AdaClearGrasp: Learning Adaptive Clearing for Zero-Shot Robust Dexterous Grasping in Densely Cluttered Environments

In densely cluttered environments, physical interference, visual occlusions, and unstable contacts often cause direct dexterous grasping to fail, while aggressive singulation strategies may compromise safety. Enabling robots to adaptively decide whether to clear surrounding objects or directly grasp the target is therefore crucial for robust manipulation. We propose AdaClearGrasp, a closed-loop decision-execution framework for adaptive clearing and zero-shot dexterous grasping in densely cluttered environments. The framework formulates manipulation as a controllable high-level decision process that determines whether to directly grasp the target or first clear surrounding objects. A pretrained vision-language model (VLM) interprets visual observations and language task descriptions to reason about grasp interference and generate a high-level planning skeleton, which invokes structured atomic skills through a unified action interface. For dexterous grasping, we train a reinforcement learning policy with a relative hand-object distance representation, enabling zero-shot generalization across diverse object geometries and physical properties. During execution, visual feedback monitors outcomes and triggers replanning upon failures, forming a closed-loop correction mechanism. To evaluate language-conditioned dexterous grasping in clutter, we introduce Clutter-Bench, the first simulation benchmark with graded clutter complexity. It includes seven target objects across three clutter levels, yielding 210 task scenarios. We further perform sim-to-real experiments on three objects under three clutter levels (18 scenarios). Results demonstrate that AdaClearGrasp significantly improves grasp success rates in densely cluttered environments. Modeling Atmospheric Ion Escape from Kepler-1649 b and c over Time

Rocky planets orbiting M-dwarf stars are prime targets for atmospheric characterization, yet their long-term evolution under intense stellar winds and high-energy radiation remains poorly constrained. The Kepler-1649 system, hosting two terrestrial exoplanets orbiting an M5V star, provides a valuable laboratory for studying atmospheric evolution in the extreme environments typical of M-dwarf systems. In this Letter we show that both planets could have retained atmospheres over gigayear timescales. Using a multi-species magnetohydrodynamic model, we simulate atmospheric ion escape driven by stellar winds and extreme ultraviolet radiation from 0.8 to 4.0 Gyr. The results reveal a clear decline in total ion escape rates with stellar age, as captured by a nonparametric LOWESS regression, with O$^{+}$ comprising 98.3%-99.9% of the total loss. Escape rates at 4.0 Gyr are two to three orders of magnitude lower than during early epochs. At 0.8 Gyr, planet b exhibits 3.79$\times$ higher O$^{+}$ escape rates than planet c, whereas by 4.0 Gyr its O$^{+}$ escape rate becomes 39.5$\times$ lower. This reversal arises from a transition to sub-magnetosonic star-planet interactions, where the fast magnetosonic Mach number, $M_f$, falls below unity. Despite substantial early atmospheric erosion, both planets may have retained significant atmospheres, suggesting potential long-term habitability. These findings offer predictive insight into atmospheric retention in the Kepler-1649 system and inform future JWST observations of similar M-dwarf terrestrial exoplanets aimed at refining habitability assessments.

Joint Spatial-Temporal Modeling and Contrastive Learning for Self-supervised Heart Rate Measurement

This paper briefly introduces the solutions developed by our team, HFUT-VUT, for Track 1 of self-supervised heart rate measurement in the 3rd Vision-based Remote Physiological Signal Sensing (RePSS) Challenge hosted at IJCAI 2024. The goal is to develop a self-supervised learning algorithm for heart rate (HR) estimation using unlabeled facial videos. To tackle this task, we present two self-supervised HR estimation solutions that integrate spatial-temporal modeling and contrastive learning, respectively. Specifically, we first propose a non-end-to-end self-supervised HR measurement framework based on spatial-temporal modeling, which can effectively capture subtle rPPG clues and leverage the inherent bandwidth and periodicity characteristics of rPPG to constrain the model. Meanwhile, we employ an excellent end-to-end solution based on contrastive learning, aiming to generalize across different scenarios from complementary perspectives. Finally, we combine the strengths of the above solutions through an ensemble strategy to generate the final predictions, leading to a more accurate HR estimation. As a result, our solutions achieved a remarkable RMSE score of 8.85277 on the test dataset, securing \textbf{2nd place} in Track 1 of the challenge.

Mutilmodal Feature Extraction and Attention-based Fusion for Emotion Estimation in Videos

The continuous improvement of human-computer interaction technology makes it possible to compute emotions. In this paper, we introduce our submission to the CVPR 2023 Competition on Affective Behavior Analysis in-the-wild (ABAW). Sentiment analysis in human-computer interaction should, as far as possible Start with multiple dimensions, fill in the single imperfect emotion channel, and finally determine the emotion tendency by fitting multiple results. Therefore, We exploited multimodal features extracted from video of different lengths from the competition dataset, including audio, pose and images. Well-informed emotion representations drive us to propose a Attention-based multimodal framework for emotion estimation. Our system achieves the performance of 0.361 on the validation dataset. The code is available at [https://github.com/xkwangcn/ABAW-5th-RT-IAI].

Ultrathin Terahertz Planar Lenses

Conventional optical components shape the wavefront of propagating light by adjusting the optical path length, which requires the use of rather thick lenses, especially for the adjustment of terahertz (THz) radiation due to its long wavelength. Two ultrathin THz planar lenses were designed and fabricated based on interface phase modulation of antenna resonance. The lens thicknesses were extremely reduced to 100 nm, which is only 1/4000th of the illuminating light wavelength. The focusing and imaging functions of the lenses were experimentally demonstrated. The ultrathin optical components described herein are a significant step toward the development of a micro-integrated THz system.

Extra connectivity measures of 3-ary n-cubes

The h-extra connectivity is an important parameter to measure the reliability and fault tolerance ability of large interconnection networks. The k-ary n-cube is an important interconnection network of parallel computing systems. The 1-restricted connectivity of k-ary n-cubes has been obtained by Chen et al. for k > 3 in [Y.-C. Chen, J. J. M. Tan, Restricted connectivity for three families of interconnection networks, Applied Mathematics and Computation 188 (2) (2007)1848--1855]. Nevertheless, the h-extra connectivity of 3-ary n-cubes has not been obtained yet. In this paper we prove that the 1-extra connectivity of a 3-ary n-cube is 4n-3 for n> 1 and the 2-extra connectivity of 3-ary n-cube is 6n-7 for n> 2.
