$ $η_b$ meson events to be produced per operation year, and the inclusive decays may be used for clarifying some problems on the heavy quarkonium $η_Q$ and nonrelativistic QCD.

A new analysis of the pQCD contributions to the electroweak parameter $ρ$ using the single-scale approach of principle of maximum conformality

It has been observed that conventional renormalization scheme and scale ambiguities for the pQCD predictions can be eliminated by using the principle of maximum conformality (PMC). However, being the intrinsic nature of any perturbative theory, there are still two types of residual scale dependences due to uncalculated higher-order terms. In the paper, as a step forward of our previous work [Phys.Rev.D {\bf 89},116001(2014)], we reanalyze the electroweak $ρ$ parameter by using the PMC single-scale approach. Using the PMC conformal series and the Pad$\acute{e}$ approximation approach, we observe that the residual scale dependence can be greatly suppressed and then a more precise pQCD prediction up to ${\rm N^4LO}$-level can be achieved, e.g. $Δρ|_{\rm PMC}\simeq(8.204\pm0.012)\times10^{-3}$, where the errors are squared averages of those from unknown higher-order terms and $Δα_s(M_Z)=\pm 0.0010$. We then predict the magnitudes of the shifts of the $W$-boson mass and the effective leptonic weak-mixing angle: $δM_{W}|_{\rm N^4LO} =-0.26$ MeV and $δ\sin^2θ_{\rm eff}|_{\rm N^4LO}=0.14\times10^{-5}$, which are well below the precision anticipated for the future electron-position colliders such as FCC, CEPC and ILC. Thus by measuring those parameters, it is possible to test SM with high precision.

Generalized Crewther relation and a novel demonstration of the scheme independence of commensurate scale relations up to all orders

In the paper, we make a detailed study on the generalized Crewther Relation (GCR) between the Adler function ($D$) and the Gross-Llewellyn Smith sum rules coefficient ($C^{\rm GLS}$) by using the newly suggested single-scale approach of the principle of maximum conformality (PMC). The resultant GCR is scheme-independent, whose residual scale dependence due to unknown higher-order terms are highly suppressed. Thus a precise test of QCD theory without renormalization scheme and scale ambiguities can be achieved by comparing with the data. Moreover, a demonstration of the scheme independence of commensurate scale relation up to all orders has been presented. And as the first time, the Pade approximation approach has been adopted for estimating the unknown $5_{\rm th}$-loop contributions from the known four-loop perturbative series.

A novel determination of non-perturbative contributions to Bjorken sum rule

In the present paper, we first give a detailed study on the pQCD corrections to the leading-twist part of BSR. Previous pQCD corrections to the leading-twist part derived under conventional scale-setting approach up to ${\cal O}(α_s^4)$-level still show strong renormalization scale dependence. The principle of maximum conformality (PMC) provides a systematic way to eliminate conventional renormalization scale-setting ambiguity by determining the accurate $α_s$-running behavior of the process with the help of renormalization group equation. Our calculation confirms the PMC prediction satisfies the standard renormalization group invariance, e.g. its fixed-order prediction does scheme-and-scale independent. In low $Q^2$-region, the effective momentum of the process is small and to have a reliable prediction, we adopt four low-energy $α_s$ models to do the analysis. Our predictions show that even though the high-twist terms are generally power suppressed in high $Q^2$-region, they shall have sizable contributions in low and intermediate $Q^2$ domain. By using the more accurate scheme-and-scale independent pQCD prediction, we present a novel fit of the non-perturbative high-twist contributions by comparing with the JLab data.

An improved light-cone harmonic oscillator model for the pionic leading-twist distribution amplitude

In this paper, we study the pion leading-twist distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;π}(x,μ)$ by improving the traditional light-cone harmonic oscillator model within the reconstruction of the function $φ_{2;π}(x)$. In order to constraining the model parameters, we calculate its moments $\langleξ^n\rangle_{2;π}|_μ$ in the framework of QCD background field theory sum rule (BFTSR) up to $10^{\rm th}$ order. Considering the fact that the sum rule of the $0^{\rm th}$ moment $\langleξ^0\rangle_{2;π}|_μ$ cannot be normalized, we suggest a more reasonable sum rule formula for $\langleξ^n\rangle_{2;π}|_μ$. Then, we obtain the values of $\langleξ^n\rangle_{2;π}|_{μ_0}$ with $n=(2,4,6,8,10)$ at the initial scale $μ_0 = 1~{\rm GeV}$. The first two moments are: $\langle ξ^2\rangle_{2;π}|_{μ_0} = 0.271 \pm 0.013$, $\langleξ^4\rangle_{2;π}|_{μ_0} = 0.138 \pm 0.010$; and the corresponding Gegenbauer moments are $a^{2;π}_2(μ_0) = 0.206 \pm 0.038$, $a^{2;π}_4(μ_0) = 0.047 \pm 0.011$, respectively. After fitting the moments $\langleξ^n\rangle_{2;π}|_μ$, we obtained the appropriate model parameters by using the least square method. The resultant behavior for twist-2 pion DA is more closely to the AdS/QCD and lattice result, but is narrower than that by Dyson-Schwinger equation. Furthermore, we calculate the pion-photon transition form factors (TFF) and $B\toπ$ TFF within light-cone sum rule approach, which are conform with experimental and theoretical results.

NLO fragmentation functions for a quark into a spin-singlet quarkonium: Same flavor case

In the paper, we calculate the fragmentation functions for $c \to η_c$ and $b \to η_b$ up to next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD accuracy. The ultraviolet divergences in the real corrections are removed through operator renormalization under the modified minimal subtraction scheme. We then obtain the fragmentation functions $D_{c \to η_c}(z,μ_F)$ and $D_{b \to η_b}(z,μ_F)$ up to NLO QCD accuracy, which are presented as figures and fitting functions. The numerical results show that the NLO corrections are significant. The sensitives of the fragmentation functions to the renormalization scale and the factorization scale are analyzed explicitly.

The $P$-wave charmonium annihilation into two photons $χ_{c0, c2}\rightarrow γγ$ with high-order QCD corrections

In this paper, we present a new analysis on the $P$-wave charmonium annihilation into two photons up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections by using the principle of maximum conformality (PMC). The conventional perturbative QCD prediction shows strong scale dependence and deviates largely from the BESIII measurements. After applying the PMC, we obtain a more precise scale-invariant pQCD prediction, which also agrees with the BESIII measurements within errors, i.e. $R={Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c2})} /{Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c0})}=0.246\pm0.013$, where the error is for $Δα_s(M_τ)=\pm0.016$. By further considering the color-octet contributions, even the central value can be in agreement with the data. This shows the importance of a correct scale-setting approach. We also give a prediction for the ratio involving $χ_{b0, b2} \toγγ$, which could be tested in future Belle II experiment.

The Gross-Llewellyn Smith sum rule up to ${\cal O}(α_s^4)$-order QCD corrections

In the paper, we analyze the properties of Gross-Llewellyn Smith (GLS) sum rule by using the $\mathcal{O}(α_s^4)$-order QCD corrections with the help of principle of maximum conformality (PMC). By using the PMC single-scale approach, we obtain an accurate renormalization scale-and-scheme independent fixed-order pQCD contribution for GLS sum rule, e.g. $S^{\rm GLS}(Q_0^2=3{\rm GeV}^2)|_{\rm PMC}=2.559^{+0.023}_{-0.024}$, where the error is squared average of those from $Δα_s(M_Z)$, the predicted $\mathcal{O}(α_s^5)$-order terms predicted by using the Padé approximation approach. After applying the PMC, a more convergent pQCD series has been obtained, and the contributions from the unknown higher-order terms are highly suppressed. In combination with the nonperturbative high-twist contribution, our final prediction of GLS sum rule agrees well with the experimental data given by the CCFR collaboration.

$Z$-boson hadronic decay width up to $\mathcal{O}(α_s^4)$-order QCD corrections using the single-scale approach of the principle of maximum conformality

In the paper, we study the properties of the $Z$-boson hadronic decay width by using the $\mathcal{O}(α_s^4)$-order quantum chromodynamics (QCD) corrections with the help of the principle of maximum conformality (PMC). By using the PMC single-scale approach, we obtain an accurate renormalization scale-and-scheme independent perturbative QCD (pQCD) correction for the $Z$-boson hadronic decay width, which is independent to any choice of renormalization scale. After applying the PMC, a more convergent pQCD series has been obtained; and the contributions from the unknown $\mathcal{O}(α_s^5)$-order terms are highly suppressed, e.g. conservatively, we have $ΔΓ_{\rm Z}^{\rm had}|^{{\cal O}(α_s^5)}_{\rm PMC}\simeq \pm 0.004$ MeV. In combination with the known electro-weak (EW) corrections, QED corrections, EW-QCD mixed corrections, and QED-QCD mixed corrections, our final prediction of the hadronic $Z$ decay width is $Γ_{\rm Z}^{\rm had}=1744.439^{+1.390}_{-1.433}$ MeV, which agrees with the PDG global fit of experimental measurements, $1744.4\pm 2.0$ MeV.

Fragmentation functions for a quark into a spin-singlet quarkonium: Different flavor case

In the paper, we calculate the fragmentation functions for a quark to fragment into a spin-singlet quarkonium, where the flavor of the initial quark is different from that of the constituent quark in the quarkonium. The ultraviolet divergences in the phase space integral are removed through the operator renormalization under the modified minimal subtraction scheme. The fragmentation function $D_{q \to η_Q}(z,μ_F)$ is expressed as a two-dimensional integral. Numerical results for the fragmentation functions of a light quark or a bottom quark to fragment into the $η_c$ are presented. As an application of those fragmentation functions, we study the processes $Z \to η_c+q\bar{q}g(q=u,d,s)$ and $Z \to η_c+b\bar{b}g$ under the fragmentation and the direct nonrelativistic QCD approaches.

The $D_s$-meson leading-twist distribution amplitude within the QCD sum rules and its application to the $B_s \to D_s$ transition form factor

We make a detailed study on the $D_s$ meson leading-twist LCDA $ϕ_{2;D_s}$ by using the QCD sum rules within the framework of the background field theory. To improve the precision, its moments $\langle ξ^n\rangle _{2;D_s}$ are calculated up to dimension-six condensates. At the scale $μ= 2{\rm GeV}$, we obtain: $\langle ξ^1\rangle _{2;D_s}= -0.261^{+0.020}_{-0.020}$, $\langle ξ^2\rangle _{2;D_s} = 0.184^{+0.012}_{-0.012}$, $\langle ξ^3\rangle _{2;D_s} = -0.111 ^{+0.007}_{-0.012}$ and $\langle ξ^4\rangle _{2;D_s} = 0.075^{+0.005}_{-0.005}$. Using those moments, the $ϕ_{2;D_s}$ is then constructed by using the light-cone harmonic oscillator model. As an application, we calculate the transition form factor $f^{B_s\to D_s}_+(q^2)$ within the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) approach by using a right-handed chiral current, in which the terms involving $ϕ_{2;D_s}$ dominates the LCSR. It is noted that the extrapolated $f^{B_s\to D_s}_+(q^2)$ agrees with the Lattice QCD prediction. After extrapolating the transition form factor to the physically allowable $q^2$-region, we calculate the branching ratio and the CKM matrix element, which give $\mathcal{B}(\bar B_s^0 \to D_s^+ \ellν_\ell) = (2.03^{+0.35}_{-0.49}) \times 10^{-2}$ and $|V_{cb}|=(40.00_{-4.08}^{+4.93})\times 10^{-3}$.

Revisiting the production of $J/ψ+η_c$ via the $e^+e^-$ annihilation within the QCD light-cone sum rules

We make a detailed study on the typical production channel of double charmoniums, $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_c$, at the center-of-mass collision energy $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV. The key component of the process is the form factor $F_{\rm VP}(q^2)$, which has been calculated within the QCD light-cone sum rules (LCSR). To improve the accuracy of the derived LCSR, we keep the $J/ψ$ light-cone distribution amplitude up to twist-4 accuracy. Total cross sections for $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_c$ at three typical factorization scales are $σ|_{μ_s} = 22.53^{+3.46}_{-3.49}~{\rm fb}$, $σ|_{μ_k} = 21.98^{+3.35}_{-3.38}~{\rm fb}$ and $σ|_{μ_0} = 21.74^{+3.29}_{-3.33}~{\rm fb}$, respectively. The factorization scale dependence is small, and those predictions are consistent with the BABAR and Belle measurements within errors.

Scale-Fixed Predictions for $γ+ η_c$ production in electron-positron collisions at NNLO in perturbative QCD

In the paper, we present QCD predictions for $η_{c} + γ$ production at an electron-position collider up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) accuracy without renormalization scale ambiguities. The NNLO total cross-section for $e^{+}+e^{-}\toγ+η_{c}$ using the conventional scale-setting approach has large renormalization scale ambiguities, usually estimated by choosing the renormalization scale to be the $e^+ e^-$ center-of-mass collision energy $\sqrt{s}$. The Principle of Maximum Conformality (PMC) provides a systematic way to eliminate such renormalization scale ambiguities by summing the nonconformal $β$ contributions into the QCD coupling $α_s(Q^2)$. The renormalization group equation then sets the value of $α_s$ for the process. The PMC renormalization scale reflects the virtuality of the underlying process, and the resulting predictions satisfy all of the requirements of renormalization group invariance, including renormalization scheme invariance. After applying the PMC, we obtain a scale-and-scheme independent prediction, $σ|_{\rm NNLO, PMC}\simeq 41.18$ fb for $\sqrt{s}$=10.6 GeV. The resulting pQCD series matches the series for conformal theory and thus has no divergent renormalon contributions. The large $K$ factor which contributes to this process reinforces the importance of uncalculated NNNLO and higher-order terms. Using the PMC scale-and-scheme independent conformal series and the $\rm Pad\acute{e}$ approximation approach, we predict $σ|_{\rm NNNLO, PMC+Pade} \simeq 21.36$ fb, which is consistent with the recent BELLE measurement $σ^{\rm obs}$=$16.58^{+10.51}_{-9.93}$ fb at $\sqrt{s} \simeq 10.6$ GeV. This procedure also provides a first estimate of the NNNLO contribution.
